T813 Nougat Wifi Issues - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I've updated to nougat at factory reset my tablet. Now, it does not connect to 5G networks and on ones I can connect to, the connection is choppy. What should I do? I have not rooted the tablet or unlocked the bootloader. Is anyone else having these problems?

I've heard others having the same problem.
But personally I don't. The tab sees and connects to 5ghz networks fine.

No 5G, intermittent 5G, slow 5G
I'm seeing these problems since the upgrade to nougat.

Update: I got into contact with Samsung Support and it seems that the update breaks the wifi and they need me to send it in

Heard that before

A few years ago they used the same story after an update to the Tab Pro. I didn't send my tablet to them. It turns out that they had failed to update the table of 5G channels to be compatible with the USA list.
I have rooted and installed Lineage OS on my Tab S2. 5G WiFi now works reliably and at full speed.. This leads me to believe that Samsung needs to fix the BQD1 update.

I was able to use Wi-Fi Analyzer from the play store to manually connect to one 5G network, now they all show as usual. Might work for you, might not, worth a try.

I'm having major WiFi problems.

I can't stop having WiFi problems with this phone. My internet is perfectly fine. I've never had WiFi problems on any other android phone, and even an iPhone. Images or screenshots in the play store don't load at all. No matter what I do I cannot get them to load. I take off WiFi and they load fine. I go on my moms G2 to test the play store and it's fine on hers, and same with my brothers. Computers are fine. I've even tried to connect to the few websites they allow at school on their network and they either take forever to load or sometimes I get network errors. I literally don't know what to do. I thought it was a custom rom issue but now I'm restored back to stock and it's still a problem. Instgram connection will time out when refreshing, chrome doesn't load pages, twitter cant refresh, and more. On BlissPop I would turn WiFi off and back on and it wouldnt show my connection again until I rebooted. I dont know if that was a problem with the rom, but it was happening. Any ideas what's wrong? I'm clueless as of know. Don't know what to do anymore.

5G WiFi or just normal 2.4G? There are several known issues with the N6 on 5G WiFi.

2.4G. I found that article a couple days ago. My routers WiFi is 2.4G so I changed my WiFi to connect to only 2.4G in settings, and it's not fixing the problem.

Try changing the channel if you have that option available.

I can't right now but I'm at school, but I will when I get home. What number should I change it to?

From what I've read, it says to avoid channels 12 and 13 on 2.4G.

download wifi analyzer from the play store, it will suggest the best channel so you aren't running into your neighbors wifi
I'm having exactly the same issue. When I picked up my N6 at the AT&T store the setup failed on their wifi, but worked fine once I used LTE instead. I'm having the same issue everywhere, though -- wifi doesn't work 99% of the time. The Play Store will load app names, but the images never show up. Play Music hangs while trying to download songs, etc. Turn off wifi and immediately everything starts loading at the expected near-instant speed.
I've tried reflashing 5.0 (how it came out of box) and 5.0.1, same issue. My wifi is dual band, and neither 2.4 nor 5 ghz works. I've tried it at my parents' house too, which is 2.4-only (and I did the network layout and setup) but still no dice.
If nobody can suggest a course of action I'll be taking the phone back to the AT&T Store tomorrow as a dud. Basically I just wanted to confirm that this isn't some documented software bug that'll be patched soon.

I have a Netgear dual band and no issues with connectivity.

I originally had WiFi frequency band set to 5GHz only and could not connect. I had no problems after changing it to Automatic.

Reboot is always required to use internet.

This is very inconvenient. If I disconnect from WiFi or LTE, then reconnect, apps do not detect the netwoork unless I reboot first. Has anyone experienced this problem or have a solution?

Have you tried changing the Wi-Fi band on your router ?

Never thought of doing that. I don't think that would be a complete solution though, because on LTE the issue still exists; it is not just a problem on WiFi.
Are you using some extreme power saving options/solutions/aps etc etc ?
Change wifi to 4G and try again.

Last nite I installed the OTA update of android 9. Since then the problems have been non existant. I will continue to update this post, and try all the tips I have been offered, if the problem returns.
I found the source of the problem. The VPN I use was preventing the apps from accessing the Internet.

Wifi status:Internet is not available

Hello,
I get the message 'Internet may not be available' when I connect to my works wifi. Anybody has come across it?
The wifi router is an Asus AC-1200 running stock firmware. At home I don't have any issue with Ubiquiti AC Pro access point.
I am running stock Oreo firmware on SM-N960F/DS.
Thanks
Yes and all kinds of other issues like. Tethering to my iPad. Keeps kicking me off the hotspot from my phone. It happened with beta so I went back to oreo. I thought they would fix it in the official release. But no. Back to oreo for me.
If it is work wifi does your device has to be white-listed before granted access?

No, the device does not need to be whitelisted. The wifi works with the screen on but when the screen is off it disconnects from the wifi. Fortunately, I have access to the work wifi AP and i disabled the 'power save' option which seem to have helped.

Wifi problem on s10/+ !!!

My wifi keeps dropping as well, it's getting to the point where I might return to Samsung unless it's fixed in a firmware update!

Same problem started to happen recently with my phone but only with 5GHz WiFi.
Getting the same problem with 5ghz as well, have to shut it off and then reconnect to the router. Their networking coding is a disgrace, tons of complaints about it all over the place and Samsung does nothing.... I can't return my device but if you're still within the period of being able to, I would if I were you. I absolutely hate this device and all its problems.
I"m having a similar issue. First I noticed that LTE would stop working until I rebooted. Then the wifi would glitch up the same way. I'm not sure if it's the switch from one to the other, or what the deal is. The worst part is it's not repeatable. It just seems to do it randomly.
I have encountered the same problem with wifi dropping. I went to wifi setting and forget network and reboot. Punch the password back. Its working fine now. By the way im using the latest s10+ firmware rooted
Hi guys,
I was faced to the same issue since I bought my S10e. DO not mind the solutions proposed on generic sites (thecellguide.com, thedroidguy.com), they're garbage, totally irrelevant (reboot your phone, erase your cache blabla).
I've tried several hypothesis to troubleshoot this issue (very inconsistent wifi connection with my TPLink 4G routeur MR600, disconnecting every minute or so). In fact, tens...
And the final word seems to be, as observed by other users: 5GHz. After disabeling the option on my routeur (switching all traffic to 2,4GHz) everything is fine. For now.
Good luck
Chris (Fr)
I've also had this issue on the S10E where the wifi would be connected but no internet. After a few minutes it would no longer see the wifi. 5ghz of course. 2.4 no problem. I noticed this happened right after login to Samsung account. Now that I'm logged out Samsung account wifi is all good. I'm on the oneui 2 Jan sec update.
I have the same problem with my girlfriend's Samsung S10, it keeps disconnecting from 5GHz. Just now I switched her to 2.4GHz to see if it solves the problem. All our other devices (HTC One M9, 2x laptops, raspbbery pi 3, chromecast, google home) have no problem with the WiFi on either band.
Samsung really has a problem with it's network code, I also had a problem at work with Cisco APs when an Apple device and the Samsung S10 where on the same network it would bring the whole network down. It was some multicast bug where the Apple would announce itself as the gateway only when an S10 was present.
It's happened to me but never until after the last update. I noticed yesterday I was connected with no internet.

Enable hotspot with WiFi remaining on disabled after update

Hi All, I have an Exynos Note 8 SM-N950F. I have finally updated the software to android 9.0, and now whenever I turn on the hotspot, it disables WiFi.
Can anyone point me to a rom or fix to enable both WiFi and hotspot, so I can share my WiFi connection with the hotspot? If not, I assume I have to install the stock 8.0 rom for the SM-N950F?
I'm not sure that's possible. By enabling hotspot, your phone becomes the local wifi for the devices you want to share it with using your data. If you are receiving wifi from somewhere, why cant the other devices you want to use just use that wifi as well? If wifi is available to your phone, I'm not understanding why you have to activate hotspot to provide wifi to other devices when they could just obtain wifi from the same place your phone is getting it from already.

Thank you for the reply! I didn't believe so as well, but at least the Exynos Note 8 had this ability. I could hypothetically be on a plane, join the paid WiFi, and share the connection to my laptop. I used it to join a VPN on my phone, and share with my laptop. I also used it as a network extender while traveling; I'd place my phone in the area that got the best WiFi signal, and use it as a repeater for my laptop. IDK if this is a general android 9.0 disabling, or specific to Samsung, but I need this feature on my phone. The note 8 was close to perfect, except for these software limitations, including the slow charging bug. I specifically imported the Exynos version when I bought it so I could roll back the software if I had to.
Ah , ok that makes sense..
