Hi guys, would it be possible for us to have clearmotion on this phone just like those ones with mediatek processors?
Now what is this "clearmotion" (tm?) you speak of? Probably the answer is no, unless it's just a software routine with freely available source code (not very likely since you mentioned Mediatek).

Today it has been announced in the XDA that redmi Note 4 got its project treble compatibility and it is a full project treble compatibility.
So when is Moto G5 s going to receive any kind of project treble compatibility but I think that it is relative the easier than the Xiaomi devices because it has all the resources available and I don't think there is any kind of heavy modification from the Motorola side as Xiaomi
But motorola does not offer enough sources to enable trebel i think..
What is project treble anyway, care to explain?

Google can explain, but don't expect anything for this device. It's good for the future, but this device is in the past.

There's an additional abstraction layer / API between the OS and the hardware drivers,
that make it easier to update the Android OS across different vendors with the same chipset (SoC) and hardware features (and long-term probably also across newer Android and Kernel versions, not sure though)
In essence you should be able to run an AOSP build from e.g. Huawei on Sony phones, LG, etc. as long as the components are the same,
meaning: e.g. phone calling, WiFi, etc. all should be working out of the box after installing that, camera and specific features (e.g. dedicated sound DAC) might be a different story though and require adjustments (not sure how that is realized in detail with Treble)
The thing with Project Treble is that it has to be considered right from the start, meaning there need to be (2 ?) additional partitions for updates available:
Partition A (current),
Partition B (new)
So that means for existing device it would involve re-partitioning and/or adding additional partitions to make a device Project Treble "ready",
which is practically impossible since this cannot be achieved with OTA updates.
I've read that older Huawei (or other vendor, Xiaomi ?) has this experimentally added (community ?) but this would require TWRP and/or custom manual intervention through recovery
and most people aren't able to do this - so it's unrealistic that existing device without Project Trouble could be "upgraded", retrofitted through that means
that's at least the superficial level that I got to understand from the discussion from other Sony devs
Hope that helps
Anything that can be developed for this phone have to be figured out very fast because Moto is going to release the G6 family very soon and as you know that once a new family gets released the older family gets less attention and gradually dies over the time and sadly I can see that there are no dedicated developers for this phone so the community has to take the responsibility to do anything possible for this phone as soon as possible.
Hey everyone,
I haven't been on XDA for awhile, but recently made a forced-switch to Android. Years ago, I made a fairly popular rom for the Droid Incredible, and was considering a new project for the RP2 that would focus on user privacy / security.
I was hoping there was someone who knew the chipset for the RP2, as Razer is unable to provide the information directly.
If someone could let me know, I'd really appreciate it!
It uses the qcacld3 oss drivers. I'm not sure if that tells you anything. Any specific command to run which reveals it?
I'm wondering is there no capable developer here who can build custom rom for Nokia 8?I don't have the proper programming language skill to deal with maintaining source codes to develop a proper custom rom for Nokia 8.If someone has skill in programming language but doesn't have a powerful machine I can collaborate with that. I could request some developer I know to build rom for this phone but someone has to donate a Nokia 8 to them to do that,oh well...
Guess I'll have to sell this Phone if nothing happens for this heavenly neglected phone.
Thing is, Nokia 8 is not a popular device. Just look at our forum, it's almost dead.
So even if there is a good chef owning a Nokia 8, that's probably his secondary device.
Devs circulate around popular devices, so there's a crowd to build for. Here we're just a few people, so there's no point.
If modding is important to you, always choose a popular device, that allows or even encourages modding. Nokia 8 is not that kind of device.
exactly, Nokia 8 is minimalistic and has no any additions. Nokia 8 is simply to work quickly and efficiently.
Can I ask a question? Why you need custom ROM? at this time Phone is up to date.

Why some phone gets custom rom and other modding facilities after a few month from release?(Guess that phones i'm talking about) Even after having kernel source codes and bootloader unlock option we haven't seen any development in custom rom project for 8.Don't think 8 got stable OS or any kind of feature improvement in that half baked OS that we have asked for. This is is a lot cheaper phone with a great hardware spec but still none of the dev showed any interest on this phone.Glad to see a guy is trying to do something for this device(T-Virus project) but Anyway, not interested into custom rom or even into this phone anymore. This post is a month older.Nor I can close the thread unless I PM to moderator.:silly:
I believe that something can be improved with custom rom but unfortunately It's hard to determine what anything more might be needed at this time.
my friends prefer piece of junk Xiaomi because is cheap. When i start talking about Nokia they tend to frown.
I Love my Nokia 8
i think there will be no developers or atleast very few, cause Nokia was lagging to unlock booloader, there is very small community which have small amount of Nokia 8's (comparing with other brands most popular phones). This phone is dead, sadly.
Apologies if this is a question with an obvious answer, are Vivo bootloaders unlockable, and is there an active development community for their phones? (Vivo says it's not possible, and if you do unlock the bootloader, that voids the warranty ...so that presumes it's possible...?)
Not knowing much about Vivo phones in general I looked around the forums and haven't seen that much activity, and no official LineageOS drops. Given that Vivo doesn't seem to be committed to long term OS updates, I'd want to know if there is a reasonable chance of getting some sort of custom ROM -- the camera looks amazing, but IMO not worth the cost if the phone is disposable after 2 years...
Thanks for any advice/ opinions you might have
Don't think so, Vivo is synonymous with not Cooperating with developers and not open sourcing thier sources and device trees.
Most likely the answer for most Vivo and even Oppo phones is no to custom ROMs.
I would buy a Vivo phone if they allowed bootloader unlock and also published thier kernel source and device trees.

Unlocking the Bootloader creates security vulnerabilities......many Apps like Banking, Netflix etc will not function with an unlocked Bootloader.
The reason for many manufacturers disapprove of unlocking it.
Hi all,
I am wondering whether the source code for the Mi11 has been released and if yes, if it is enough? I know source code for the Mi9T Pro was released but the fingerprint scanner didn't function properly on customs ROMs because of non-released code. Is something like that the case with the Mi11?
I read here: https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-11-kernel-source-code/ that the source code is released with the launch and here on Github I see files. But can someone tell me whether this is enough? If yes, why isn't there a development for custom ROM started yet? The device too expensive? Not interesting enough? Too difficult? I just really want to understand.
The source is there and should be fine. However, no one is yet interested in making ROMs both because the phone is expensive and because it's new and well supported by Xiaomi themselves (remember most custom ROMs come from indian developers, and for India this device is out of reach for many people for now). The Mi 10 also took a lot of time to get good ROMs, just wait a few months and they'll probably start to pop up, especially once it becomes last gen and people start buying it for cheaper.
