Hi guys,
Good day to all. I just bought an Huawei P9 - EVA-L09C440B138 and i'm having some issues with updating to Nougat.
As far as i understood i need to change from C440 to C432 to get Nougat.
To be honest.... i simply could not find a solution for my problem and i need help from you guys with a guide how to do that.
Can someone give me a solution.
Thank you!
A shot in the dark here, but you can try downloading this ROM:
http://www.carbontesla.com/2016/11/download-huawei-p9-b182-marshmallow-update-europe/
You will also need an SD card (if you already have one, you can use that)
- Once you have done that, extract it anywhere.
- Connect your phone to your PC, allow access so you open your P9 storage from your PC
- Copy the "dload" folder over to your SD card (so you have a folder on your sd card called "dload" with UPDATE.app inside)
- Power off your phone
- Hold down both volume buttons and power button at the same time
It will either go into recovery mode where it installs the firmware EVA-L09C432B182, or fail doing that...
If it manages to install B182, you can just update your phone to android 7 normally from settings. If it fails you probably need a different ROM, but I dunno which.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-debranding-to-c432-updating-to-t3551523
One of the top threads for the Huawei P9.
A bit research should have done this.
You will find most needed files in my signature.
I just managed to update from B138 to B142, but i couldn't go to B380.
Please keep in mine that mine is C440 not C432.
I used also Profy Finder and so on.... now i'm stuck to B142, any sugestions ?
Thanks
P9 - EVA-L09C440B142.

Hi all P9+ experts,
after using officially updated N(B370) firmware for about a month I decided to rollback to M(B202) on my L29C636. I used official Huawei Rollback Package which incorporates 2-step rollback: first to intermediate C900B300 followed by whatever official firmware you chose(in my case the last M which is B202 - downloaded via Firmware Finder as update.zip). I followed the instructions by Huawei, both steps of rollback were completed successfully but somehow the phone doesn't seems to behave properly.
The most obvious would be some ugly icons which I definitely didn't experience on B202 before I skipped to N. Therefore I tried to change them together with the theme - unsuccessfully! The phone doesn't react on applying new themes, icons or whatever. This is very annoying and makes me question if there will be some other hiccups which may not be seen on the first sight(unlike themes, icons etc.). My phone has never been rooted or bootloader opened.
This made me dig a little bit more into the issue and I have two questions:
1) when pressing DOWNLOAD button on FullOTA via Firmware Finder, it allows me to download 4 files - update.zip, update_data_full_hw_default.zip, update_data_full_hw_normal.zip and update_data_full_hw_spcseas.zip - what is the use of each of them?
2) did I do a mistake flashing only the first file update.zip and was I supposed to flash the other 3 files too?
I would appreciate your advice in this matter and thank you very much in advance for all suggestions and information.
With kind regards
Tomas

Thanks for your reply. And how will I do that? Does it work the same way as update.zip - with a 3-buttons press and spcseas file in dload folder on sdcard?
Yes same way to flash data files. There is also update.app file in zip. Extract all files to sd card and use dload method.
Hi there, I am also a P9 plus user and suffer from what you are suffering now in EMUI5.
So yesterday night, i decided to rollback to android M. Thanks to your post, I saw the problem coming after restoring the UPDATE.APP from B202.
So I take a different path and get everything back to normal including themes and icons. Please let me share it to you.
I am having a P9 Plus VIE-L29C636 device which I believes is the same as you.
The step taken to go back to android M.
0) Flash to intermediate version.
1) then I rollback the device using the VOL UP VOL DOWN POWER button to B180 (you can download the update.zip from FF, xtract them and put to Dload folder).
2) Now i am having the issue like you. Stupid icon and no themes and when themes apply, it will not reflect.
3) Then I download FF and FF proxy in the bugged B180.
4) Using FF and FF proxy, update the phone from B180 to B202 (using the Software Update in the phone itself.) - You can refer to other thread on using this. eg, changing ur wifi to localhost:8080 proxy.
Note : Please make sure you see a total size of 1.9XGb file. How to get the 1.9Xgb file ( Hit the menu > Download latest package [NOt the update now]).
This will make sure that your phone install the update.zip including the update_hw_specseablah.zip thingy.
5) After your phone is restarted, you will see welcome screen with correct themes and icons because the other zip file was flashed.
6) Do a Factory reset on your phone and ur stupid phone will become a marvelous one.
P/s : No bootloader unlocked or rooting path had been taken here. All bootloader still as original
Please let me know if I can help.
Regards,
JH

Dear Coffeemoney,
thanks a lot for your reply - I am glad you were able to fix the issue with your fantastic P9+. I was very happy and excited when I read your reply yesterday because I thought I will be able to replicate your success with restoring the MM to fully working one on my P9+ too but I was not successful.
The whole procedure works fine until the actual flash of the downloaded package - after downloading via FF when the phone reboots to start flashing the package, first it starts to verify the package installer and after few seconds it says "Software install failed! Failed to check the update package. Please download the package again!". And thats it - Game Over! Tried several times different packages with the same result. I really don't know where is issue. Any idea please?

I have a few question :
1) Are you in B180 now?
2) Did you use FF Proxy to download the B202 firmware?
3) what is the size? can you provide a screenshot?

FIXED NOW!!! I think the problem was the downloaded packages may have been corrupted due to sketchy internet connection - I just went to the internet coffee with really fast and stable internet, downloaded the B202 via FF and this time the flash worked perfectly! Thank you very much!
Excellent Job coffeemoney, your information was vital to bring my MM back to fully working condition and I am sure it will help others who are or will be facing the same issue too. I will copy your solution(with credits to you) to HuaFan forum too so it's easier for others with same issue to find the solution.
Once again thanks a lot for your help - I love my P9+ again. It's excellent phone and I hope they will finetune the next N firmware properly so the battery and other stuff is as good as the latest MM is.
Cheers, best regards

You must be using it quite heavily then - with MM I'm charging only once every 2 days but with N I had to do it every day. So in my case normal battery time is around 48 hours with 6hrs SOT or if I'm playing games a little, watch video and browse internet a lot it's 24 hours with 8 to 9hrs SOT. That all using 2 SIM cards. No other hi-performance smartphone I've ever had has come even close to P9+'s battery time. Fantastic.
in the last few weeks, my Huawei p9 had many problems cuz of the last update!
my battery drain was increased, also the mobile shutting down when I used the camera even if battery more than 30%.
i thought all of those problems cuz of update not the battery, when I searched many times I found many guys written the same problems!
i contacted Huawei customer services, they told me that Huawei removed all software from their sites cuz of wrong use from some customers
here are how to Rollback your device without any problems.
1) First, download Android Nougat Rollback Package for Huawei P9 from here
middle east http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=91646&version=357962&siteCode=kwen
europe http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=91727&version=358124&siteCode=nl
2) Now create a folder dload in the root of your SD card and place the update.app file in that folder.
3)Now turn off your device.
4) Now press “Volume Up + Volume Down and Power Button” together. The update process will start automatically.
5) Now wait for some time to complete the process. Your firmware version should now be on “B300”.
6) Now download the full Marshmallow firmware from here
middle east http://huawei-firmware.com/rom/huawei-p9/eva-l19/324
or you can choose your eligible software from here
http://huawei-firmware.com/phone-list/huawei-p9
7) Now move the update.app file in SD card folder (Replace the rollback update.app file).
8) Now again press “Volume Up + Volume Down and Power Button” together to Downgrade Huawei P9 from Android Nougat to Android Marshmallow
9) Done.
This is the complete guide to Downgrade Huawei P9 from Android Nougat to Marshmallow. If you have any questions comment below.
This will be helpful. I have some question.
1. In number 2 do you mean to unzip the files and put the dload folder to sd card and leave update.app untouched?
2. And can you elaborate number 7 please? Is it the same update.app in number 2 and do I need to replace it to the downgrade firmware?
3. And is it okay to downgrade when my phone is currently network locked? Will it affect my phone or should i have it unlocked first? Btw my bootloader is still locked and I have no root.
I love you man! I nearly gave up! Thank you SO MUCH!
PS- Can we update the phone after rolling back? Or Will the OTA updates brick my phone?
It works indeed
Many thanks. It works perfect. Il had to use Hisuite to move the file in dload.
Now I get a notification asking me to update to emui 5. Ik don't want to do so of course but I can't stop the notification. Has somebody an idea ?
Don't understand guy.. am on oreo and never had any problems ..
Hello,
If I do the downgrade, will I lose my pics on my phone ?
Thanks for you feedback.
Reset Netwrok Settings
I was having the same issue ( sudden power-off when using camera or apps that use location), as well as the battery draining very fast.
I followed the steps suggested by Huawei to reset the network and (so far) it apperas to have resolved the issue. TBH its only been two days, but so far its looking good and did not require me to rollback or perform any other intervention. I'm too new to the forum to post a hotlink so you'll have to cut and paste it.
I hope it helps!
Oh god, thank you so much! u did the depression leaves me. I love you man <3
Hi every one. I can't find solution to my problem so I decided to ask your help.
Few days ago I read that I can update my Huawei p10 to android pie officialy through Hisuite. Scanned for update and it said that I'm on the latest android which was emiui 5.1 so I started to look for a way to force it and found solution (will be posted bellow).
After it Hisuite found pie 9.0.1 update and after downloading the files it started installing it. After that it loaded 100% and rebooted, then rebooted again and again and again... shortly realised that it's bootlooping. Tried to turn it off and yet it kept bootlooping, took it apart disconected battery and hopped to enter recovery mode or fastboot, boot as soon as i plug the battery in and put usb or power on button same thing continued and i can't enter those modes whatever i do. Can anyone help me with this?
Oh yeah, I've tryied this methode on mate 9 pro from 5.1 to 9.1 and it worked flawlessly, then right next after that I attempted p10. Also i think i didn't do anything with firmware finder couse i saw update anyway.
Also on backup photo Details it shows build VTR-L09C432B171 ithat was before me trying to update it
Update methode

2. Download and install HiSuite9.0.2.304, BUT NOT RUN:

Once again, make sure it is permitted, registers the update for eRecovery.
NOTE: There are two types of firmware: CHN, i.e. for Chinese devices and OVS, for all the rest. So if you do not have Chinese firmware, then you need to pay attention exclusively to OVS.
5. Run HiSuite, connect the device, looking for an update, update, enjoy."
IIm still lost. Is there anything i can do?
I managed to downgrade from 9.1.0.311 to 9.0.0.286 through HiSuite, but I want to downgrade even further, to EMUI 8.1(preferably 8.1.0.152?) as both EMUI 9 and 9.1 have very poor battery life on performance on my phone. I have the bootloader locked and my model is CLT-L09 C432. Before I updated to EMUI 9.1, I was on 9.0.0.270 and the option "Switch to other version" (EMUI 8.1) was available on HiSuite. Now it isn't on 286.
So, is there any way to downgrade?

I'm just in the process of doing the same.
Use DLOAD method to get back to 9.0.0.195, then hisuite will give you the option to roll back to 8. (You'll need a usb-c otg cable) - This wipes the phone, be warned.
Download 9.0.0.195 here:
https://androidhost.ru/T8h
Basic Instructions:
Unzip the package. delete the CLT-LXX that you don't need. (so remove CLT-29 in your case)
copy the files to the SD card. Place the inside a folder called dload. (so you'll have "update_sd.zip" in the dload folder, another folder under dload called "CLT-L09_hw_eu" in which you'll have another zip called "update_sd_CLT-L09_hw_eu.zip"
open phone dialer and dial *#*#2846579#*#* go to Software Update and then select memory card upgrade. (alternatively with the device off press vol UP + DOWN + POWER and hold)
cross fingers and wait while is does it's thing.
Phone should now boot on 9.0.0.195, and hisuite /should/ give you the option to go back to 8.xx.
...You may be able to go back to 8 directly through dload method, but I've done it in two steps to be safe.
Someone else shared these images to help explain better. (Sorry whoever you are, I don't recall where I got this link from!)

Thanks, but do you have that 9.0.0.195 locally by mistake? It seems that on my computer it downloads with 256k/s and it would take 8 hours to download completely.

That's androidhost.ru I'm afraid - it's painfully slow at the best of times Took me about 2 hours to download it from there earlier.
And it did finnaly work, fortunately. Now I am on good old EMUI 8.1 . Now I still have a question, would it be able to disable the system updates app? As there's always the red dot on the settings icon because it keeps telling me I have a EMUI 9.0.0.163 update. And I don't want to update. I turned off auto wifi updates download but I'm afraid to not force update it after some time.

Hello,
you could try to unbrick using DLOAD method.
For files to grab it depend
on latest firmware (android 6/7, emui 4/5)
was your phone running before the brick.
A good guide can be found in
UNIFIED HELP THREAD, post #6.
Feel free to ask if you're not sure
which firmware to choose..
Cheers

Hello thanks for reply.
Exactly it is not my phone. this is my friend's phone. He gave me for fix. So idk which emui and android version was running before brick. I don't think he knows that too because he doesn't understand much of smartphones.
I just know is huawei vns-l31model(writes on cover). And i dont have the sim and sd card's gadget. (It may in my friend's home.)
Could you say which files i need?(And Can i do dload method without sd card? Maybe using flash disk with otg cable. And lastly, how do I know if the image/software file I downloaded is clean. Couldn't a keylogger be embedded in every file I haven't downloaded from Huawei's servers? Last question is a little paranoid, sorry.

Dude,
i cannot say which the correct firmware for you
and you need a PC (or at least another device)
and an SD card to do this.
You have a small possibility...
Reboot the device in fastboot mode
and connect it to your PC.
Open a command prompt and type :
fastboot oem get-build-number and
fastboot getvar vendorcountry.
If you have responses paste them here,
if you have not response i think you
have to bring it to a service point.
Good luck
