yep i did the backup ,formated in phone and the computer i think i will return my phone
Did you try another sd card? may be broken. I have not found any problems with mine yet. I used computer to transfer the files, but I can access them from the phone, transfer some pictures from phone to card directly as well and some programs store data on the card, no problems yet and in the past most problems I had were related to Android SD card permissions, not phone's issue and somehow fixable.

Does anyone know why Android would see the sd card as damaged and the card be fine?
Like I turnoff usb storage and then it will not use the card but if I reboot into recovery I can mount it and copy files fine as well as put it in a card reader and it is fine there too?
Any ideas on how to fix this without a complete format?
Happened to me too once. Everything looked fine even in recovery. My pc could recognize files when I mounted and everything. But in phone it said damaged SD card.
I copied all files to pc, reformatted and all is well...
since there is no damage to the card there has to be another way to do it though. That is what I am saying.

Not sure how much your card worth for you but if I where you I would take the 5 minute and remove the card backup and format it...
Flash can easily get corrupted it usually happen when you move the card from one device to another without proper stopping and even for no reason at all!
Can you explain me why you think the card is good if the hardware tell otherwise ???
The first time I rebooted my Nexus One it told me the card was unreadable and offered to format it. Since there's no way (I can see?) to remove the card without removing the battery, I rebooted the phone, put it in my laptop, ran a filesystem check, no problems. Put it back in the phone and booted, haven't seen the problem since.

Because my computer has no problems with card at all. Data can be moved around and read just fine. Just the phone thinks there is a problem. I am guess that something is telling android there is a problem when no other device sees it. That is why I believe the card is fine.
Same problem here, let me know if you've found a solution
i've had that same problem. just fully formatted it..16GB card.
Hey guys,
Did a search and didn't really find an answer.
A couple of days ago my Nook all of a sudden doesn't recognize my HP 16gb SD card. So I took it out, rebooted the Nook and everything was fine again.
Now this morning it doesn't see the SD card again and now it's telling me that the SD card is damaged. I can't even do a Titanium Backup because it can't get to the file on the SD card. Is there anything I can do or is my SD card hosed? I'd HATE to lose all the stuff I have on the card.
Sounds like you are running a bootable SD. Can you boot into recovery if you put the sd in and use power + n? If so you might be able to make a nadroid backup.
Have you tried the card in a pc and is it recognized that way? If so you might be able to pull your last backup file off of the card. It might not be everything you have now but depending on how often you backup could get you most of the way there.
If you can get a backup either way, save it to your pc format the card start from scratch and then use the backup to restore to where you want to be. It is a good idea to make frequent backups and save them to a secondary location (e.g. dropbox or the pc) for this very reason.

No I'm not running a bootable card. The only way I even noticed that something was wrong was when I couldn't access my books with the Nook app. I'll try reading the card on my PC when I get home from work today.
I'm getting the same thing here. 8GB and not booting from card.

Try to find some way of throwing it into a computer. See if a friend has A media card reader and a micro sd to sd adapter. If that doesn't work you might be sol. You should still be under warranty so you can get a replacement. Backing up important information though is a priority though. No matter what, back up

I had the same thing recently. The computer could see the card and even the files at first but couldn't do anything with them. After I gave up on copying the files off the card I tried to format and that wouldn't work either. I hope you guys have better luck than I did.

you mean that, your sd card has some data (images/music/etc) and you cant see them ON THE PHONE? Mounting the SD card should be a good idea but its just to simple to be an error. maybe giving more deatils could help...
As I said before, I can see no pictures on the SD card now.I tried several data recovery program, but did not succeed.
Mmm it seems like your sd card is broken, can you see any other files in it? Because it happened to me with a 2008 4GB SD card that had just a few months ago, it simply stopped working and that's it... But if in your case your sd card WORKS then ive got no idea how to restore data. Anyway I dont find it quite possible if it was erased, then for me its gone forever (except for the recycle bin maybe)
a PRO is needed.. lol
can see other files that I need some pictures, but I can not see in pictures.Do not have a way to it?
Not really idk ANYTHING in this matter, i'm sorry bcz I know why they break, but your case is different. So, you got some pics which were stored in you SD card and somehow got deleted and now you cannot see them in the phone nor the pc. I'm going to search for your problem from friday onwards, not so much time to help you now, sorry, I'll come back as soon as possible
Use SDCARD to USB Adapter then. You can backup all the SDCARD files to your computer
Then reboot to recovery mode, try to wipe all data
My sd card just formatted itself.
Last thing i remembered is that my musics in my sd card, my phone couldnt read it. so i took it out. put it back in the phone, bam the entire sd card got erased.
is there anyway to get those things back? more importantly my photos

Try some free data recovery software. Google it, and use a card reader on your PC to help, but it does not look good.
Thanks for your reply.
Ive actually did that and got trolled by this program. After scanning all the files, it asked me to purchase the program in order to get the files back. I got fed up and reformatted the sd card and start from scratch.
Right now I'm facing one issue. After putting stuff back into the sd card, I unplugged it and the sd card un mounted itself. I pulled it out and plug it back in with restart and all and the phone still cant read it.
Is it the sd card problem or my phone?
Or what else should I do?
Thanks on advance.

There are plenty of good free ones that dont do that, however, if you have now formatted the card all the information is lost.
Which format did you format it too? Make sure its FAT or EXT2, 3 or 4. The best bet is to format it in recovery.
I knew it would be a problem if I reformat it, but I was really fed up certain programs like those. I didn't want to waste time so I chose to reformat it.
My first attempt with FAT didn't work, and tried the others as well.
This morning I reformatted and stick it into the phone and erased every thing on the sd through the phone again. And now it seems to work fine.
Somehow the first few tries the phone reformatted the sd even when I did it through the computer already.
Anyway, thanks alot buddy
Hey all, thanks for taking the time to look.
I recently re-flashed the stock software using RSD Lite to my Bionic to pass down to a friend. It processed everything fine but once it was complete I took the phone off the USB and now it will not recognize an SD card or download anything to internal storage either. Has anyone experienced this?
I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and do another flash of the software or not, or if it's something I can do without having to reset the whole phone for them again.
Thanks in advance!

I ran into this problem as well when I got my Bionic a few months ago, and RSDed from GB to JB. The phone didn't recognize either the internal storage or the micro SD card. After several reboots, the phone eventually recognized that internal storage existed, and gave me the option to format it; I also was able to press the issue more quickly by installing ES file explorer and attempting to navigate the file system, which brought up the option to format. The stock Motorola file manager did not produce the desired effect.
For the microSD card, I eventually had to (after backing up its contents) delete the partition, resulting in an unformatted card; I booted the phone and manually mounted it (settings--> storage, mount SD card), which then produced a prompt to format the card. An annoying solution, but it did work with two different microSD cards. Even though they worked fine in Windows and in an MP3 player, the phone would only recognize them after deleting the partition and reformatting in the phone.
I hope this is reproducible in your phone, and solves the problem.
