Hi,
When migrating from stock to custom ROMs, I wanted to keep the stock boot animation but the format wasn't compatible (.mp4 instead of .zip). I didn't find it here so I made a .zip bootanimation from the video.
Please note that there is no sound in the .zip file as it's not supported by Cyanogenmod, LineageOS etc.
All credits to Verizon for the original video (I guess) !

Instructions:
1) Download: https://mega.nz/#!Qzhn2IIJ!yXXhxqlRZ0FB86656CeVPT6Y9RsYO__px8_bHs3Z-QQ
2) Rename to bootanimation.zip
3) Put it in /system/media
Edit: This is the Verizon Droid Turbo bootanimation. Maybe it's more related to the Droid Turbo (XT1254) forum, but it's still fully compatible with Moto Maxx. Most of unlocked Droid Turbo users are on the Moto Maxx forum, that's why I accidentally posted it here, sorry.
Hello
I have XT1254 from FW lineage 14.1 (android 7.1)
Unfortunately, Bootanimation does not work.

Hybrid kernel means the core although still has the 3.4.0 kernel label, it has incorporated many advanced features available only on Linux 3.8+ and beyond. I have backported many of those advanced features for Linux 3.4, hence the name hybrid!

No, I've asked Moto already and they said they are in Xmas shutdown and the source for KK won't be available until next year. You can back up your boot.img and give it a shot, if not then restore.

Faux, can you say if the Moto G hardware would ever support doubletap2wake or sweep2wake?
Works perfectly on a German retail XT1032
Thanks!
I wonder if we can correct the blueish screen with this kernel. Then we'd have a perfect screen.
can you add this to your github?

I can't believe I am using a faux kernel like I did and do on my nexus devices on the moto g. It really starts to get fun! And I thought I downgraded....
The way I see it, this device is dev friendly with the cheap price tag. Its a "might as well" device. Unlockable boot loader on a moto device is where its at. I've had many moto devices and the hardware is always well put together.

(Note: This MOD is US Cellular Electrify M / XT901 specific, but I figure enough of "us" come looking here for help so I'd share here.)
Electrify M ROM Converter
After months of "hand editing" every XT907 based ROM I flash to my Electrify M, I have finally decided to make a flash-able zip to do it.
What it does:
-Installs USC specific "eri.xml" and "apns-conf.xml".
-Installs USC specific "libs" to have a working voicemail notification.
-Edits "build.prop" to have working SMS/MMS. *(see below)
-Edits "build.prop" to have proper model number and carrier.
-Automatically set RUIM and CDMA/EvDo for "stable 3g". **(see below)
Installation:
-Flash your favorite ROM made for the "unlocked" RAZR M / XT907
-Flash the EM ROM Converter (this can be flashed before or after "trying" the ROM)
-Flash the appropriate gapps.
-Boot your "converted" ROM and enjoy.
I am currently using "PhilZ touch recovery" and didn't have any issues. TWRP should also work fine. CWM may need "/data" and "/system" mounted prior to flashing.
ROMS TESTED (as of 01/04/14):
-CyanogenMOD 11
-SlimKat 4.4.2
-OSE ROM 4.4.2
More to come...
-Addition of "LTE Helper" ***(see below)
A big thanks to those over at TeamUSCellular.com for testing, especially user @815turbo from over here. And of course, thank you to everyone over here at XDA-Developers creating ROMs for the XT907.
* It seems working MMS varies from ROM to ROM. More testing is needed.
** This will provide "stable" 3G service. Do to incompatibilities with ROMS built for the "RAZR M - XT907", LTE / 4G is not stable on the EM.
*** LTE-Helper not currently included. In my own testing, I did have working LTE using the helper, but experienced what I felt was excessive battery drain. As LTE-Helper progresses, it will be considered for inclusion.
Good!thanks!
great working! many thanks

This is the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Bootanimation for ALL SAMSUNG devices. This will work on ANY Samsung device that is at least Rooted and uses QMG bootanimation files. Keep in mind that this is not a flashable zip, if unfamiliar with how to manually install these files and set permissions see my instructions gif. Also, keep in mind that this QMG format system that Samsung uses is old school, it has not been updated or supported in over 3 years, so please do not ask me to make this bootanimation more fluid. Nice work! Just some feedback... animation frames are way too low (if you are aiming for the stock smooth looking one). On the S6 the bootanimation looks blurry and overwhelmingly big IMO.
EDIT: Sorry, I read the OP more carefully, I didn't know this can't be changed. But I've seen some S6 roms with the Samsung bootanimation running with modified and smoother frames.. hmm
@KachowPow Great job on this!
Thanks for the feedback! I've added a 2nd version to the OP. This one is not as large, it does play all the way through, you should notice a quick Android bleep at the end of the playback as a result of the bootsamsungloop.qmg file. None-the-less this one should present better.

DISCLAIMER: As always, flashing any ROM -- stock or custom -- is done at your own discretion, prerogative & inherent risk. If you blame me for bricking your device I'll laugh at you whilst spitting my Redman Chew into an old rusted Folgers Coffee can.
The following download link is for the most recent build of Stock 6.0.1 Marshmallow for the Sprint compatible xt1548 Moto G 2015 variants. Again, this ROM is a pure stock build. It has not been pre-rooted, debloated, etc. Although minimal, the baked in bloatware apps are included. This ROM is in TWRP flashable zip format. You will need an unlocked bootloader and a current version of TWRP custom recovery for Osprey. (Preferably, @squid2's TWRP v3.0.2-r5 should be installed) Guys be sure and hit the Thanks button on Squid2's thread (link below) for his hard work and developments skills on these great TWRP builds for our Moto G3 devices.
INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: In the event that you have never updated your Partition Index, Modem and Radio Firmware to 6.0.1 Marshmallow, it is highly recommended you flash my Updater.zip from the below link prior to proceeding further. I cannot say with certainty that it is absolutely necessary, I strongly recommend doing so for optimal performance and improved network signal strength/speed. Once your Partition Index has been updated, there is no reverting it back to its prior configuration. That's not a negative thing, but I wanted to articulate it nonetheless. This also does not mean that you can't downgrade your stock ROM at a later time. (Just avoid flashing gpt.bin in the firmware package to which you wish to downgrade. Also avoid bootloader.img when downgrading stock firmware.)
1. Download the 6.0.1 ROM from the link below and place the zip file on either an external micro SD card, or on the internal storage of your device;
2. Boot into TWRP recovery by first powering your device OFF. Then, hold the Power & Volume Down buttons simultaneously for 3 - 5 seconds. Release both buttons when the Bootloader Menu appears on screen. Use the Volume Up or Down buttons to navigate to the "RECOVERY MODE" option, then press Power to select. Should you need guidance or detailed instructions on installing TWRP custom recovery, refer to the below link for @squid2's TWRP thread, which provides a comprehensive tutorial on installing TWRP on your device, as well as a Downloads Tab, where all of @squid2's TWRP builds can be found.
3. Make a full NANDROID backup in TWRP before proceeding with this installation;
4. Perform a full wipe (Dalvik/ART, System, Data & Cache. (Be mindful to not wipe Internal Storage in the event your flashable zip is stored there). Select Reboot then Recovery. (Sometimes necessary for /data to properly mount after wiping);
5. In your TWRP Main Menu, select INSTALL, navigate to the location of your flashable zip, select it, and swipe to commence with the install. TWRP will flash your device with the stock boot image and stock Android OS. Wait until the TWRP progress window indicates "Done";
6. Wipe Dalvik/ART & Cache
7. Select Reboot, then System
8. Allow up to 12 minutes for the initial boot. Subsequent boots will occur much quicker;
9. Should you want superuser access on this stock ROM, download @Chainfire's SuperSU v2.79 from the below link. Download the flashable zip version from the OP & flash it via TWRP subsequent to successfully flashing the stock ROM. Be sure to hit the Thanks button on @Chainfire's thread for his superb work in keeping us Android enthusiasts rooted.
10. Eat Right, Live Wrong, & Prosper.

Making a TWRP flashable zip ROM for your device would be tough since I don't own that variant. If you can get a system folder and stock boot image ready for a zip, I could probably lend a hand on the updater script in META-INF.

I can't make a proper Nandroid via TWRP because I don't own that variant of the Moto G3. If you or one of your acquaintances who owns your variant can send me a Nandroid backup of the /system partition (system.ext4.win), I can provide the stock boot.img and the META-INF with Updater Script.

I will see what I can do. The ROM will need a couple of testers who own the device. I'll get a copy of the original Toolchain source code to try and modify the modified build back to mostly stock. The January 1, 2017 security patches can be implemented in as well.

Hi, today I ported the Moto G5s Plus boot logo and boot animation to Osprey.
READ BEFORE INSTALLING
This was tested on XT1543
UPDATE: Now the bootanimation with sound is compatible with custom ROMs also.
The boot logo should be compatible with any ROM.
UPDATE 2: Not working on Oreo ROMs.
HOW TO INSTALL
You just flash these zip files through TWRP (latest version recommended). That's it.
Hope you like it!

It should work as both ROMs use MP4 videos as boot animations. If you test it please tell me your results so I can update the first post, thanks!
Now working in custom ROMs
I managed to make the Bootanimation with sound work on custom ROMs by adding the proprietary MP4 binaries to the zip file, now the bootanimation is fully working.
The files were updated in the fisrt post.
Tried on LineageOS 14.1.
