Getting rid of soft buttons bar but tray

Hi there,
I´m trying to hide the soft buttons bar. I already tried pmc today shrink and softbar remover, both found searching the forums.
Problem is, I still want to display the tray (in the place of the soft button bar - the goal is to increase today space without loosing the tray).
With pmc today shrink, the soft buttons bar is gone, but also the tray.
With softbar remover, the softbar is gone, but the tray remains in the same place (so today screen space is not bigger).
Does any1 have any idea about doing this ?
Thanks in advance.

well with pmc the buttons are still usable. you just have to hit the actual soft key buttons not the touch screen.
my 2centz.
Well... yes, I know
Thats exactly what I want: I want to get rid of the softbar, but be able to still use it by pressing the soft buttons (hence, why I think there is no need to have it on screen).
What I want is to hide the softbar, and still be able to see the system tray at the bottom of the screen...
The problem is that with both solutions I have found, I can´t do that: with the first, the softbar is gone but the tray remains at the same place, so I can´t make use of the extra pixels. And with the second, both the softbar and the tray are gone.
Thanks for trying to help
On WM6.0 I had very rarely problems with VJ Toggle Today II, it basically just hides the soft menu and everything else moves down, it looks great and the soft keys still work, PHM Task Launch works perfect, programs show up in the tray at the very bottom of the screen, the Today screen items can take up the extra space that has been made above it, etc..
The executable is: vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe and you just put it in Startup. I have to tweak the registry to get it just perfect, the following post documents it, has a link to it, etc..

It says WM5 only but it works fine for me on WM6.0 and WM6.1 Caveat with WM6.1; after reboot I have to slide the phone once for the task tray to show up at all. It's just empty down at the bottom otherwise. It happened every so often with WM6.0, but 100% of the time with WM6.1. But it's a fairly minor annoyance. I might see if there's some way to automate this with MortScript or something and put it at the end of the startup list.
Amazing!!
Reinstalled pmc todayshrink and as you mentioned, opening the keyboard made the tray reappear.
Thanks!! Now my today screen is looking the way I want.
You may also want to try dcinobar. It is a very small program that lowers the softkey bar but still allows the system tray to be seen.

D/L link in post #12.
EDIT: But you will have to slide the phone open and close it to make the tray go to the bottom as well...

Soft Keys

I use the N6 as a righty so having to reach for the back button in one handed use is tough. Has anyone seen an easy way to swap the back and recents soft keys?
You'd have to root to swap. Try Pie controls from the app stote. Make sure to enable the back button in the settings.

I always install this one on every Android device. Started with the note 2 [emoji2]
Only have home, back, and recent on the pie
LMT Launcher is on all my phones. It's not really a Launcher either, just the name.
Not yet available, will have to wait for custom ROMs with this feature or manually do the changes via code.

remap back and recent apps keys...

Hi, is there any way to replace roles of those 2 navigation keys?
I have problem with screen sensitivity on bottom right part so want to have back key left (back is muck more used and this part of screen is perfectly responsible)
This will help me a lot, I have no solution to fix this or to replace phone...

Remap / Swap of BACK & RECENT capacitive buttons

Hi there,
I am pretty new to my Redmi 4X, but one thing that freaked me out was the reversed position of the BACK & RECENT Buttons compared to other phones ( which I came from ).
Since it took me a while to figure it out exactly, I will put it down here for others that might be in the need to change it:
Being rooted I changed the contents of /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl . You might want to backup that file in advance.
Look for the assignments of buttons 158 & 139. Change those two around, reboot - et voila: Left button will be your BACK button, right button triggering your RECENTs.
Thought it might be interesting to someone, since that option is not available in most ROMs anymore.
joha
Its not reversed, infact it is the right position,
Thanks , will tinker with it later

Pie update minor annoyances fix?

So I updated to Pie today since Verizon finally got the ota live.
But I have found 2 main things I dont like. The biggest one is the apps that appear under the close all button when viewing your recent apps (see pic). Is there a way to remove those? Also the action if swiping up to close an app not something I'm fond of but could get used to
Next is the clock. Is there a way to move it back to the right hand corner? Makes no sense why they moved it to the left side.
I've searched through the settings and went through everything but didn't see anything to solve either of these things. Is this possible or do I just need to get used to it because its there to stay?
I haven't seen any fixes for the recents panel, but Goodlock can move the clock.

The common theory is that the clock was moved to the left in order to accommodate phones with notches.
Here's more detail.

Open recents and look at top right side, there is 3 dots menu, press it and go to settings, turn off recommended apps - this will remove the apps below the recent apps cards. For the second clock part, good lock 2019 can move the clock. It's from samsung, on the samsung store for some countries. If it's not, then you need to sideload it as your country is not in the whitelist. It's 10 apks isntall + small program to access the modules called nice lock (from playstore) that is developed by fellow xda senior member. There are enough materials on the web for good lock 2019 and how to side load it. There also you can change the recent menu style + return some of the multitasking abilities and whatnot.
