Build
Battery usage
Phone idle consumes 21.73%
Phone idle time
Software consumption level, i don't think it is the cause

I have exactly the same problem and and do not know how to solve it. I read everything and tried everything, even made factory reset...no results

I get semi-normal sleep time with wifi sleep mode set to "never" or wifi off. Everything else fails. I also have abnormal GoogleAccountManager battery drain somewhere between 30 - 45%. Nothing helps, even factory reset without any apps installed.
Mine is VTR-L09

I got the p10 yesterday, but my android system and android os i very high. I go to bed like 00:10 am and woke up 8:10 and my battery was going from 45% to 8% in 8 hours with no use

Is there anything i can do about it?

Maybe an update anysoon will solve this issue ? Or do you think is hardware?

I'm on B120 firmware but I've never encountered such issue. Having said that I did kill a system process called Power Genius. Not sure if that matters.

I killed it due to the inconsistent brightness issue. Some apps like Chrome and Facebook will automatically dim the screen brightness. Someone said disable that app will help. It didn't actually solve the problem but I left it disabled.

that amount of drain is impossible to be a problem with rom. Some 3rd party app maybe waking your phone up, or your gps is on, or your wifi/3g connection is very disruptive.

These roms go through testing before being released. So such margin of drain is unlikely. But either way have you updated to latest rom ? Also experiment battery drain while on flight mode or with 4g turned off and so on.

I just uninstalled the Facebook app. And disabled Facebook appmanager. There was also a Facebook installer app i removed. I don't know if it a placebo effect, but it feels like my battery usage has stopped. Also my phone is using less ram.

Many people has mentioned about facebook app drains battery and eats up ram, I always delete/disable the app along with any apps I don't use.
i'm on the same rom and I get little under 2 days of use on regular setting and over 2days with power savings (not ultra power saving).
Just some advice, I never use fast charging on any phone with built-in battery, and fast charging does drain battery quicker and reduce life span, that being said, i'm using my Samsung 2A charger (non fast charging).

hi guys, i had the same problem and i fixed it, going to settings - apps-and at the bottom you'll find an icon as a gear, press it and go to. special acces, then go to battery optimization (or something like these) and un allow all of them, except google services.

Forgot to mention, you need to turn off the WIFI advance.

What apps does she have installed which you don't?
For example, if she uses the Facebook/Twitter apps and they're updating themselves every 10 mins as opposed to every hour (or even manually) then her battery will get eaten alive!

how do i do that? in the task manager?
I also turned the sync to her facebook app to 'never' .
Turn GPS off when not needed and WiFi when not needed that usually helps. Also when wifi is on turn off notify me about new networks. Make sure screen brightness is set to automatic also.
if she has live wallpapers thats a bad ideea for a lasting battery, live wallpapers use cpu.. cpu user electricity, and the battery gets empty really fast. i`m runing ~ 40hours with nonstop wifi or data mode activated, depends on my locations, 1 push email runing 24/7 skype 24/7 and i talk for about 10-30 min per day... so... install cpu temp v2 and uncheck the screen timeout (set it to 10 minutes) and let the phone on the table and look at the cpu tempv2 if the cpu drops to 1-5 % @100mhz , if it doesn`t drop below 10 percent @100mhz then you have some nasty apps that are not idle.
if im in an area where i get 5 bars i can get more battery life while using my phone for a while, than I would if I am in an area where i get no connection or an area where my connection is constantly dropping. This is because the phone constantly tries to connect to the service provider and uses up tons of battery doing it.

I have 2 days battery life with medium usage, download a stripped rom and keep it basic on the widget/wallpaper/amount of apps.
Download damiangto 1.2 gold underclock to 800 mhz (or keep it at 1000 mhz, but it doesnt change so much in speed for me)
undervolt by steps. as long as your phone doesnt die in sleepmode you can go lower. Im undervolting at -100 without any problems.
Download superpower or juicedefender. I have good experiences with both, using superpower at the moment and its free and good.
black backgrounds and themes are better for battery life because of the Super AMOLED screen.
You dont have to totally discharge your phone before charging it, charging whenever possible is actually better for long term battery life.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the replies everyone
I'l check all of the information out
I installed
Battery mix (has discharge graph)
Smart battery
Battery eta (has Discharge rate)
I swapped batteries with mine (hers still discharged too fast)
annoyingly it mucked up the battery discharge statistics because my battery was full when i put it in her phone.
She doesn't really muck about with her phone, very few apps or wallpaper etc.
I just go crazy with mine.
my battery discharge (with loads of use see CPU graph)

I looked in running services
mapslocationfriendservice (latitude) was 26% mine was about 9
and android system was higher on her phone
I mucked about unnistalled and installing maps using market and titanium backup
also I installed OCLF on her phone (one click lag fix) because it is on my phone. also the battery apps were slowing it down.
In short
her battery is plummeting about 3 hour if its in use and 11 in standby
its not the battery
i think is something to do with the android system.
probably latitude
but i could be wrong
I'll have another crack at it later.
Worst case i could master reset and restore titanium backups of her texts and contacts and stuff. but I like to sort it out
Cheers for the advice, I'll check it all out.
I'll post back if there any change in the situation
quick update
Her phone appears to be running better
I think it was google maps latitude update.
I cant 100% be sure.
but the result of the stuff i tried on the above post seemed to have changed her phone from the poor performance it suddenly started getting.
I am thinking of trying out 'superpower' and or 'juicedefender' on mine and her phones in the future.

I have the same wakeups so i guess its normal.
Try using greeenify and use it to put all apps you dont need when the screen is off into dormancy.
You can also use tasker to switch to 2G mode when screen is off, since then you dont need a fast internet connection.
Still your drain does not look that bad, i get around 2-3% drainage per hour with occasional use of the phone. Of course this goes way up when I do something work intensive.
So you could be fine unless you have not been using the phone and still get 4% drainage per hour.

I already use Greenify.
I agree that it isn't a disaster, but I've never had that experience of "2 days battery".
Anyway... Tasker is a good idea!

Jeah the 2 days is only possible if you only ocassionally use the phone for email, whats app , browsing. And then also only because of the outstanding standby mode during night times which is around 0.2%/ h. During the day if you check your phone regularly standby mode will not really kick in hence the higher battery consumption also when the screen is off.

Hmm, may be firmware related?here is my setup.
Im on .98 since .77 screws up my tap2wake.
greenified paid version with everything put to sleep including some system apps i dared to put to rest
Connected to Wifi , no mobile data enabled
stamina mode on, xposed module bootmanager with only the things i need to boot up
Sony enterprise service and my xperia disabled through adb.
Syncing only on for my email and some google functions. messaging apps i sync manually since i dont add contacts every day.
all xperia sharing things frozen, like twitter facebook life log etc. with titanium backup.
no facebook app (i think this one is a terrible battery drainer) and i dont need it.
This basically gives me a straight line in the night with almost no battery usage during standby.
Hope this helps
On .77 i have 0% drain overnight (around 8 hours). I keep wifi off and no stamina settings. I set network mode to GSM only

Yes, also they stopped. I was tracking com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup from Greenify. It was increasing every day. And I tried that method and wakelocks stopped. May be you are changed wrong code. Check your steps. It must work.

[Q] - Android OS high battery consumption on 4.4.4 when connected to WiFi

Hello.
My XT1058 is running 4.4.4 at the moment.
I've noticied that when connected to a good WiFi, Android OS starts consuming battery.
It seems to only happen on my WiFi.
Signal strength should not be an issue, since connection is at about -60db.
I've a Linksys E900 running DD-WRT.
It's configured as N-Only, and running WPA2 Personal AES security.
I would not think it's a router's firmware issue.
Would you be able to assist?.
Thank you.
Is your phone always awake?
It's hard to tell.
It's not showing as "active" in the battery graph...
I've also installed System Monitor Lite, which tells me that the phone is actually going into deep sleep.
Today I've drained the battery until the phone shut off, and then charged it while powered off until 100%.
So I do not have more than a few hours of this deep sleep measurement.
But, slowly but surely, now back at home connected to WiFi, I'm noticing that Android OS is gaining a few % points each hour...
It's quite hard for me to ping point what's causing this issue, and was not able to find anything certain.
It's not location services, because it should happen on other wifis as well...
Thank you.
I had a similar situation with Android System eating a lot of battery, but my phone was always awake (solid bar in the battery stats) . Turned out it was backup to Google servers. I've unticked "backup my data" under Backup and Reset in settings and my phone goes to sleep now and battery is back to normal (4 hours of sot).
No, that is not what's happening here.
Phone is not active all the time, it's about 79% in deep sleep according to System Monitor Lite, and 12% at 300 or so mhz...
I've installed another firmware to my router, and the issue is still present.
Battery is draining while connected to wifi as hard or even harder than on 3G mobile data.
Went to sleep, and after some hours of not using the phone, this is the result:

You can see that the incline of the graph while being on wifi is steeper than on 3g. Also, Battery Drain app tells me that drainage is about 3-4% per hour, while it's below 3% being on mobile data.

I was able to run wakelock detector without rooting...
It turned out that there were some heavy wakelocks referring to nlpwakelocks.
I've read about those, and should be related to location services. But I didn't have location history enabled, and was already using battery saving as location configuration.
I also disabled location and rebooted the phone, without success...
So I decided to perform a hard reset on the phone...
I'm going to run it for a few days, and will report back

It worked ok for about 2 days, then the drainage reappeared.
I was able to run wakelock detector without rooting.
It seems there are a few wakelocks that are related to location services.
I was under the impression it was solved by forcing location services processes. It worked of for almost a week, but after connecting to another WiFi at another home, issue appeared again back at home...
So, summing up: I was not able to solve it yet... It has something to do with location services.
Aww that's a bummer, well good luck to you. I would try the whole root and use the xposed module to stop the wakelock, but since I'm on Republic Wireless and 4.4.4 there's no method of rooting for me.
It's something related to location services. I don't know what exactly.
It's quite odd, because for some reason Android seems to go south without any apparent reason, and starts getting fixates with location... and then, without me doing anything, it stops...
I've noticed that when this happens, if I'm using GPS as high accuracy, while having the screen on GPS icon would start appearing frequently on the task bar. That icon would be present for about 5-10 seconds then disappear. Then, after a few seconds or minutes, again, and again, and again...
This is not app related to me...
Enviado desde mi XT1058
Hello.
It's been a while, and to be honest I forgot about this topic.
In fact, it was reminded to me while creating a new one, to tell you what I've discovered.
I've narrowed down the issue, and I think I know what's happening, but I have no idea on how to fix it, or why is it even happening...
It turns out it's not related to location services, since I've disabled them altogether...
But issue still remains...
It seems the drainage appears while connected to the wifi, and the desktop that's connected to the same wifi router is on...
Oddly enough, item that appears on the top of the battery usage is "Android OS", and nothing related to WiFi.
Also, idle time while issue is not present (that is, on wifi and desktop off) is superb...
I do not really know how could I fix this issue.
Any insights will be appreciated There's no network traffic while the issue is happening, because I've a meter installed on Android that tells me 0kb/s traffic.
PC is running Windows 7 64-bits, router is a Linksys E900 running DD-WRT firmware.
Thanks.
Believe it or not, after uninstalling ES File Explorer, issue disappeared... Not sure what's wrong with that app that makes Android OS crazy... But after weeks (or even months) after uninstalling the app, Android OS is not draining battery anymore...

First of all, Have you tried using a wake lock detector to find the issue? What ROM are you using including the kernel? Give the full list of all apps installed by you. Are you using root? SuperSu or Magisk? Did you flash a stable version on top of a beta version or vice versa? All i can tell you from the screenshot is that facebook needs to be deleted. No matter how much you enjoy that app, Just login via Chrome and save almost all your 4% you spent on facebook.

Anyone with some input ?
Sorry I literally forgot to press send, I'd recommend for you make a back up of everything from within TWRP and copy it on to a computer. I had a lot of issues with older oxygen os but after 4.1.3, I haven't had a issue for a random drain. Do a clean flash and install your apps one by one or use wake lock detector and see which app is misbehaving.
I am having the same kind of issue. I did a super-clean install of stable 4.1.5. This happens in all ROMs for me :-?
This happened on my Nexus 6P also. I think it's a Nougat problem or just the way Nougat calculates drain.
I am having the same issue here. This is on stable 4.1.5. Any ideas?
Same here unfortunately.
Maybe it's just time to perform a factory reset
Just started for me as well. Something also seems to be causing the cores to get stuck on Max frequency as well. This never happened on 4.1.3
i've been having the same issue for a couple weeks. I had re-enabled google now and noticed my battery dropped more than i would expect so I've had it disabled for some time now but even with that (which worked before), i've had a lot of consistent drain throughout the day. Battery should last 25-30 hours but it's only lasting me 20-24 due to this consistent drain. I'm thinking I may need a factory reset too, and if that doesn't work, next step is to root and disable "wake up" permissions for all these apps.

Well.... People think their phone runs on its own and no it doesn't. Android system is the android environment that manages thinks like drivers internet connectivity logging ram management and basically anything that isn't third party. Your phone's OS cant run without taking power. All your hardware power drain is placed into android system category. There are ways to decrease the consumption but its not very noticeable without xposed and turning some hardware off.

It should never top your SOT though. Now what is causing it, idk. I had this drain with 4.1.5, but not with any other builds. And I clean flashed twice. And the same set up. That's why I'm on OB8.
I have noticed this happens a lot while on mobile data. This doesn't happen on WiFi. There's something causing more wake locks when the device is on mobile data! I've tried everything then turning off location history but it doesn't seem to work
It can though easily. Especially if you use your device on and off. It doesn't always top my sot but when it does i have less than 3 hours. But then again i never let my battery drain to less than 10%before charging. Just turn things off as you dont use them. Or use IFTTT for that. Try using Better Battery Stats for a few days then check the "ALARMS" section.
Try fixing the adblocker. With the new set of hosts enabled, full blocking of ads, I am getting good SOT than before.

Fix it how? Was that posted in here?
I guarantee it has nothing to do with adblocker. I am on stock 4.1.5, no custom kernel or anything, and the android OS is eating my battery like hell. It's just stupid.

You might knowing about Deep discharge issue reported on S8/S8+/N8 devices This tool simply switch off device when battery level reaches to 12% to prevent accidental Deep Discharge (While you are sleeping )
Rest is self explanatory
If you enable tool from app, it will give a beep when battery level reaches 12% two time with small interval and if you don't attend, it will turn off device to prevent further battery loss.
PS : Application shouldn't be greenified or killed by any method. Also to add in list of unmonitored apps from Settings-Battery-Unmonitored apps to prevent killing by android system.
Changelog
1.0 - Initial release
1.1
- there are now 4 options for device turn off battery level e.g. 5/7/9/11
- Default and recommended is 11%.
- Added Green dot when service is ON
- Added vibration alert before turning off.
1.2 (3552)
- Better root detection, it will show up root status on top. It should ask root access (If available) on starting of app.
- For rooted device, it will turn off device if first two alerts not attended.
- For non rooted device, It will give two short beeps and then every 30 minutes with louder and long duration each time (should enough to wake up for most peoples ) for next 3 hrs.
1.3
- Fix possible issue with SuperSu and Magisk (16.4) on oreo
Important : No root device will get alert only, for shut off device root is requires. I am looking into this for non root version for better options.

Test is running, thank you.
Why not at 5%? So it shortens my SOT by an hour.

Will make new version with some custom options like 5,10,15 or so
Let's see how users respond to this
How much is the battery consumption of the app?
RAM consumption is ok.

Thanks dr! I will try it and report back, choosing levels would be a good idea
Yes, newer one is having options for 5/7/9/11 % battery level. It's ready but need to test final time. Just received a gift of Note8 VR so now busy with installing it first
That's good, today I was on the verge of a heart attack when my phone beeped and suddenly went out. I forgot your App.

I have tested and consumed non recordable drain in total 80% total drain.
Are all Note 8 variants affected?

Does this work on snapdragon models?
Yeah it should work on any variants.
Deleted
So is the discharge issue with Samsung phones is that a hardware issue or a software issue that can be fixed with firmware update?
Can't wait for the newest version, would also like to have the newer options to choose 5% instead of 12%
Thanks for the app @dr.ketan
