Would this kit help with a broken display? - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I was taking it apart according to the ifixit instructions (no idea why, I just like taking things apart), I accidentally ripped the small black ribbon at the top. That is the digitizer ribbon, correct? Also, I think I damaged the orange ribbon attached to the display. I found this item on Amazon. Would this have both the ribbons I need, and if so, how would I go @about replacing the screen? If not, does anybody know of something that would work? Thanks in advance.

Scratched screen

I have some kind of bad scratches on my screen, I was just wondering if I choose to replace it will I need to swap the digitizer, screen or front case?
Its not causing many problems yet, but in the sun they show up really bad and make things under the scratches kind of hard to see.

The Actual front of the screen is actually the digitizer so thats what you would have to replace, the font case dosent have a clear part its the digitizer
and believe it or not thats probably the cheapest part of all 3 to replace
and if you choose to replace it you can use this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaAe0xWdkzI

Hello, I also have scratch on the screen, but they're not scratch "lines": in the center, where I touch most of the times, I have some kind of spots, like the screen had worn in that point because is the most touched. Anyone with this problem? What it could be?
Thanks!

Check if there's any protection cover on the screen. In case there's no cover and you see the touchscreen was damaged, try to replace it. Someone already have posted youtube link to tutorial. For instance, you can buy a new touchscreen on ebay (i can't post the link)

[Q] HTC ONE, remove top cover

If I want to replace my top cover on the HTC One (because it has been scratched, and I then want to buy a new top replacement http://www.parts4repair.com/top-cover-bottom-cover-for-htc-one-m7-white/ ) is it possible just to heat it up and then remove it? without opening anything else up in the phone?
Seems possible to do with the bottom cover, but can it also be done with the top?
Also want to know plse, anyone ?

From a tear down I saw here (possibly general section) the top cover can only be replaced after a complete dismantle as it appears to be screwed in place from the back
Thankk you rider !:good:

here is a link to the teardown "http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+Teardown/13494/1"
it appears to be really hard to replace because you have to take the Screen and Digitizer off the casing.

[Q] Full Housing & Screen Replacement

How hard will it be to replace the whole housing & lcd + digitizer?
I'm not worried about damaging the old housing and screen. Only the internals I care about keeping intact.
anyone?

those only show the teardown, i'm not worried about damaging the original screen and housing.
the thing is i want to replace a cracked screen, and if the only damage involved is a mangled rear housing, then i can just replace that too and have a brand new looking phone again.

Ok, cool. Sounds like you have everything under control then...
Read the teardown and you'll see how to replace the screen.

not HOW to, rather if the pcb/circuitry will get damaged in the process.

[Q] Can I replace just the glass?

I have a crack in the glass but the touch screen works fine. Is there a way to just replace the glass? And what glass should I use to replace it?

I have no idea.
I think as with other nooks the glass is fused to the LCD.

Are your sure? I thought so, but it would be cheaper to just replace the glass.

1. That's the HD+ (not the HD, what I have)
2. Didn't have anything about the glass that I found.

A quick search confirmed the glass and digitizer are a laminated assembly.

Thanks. Eo, if I understand you correctly, the glass and digitizer are together (cannot be taken apart), but are separate from the LCD?

Yeah, that's my understanding. For all practical purposes, one piece.

Cracked screen

I recently dropped my Z1 and both the glass and the display are broken. In addition, rear camera stopped working. Did the camera thing happen to anyone with cracked screen? Is it worth repairing or not?
I attached some photos.
Camera thing mine did not happen
I find the camera connector really easy to disconnect soo I think you can try to dissasemble and replug the sensor if that is the case.
And uhh on Ebay you can find glass+lcd together for like 30 usd $ (shipping included) I think it's still reasonable to fix it for that price
But if you want waterproof! Make sure to get a sort of sticker for it!! You need like 3 different ones for the screen. If you are trying to fix the camera, it's 2 kinds. They are usually blue sheets
Mine is broken right now xD I ordered the screen but it did not come yet
btw that's what I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131397630061?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Thanks, but I doubt that the LCD you posted is genuine it seems too cheap and there is no sony logo in the picture. And I am not sure if I would successfully repair it on my own...might as well buy the LCD and have it replaced at the service center.

And the fact that the camera connector is easy to disconnect...do you have any source or you disassembled by yourself and saw it?

It is nothing unusual that these connectors are popping out when phone is dropped. I saw it in a few of dropped phones.
