I hate the s7. Slow and laggy. Not to mention locked boorloadet. S8 any better?
I made the jump and this device is unbelievably better. Smoothest sndroid phone I've owned since the HTC One X, which was my favorite android phone of all time. After one week of pretty heavy use, no lag. Hate to say it like this but the UI is as smooth as iPhone, minimal if ever stutters. I recommend making the jump. Also the display is as incredible as all the reviews say

I've had S7, S7e, HTC 10, and iPhone 7Plus in last year. Jumped to the S8 (standard, not plus). Absolutely happy with my decision. Easily the best phone I've had. UI smooth as butter with no lags, Camera is fast enough that I sometimes take 2-3 pictures before I actually realize the first press of shutter actually took one (quality top notch as well), Screen is gorgeous, storage is abundant, battery life is good (avg 4hr screen time and 28hr per charge for me), iris scanner works through sunglasses and is great extra security.
Only weird thing is fingerprint location...works best of you're holding phone left handed. I just use the iris scanner anyway. My only concern is protecting the beautiful screen...nearly no truly protective or fully effective tempered glass protectors, but I'll take my chances.
I don't think you'll regret it one bit if you go with it.
If you have the money to blow sure, performance wise you are not going to notice anything. The camera is basically the same, front I believe is 8 instead of 5 mp. It is a larger screen, but the aspect ratio is a little weird. But with larger screen at Max resolution your battery is going to die a lot faster. I think you would be better off waiting till the note 8. If I could go back I would have stuck with my S7 edge and waited for the note 8. Still a great phone, but nothing ground breaking.

I had the note 3 then note 5 and now the S8. I can say the only reason that i would have stayed on my prior phone is because root. There is no root method on here yet and you should stay with S7 until we have root and ROMs to choose from. Here's something that may make your phone snappier:
1. Go to settings
2. Click on Developer tab
3. Scroll to Windows animation scale change it to 0.5
4. Go to transition animation scale change it to 0.5
5. Go to Animator duration scale change it to 0.5
Good luck!

I do not own an S7, however I will say the S8 is an amazing device. It's fast as can be, and very smooth. No lag. I put a black Spigen thin fit case on it.
It's everything it's cracked up to be. I'm delighted about how great this device is. The only issue I had was deciding to get the S8 or plus, and I'm very happy I got the regular SO because I didn't realize how much bigger the screen actually is on the regular one. It takes a little while to get used to but the screen is really big.
The S8 is a monster jump, not an incremental one. Every device, except possibly the S7 edge (due to the screen shape) was an incremental change. Small improvements that were debateable in terms of being worth spending your hard earned money. This device is absolutely worth the jump, and I'm totally satisfied spending my money on this. Honestly I have no idea what they can improve, and what could make me buy another phone. This device has it all. Even the battery life is great.
The only "complaints" people have are annoyances. Yeah, the fingerprint scanner is annoying but you get used to it. Yeah the clock on the always on display is weird and annoying. Bixby is kind of useless. But those are, at best, annoyances. The phone itself is just incredible. For 800 dollars, it better be. It truly is worth the money and it puts a smile on my face every time i pick it up.
Buy one.

You have to find something to complain about with a phone of this magnitude, and of course people will always latch onto them. I have no doubt that within a few months these will fade away in light of the greater changes on the phone. I'm upgrading from an S4, so it's a monumental change for me... and even with Bixby, there is no way I'm not going to be shell-shocked and impressed.
If you're switching from an S4 the change would be jaw dropping.
This phone (S8) is the best upgrade I've ever had in any single electronics device that wasnt revolutionary, like the PC or first iPhone.
Everything is better, and I'm not just saying that. Opening web pages is faster, switching apps is instant, opening navigation is instant, watching a YouTube video, switching to mail, reading that email, switching back to YouTube is just astonishing how quickly it all happens. Just opening this website and typing on the keyboard is flawless and enjoyable, my old phone was laggy and a pain to do a long response on a message board. Not anymore.
It really is amazing how awesome this phone is. Every single experience when it comes to the phone itself is improved. Again, i don't see how they can make this device better unless new technology is needed (such as Bluetooth 15.0). Could it possibly have better speakers? Of course. But I'm worried about things like speed, response, performance and the screen. I just can't see how they can make a phone faster, or the screen bigger. It's almost edge to edge top to bottom and the only way to get a bigger screen is to get a bigger phone, and I don't want that. It fits perfectly in my hand and I have the font tiny and I can read everything clearly. This phone delivers on everything and I just couldn't be happier (the screen is really something to behold, you'll see). It even looks good in the sunlight and it's pretty much water proof! (I wouldn't swim with it but I wouldn't be worried at all to take a picture while it's raining).
They'd have to invent a phone that does my dishes for me to want to upgrade again, that's how good this thing is. It does everything and it does everything well. I give it a 10/10 because I won't hold something like the fingerprint scanner against them, i consider that personal preference.
Don't believe anyone who says this thing isn't incredible. Walk into a store and check out the display model for yourself. It's well worth the money.
I think the question from the OP is *IF* the jump to the S8 from the S7/S7E is worth it. No one is debating if the S8/S8+ is a terrific device, I think we can all agree that it is. (even though I personally do not own one). I have used the S8+ at length, and yes I think its amazing... however, that being said - I choose NOT to upgrade from my S7E at this time. I think I will hold off until the Note 8 and decide then. I think that might help answer the original posters question without offending anyone who does have the S8/S8+
Since owning the s4 i jumped ship to nexus phones. Because touchwiz lag as hell. I sold the nexus 6p and tried s7 edge. And touchwiz lag still there on the s7 edge. Sold the s7 edge and got the regular s8 and i can tell s8 is smooth like nexus phones. And im glad i tried the s8 again. Hhappy camper here

Oh hell yes, I've already jumped ship with the S8. Unfortunately I am studying abroad and won't be able to get back home for a few more weeks -- then I can finally meet my new S8. And yes, coming from an S4 (which poorly survived an ocean drop), I'm practically salivating at the prospect. The camera could have better, sure. They didn't need to include the atrocious Bixby, definitely. But it's such a great prospect upgrading after 4 years... and I'm hoping that it will be good for me for another 4 years at least, if not more. Meanwhile, my friend with a Nexus 6P is already itching to upgrade to a OP5 when it comes out... heh.
Short answer - Yes
Long answer - Jumped from S7 Edge to S8. Have to say this is the best phone I have ever had. I was a huge fan of the physical home button but I rarely miss it at all. The only problem is me hitting the snooze in the morning on my alarm not as easily as with a button. Fingerprint scanner in the back is super quick and not bad at all. That's how I naturally hold my phone for the most part anyways and I have big hands so there is no real struggle. I've always been wanting to play emulated games on my phone and this thing can handle Gamecube games for Dog's sake! I have a Madcatz controller that is great for gaming with phones and makes the torture that is the MBTA go by like nothing. My brother got one shortly after I got mine and he also says it's the best phone he's ever had. He came from a dying S5 Edge I think. We also got both our phones for $0 down and just restarted payments on a new device. Battery life is way better than S7 at this point and I'm about 40% when I leave work usually. As opposed to S7 where I would have to re-charge at about 3pm if I didn't want it to die on the way home. But as with all Androids the early battery life is way better in the beginning as opposed to 6 months to a year later. Time will tell though.
Edit - Forgot to mention the display. I wasn't a display snob by any means but this phone has now made me one. Incredible, especially when gaming. Completely immersive with the minimal bezels and edge to edge display. It's like a floating screen that encompasses your entire field of vision. Twilight Princess, Smash Bros, and FF7 never looked so good.
Yes, noticeable improvement in performance. That weird S7E lag thing is gone and battery is noticeably better. I think back to the first few months with my S7E, it might have been closer but after a year, the degregation in battery life makes the new s8 seem significantly better. That alone is worth it to me.

Just got my not note yesterday. I've been playing and setting it all up today. All the scare tactics of people re: lagging, gaggape etc seem to have 0 merit.
It was fairly simple to transfer data from iTunes (not everything transferred smoothly but I didn't lose any photos etc). Amazingly easy to set up email etc.
I realised all this talk about Note Vs iPhone is BS. The Note is so much better than my iPhone 5 or my wife's 5S. It's incredible how good the screen and camera are. I tweaked it a little after watching some videos so its running even quicker than it was and I was very happy to begin with. There's 0 gap (Samsung must have fixed that issue it looks like they've filled the space with resin possibly? There's 0 lag.
I can't get my one-handed mode to work but everything else is running fine. Even the fingerprint scanner is working perfectly.
I haven't even begun to explore the business possibilities as a Jeweller the Spen is going to be very very handy during design consultations as I can use my note rather than my tablet now (as it's big enough).
Just thought I'd leave my thoughts.
Well surely it is better than last gen iPhones but calling it the best is kinda an overkill. I'm a hardcore samsung fan myself and I love my device but there are things to improve on hopefully Note 5.
Its the best for now even next year the note 4 will still hold its own right up till the n5

The iPhone 6's are just bigger, faster versions of the 5. I've tried them. They don't have a stylus or a 2k screen or 16mp camera.
Sure, there's phones that have individual better features than the Note (ie the Sony Z3 Camera) but overall I think it's the best phone out right now. There's no phones out right now with better screens or more powerful processors.
The best way to get the most out of your Note is learning how to use its features in your day to day.
Samsung has a nice 'key feature' app you can get on galaxy app store.
Anyways the phone's only going to get better with the release of lollipop.

Would you recommend any in particular?
Do we have to redownload apps after the Lollipop update (sorry newbie question)?
No you don't have to redownload
I'm digging it. I traded in twice to get to where I am now, and went through customer service hell the last time I went into the Sprint store. So basically I paid $70 extra in restock fees to get this phone, but it's worth it. My LG G3 was suffering mild problems that I didn't want to deal with considering how much I spent on a brand new phone, and I didn't want to be locked into something I'm not perfectly satisfied with. The only thing I wish is that my phone is was black instead of white. They were out of black models, and said they didn't know when they were getting more in stock. Figured I'd suck it up and take it. I put the black flip case over it - it almost looks like an ice cream sandwich. I'm sure once I root it, I'll be in love with it. Still, I'm not sure how necessary it is for me to root it. I can remove or turn off almost all the bloat without rooting it, and there's really nothing much I feel like I'm missing out on.
The only thing is I'm not sure if I could ever actually use the S-Pen in real world situations to benefit me. I'd like to be able to take notes with it in school, but I'm just not sure how feasible it would be - and is it worth wasting the battery life instead of just using the good ol pen n paper? I tried playing some drawing multiplayer games, but they all seem desolate and empty as it takes forever to find any opponents who are actually trying to play the game. I'm not much of an artist, and I were, I'm not sure how often I'd find it practical to use the S-Pen instead of something else. I just installed the Lollipop keyboard - maybe if I try the new gesture typing with it, I'll dig typing with the pen.
Also, the screen is amazing. The difference between the G3 and Note 4 is night and day. It's great to see a 1440P phone screen not plagued by oversharpening. Games look amazing. The blacks are inky in their darkness. Screen goes 5x brighter than I'd ever need it to. The only thing I have to complain about is no cool 1440P videos preinstalled

I got my Note 4 yesterday so here are a couple things i disagree with, 1- you dont have to buy the fast charging adapter in came with it. 2-using the s pen to write is faster that using the keyboard especially if you have fat fingers like me.
Glad you said this as I have a G3 I'm looking to upgrade to a note 4.
I'll be sure to copy the LG pre installed videos. Those look amazing on the G3. Can't imagine how they'll look on the note 4 ?

I'm planning on upgrading in a few weeks. My question is for folks who went from the S5 to the S6.....
Is it worth it? Can't pull the battery. No SD card slot.
Are you impressed? Pissed? I've done a lot of reading on the S6, but, I would rather hear it first hand from yall.
I came from a Note 4. I am happy with the S6. Have not rooted yet. Just waiting to see more thoughts and app support for 64 bit. Screen is clear and very bright. It's very manageable in my hand. Easy to text. I got the 64gb version
Because I take a ton of pics. I think with a little dev support. This phone will fly faster then how it is now. Do get a case though. I think I cam honestly wait till the S7 whenever that comes down the road. Camera is amazing.
Overall I'm very happy.

Would love some sickness over here.
I will more than likely be here in a few weeks.
also had a Note 4, and pretty much agree with the other poster; fantastic display, ultra smooth and fast,(not using touchwiz), battery is fine after a few days, and the built in wireless charging makes keeping the battery charged a breeze, camera is incredible, and I thought I would miss the ext sd card, but with a 64/128 gig phone, and such easy access to large cloud storage, its a non issue for me.
Rooted easily, not much dev yet, but its only been out "officially" for a couple of weeks, so not concerned about that.
Zero regrets at this point..

Pretty much this for me too.
I had a G3. The stock rom was ok and Xposed tweaks made it better, but development never picked up like I had hoped. When the S6 came out, I sold the G3 and got a regular S6 64 GB. I thought I would miss expandable memory, but I haven't. The G3 camera was awesome but the S6 camera is even better. The screen is phenomenal — it blows everything else out of the water. The fingerprint scanner actually works and isn't some janky wannabe that was tacked on at the last minute. Touchwiz is...tolerable. I never thought I would say that about TW because every other Samsung phone I've owned made me want to flash another rom within a day of using it. TW has been toned down a notch. It won't sway anyone from stock android, but Samsung has definitely taken a step in the right direction. The S6 battery life sucked for the first few days, but then I read about the wifi calling & VoLTE bugs, so I disabled those and battery life has been better. I do miss having a removable battery. I bought wireless chargers for my bedroom and for work, and they do the job. Plus, the quick charge feature really helps. I have gradually changed my expectations regarding battery life. So instead of being irritated that the S6 does not have exceptional stamina, I just enjoy it for what it does offer.
If you typically get more than 24 hours on your S5, then you might make it to bedtime with the S6.
If you are a heavy user and don't want to (or can't) bump charge during the day, then you will probably be disappointed. But if you don't mind plugging in during the day, then I would say go for it.

Bro, luv this phone! Just went on vacation last week with the family took some priceless pictures! Feel, screen, lag free, battery is way better than expected! Just have to keep running the things you use not the things you don't. No different from the s2,s3,s4,or the s5. Went for the plane Jane s6. The edge was tempting, but I'm a diesel tech of 18 years, when I held it, I felt that no case out there would protect my abuse - just too exposed. Extremely happy with this device! Short of the Sickness touch of course! Love some direction on how to donate to you, YOUR why my decision to the s6 from the s5 was so difficult. That aside, IMO, overall this puts the s5 to shame.

I'll be here. Just have to sell my S4. I have a deal with my wife on upgrading. Long story.
Coming from s4 to note 4 now s6. S4 was awesome but now laggy for it's time also battery was horrendous. Not 4 was awesome the battery was amazing it lasted for ever. The screen was so crisp. My only issue was it was tooo big. I found myself fumbling in one handed operation. And my thumbs were pulling muscles. Coming from those devices i feel this phone is unstopable as far as speed/lag. The camera is way better as far as clarity and speed. The quick double press of the home button to open the camera is genius. No regrets accept the larger screen was nice for movies and web browsing but i would rather be able to one hand it. Sd card is no issue with 64 gig plus. The memory is much faster and shows in performance. Battery pull is a non issue with power and volume down. Does the reset just fine. The battery life on the s6 is fantastic. Very close to the note 4. I cant compare to the s5 but i get way better battery life than the s4. One thing I am not fond of is the new TW app drawer. You have to hit an alphabetical sorting button every time you add apps other wise it just adds them to the end. Also you cant scoll through apps past the letter z. It wont go to A. You have to scroll left through all the apps backwords. Also it groups tons of apps by folders, like google apps in one and social apps in another. No way to change it. Yes i know there is nova and others but i liked the old touchwiz the way it was. Nova cant scroll past letter Z either. All in all I think you are going to be very pleased with this new upgrade. I cant wait to see what you can do with it. It will be SICK.

@The Sickness
I never had a S4 or S5 but I saw your rom features, and it looks pretty sweet. One thing though: Is it possible to mod the stock messaging app with option to delay sending sms for a few seconds? CM has this feature, which is the only thing I miss from CM.
Edit: Never mind. Textra offers delayed sending, I will try that.
Get it sickness, this phone is awesome.. I honestly didn't expect to love my GS6 this much.. Best decision I've made, definitely worth the upgrade, the camera is f*ckin awesome.. Touchwiz has been scaled back significantly and not to mention how sexy this phone is..
EDIT: plus the finger scanner makes much more sense this time around lol, battery life was good IMO, when I first got the phone I noticed significant battery drain, but the more I use the phone it seems like the battery life is getting better, the only thing I miss from my s5 is the waterproofing, that was one less thing to worry about, also this phone has a glass back, so I'd suggest you had a case or some kind of glass protector for the back, and a screen protector on the front
I got my S6 today. I've only had it for about 5 hours so far but holy cow this thing is amazing!! The screen and the camera are ridiculously clear, apps load way fast, and so far the battery is holding up better than my S4 did with similar usage. @The Sickness you won't be disappointed!!

There seems to be plenty of people moaning about what they don't like, there is a Note 4 Let Down Thread, so I wanna read some positive comments about what we DO like about the Note 4 in General, it doesn't matter which model you got, but if you feel happy about it please share your positive thoughts.
-Personally I Like the style of the phone.
-I also like the fact that its made from metal (well most of it) except the battery door which comes always in handy and its another pro about this phone, the access to the battery and micro sd card.
-Of course it runs on Android which I love.
-I like the screen which is amazing
-I like the camera, both, the front camera and rear camera.
-I like the S-pen and yes I use it everyday when I go to the gym, I keep track of my workouts, weights, reps, all in one place, I have a phone, a music player, a great camera shooter, and a notebook, and we all must thank Samsung for this, if not go back and read about what people though about the first Note device.
-I like the fact we still have the LED for notifications, which a lot of manufactures still forgetting about it.
-I like the battery life, yes I know, I have read about all the complains, but its not in my case, yes I have 90% of Samsung bloatware turned off, I just use what I like and what I need.
- I like how easily I can access a hard drive or any external storage via OTG.
-I like the IR Blaster, which not a lot of devices have it, and they should.
-I like the S Health app, and yes, i use the heart rate monitor, im into fitness, and yes this app help me track all my workouts, ive even improve in my diets.
Of course there are plenty of stuff I just forgot right now, but I hope you guys help me to remember them by commenting your positive thoughts and everything you like and what makes you feel good and special about the Note 4,
IF YOU WANT TO COMMENT COMPLAINS AND NEGATIVE COMMENTS PLEASE SEARCH AROUND THERE ARE PLENTY OF THREADS, NOT HERE, THANKS
I love my note 4. I like it's size, the display is beautiful, the battery life is far better than my note 2. It has more space. I like the way it feels in my hand. I paid cash for it so I don't owe tmobile a dime lol...
Overall I love my note 4 and I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I don't have any complaints and I haven't at all since I've had it
It's a hulk, which for my Neanderthal-esque hands helps out a ton.
The screen is gorgeous
The camera is top notch and helps me, who happens to be one of the worst picture takers of all time, take good pics.
I use S-Note in my meetings every day.
Build wise it feels great in the hand without a case.
Eventually I can pick up an additional battery pack.
One day it will get an update that stops the ferocious lag lollipop has at times.
Dat screen doe.
Overall, 9/10

I've only had my Note 4 since 4/30 but I've yet to find anything that I don't like.. Running stock 5.0.1 using the TouchWiz launcher, and only have the Google apps that don't have a Samsung equivalent enabled! Love this thing!!

I like the battery, the screen size and that is Amoled, Touchwiz features, and that it fits ok in my hand because it's thin. Also I like Samsung is okish with software updates compared to other manufacturers.
Everything the OP said, plus now that we're on Lollipop I can use my MicroSD card properly again with Solid Explorer and other properly updated apps (without rooting). Also like the battery life, regularly 20-30% left at the end of the day with normal usage. Finally, I'm on the N910C with the Wolfson DAC which is giving great sound paired with my Sennheisers - so much so that I just sold my trusty old Sony Walkman on eBay! The sound with PowerAmp, to my ears, was as good if not better. Best smartphone I've owned to date by a long shot. Oh... and the IR, getting that set up now
Forgot that it's also my remote control for every room I visit. I watch whatever I want at the bar now
Best phone ever, I like every single thing about it! It's such a powerful, flexible, customisable phone that can do it all, looks and feels great and I never have to worry about the battery before the end of the day!
Like the metal, is gorgeous to hold. Love that battery and Sim are accessible - wish for nicer back cover though, or at least a larger selection.
Multitasking is fabulous, very effective.
Excellent screen!
Stylus.

best phone ever
It's the best phone I've ever had hands down, I like the way it feels in the hand, I use a case during the day, but I can't wait to get home to take the case off. That shiny metal rim is the best.
I use public transportation to get to work, and I have caught people reading the news with me.....That screen is just awesome. I have even downloaded 4k videos just for show.
And dont get me started on the stylus.... How did I ever get by without it?! I use it at work to jot down orders, phone numbers, reminders...
The camera experience has probably impressed me the most: from the responsiveness of the camera app to the quality of the photos and videos and finally viewing them on that gorgeous 5.7 inch screen.
Overall since I prefer the 5.7 screen size and like the S-pen features I think the Note 4 is still the best smartphone and will remain so till the Note 5.
Note 4 has been the best phone I've owned bar none.
I just wished there was a way to get updates and not rely on the carrier.
I have an att phone. The only way I can get updates is to borrow an att chip and then I can update my rom.
Totally sucks since I'm on another carrier.
Anyways, enjoying the note 4 experience thus far.
Camera the best.
Lollipop over all is a great experience on the note 4
before i was going to buy a new mobbile i was looking for good looking phone, excellent outdoor brightness, great camera ... developers support good audio ..... big screen..... so i got xperia z3 with big screen compromise but it was way better looking and water and dust proof and front firing speakers and very slim ..... after buying i regretted because there was abbsolutely no developers support..... almost negligible ...so then i got note 4 ....i like it alot ... becauser .. back cover is removable ...... amoled screen ..... super bright ..... developers support is good.... but touchwiz is bad and on aosp roms brightness is very low....
z3 over note 4- had better sound of speakers, better looking, battery life way better , very thin
note 4 over z3- has better brightness , better developer support, back cover removable...i put a leather one on the back ... battery removable, camera is better, screen is bigger. its an amoled which i love because of deep blacks and saturated colors. i love popping colors , the best thing is fast charging.
Hmmm, where do I start?
-That screen is unbelievably good. Bright, vibrant, and there's no way you'd notice the subpixels without a VR headset. Makes me wish we had AMOLED PC monitors on the market already.
-None of that screen space is wasted with onscreen buttons, either! As much as people complain about the physical Home button and all, I actually prefer it and wish the other two buttons were physical like the S Active/Sport line.
-Wacom digitizer support in OneNote and Clover Paint is excellent. The Note 4 even boasts tilt sensitivity!
-I wasn't expecting Gear VR to be immersive due to the obvious performance limitations the Note 4 has compared to a gaming PC, but it's actually astounding how it keeps up with my head movements. Cardboard apps aren't even close, they're a blurred mess by comparison.
-I shouldn't have to bring up microSD card slots of all things as a selling point against the competition, but that's what it's come down to after the S6. They're great for mass media storage and Nandroid backups, since you don't want those backups taking your internal storage space! Too much risk of getting wiped if you're a flashaholic.
-Batteries that can be removed without a heat gun also shouldn't have to be a selling point, but are now. The battery life's plenty for my purposes, but if that's not enough, I can just pop in a second battery or install an extended battery! Phone freezes up or gets wet? Pop that battery! Cells degrade to the point of uselessness after a few years (and they will)? Swap 'em out for some newly-manufactured ones instead of paying some service center to get the dead weight outta your phone!
-Adaptive Fast Charge/Quick Charge 2.0 has spoiled me rotten now. Dead battery to a usable charge in just 30 minutes, near-full charge in an hour? I don't even have to leave the Note 4 on the charger overnight now!
-Sprint doesn't lock the bootloader, so rooting's easy if you don't mind a tripped Knox bit. I don't.
-The camera's good enough, as long as I never have to zoom in.
Thus far, there isn't any other phone on the market I'd rather own, and I'll be more than happy to keep the Note 4 for another two years! All I hope for is that the next two Note generations don't throw out microSD slots and removable batteries like the S6 did, otherwise I might be using that Note 4 longer than anticipated.
I have two things that really make a difference for me and those are the great battery life and finally being able to work from my phone. I get sent contacts and I can edit and sign them on n the phone. There is no need to involve my laptop anymore. This makes commutes by train really productive.
Note 4 on KK is fantastic. Very fast, lots of storage, excellent screen, fabulous battery, glorious smooth glass, the hard metal body feels great, one handed use (just) and it's magnificent S-Pen.
There is just nothing like this phone. I wish Samsung didn't make is users feel second best. I've been messing around with the S6s.... After a while I came running, RUNNING back to my Note 4.
I'm so sorry baby. I'll never let you go again.

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the LG V20, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the LG V20 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.

Surprised at thin, light and high quality.
yup...runs smooth...great replacement for my N7
Didn't think I was going to be happy with ANY phone after losing my first true love, the Note 7. All joking aside, this is one of the better phones currently available today! Once you disable bloat and that God forbidden "Lookout" app that is the WORST app that a company could pre-install on any phone...
I'm impressed with Android 7.0 and the LG V20 hardware. I'm coming from a Note 4, and so far, I like it. I've been riding stock. No Nova Launcher, yet.
I love it too. I'm on day two coming from a GS7 Edge that I just gave to my wife. AT&T had a great deal on a LG 10.1 G-Pad to go along with this phone so my wife got the pad and the edge. We're both extremely happy.
I should also mention that I'm a loyal Note user from the original days. The GS7 Edge was my first foray back into a regular phone.

I haven't found anything that I don't like about this phone yet. It is a great phone that helped me forget the Note 7. It is the best smartphone available at this time, period!

After using this phone I went back to my Note 7. I'll take my chances. Don't get me wrong, the LGv20 is not a bad phone, it just doesn't do anything exceptionally well. The screen is meh, the fingerprint scanner is annoying as all you have to do is touch it and it unlocks, i'd rather have the lgv10 fingerprint implementation. And the quad dac is less obvious than the lgv10. In other words the Dac on the v10 was better as in loudness. I don;t know if its nougat or the v20 but when I use the built in gmail app and I delete an email I get the option to undelete but it doesnt actually undelete. And one you go SAMOLED all screens look like ass in comparison.
Best phone on the market as of November 2016.
I just bought mine yesterday. I've been using Galaxy S5s for a year and a half waiting for someone to come out with a new phone with swappable batteries and MicroSD. The S5 is much loved by me. I'm going to miss the wallet cover which positively shut off the screen on the S5 and the V20 is a little larger than I like, but I do like the fingerprint scanner which works a lot better than the last I used, which was a Note 4.

In Israel we get with the V20:
1. LG 360 Cam.
2. VR headset.
3. 16GB Sandisk type 10 sd card.
4. A second original battery.
Pretty neat.
I love this phone! It's the first phone that I didn't had mixed feelings about and I've had just about every flagship from Sammy n LG.

Dam! Nice!
I love my V20, I am so happy with it, the performance, battery life, build quality, appearance, all of it! <3 This device!
I got it this past Monday 11/14, and it has been an absolute joy.
It has also made work related tasks much easier and my signal throughout the Denver metro area has been fantastic, much better than my S6 or my iPhone 6S Plus.
Full bars in data centers where the other devices had one or two.
I traded in my phone and sent my company issued phone back after two days owning the V20.
It is that good.
I previously had an LG G4 for about a year before switching to a Huawei Mate 8 for about 3 months until I received my V20 H990DS this Friday, 18 November. So far I'm really happy. The phone has excellent build quality for a phone that has a removable battery. It's thin and light albeit slightly tall.
I love the QHD screen, it may not be AMOLED but it is an excellent LCD panel with vibrant colors and it really looks great. I do have slight light bleed from the second screen but it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I'll accept that to have the extra screen and I really hope LG keeps this feature in future versions of the V series. Though I do agree that LG should move to AMOLED for the next version in the V series lineup.
I've enabled the app drawer and have found the LG skin to be a pleasant experience with its customization options and themes. Certainly a step up from the G4. The phone is really fast and the audio is absolutely amazing.
I love having true dual sim with a memory card slot. Signal quality on wifi and LTE is excellent.
As for the camera's, I haven't spent much time testing them out yet but so far the image quality looks great and the wide angle lens is awesome despite the lower resolution.
So, I'm still experiencing the phone and testing out the various features but overall I really think LG did a great job with the V20 and I'm very happy with it so far.
What else would I have liked? Wireless charging, AMOLED displays, higher resolution wide angle rear camera and front facing camera. Unlocked bootloader.
Thanks LG. Happy customer here! (so far)
Had the phone now for about 2 weeks. Coming from a Samsung ATIV SE Windows phone with Win10 Mobile.
So far I like the build quality of the phone. Feels solid, glad it is not super thin like some of the new phones. Hate that, do designers think people are a bunch of wimps that can't hold anything over a 5mm thick?
The screen is good. I am not one that really cares what type of screen I have, whether its OLED or LCD. As long as I can read it, I am good with it.
Guess my biggest disappointment is with the OS. I have been away from Android on a phone, though I have three Android tablets, plus an Ipad for work and a 8" Windows tablet for tinkering.
I am NOT IMPRESSED with Android 7.0. The camera app on the V20 is good, but the processing software makes for some rather crummy pictures, either in auto or manual mode. Too much noise if you barely zoom in. Not real impressed right now after spending a couple days trying to get good with the camera.
As far as Android in general, there is too much fragmentation, almost too many apps trying to do the same function, while all of them doing it rather poorly. I don't need 5 different file managers, I just need one that does what I want it to do. Same with web browsers. How many do you really need?
Guess I am just used to using my phone as a phone first, work tool second. I don't have all the gee whiz apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and all that garbage. I use my phone for specific functions and I want apps that do it right the first time.
Hopefully by the time my contract is up on this phone, Verizon will be off CDMA and fully switched to their version of GSM. Then maybe some phone makers will start making Windows phones for their network again. Going to be a long 2 years for me. May just sell this V20, and go back to my ATIV SE for the duration. Not impressed with Android right now.

Actually I have disabled everything from VZW except their Messaging app.
Guess you didn't follow what I was saying. Too much fragmentation in Android, period. Minimal quality controls. Instead of one or two really good apps to do a specific function, you have 15 or 20 that are at best mediocre apps.
I blame the majority of that on having Java as the main app language for Android. Any 12 year old can write code for Java, doesn't mean it is clean, concise, efficient code. Same with apps. Just because it was easily written, doesn't mean it is a good app.
Are there bad examples of other type of code? Of course, but Java seems to be the most prevalent from what I have seen.
Also the few apps that I have on Android now that I had on my Windows phone, mainly the Office and MS related ones, are not that great actually. I don't expect MS to make them as good for Android, but even then, at least make them useable.

Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra
Yes this is great phone i already using it great company
So far I have to say this phone is on its way to becoming the New GOAT. Build quality is stellar, i don't mind the camera bump, small sacrifice for a better shooter. Plus I always rest my finger against it. But that being said, it's pretty much the perfect phone IMO.
The display, the smoothness, the cameras. If I can get 6h + SOT on top of that it'll definitely become my GOAT Samsung phone. Dethroning the Note 7 who dethroned the Galaxy S4 Google play edition but I digress.
I don't see myself moving to another phone any time soon.

Initial thoughts after final setup:
Going from a A20 ultra to a Note 20 ultra, I think this phone just looks and might even perform better. The feel in the hand, the fingerprint reader, everything seems to run smoother. I'm loving it so far.
My main concern is the battery life with heavy use. I've tweaked the settings a bit, so I guess I will have a better idea after a few days of use. But so far so good! :good:
I just received and configured my Note 20 Ultra. It's so similiar to Note 10+ but faster. Software looks almost the same. I already have 1 software update with security patch from 1st of August
edit: what is annoying is that pen is from the other side it's inconviniet if you are using right hand to operate and hold your phon in your left hand
It's an incredible phone. So much smaller than my first mobile phone 35 years ago. How far we have come since Palm first put a PDA and mobile into the same unit. Luv, Luv, Luv.
PS. The Beans are wonderful. So nice to not have a bud sticking into my ear canal.
PPS. Now I have to wait all over again for my Tab S7+.

Lol, I remember those. My first phone was a brick phone with a battery that lasted an hour if you were lucky, and a hand calculator sized screen. Times have changed indeed. It's amazing.

I have waited on the Note series for a while. What finally took my commitment was finding out the s pen is on the left. As a lefty, this is the most convenient placement I can imagine.
Anticipate that the placement will change back to the right in the next iteration after feedback from rightys.
If the s-pen was on the right, it would be perfect. Fingerprint scanner is brilliant now, screen is unreal, battery life is phenomenal, speed is beyond belief... Perfection. Good luck topping this, Samsung
Love this phone! It's definitely my favorite phone ever. It just barely beats my love for the OnePlus 8 Pro. I like the form factor of this phone better with less display curves. Plus all the tons of software features. However the colors and brightness on the OnePlus 8 Pro are better.

Can you elaborate further on the brightness? Everything I've read says the Note 20 Ultra has a brighter screen than the OnePlus 8 Pro, and the rated nits value is quite a bit higher. It might only go up to highest brightness in adaptive mode and being outside? IDK, but you're the first person I've seen say this.

This is the best way I have of describing my N20U screen brightness.
On a no cloud sunny day, I can take my phone out and see the screen perfectly. No more having to turn to use my body for shade and my hand to see the screen.
I am 69 with mild Adult onset Macular Degeneration. This phone is fantastic for me with auto brightness enabled.
I hope that helps.

Couldn't agree more. After owning note 2,3,4,7,8, and 9 with the pen on the right it will take some getting used to.
Battery life is also a bit meh coming from a Poco F2 Pro but it's good enough to get me to the end of the day so I can live with it.
Apart from those two factors I love this thing. Even at 60hz the screen is very bright and vibrant. It's very responsive, plenty quick enough for day to day tasks, and I've got the inferior Exynos model since that's all my country gets.
Camera is also beast. Low light isn't quite as good as my P30 Pro but it's still pretty impressive compared to a lot of smart phones out there. One thing it does have over the p30 is that it's much faster to grab focus so much better for quick snaps.
great phone, super screen, great that the diagonal has become larger, very convenient !!!
I bought note 20 ultra it is most bs phone i ever use it
No complaint in the overall experience
I've had Note 1, Note 3, S7, S10+ and now N20U from HK with Snapdragon. I've only had it two days, but I'm very happy with the phone. Big £ savings vs UK Exynos are icing and a cherry on top of the cake.
Having pre ordered the phone and having used Notes 3,4,7, 8 and now the 20 Utra 5G with 512gb internal storage; I wanted to wait to make a judgement call but I can say while there are things I like about the phone, I don't think it is what I expected and I am done with Samsung products.
I mean they have tried un-successfully to get rid of the micro sd card slot so then they go after the head phone jack. They skimp on the 120Hz display at full resolution. I mean there are a number of things for a flag ship $1549 phone that just say crap. I was interested in a watch and a tab s7 also. but that isn't going to happen.
I've owned a number of Samsung devices in the past, including Notes 8 and 9 as well as an S10e provided by my company. The Note 9 is, to me, an icon and the last no holds barred, everything but the kitchen sink, no compromises, Note. I do a lot of mobile photography and have always gravitated toward devices that had impressive camera/audio/video capabilities as well as feature-filled in other areas. I wanted to get my hands on the Note 20 Ultra but wasn't willing to relinquish my still pristine Note 9 for the pre-order trade in discount. So I waited for the software problems to get sorted out and the prices to come down. I regularly scanned the Offer Up and Swappa websites until I was able to a factory unlocked 512GB model from a good seller at a great price. This device is a juggernaut of power, form, function, features and fun. I found it not to be too much larger than my Note 9 which fits oh so nicely in hand in its Caseoloy Paraxell case. The camera and video set up is a mobile photographer's dream. I've utilized Google Pixel software apks (GCam) on all of my devices going back to my LG V20 and the stock cameras work so well that I have found no need to port one this time out. This is just overall a top notch piece of tech that does so many things and does them well. It is a quality, powerful, feature-filled piece of technology that will fulfill your needs, whether it's mobile photography, work productivity or content consumption/creation and everything in between. I'm glad I added it to my lineup.
Hardware is great ! With a few greed related exceptions, ( Like Non-Removable Battery, No Audio Port,etc... ) Scamsung's Locked Bluetooth codec really burns my ars !
It could Do/Be so much more/better if they would just fix the Hardware/Firmware lockdown BS.
Coming from a Rooted Note3, this is a really bad experience trying to do anything with this thing, Nothing works without agreeing to some sort of sketchy user agreement. No one is making any usable apps any more, Most of the Best Developers have quit bothering with Android. Even simple widgets don't even work anymore
I DO NOT OWN this over priced phone, They Do ! And they do/steal what ever they want to/from it !
They forced Assdroid 11 in the middle of the night with a corrupt image, I was forced to send it back to them to get it re-flashed. Now None of the apps I was using on version 10 will work on ver. 11.
I will NEVER buy another assdroid, scamsung again. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.
Sad that almost all the hardware/software makers are using these creepy/greedy tactics to spy, steal & dictate what you should do. No other choices out there any more ...
Soon you will have to log in just to wipe your ass ! & they Will be counting your turds.
