I have a problem with MMS on LG G flex D955 ( stock rooted android 4.4.2)
I don't know if this is a bug in system or it is because of root as I did not try sending MMS on clean system before root (my bet is that the android is a problem). It was rooted with kingroot as Ioroot failed for unknown reason. I rooted it only to clean few unwanted apps.
There is no way to send or receive MMS, 4G is working, data is working, APN is ok I also tried to rewrite it with an app for APNs but with no luck.
Tried over stock sms app and over textra, WIFI on and off, I really don't have any more ideas how to fix this problem it looks like some random bug.
only option looks like is to flash stock recovery and try again from zero. Now here I have two options:
option 1:
unroot and then factory reset
option 2:
long way:
unlock bootloader - install TWRP - flash stock ROM
this is the only link that I find: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760805
or does LG have any tool for this?
the safest way i think it is over unlocking bootloader, but I have very little experiance with LG. so pointing me in the right direction can help me a lot

I have a stock vs980 and am trying to decide whether to root or not - I really only want to remove some status bar icons and swap the menu nav button for the recent apps button and can't find any way other than root to do so. The problem is that I read in one of the root threads that there are messages popping up about modified files and viruses and that certain unknown apks needed freezing / uninstalled to stop it. This is obviously big red spying on us to see if we root so they can deny us warranty. But if anybody has a list of apps involved that I could delete via adb while rooting I think I may take the plunge.
So what I'm asking is - Which apps need to be removed to prevent the warnings?

Not sure what you're talking about, I rooted the stock KK rom with ioroot25, installed busybox and I had no issues.
is this correct:
I have a stock 980 rooted (iroot19) with 12b and the stock rom. No recovery installed. The ONLY thing I have done is the hotspot fix (changing the two files).
and added Tritium Backup so I could freeze the VZW junk.
If I change the two hotspot files back to stock (I still have the originals, i renamed them) and unfreeze everything, can I do the OTA, and then root again using iroot 19 or iroot25 and reinstall the hotspot fix (i have to have tethering, I'm unlimited). Does the hotspot fix still work with 24a or what ever the new KK is called?
thanks

4.2.2 isnt all that bad anyway!! battery life is amazing and the phone work awsone.. I guess you could call it a grass is greener on the other side upgrade....

Since you are already rooted it would be easier to just go with a custom recovery and flash a debloated version of the 24a ROM - root sometimes messes with ota. If you just want to do it by ota then you need to restore anything you changed and unroot .
The app was vz protect (Verizon protection and security) it did pop up a "files may have been modified" message when I rebooted after rooting - I disabled the app - but pretty sure big red now knows I'm rooted.

So has it been confirmed that the hotspot fix works with 24a? Even if I reroot and astay with stock recovery?
I have a (previously) rooted D950, and I can't get the OTA At&t update to install. I've completely removed root, and double checked through root checker that it's gone, and the update errors out every time with a message about having been rooted.
I read another thread where some people report being able to retain root after receiving the update THEN downgrading and rooting 4.2.2., then installing the OTA again, but it seems that I jumped the gun and rooted first, which is now causing the install to error out.
Has anyone else experienced this? Found a workaround? Ideas? Totally frustrating.

Here is the link to a detailed guide . Dev hyelton's page includes links to AT&T ROMs.
If you need help with LG Flash Tool:
- Connect your phone with usb to laptop/computer and open device manager
- seek for Ports: COM & LPT, right click onto Android LTE usb port connection, click "properties", click "Advanced", then change port number to number 41, click "OK"
- DOWNLOAD LG Flash Tool and install .exe
- DOWNLOAD MegaLock.zip (3kb), unzipped (7kb)
- Exchange MegaLock.dll in your system folder "LG" with the unzipped MegaLock.dll file that you have downloaded
- Open LG Flash Tool, input .dll file of downloaded stock rom.zip folder and input .tot file of this folder
- Click onto USB instead of LAN, then click "OK"
- Left arrow at the window top should be enlightened now
- Click onto this arrow
- Wait for all popup windows telling milky way download and connections to fail
- Wait then for the check of CRC and .dll files
- One or all ports should be opened, "READY" enlightened
- Disconnect your phone from computer
- Connect again and watch the immediate start of the flashing process
- After completion you must install most of the app updates, update your LG and/or AT&T profile before installing kitkat update.zip
If you'll stick in updating stock rom to kitkat, watch my video on YouTube (it's about LS995 Sprint, but AT&T LG Flex will proof the same installation process):
Visit my blog at http://www.myreviewsofreviews.for the detailed description how to avoid bootloop during the installation of LG Kitkat update.zip via ADB sideload
Thanks, but this is not a fix. Unfortunately, that guide is of no use since his links are still down. Further, I was hoping for feedback from others who have experienced this issue, and found a resolution. I have read that this is also happening on devices that have not been rooted.
I am not looking to flash a rom through FlashTool. I'm looking to fix the OTA error. All I want to do is install the OTA update.

Not sure what you were hoping for but the guide is correct process for your problem. You need to flash back to 4.2, don't touch anything in the way of modifying system files or deleting bloatware, sign into your main Google account, update all your apps...then root the phone and when it reboots look for the ota. I would give it a couple min to setup after flashing back to 4.2 so that it successfully finds the update rather than telling you you're on the most current software. I had your exact problem too, I was one of the first AT&T users on here to take the update I tried everything to
A: retain root with supersu features and some root cloaker programs etcetera
B: factory reset, call AT&T, to get them to push the update again because I just could not get it to successfully flash without detecting suspicion of root.
Flashing back to 4.2 to retain root worked for me over 4 times now on 3 different flex phones (I had some hardware and then software issues on my replacement model)

You say flash back to 4.2, but I am already on 4.2. Never left 4.2. That's the issue. The device is defective. They're sending me a new one.

You didn't understand my post at all it seems, I gave you the instructions to flash back to STOCK which would have fixed your problem. I did accidentally word my post incorrectly saying "flash BACK to 4.2" obviously I knew you were on 4.2, so clearly I meant use the aforementioned guide to flash back to stock then take the update. Looks like you went another route, congrats

Huh? Wut
Not sure where things went wrong here.....
Me thinks some thread cleaning is in order...
Stand-by....
Cleaning finished.
Come on folks, let's relax and take a breath. Sometimes things just don't work and there's little to be done about it. If common known procedures don't work, then hopefully something else will, and just move along to something else.
Or in this case, the device is being returned which of course solves all.
No need for anybody to get all bent out of shape, what started out as being helpful, just took a bad turn somewhere for unknown reasons.
Relax, be cool....

KitKat update on ATT G FLEX running on Tmobile.
This might be a stupid question . I have my ATT G FLEX D950 running on Tmobile. It is on Jellybean . I am unable to pull the Kitkat update and it says "Phone is not registered on network". I am assuming I need to get my phone on ATT network to pull the update. Am I right? is there any other way out ?

Kinda, yes.
I had the same problem. My phone was never activated on the ATT network so it would not recognize it. You have 2 options:
Get a prepaid sim from ATT, use it once and than put your Tmobile sim back in there or ask a friend that has ATT to use the sim for a few minutes. A text or a phone call is all you need.
Worked great for me.
I am running 4.4.2 (24A) after using the LG Flash tool to perform the install of the "official" release via the LG Flash tool. Unfortunately the fact that the flash tool was run on a rooted version of 4.4.2 meant that while the flash seemed to succeed completely the newly unrooted 4.4.2 still has the "rooted" status set. I haven't been keeping up with all the developments lately but I really want to return the phone to get a replacement (have the VZW replacement servcice) since the phone is not picking up GPS (already did AINVAR's antenna connector mod- it should be making excellent connection but still no GPS location for hours), and now the voice connections are dropping and fading out plus the 4G LTE download speed is awful (laptop getting 25MPS, phone getting 3MPS in same location). I will either re-root and do manual changes to clear the status or completely re-flash if I will wind up wiht a clean root flag prior to returning the phone.

Follow the return to stock guide in the general section, it'll revent you back to JB then just take the OTA's to get back to KK.

Thanks very much for the rapid reply! Just wanted to make sure that this will work fine coming from KitKat, and that having done the flash from 24A rooted to stock KitKat VZW release still left me with unrooted phone but "rooted" device status flag? I'll have no problem going through this process but since it takes a while I just want to confirm that the JB downgrade will succeed in wiping out any remnants of the rooting status flag data (I was suprised this survived the 4.4.2 LG flash).

The status is flagged in the firmware, reflashing a stock rom won't remove it. The return to stock process will.
No luck with TOT method 11A stock restore
I followed the instructions for the TOT LG Flash install of the 11A tot file. Checked the MD5, all good and downoaded installed the LG Flash Tool, MegaLock.dll and the LG dev DLL. I place the G2 in download mode and then go to the device mgr and change the Port to COM 41 as directed, so far so good. Now I open the LG flash tool specify the correct DLL file and TOT file and hit OK. Then I get the Flash screen showing the COM41 as the first port and I hit GO / Arrow / Start, but nothing starts to upload to the phone. The phone shows the Firmware update screen with the progress indicator stuck at 0% and the log info box below showing "VUSER B43" and "ROOTED" in red letters as the last line. Not sure if the latest version of the Flash tool or the updated ROM nixes the stock flash initialization? Any help would be appreciated, especially if anyone has personally gotten this situation fixed (root status on unrooted phone) with the TOT flash back to JB 11A.
Action Mode setting?
Oh, I forgot to mention since the procedure for the TOT flash of 11A didn't say anything I left the "Action Mode" on the "Model Config" dialog set to upgrade DL? I am not sure if that should be set to "Board DL" if I am attempting to completely flash back to a full prior firmware release? I'm hoping that is the solution, but don't want to try only to brick my functioning (but problematic) G2.
Pilot Error
Ooops, didn't read fully that once the Flash tool "start" button is selected *THEN* you need to reconnect the phone in download mode. Once I did that it start the flash, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will get me back to JB with a clean slate for "rooted" status.
Update- worked fine after that. Though once I took the 4.4.2 OTA update the first the time the installation said it failed (though it looked like everything went fine). I repeated the OTA update again an hour later and it worked fine the second time. Thanks for the help mjones!
So, I've got a hard task that I cant seem to figure out.
My phone sometimes will say "Invalid Card" When I look at the lockscreen and wont let me use Data.
I've got the L90 Variant and have NOT done the 2nd Lolipop Update which would remove my root access.
My Question is, If I were to flash stock Lolipop and update, would I be able to root anymore?
And If i dont have to, How Do i fix this problem?
My Phone will sometimes even get a Toast Notification saying that android.phone has crashed and then it wont connect to T-Mobile and say Invalid Card too.
Any help?
I would factory reset first (backup your data preferably using custom recovery to get a full backup) to make sure it's not a hardware issue.
You can root with Kingroot, I've used it with 20b and 20c, then used a script to replace it with SuperSU. Or install a custom ROM layer.

Hello all. I Recently attempted rooting my phone, running on 5.0.2, and it seemed to have worked. But then after attempting to use SuperSU to add root permissions to an app, my screen went black, and the only thing visible was the top status bar, which had some animations still running (Like the battery icon filling up or the signal bars changing), but thats it. It wasn't responsive to any of my button presses, and then it shut off. It keeps doing this over and over, and i cant keep the phone on for more than 5 mins maybe 10. How would I fix this? I used this "tutorial". - andromods .com/news-root/lg-g3-g-flex-2-g2-lollipop-one-click.html - (Stupid thing wont let me post links)
I would like to solve this without factory resetting, as I have apps that have data on them that needs to be transferred from one phone to another, and i dont have a second phone to transfer to at the moment.
Thanks in advance.
As far as I know, flashing kdz with LG Flash Tool following the tutorial to "unroot" won't delete your data, but you will lose root, of course. If you don't have custom recovery nor root, there is little else you can do. Do you have adb root (shell)? If yes you can try re-flashing system partition...

I'm very new to this, and probably shouldnt have attempted this without knowing more, so I have no idea what you are asking me. What is ADB root (shell)? I probably dont have it. And I didnt do any sort of custom recovery. But it seems that me messing around with SuperSU (clicking the uninstall root/turning of superuser once or twice) seems to have stopped the crashing all together. Ive been using my phone since and it hasnt crashed. Whether or not that's fixed the real issue, I don't know. And I'm not sure I want to mess with it further. :crying:
