hello,
have a c5303 xperia sp and im trying to re-flash the stock rom using flashtool64. the phone doesnt power on but if i hold vol up/down then plug the phone into my pc via usb the respective fastboot/flash mode led colour lights up and it pops up on my computer to confirm it. when i try flash the stock rom, is gives me a error about system.sin, since then i am not able to get into flash/fastboot modes on my phone. as this has happened before (the phone not going into fastboot) im pretty sure i can get it to flash without system.sin then use fastboot to do it after.
the screen is completely blank, not even a backlight. when the usb is plugged in without a mode, it is red on the phones led, when i unplug it and try to turn it on, the red led flashes and nothing happens.
thanks in advance!
fixed it nvm

so I flashed the wrong FTF and the device won't turned on. Pressing power + either volume up or down gives me white LED.
Can someone please help getting my device back in working condition? thanks
edit: tried flashmode and it's getting detected but gets undetected soon after. and then red led on the device

If you can go into flash mode, then you can flash back stock firmware using flashtool..usually in flash mode it allow you to flash first but will detach it self if the device cannot open for r/w operation, then you just have to shut off your phone and start over..the red led maybe is indicating your phone does not have enough power, just charge it first till it turn yellow or green, just then begin the flash mode...
I'll it for 4 hours and see what happens next. Thanks!
I got the device back. thank you very very much!
So I did a stupid thing and didn't do my homework. I flashed CM 10.2 for Xperia T (Mint) on my rooted Xperia TL but didn't unlock the bootloader first. The phone won't boot. Just a black screen. If I hold the power button, it vibrates once, but nothing comes up on the screen. No LED light indicating charging while plugged in.
Have I just destroyed the phone?

No. A custom kernel won't work on a locked bootloader, so that is essentially your problem. Just put your phone in flash mode and use flashtool to flash a stock FTF and it should boot up just fine.

Then maybe put your phone in fastboot mode and flash the kernel first... IDK, I did that once and I'm pretty sure that's how I fixed it. With 7zip you can extract the "kernel.sin" file from the FTF, and use Flashtool in Fastboot mode to flash that kernel.
Thanks. I've been trying to put it into fastboot and can't get it to work. From what I have read, I need to hold power+volDown, right? I've held power + volUp to get it to vibrate three times, then connected it with the power & volDown buttons held and nothing - no blue light for fastboot mode. I've currently got it plugged in (using the oem Sony cable) with a rubber band around the power & volDown buttons. Maybe that'll work... I dunno. The led is just staying red, and I can't see it listed as a fastboot devices by typing "fastboot devcies" when cmd is open in the correct folder in the sdk... Any ideas on how to get this done?
Thanks for your help, everyone.

It's a bit hard to understand what you're trying to do
Fastboot mode = just press vol.up, keep on pressing, connect USB, when you get a blue light release the vol. button
Flash mode = just press vol.down, keep on pressing, connect USB when Flashtool is ready to flash the FTF, when you get a green light release the vol. button
As you can see, you don't have to press the PWR button (only pwr + vol.up to reset, but you already know it).
Usually it's enough to flash a new FTF... I don't know why you get that error: maybe a wrong button combination or maybe you didn't install the drivers needed for flashtool.
If your battery is almost discharged, the fastboot method is good to flash only the kernel in order to recharge the battery and then flash an entire FTF.
I guess your device is ok.
Anyway, have you already seen this guide?
I'll give it a shot. I can't seem to get it into flash mode or fastboot mode, though. When I hold down the Volume up or volume down button and try to plug it in, the light stays red and the computer makes a "connect" sound (Windows 7 - rising tones), then multiple "disconnect" sounds (falling tones). The light stays red and the phone is not connected.
I'm downloading a stock firmware and flashtool and will report back when I've tried it some more.

I suggest removing the battery, if you have the chance.
Keep the battery removed and press and hold power and volume up buttons simultaneously. Then plug the phone to your computer and you'll enter fastboot mode.
I revived my XV with the same red led that way.
Had to remove the battery before it would work, tho.
Good luck bro!
Sorry it took so long to get to this. I've just been using my backup in the meantime.
I took the battery out and plugged it in like you suggested. Worked like a charm! I've got it flashed and running now. Thanks!
I was formating sd card in recovery mode, and then I chose "reboot to system" option, for leaving recovery. The telephone turn off. And nothing more. The battery was about 80%.
The telephone don't react on anything. No power button (or holding power button+volumeUp). If I connect usb charger, it doesn't do anything. If I connect PC via USB, there is no new device in PC. No led blinking.
I tried charging for hole day and night, but nothing changed.
I opened the case (it is just on screw) and disconnect and reconnect the battery. But nothing changed.
So I disconnect the battery again and connect usb. The red LED now blinks every second. And when I'm holding the power button, it doesn't do anything. But it is still the same.. black screen, turned off, no computer connection..
Have you any idea, what can I do? What can I try? Thx

You shouldn't have rebooted into system after wiping it in the first place, because you have no system now. You might try flashing any custom rom's kernel (boot.img) if your device is unlocked. You do it using Flashtool. First copy the boot.img from the rom's zip and paste it somewhere, then select the lightning bolt icon in flashtool, select fastboot mode. Then connect your phone to pc while holding volume + button and keep holding it until blue led lights up. Then in flashtool on the right side choose to flash kernel and select the boot.img you copied from the rom before. After that you should be able to boot into recovery and install any custom rom. If you do not have any custom rom on your phone, you can only transfer it from pc to your microSd card using the sd card adapter and then put the sd card back in your phone.
If your bootloader is NOT unlocked, then you can only try connecting your phone to pc while holding the volume - button until green led lights up. If it doesn't light up, I believe your phone is hard bricked and you can't do anything much. If it does light up, you can download any firmware for your phone in .ftf format and flash it using the same method as described above, but instead of choosing fastboot mode, you have to choose flashmode and select the .ftf you downloaded.

This. I was in the same situation like you just few hours ago. I decided to install custom stock based rom and I rebooted after factory reset. My phone wasn't turning on or anything, just dead brick. I left it for few hours and then I saw that red led was blinking while I was trying to turn it on. So I plugged it into my PC and it was charging (first success). I used flashtool and after many, and I mean it, errors it managed to flash my stock rom.
Now I am stuck at installing CWM v7 but that is another story ; )
edit: fixed it, just flashed a stock FTF, i'll dot the whole process again later on and hope this time it works out
You can close teh thread (i've tried to delete it but can't find the option)
I've just checked that I can boot my phone and recovery works. But for instance when i try to put service mode it gives an error with IMEI
edit: i've booted to the other recovery (using volume up) and installed the pre-rooted FW again. Shut down and tried again the flashmode process but still no luck, red and quick green light. After booting the phone, it seems to work basically, but wifi not working, it doesn't turn on.
What should the next step be?
The computer does not recognize the phone when my connect it to the USB port, not even charge. The only thing that happens is a flash of red light then green light. Same thing if phone is shut down when i connect the usb cable, red flash, then sony screen appears, then green light, and finally it vibrates two times before showing the level of battery, but without actually charging it.
Anf if i try a Vol Down+Power when in standby and connect with usb cable, it shows a quick red then green flash, and then nothing.
Ok i fixed that problem apparently the USB cable decided to stop working...
Now i have another problem as I decided to install the deodexed ROM and now my phone gets stuck at the sony screen and i can't even boot to recovery.
What i did to install:
Boot to recovery using Volume Up (PhilZ)
Prepare to install new rom (which formats Data, cache, etc)
Install ROM form SDcard1
Everything went fine but at the end it says "root lost or something" I put yes, then rebooted to system, and got stuck on sony screen....
What did i do wrong and how to fix it??
Thanks for the help!

When I press the power button nothing happens.
When I plug the phone into my computer or a wall outlet and hold the UP volume button the LED flashes red then turns blue. It stays blue.
When I plug the phone into my computer or a wall outlet and hold the DOWN volume button the LED flashes red then green then the LED turns off.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I get to step 6 nothing happens. it's like I can't get into Flashmode. It just repeats connect your device. No matter how many times I do it or how long I hold the button. It's not recognizing the device. PC companion doesnt recognize it either.

Yes. I broke the charger connector thing in the phone. I had it repaired and it was working. I honestly think the place that repaired it messed with the phone to get more money out of me.
They fixed it and when I took it, once it ran out of battery it started to do the same thing again. I cant figure out what it is.

it seems that they didnt fix your phone at all. I suggest you go to a more reliable store or even if there is one near you to a sony repair store

VOL UP (Blue LED) is fastboot. This is working . Thats a good thing.
1. Turn the Handy off
2. Press and hold VOL+UP
3. Connect the cable
4. Wait till the LED is blue and take your fingers from the phone
The display will indicates nothing in this mode.. It's normal.
Now you can Download TWRP Recovery for C6603.
Have you got an open bootloader.
which rom you wanted to install? stock? custom?
1. Download the boot-twrp-v2.img from (please take the right version for your phone):

4. Press "Shift+Mouse-Right-Click"
5. "open command windows here"
6. C:\Flashtool\adb>fastboot.exe flash boot boot-twrp-v2.img
Go in Recovery and wipe/factory reset (or flash a new rom, ...)
Should work. Good Luck.

your solution is not going to help because its a hardware problem and pc companion wont help since the phone wont even boot up
in a similar (or worse) problem :
was just using the phone when it hangs .. Instead being smart and patient, I tried to hard-reset it .. the screen goes dark, my android wear disconnect .. but then I literally got nothing ..
tried to put it to the cradle, connect the USB to computer, no lights, nothing
fastboot mode : volume up + connect USB, no lights, nothing
hold power button : no lights, nothing ..
the phone feels cold, so the procs seems to be sleeping ...
any ideas ?

believe me hard reset didnt do that. Either your battery died and now you need a new battery or you phone died and now you need a new phone
