Hi everyone,
This is a great site with a mass of info! I've used it before to flash my HTC Sensation a few years ago.
Since then, I've had a HTC One X and now a HTC One M7. Ok, the M7 is 'New' (from China). It's in excellent condition and it actually does appear to be new. So I don't really know what's going on there... But anyway, I'm having issues.
The phone can't seem to keep a cellular signal, but Wifi is absolutely fine.
So a bit about the history of the phone; When I got it, it was on Android 4.4.2 IIRC with super CID already done. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed LineageOS onto it - the latest one. The battery life was appalling and it wouldn't charge. The phone signal kept dropping.
I've reflashed it today with an RUU called "RUU_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_7.17.1540.51.exe" and battery life appears to have improved somewhat.
However, the cellular signal keep dropping. Now, I've contacted Virgin UK and explained the situation and they have said the Sim is faulty and it's old apparently and not 4g. They've since sent me a new 4g sim. I've put it in and activated it yesterday.
I still don't understand why my signal keep disappearing.
I've checked and verified the APN details - They seem correct - "Virgin Media Mobile Internet".
The problem appears to be something to do with "Network Mode" or "Network Operator". Sometimes I've noticed that if I go back into the settings and change the selection, sometimes it seems to see the connection again!
Right now, I've selected "2G/3G/4G auto" network mode with "Virgin 2G/3G" as the operator, but I think that soon, it will drop again!
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone here? Thanks, Antony...
Ok, I've just lost signal now, around 2hrs later... My phone has just been left in my house... I've been checking on it every so often.
If I go to "Network Operators" and choose Virgin, it magically works again!
I have full signal again, calls work and internet works. What the?!?!
It's still doing it.
Apparently, it's because I've got a 3G plan but using a 4G sim. Although, that is strange because even if I choose 2G/3G, it still drops.
Mehhhhh.

Can you post a "fastboot gervar all" output please? You have superCID, which means your phone is, or was s-off at one point in time. Maybe you need to flash a different RUU to get everything working

Hey, thanks for your reply!
Since that last post, I've flashed a UK ROM and it was still the same, in a way worse because it dumbed down some options in network settings. I've since flashed it back to the ROM mentioned above. I've now noticed that the problem is something to do with 3G/4G. If I change the network provider to 2G ONLY, the phone works perfectly with my Virgin SIM.
I desperately want to fix this. My new provider which I've switched to doesn't offer 2G, so I'll effectively be screwed.
Here is the data which you asked me to get!

You flashed US unlocked RUU, but that should work fine. You need x.xx.401.xx for WWE, but, as I said, US unlocked should work fine. I had a similar issue with an AOSP ROM, and I resolved it by manually entering my APN settings. Even though all APN settings looked fine, there were some small differences that caused issues. Not a great help, but you could try it, no harm. If thadoesn't work, it's most likely a hardware issue

Hmmm, ok, thanks. I've already messed about with APN details lots of times.
Ahh well. It seems that this phone is doomed. Maybe I'll just have to buy another.
I'll just give it one more go.
Thanks, Antony

Hi,
I bought my wings about a year ago, and have been a happy user since then. Out of the blue, my device started to loose 3G signal, or it displays full strength but I am unable to connect/call/receive. 2G instead looks fine.
It was really unexpected, the problem came up overnight. I did not install any new software neither have add any change whatsoever. I was still using the original factory ROM (never changed).
Still have the problem, though I have tried everything I can/know. I have even upgraded the device to the new ROM by HTC, which is supposed to improve the 3G connectivity and nope nope nope.
Help would be very much appreciated
Thanks!
btw, forgot to say.
It is likely not a network problem of my provider. I have tried my phone in different areas without any success. Besides, if I test my SIM card with another phone with 3G capability, it works fine. And of course, trying another SIM card in my s730 doesnt solve the problem.
HELP!
There is an official radio update from HTC wich adresses this problem.

thanks. tried twice already and absolutely no change. Right after installing it, I can connect to the 3G for, say, 30mins/1hour. After, the network is lost, or well I do see the 3G connection but I cant call/receive. Trying then soft rebooting, and the phone connects to a 2G network. No way to have 3G connectivity. I am pretty disappointed. I am thinking of swithcing back to nokia. I have already contacted by email the HTC service.
Dunno, anyone has/had similar experience?
looks like I am not alone:

I see this question asked a few times within other treads but wasn't ever really answered clearly in my situation. I have successfully network unlocked my Sprint HTC One. When I put the sim in I get no errors and dialing 4636 brings me to the menu where I can change to wcmda preferred..gsm only... etc.. The phone reads the phone number off the sim and lists it on this page as well. Heres my issue I have verified that phone will cover the same bands where I am so that should not be an issue. I can not get a signal with this phone with 2 different sims. I made sure I did all the obvious things with the settings, the APN's, flashed different radios, and tried different options is the 4636 menu. Ive used different roms as well...When I go to select or search for my network both options are grayed out.... I can connect to Verizon and I can connect to sprint towers but no Dice on ATT. I am currently on version 4.1.2 and have tried all available radios. Has anyone had success in the new York New Jersrey PA area with using this phone on ATT. If so what is the setup you are using.

The Sprint HTC one has blocked the carrier id's for domestic use aka att. You can however if your s-off you can flash the initial release radio the first radio when the Sprint HTC was released and it will allow you to connect to domestic carriers.
I'm in Ohio so not too far from you and I can pick up T-Mobile and att using the initial release radio, it is the only radio I could get to pick up signal.
Here is the first radio released http://d-h.st/HHD
Im currently s-off and flashed that radios. When I select network connection the two options are still grayed out. Could the rom choice make any difference ?

I am having the same issue with my Sprint HTC One. I've tried everything mentioned above and no one has answered. Are you guys still having this issue? And if not what did you do to fix it. I have a Sprint HTC One with S-Off, Unlocked Bootloader, the Radio that is listed here and the latest ViperOne 5.7.0 ROM. Thanks!
EDIT: My phone is unlocked and I have been using T-Mobile for the past month just fine, and want to try AT&T.

I have figured out a way to make AT&T work with the phone. When you place a Sprint or Verizon sim into the phone, it will immediately unlock the network search options that are normally greyed out. I click automatic select and immediately remove the sim and replace it with my AT&T one. Even though the phone complains that the sim was removed, I can click ok, then quickly push the automatic select again before it greys out. I then wait a minute or so until it fails to find a network. I then quickly click the network search option. The notable thing at this point is the only network that shows up is MARITIME. if I click on that, it registers me to AT&T. I have tested the phone and it works great. But it seems to bump me off the network at some point. I dont know if its poor reception or the ROM itself doing it. And if I restart the phone, I lose it as well. So I have to repeat the steps again to get back on AT&T. But the thing to know here is that the phone will work with domestic carriers with no problem. Its a matter of locking to AT&T and staying there. Surely one of the brilliant brains on these forums can figure out how to keep it working. I basically stumbled onto this by playing around with it.

Good job finding that. When it kicks you off of AT&T's network it did that to me when I had T-Mobile as well, so it's not just AT&T. Glad you were able to get AT&T to work on your phone tho, kudos.
As some of you may have read, my phone is somewhat hosed.
I have a new one on the way (which might be a refurb). But I have nothing to lose playing with this one.
I highly suspect, one or more of the bands are disabled.
If you google around you see lots of folks fiddling around with Band Priorities and/or Enabling. Especially with "TirBand" phones (which this is). (Nexus 5 and HTC One, HTC One Max).
Most of the time people access this through EPST using ##4636# but my phone does not respond to this.
But the Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8). Are in new Territory with Spark and even more bands I believe. So their might be new Menus for these phones and that info has not been leaked out yet.
Currently if I'm in a formally strong 4G area I get great 3G (no 4G at all). Yes 4G is enabled.
If I'm in Moderate to Weak 3G area. I get 1x or nothing. It really feels like a Band got shut off.
I'm not sure what caused it.
I was running Corporate PRL (56018). That seemed to not be causing any harm. Ran it for a few weeks.
Ran Barebones 1.0 (on stock firmware) and that ran fine too. After that it was down hill.
My only issue was Roaming Guard was on and Locked out. Which others have reported is a long standing issue (was a problem on M7 too).
All I needed to do was do a Full Wipe and enable it before it gets locked again. Not everyone has this locking issue, but MANY do.
I updated to OTA firmware. Not sure of status here because I had WIFI on normally.
Then I decided to run BadBoys Harman. Without firmware. Again not sure of status here as WIFI was on.
Somewhere I believe I did an Update Profile. I suspect at that point I was hosed.
It was when I put BadBoys on that I noticed an issue because he shows when you are on 1x.
Not sure if I started to see 1x that was before or after update profile.
I don't know if it's combination of having been on the corporate PRL when I did the update Profile or what.
I always try to do update Profile over mobile network.
I was not clear what the problem exactly was until I "Fully" upgraded (Harman with Harman firmware).
Just to be clear, I'm not blaming anyone but me. And there may be nothing wrong with anything out there than more or my phone. I just don't know.
I highly suspect it's something trivial that got turned off or the phone so happened to lose a band or antenna.
But I suspect it's some combination of SuperCID, Corporate PRL, new OTA Firmware or Harman Firmware along with Update Profile hosed me.
I do have new phone on the way. But I sure would like to know what happened.
I didn't do anything "out of bounds" from this forum. I simply may have done things in a different order or something.
I am S-OFF and running TWRP 2.7.0.2
I have reactivated, wiped the gazoo out of it. Ran Harmon RUU. etc.
I sure wish there was an RUU for the Shipped Config. Or even for the OTA version.
Seems a coincidence the phone "Broke" just when I started Flashing Firmware and Updating Profile.
I know I was good on Stock Rooted, S-OFF, Corporate PRL. Because I'd even see 4G at my house occasionally which is a reach. Now I'm lucky to get 1x at my house.
I will tell you this, I'm staying on Stock Firmware and Stock PRL when the new phone arrives until more is learned.
I will try to compare phones as best I can.
Which is another reason I sure would like to see the Band configuration on this phone so I can compare it to the new phone.
Thanks for any tips.
I think you were trying to do *#*#4636#*#* to access the Menu. The EPST command would be ##3282#.
I'd be interested in your comparison. I think I may have a hosed phone as well. I have it on cdma only and I'm constantly losing data, dropping calls, and missing calls in places I didn't before. The only roms I have flashed are Captain's 1.54.651.8, and my BareBones rom.

Thanks when I saw people posting *#*#4636#*#* I stupidly assumed they were trying to get past some HTML issue with ##. *#*#4636#*#* works !!
Turns out when you use the Google Play app called "Advanced Signal Status" when you click "Advanced" it brings up the same Menu as *#*#4636#*#*.
I didn't realize it was bringing up something built into the phone.
Any way,
It looks like on HTC Max it was *#*#3282#*#* which does not exist on HTC One (M8). You have to use ##3282# but that does not offer the same Band settings that HTC Max has with *#*#3282#*#*.
Just a quick reminder that Questions go in the Q&A section.

When and how often have you:
Updated Profile?
Changed Firmware?
Changed from factory PRL?
I think my problems may have started after I flashed Captains Firmware for OTA (which I got the link from you ROM thread).
I'm not saying it was, but it was around that time. It may have been something to do with PRL's but those are usually harmless and very revertible.
I'm 99% sure I was ok on your ROM with Stock Firmware. Except for Roaming Guard on and locked out. Not sure if that is an early symptom of problems though.
Some things in firmware (on past phones) are not revertible (ever !!!)
Your symptoms sound a lot like mine. I only get good 3G in locations where I used to get good 4G. And I get no 4G at all now.
My phone generally works but many calls go to voice mail or get dropped. Or end up being one way (one of us can't hear the other).
I think it's one of these:
Band issue (disabled or low priority)
Some sort of ID issue that got lost (like a lost security Key)
Some of Power Saver issue (i.e. Extreme Power Save kicking in when it shouldn't)
The reason I mention power is it does this.
WIFI On
Running "Advanced Signal Status"
All looks ok.
Shut off WIFI and things go nuts.
EVDO (data) RSSI Signal: drops to -120db (0%)
Then network type switches to 1xRTT from eHRPD.
It's like the extreme power saver is on. Which, guess what, OTA firmware was supposed to enable !!!
I have tried disabling it in settings. But I think something is haywire.
This is what extreme power save does. And came with the OTA update.
QUOTE: Basically it shuts down all connections but still allows phone calls and texts to come through. You can manually refresh e-mail if you want — but only in HTC's e-mail app. Your smartphone essentially is turned into a dumb phone. And to make sure you don't cheat and try to actually make it do things, the M8 gets a new home EXTREME home screen, with shortcuts to the Phone, Messages, Mail, Calendar and Calculator apps. To exit EXTREME mode, you'll need to hit the dedicated "Exit" button.
HTC says that with only 5 percent battery remaining, you can eke out 15 hours in this EXTREME mode. On a full battery? It'll last something like a dozen days. We'd consider this to be more of an emergency mode than EXTREME, however. END QUOTE
It sure feels like this is what my phone is doing. I think it's stuck on Extreme Power Save mode (in the RADIO only).
I flashed the firmware twice, updated prl many times, never changed prl. Sounds like same symptoms.

I highly suspect it's not PRL. When you say "update prl" I assume you mean from settings -> system update menu.
I suspect firmware. Of which there is nothing available to go back to.
Can you get 4G?
I rarely get 4g, it hasn't been fully implemented where I am. I got it on my gs3 only sometimes. And yea, updated prl through settings
---------- Post added at 08:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:18 PM ----------
I'm definitely going to a Sprint store. I was just on Sprint chat and they confirmed it is not network related but a defective device. Dammit.
This is what extreme power save.came with the OTA update.
HTC/Sprint removed the band priority section from the menus in the Max so it's either hidden deep OR it's not there and Sprint is controlling what band you actually use on their end which is highly possible....

Ahh, thanks for the info. I think that's what is messed up on my phone some how. Some Key or ID so it knows the appropriate ones to pick.
I've been switching back and forth on firmware and flashing mainly between Viper Rom and Bad Boyz H/K Rom without any issues at all. I had one issue where I couldn't get data or roam, I temporarily fixed by flashing some stock files, but since a clean install all has been well. I've updated profile and prl quite a few times without any issues so far.
I don't get lte at home, but it worked great in Indianapolis over last weekend. Just thought I would share the info.
Also s-off and super cid if that helps any.

That's interesting you lost Data / Roam and managed to got it back. Perhaps if I had put the dialer on like you did at that first problem I would have got it back too.
So you are running H/K firmware as well?
I've made it as close to stock as I could including recovery. Went to 4G area (where I can get 3G). Factory Reset (from boot loader), Redid Activation, Updated Profile/PRL etc. All worked (albeit slowly).
But still no 4G and no 3G when in normally 3G only areas.
Then I tried running H/K RUU back to back twice. Still stuck.
I may try RUU one more time, then try reactivate/profile/prl again in the 4G area.
Is there any need to change hboot? I have left what the H/K RUU put on there sometimes and other times used the one posted here that removes the red unlocked text etc.
The only thing I've messed with on hboot was the mask to remove the tampered text and red text on boot screen.
Yeah I was the one that sent you the message about losing mine until I flashed stock phone apk. But you said it didn't work for you though. But after I did a clean install of the Rom I haven't had any more issues luckily. Hopefully your replacement will work a lot better for you. Maybe just got a bad phone hopefully.
Yes I'm back on H/K firmware again. I went back to old firmware when I flashed viper a few days ago.

Maybe I need a round of Viper to fix it
Hey, thanks for clicking my post. TL;DR Since updating from ARHD 40.3 to Viper One 6.2.0, my radio has been having major intermittent issues. I have a HTC One m7_ul unlocked outright from Optus here in Australia. It is as of right now running the latest firmware linked to by the Viper One/ARHD threads, the latest TWRP, is S-OFF and superCID, running Viper One 6.2.0.
Symptoms:
1) No signal most of the time.
2) Signal appears to return during periods of movement (e.g. driving).
3) Even at full signal, there is no mobile connection (no data, no text/calling).
4) Once every few hours, when it has signal, it will gain mobile connection for a short period of time, after which it will cut out again - repeat to 1).
Here's a short story about how this came to be:
For many many months now it has been running just fine on stock firmware, rooted with S-ON running ARHD 40.3 (since that version came out).
About a fortnight ago I started noticing issues with my contacts application. Something to do with 501 contact link suggestions and certain contacts having hundreds of Facebook profile entries. This would cause issues in the People app (people just wouldn't load) and the SMS app (message histories wouldn't load, including new texts).
After some troubleshooting attempts, I resolved to reinstall a ROM. I opted to install the latest Viper One (6.2.0) successfully. It resolved my issues. However, it introduced a new one. The next morning I woke up to 4 texts from my service provider informing me I'd missed calls. I had no notifications as such, so the calls never reached my phone. I put it down to tower signal flex in my area. I left and as I walked out the door I noticed I had no signal (no bars, x above the icon in statusbar). Driving around seemed to fix the issue though, it got back up to normal values quickly enough.
However, even though I had plenty of signal and mobile data was ostensibly turned on, I couldn't get internet. I tried sending a text to myself but it failed send. Calls out simply waited on signal and then timed out. Every single other function of the device is 100% AOK (wifi, bluetooth, nfc, etc). The entire ROM is fully functional, can't find any other issues with stability or otherwise.
I put up with it for the day and get home and start troubleshooting. Here's what I tried so far, in order:
1) Change from Viper One to latest ARHD (71.1). Installed with no issues. Booted phone, no dice - no signal.
2) Checked SIM by moving to old iPhone 4 - full signal, radios work. It's not a service issue.
3) Revert to last known working ROM - ARHD (40.3). Installed with no issues. Booted phone, no dice - no signal.
4) Research research research. Think it might be a problem with firmware perhaps. Tried revone, failed because I'm not on 4.2.
5) Flash MaximusHD (11.0.0) in order to make use of revone for S-OFF/superCID. Flashed latest firmware linked in Viper One/ARHD threads.
6) Reboot phone. Still no dice with latest firmware on MaximusHD (11.0.0).
7) Retry with latest ARHD. No dice.
8) Retry with latest Viper One. No dice.
In every single instance, all the ROMs are fully functional except for mobile signal - wifi, bluetooth, nfc, etc. radios function perfectly. No issues with ADB or fastboot during any step of these processes. All my device info shows what I expect to see. I've searched as much as I can, to no avail. I turn to first-time posting here as a last resort to maybe find out what the issue is.
I am slowly reaching the thought that the hardware itself might be the issue. I'd appreciate any insight into what could be causing this - be it software or hardware - as well as if there is any way to test or diagnose the radio physically. Even just a confirmation ("Yep, sounds like your radio's FUBAR"). In the meantime, I'll be using aforementioned iPhone 4 (ugh).
Thanks for reading.
Have you attempted to flash a different radio baseband?
Look up the radio version used in ARHD 41. If you find it, search for the radio within the forums and flash it. You can still keep the most current version of your preferred ROM. Search the threads for how to flash a radio baseband, there are plenty of them.

I found a forum for HTC One radios here, it's in the AT&T section but apparently work on all HTC Ones. I was unable to find out which radio ARHD 41 used, my understanding is that custom ROMs don't usually come with a radio baseband of their own and they don't appear to list any on their thread that I could see. I would inquire but I think there's an issue with new users posting in development sections. Do you think it's worth trying to look further into what radio was used, or should I start flashing radios from the aforementioned list? There's a couple that stand out as possible candidates (the earliest version, the newest version, etc) but I'm not sure I want to just start going crazy on that list until something works. Or do I?
edit: To clarify, and they say explicitly in the ARHD post FAQ, they do not include radio/hboot/firmware in their ROM. So I must assume that I was simply on the stock radio the device shipped with.
edit 2: Confirmed my current baseband matches one of the ones indicated as installed from firmware package. I'm not sure what it was before I updated to Viper One or even while I was using Viper One.
Flashed the earliest radio baseband available from the aforementioned thread. Put the SIM back in, signal achieved, able to send texts/make calls/USSD codes. I was unable to get it to transfer mobile data, however.
Can't believe I didn't think about radio baseband. Didn't even know that was a thing. I just thought it was part of the firmware package. There you go I guess. Thanks again for the tip.

No problem, just remember that if you're having issues with certain partitions on the device, each partition is technically flashable if you are S-Off and SuperCID.

I've tried just about every radio in that forum. They all seemed to have the same issue for me - at first it seems to have no signal, then it gets normal signal, receives/sends any buffered texts, and then fails to work after that for any purpose regardless of signal. I think I'm back at square one; I don't suppose there are any other simple things to try?

If you are having issues still, the other alternative is to flash a different firmware version than what the ROM provides. Firmware and radios tend to "talk" to each other in certain ways, so maybe your firmware isn't using your radio the way you need it to. Also, make sure you are installing firmware particular to your device. For instance, do not install firmware originally meant for an AT&T phone if you use Verizon or another carrier. They tend to write the code particular to these things. I would do some research through the forums and see if you can find a good combination in your area that people have tried. Maybe even a Google search will help out if the forums seem daunting to dig through.
And don't forget, the iPhone has a Quad-Band receiver that's capable of receiving cellular signals much clearer. The HTC One, in my opinion, does not match hardware compared to the iPhone. The iPhone will always technically be superior, no matter what opinions people hold to both.
First, thanks again for your patience and assistance.

I was not aware of this restriction. I suspect I may have flashed firmware for a different region. I isolated the Optus firmware RUU numbers and got a firmware package matching, and the android-info.txt matches the device original CID and modelnum. I'll try it soon.
I'm still having trouble understanding, though, how it could have failed in the first place. My phone was S-ON when the radio stopped working; surely changes to firmware/radio couldn't have occurred anyway? None of the ROMs I've touched have firmware or radio included as far as I could tell.
Flashed the firmware appropriate to my region (4.20.980.1). Came with radio. Rebooted, put in SIM, no signal for 5 minutes. When I get signal, texts don't send and calling times out, USSD codes give connection problem errors. Same as before. How likely is it the actual hardware could be damaged? I did drop it on concrete, on the front of the device at the top, around the time this started happening - very shortly before I flashed Viper One to fix the contacts issue. There was no visible damage.

Quick question:
Are you installing your firmware and software without the SIM card in? If so, I would leave the SIM card in and have all the software installed during the process. Damage to the phone should not cause problems for connecting to the cellular network. Have you tried leaving the house, going outside, or getting into a different area to try your signal? Maybe your house is a deadzone and the phone is having a hard time picking it up. My room gets like this since I live in Florida where houses are built with cinder blocks to prevent hurricane damage. It really messes with my signal.

Good ideas, but unfortunately not - every firmware and radio package I've flashed, I've done once with the SIM, once without, thinking along a similar line.
I'm in a known good cell location - coverage in my area is fantastic with my provider (Telstra, usually get 5 bar signal on 3G - I do not get LTE on my plan). I test in multiple places - next to my PC, outside the house, down the street, etc. The behaviour I've noticed is that I have no signal regardless of where I go, for about 5 minutes after booting the phone, after which it gets signal, sends/receives any buffered texts, and then fails to communicate successfully after that (i.e., I get the test text I sent myself, then I resend another test, and it fails to send). The iPhone 4 I've been moving my SIM to has been receiving full signal (as expected) at every place I've been testing the HTC One.
Hmm...
You might have to go into your APN settings to change some things in order to get it to work properly. Go to your Settings, then Mobile Data, then Access Point Names. From this menu click the current APN saved with the phone. After that, it will have you insert some information. Check this website for the specific APN information for your carrier. Make sure it's for your carrier as there is a large list of different ones on there.

Other than that, I honestly couldn't tell you what your issue is.

Tried the APN thing. There was indeed a few things different from the listed settings, but honestly, they were pre-populated with a bunch of Telstra data beforehand when the SIM was in. I made the changes and noticed no difference.
Thanks again for your help. As a last step I will return it fully to stock. After that I suspect my only recourse would be taking it back to Optus and asking if they'll quote me to fix it.
Unfortunately it does seem to be hardware issue from the history of what you have tried and posted.
Use nkk71's guide listed in my signature to go back to stock for warranty but substitute your local RUU/nandroid/etc.

Thanks for the link, that's actually one HTC One return-to-stock guide I haven't seen yet and it looks very concise. Cheers.

Sorry about that, I know having a custom ROM is a lot of fun, but there can definitely be some cons along with it.
Good luck with your phone!
Hello everyone,
Informations
Phone : Nexus 6
ROM : Euphoria OS 1.0 with included kernel
I have a little problem with the phone network...
I have just install the ROM (3days ago) and everything worked fine.
After the first reboot, I had a network problem: no more network (just phone)
Bluetooth is OK,Wifi also ect...
No extra apps installed.
Any idea?
Thanks
Edit : French phone/network (FreeMobile)
I am having issues over here also. My data randomly stopped working on my way down to memphis, randomly would start to work again. I tried a new rom, it slightly got better, but would cut out of data every 5 min. Kinda got it better by switching to tmo in the apn's. Now just installed sinless, and it is no longer working again.
So, same problem and no fix...? :/
Holy cow! I thought I was the only one! I mean this problem really sucks(and I have wasted a lot of my hours trying to fix it), and have been thinking of creating a thread on this problem until I saw yours.
Okay let me start with what I'm on:
N6: 64gb blue
Rom: Stock
Rooted: Yes
Any other modification: No, only think I did was unlock and do chainfire su root.
Network: VZW
I have had this phone since Dec with no issues other than random reboot every so often.
Now to the problem I had, I went out to the middle of MO for a weekend get away (on Feb 14th). The whole time I was out there it showed 1x even though I was still getting LTE speed. Didn't think much of it until we moved further into the hilly parts of MO were I lost service. Thought it was just where we were at, and thought it would come back once we got back to the hotel we were staying at. It never did. It would say "No Network found" only allow 911 calls.
Spent the next 4 days working With VZW with several trips to the store, and talking to tech support. They made sure my IMEI was not blocked on their side. We used several sim chips, they would all do the same thing, quickly connect then disconnect and go back to no service.
So I did a factory reset, still didn't help. I finally did a fastboot flash of 5.0.1 stock again, this fixed the issue. Until I used titanium backup to restore my sys setting. Then it would drop and not reconnect after the reboot. So I did fastboot flash again and it hasn't happened again since last Thurs. I just restored my app's again to make sure it wouldn't fail to connect over the weekend, and rebooted several times. No issues so far, but I called Motorola and they are RMAing me a new one, because I don't have any trust in this one anymore. They are out of 64gb ones, and they will get back to me in a week.
Questioned to anyone who has gotten a RMA from Motorola:
Are their "like new" replacements okay? I got a few from them when I had my droid x, and they were crap. So I wasn't sure if that is still the same for the N6 or not. I have a feeling its not, but just wanted to get other peoples input on that process.
Thank you for creating this thread, and for everyone's time!
Edit: Had the same issue network wouldn't work, however WIFI, Location, Bluetooth would.
Check your APNs..... make sure you are on the correct one, and that both of APN protocols say IPv4.

APN is for Internet(3G) and MMS, no?
Because we have a phone network (call & SMS) issues.
On my side, APN are OK, but still don't work...
Edit: New !
Everything works fine on :
- Paranoid Android 5 Alpha 1
- Chroma (Latest)
But not work on :
- Euphoria
- Stock ROM
Edit 2 : It works now !!
I seen that I had several issues around the APN side. I mean, I can't add APN, sometime I can. Sometimes APN reseted themselves, sometimes it was OK. Then, I had read the solution above: security tab.
I had just remove my 3rd party lockscreen (HiLocker). Restart the phone and voilà ! After the reboot, my phone ask me the pin code, and all APN are here.
I hope it can help...!
Some times I will see the APN settings, and sometimes I won't. Right now I don't. When it does show up it shows VZWINTERNET selected. There are ton of other options, but they don't work either when the problem was seen.
Is what your experiencing data going in and out? I'm on Sprint and I thought maybe it was just an issue with Sprint. I have or need to read up more on APN because it does get bothersome. I even have issues where sometimes my SMS gets hung up for minutes in sending mode before they actually send. Would be nice to have this corrected.

The thanks should go to @Circaflex though... he told me how to fix my issue and thought it could be useful here. I'm glad it was.

No my whole problem was that it would drop and no matter what I would do wouldn't reconnect to the network. I tried a lot of things to fix it (see above). APN would appear and then disappear from the menu. Right now its working on the network as of last Thurs. and APN options is not there.

The APN option will not show for a CDMA Carrier, Sprint or VZW, in your case VZW. APNs are set by the Sim from Verizon so you shouldn't be messing with those, nor should the option show up under mobile network settings.
It was like you. Sometimes network was OK, and sometimes, it was down...
So current working theory is that it was a software issue that cause the problem. I'm just unclear as to why it happened, and how to stop it from occurring again . I do have OpenDNS enabled on the phone, could that cause the problem?
Heres my problem, I'll drop out of an LTE zone, and 3G/HSPA will come on line. Only if its on 3G I never get any data, and sometimes with HSPA too. Not until LTE comes back on line again, but then if I'm trying to stream say music 3G/HSPA wont let LTE take over again for a pretty long while.
