G920A Combination File to Recover IMEI? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

Hi all,
I live in Australia. The battery on my S6 was replaced recently. Now the IMEI number shows with around 10 "0's" in the middle of it, and it can't connect to a network.
Apparently, according to this thread, I must flash the combination file, then flash the stock firmware, to retrieve the IMEI number in the phone and fix the issue.
However, the stock firmware has to be the same or earlier than the combination file, otherwise the device is bricked. I am yet to find a combination file that matches a stock firmware so I can actually do this.
Has anyone got a recent-ish combination file for the G920A? And if so, it would be great if I could have it, as long as I end up finding a matching stock firmware for it.

What baseband version does the device currently have? (if you don't know, it usually looks like G920AUXXXXXXX)

Don't worry, I paid $10 for the file on a website, tried it, but it didn't resolve my problem. The next solution may have worked, but it required root, which I was unable to do with my ATT Galaxy S6 locked bootloader.
Sold it though as a 'wifi-only' device.

[Q] No call sound after back to stock

Hi guys,
I know there are many similiar threads to this one and I'm sure I've read most of them. Either my issue is different, or, if the answer was in one of them, I was too stupid to realize it.
With my S4 Active GT-I9295 I had to go back to stock ROM for the Samsung S-Health and Gear related apps.
I came from spegelius' (absolutely awesome) Google Edition for SGS4A (int'l) v0.9.9.-od2 and flashed the Samsung Stock 4.4.2 with Odin (*). The procedure was: Flash -> Factory Reset -> Flash again to be absolutely sure all files are updated. Currently, I rooted the phone.
My problem persists:
After a reboot I (usually; not always) am able to make normal phone calls.
After some time (sometimes minutes, sometimes hours) I no longer have sound.
I do not hear ringing, the callee can't hear me, I can't hear the callee.
Same problem if I'm being called
Establishing a connection though works always.
Mobile Data is not affected.
WiFi works
Also observed after factory reset -> re-flash, only enter WiFi PW and Google Login Data -> try phone call
I know this problem often arises from a baseband/modem mismatch. So I investigated my CWM backup of the pre-installed 4.2.2 ROM.
That's what was pre-installed:
Bootloader: I9295XXUBMK3
CSC: I9295OXXBMK3
Modem: *I did not find the info in my backup*
This corresponds to the Romanian 4.2.2: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/22586/I9295XXUBMK3_I9295OXXBMK3_ROM.zip/
That's why I flashed the direct successor http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/37083/I9295XXUCNI1_I9295OXXCNI1_ROM.zip/
PDA: I9295XXUCNI1
CSC: I9295OXXCNI1
MODEM: I9295XXUCNI1
I tried everything I could find online, nothing helped. I am really running out of ideas. Is it possible to go back to 4.2.2 to see if the problem persists?
I do have logcat logs of the radio module before and after the problem occured. But its thousands of lines. If it helps I can upload it!
Thank you guys for your help
(*): I did some intermediate flashing of several other firmware versions (especially different baseband / CSC versions of the same 4.4.2). But I assume this does not affect the result. I used Odin v3.07 & v3.09
Edit: PS: I still think that I might have the wrong CSC Version. I know the 4.2.2 PDA/CSC matches, but I am not from Romania. I'm actually from Germany. And what makes me wonder is that I cannot select the German Keyboard Style without downloading it first. I can't remember doing something similar after unboxing the phone and setting it up for the first time.

Thanks for the answer O-T!
Yes, I was aware of that thread. However, I never made it until here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50787570
Although I did the things basically as described in that posts I have a new question:
Which country is relevant for the search on sammobile? I mean, do they ask me "Where do you live" or "For which country was your device produced?".
Edit: Okay actually they ask me for the 'product code', so it's probably the latter question.
I realized that my 4.2.2 PDA and CSC also match the French version. That would match the language of my original packaging. I already flashed the French 4.4.2 once but heard only noise when calling someone. So I gave up on that one quickly. But I'll give it another shot now.
Is it possible that I had a factory installation of the firmware for country A, and when I first registered with my local carrier I received a modem update OTA for country B?
That would really surprise me. But it could explain my issues, since there is no 4.4.2 for o2 Germany, i.e. I probably wouldn't receive another modem update OTA.
(I never looked into the carrier specific firmwares because I figured they are for sim-locked devices.)
If the above is true, I understand that the only option would be to somehow downgrade my device back to 4.2.2.
I know I'm asking a lot of questions that have been asked and answered elsewhere. But by now I tried so much and nothing worked that I'm really confused and need your guidance.
I know I type too much, so a short summary.
Everything I tried so far didn't help, the stock ROM from sammobile.com doesn't help, currently I'm on 4.4.2 XEF (France)
I'm 80% sure I have the firmware for the correct country
From factory-side I definitely had an XX PDA and OXX CSC, so shouldn't all XX/OXX versions work, even if not the exact country?
What should I try next?
Is there a way to uniquely identify the country code from a backup of the /system or /data parition?

I am not sure if you have done this, but one thing I always recommend is a phone factory reset from settings (not CWM/TWRP) when you are on stock firmware as this is known to correct a lot of issues caused mainly due to faulty partition / corruption. However beware of the fact that this will wipe your internal SD card therefore back it up before you do that.
If you have flashed the correct firmware for your country & carrier (if it has a separate one) where you are using the phone, and done the above then I do no see any other issue than a faulty IC that requires replacement

Yes, I always did a factory reset. Most of the times I even flashed the firmware a second time after the factory reset. (This was recommended somewhere else.)

Now that really helps me! Thanks. BUT: There is a seperate firmware for my carrier. However, I did not purchase the phone from that carrier. That's why I never tested the carrier specific firmware. Moreover, there is only the old 4.2.2 available, so I can't test it, since I cannot downgrade.

Tried it and it didn't work; completely crashed my Phone Application. It rang on the other side, but no conversation was possible. Is this because of the bootloader / modem mismatch?
Does anyone have instructions to safely downgrade to 4.2.2 again? Should I open another thread for this discussion?

Identify the bootloader version and Knox state:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57332718
Knox is not a counter - it's a like a fuse.
Hi O-T,
the bootloader is I9295XXUBMK3 and it does not yet have the warranty bit which I assume you mean by KNOX state.
Are there maybe any new ideas?

There's 3 stock 4.2.2 TW ROM I9295XXUBMK3 to choose for flash by Odin. All have different Germany CSC (Carrier Specific Code) - Generic, O2, T-Mobile. PDA=MODEM=I9295XXUBMK3 for all of them. Not sure if O2 or T-Mobile versions are locked, but they usually have operators bloat apps.
Remember to power OFF before entering download mode, flash ROM in Odin, factory reset.

https://www.samdownloads.de/download/i9295xxubmk3-via-4-2-2-germany-o2/
https://www.samdownloads.de/download/i9295xxubmk3-dtm-4-2-2-germany-t-mobile/
Your choice.
O-T I'm so sorry. My post from yesterday was a lie; I can't read my own OP. :crying:
I9295XXUBMK3 was preinstalled
Now I'm on I9295XXUCNH2, which implies 4.4.2 and makes a downgrade to 4.2.2 impossible (afaik).
Please note that I already tried the generic German (4.4.2) firmware. I never had operater bloat apps and I bought a simlock-free version of the device. Thus I never tested the o2 / T-Mobile ones. (I did, however, once flash the o2 modem over the generic 4.4.2, which turned out to be a bad idea).
I would love to extract the modem info from my CWM backup. The bootloader / CSC strongly suggest I have a French phone, but the modem would ultimately clarify that.
What is your opinion on trying a different custom-ROM? I never built one so I have no idea from where designers obtain their NON-HLOS and modem files. I know many don't come with any of those and require an already working ROM before flashing so these drivers can be kept. On the other hand, Darkman's StockyROM has an additional modem pack.... which, in my case, didn't help.
I simply cannot believe that it's a hardware issue. Everything worked fine until the update to 4.4.2 and new radio drivers should be thoroughly tested before distribution.

Wierd phone -- not sure if its G900A ior G900F

Hello every one here is my story
i bought G900F HongKong Version.
started the rooting method as in this Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-triggering-knox-2nd-method-t2843044
after reading and collecting the file, i restarted my phone to the download mode, and there i found the gateway to what seems to be a new phone nightmare.
in the download mode it show the model G900A (not G900F) the phone is brand new came with all G900F package and software. i also checked the IMEI and it show that my phone is G900F.
an hour ago i decided to go with rooting method in the above link, but odin wont flash the kernel. so i posted the issue in the above Thread, and i been told that my phone bootloader might be looked, and in this case its not G900F but instead it G900A, also i been told to search in the AT&T on how to check my boot loader status, but i could not find any clue, also google has no info on how to check my bootloader status.
Attached some photos of my phone details via Phone info app, and also attached the error from the download mode on the phone.
So fat my phone is still a live, i have not put my sim card inside yet (need to change it to nano sim first)
Thank you all
You try this @ command prompt.

according to the BL screen its an G990A (which is the AT&T US model complete with Locked bootloader) but according to the other screens it seems to be a Canadian version which i believe is a W8 the baseband is ND3 which either the Canadian or U.S. model have. unfortunately it look like you may have bought brick. Try using Odin to flash everything back to Stock but Im not even sure what firmware to tell you to look for. my best guess would be to go by the Download screen and use the AT&T U.S. firmware try using this thread as a guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55133105&postcount=1

Thank you all for your replies, i talked with the seller and even he does not know how this happen, my guess it might be a refurbished phone, anyway i am returning it, and will try to get G900F European version.

[Q] Help needed, stuck after updating firmware (emergency call)

Hi,
Well my device which is S5 mini g800f working fine, since I have changed the firmware which was old like build on july so I tried to installed latest, but now there is emergency call showing, also I have tried manually and automatically to register on the network but it says unable to register to the (---network). I did it coz my device was not showing LTE network. However my sim supports the 4g and was working on S4 i9505. I have searched on Google and look out many threads on XDA but no success until now.
The biggest mistake was I didn't looked the firmware which was already there and was running with 3g support. I have tried these EUR-G800FXXU1ANL1-20141226162921, SER-G800FXXU1ANG1-20140709112536, MAT-G800FXXU1ANI3-20141218172328. Then I have installed Custom Lollipop but no success was there too.
So now any pro's here who can understand my problem ? My imei is showing, is there any procedure where I can put the imei and it will let me know what was installed on stock :crying:
Sorry for being noobish..
Please any buddy give me suggestions that what should I do ? Or should I look in the specific section of XDA forums ?

Its is mentioned mate what I have written, I said my imei is showing that by dialing *#06# I can see it, because there is a problem where the efs folder corrupted or gone you cant see imei or imei appears to be in these digits 00000 especially by installing custom roms. Anyways my only motive is that I know the imei and how ever I can see it too, so is there any procedure where I can put the imei to the website and see what was installed on stock. Because I dont have the box so I dont know which firmware was there when I installed another rom to get LTE, because it was working properly as I said in my earlier post.
Problem is due the baseband I am pretty sure which is not matching, this is the reason because I cant connect to the network---error msg (Unable to connect).

The baseband firmware is included in the firmware packages that are available on sammobile (.tar.md5 files). If you flash the firmware package with Odin, also the baseband firmware (contained in modem.bin) will be flashed.
If you have problems with a newly flashed stock firmware that were not present with the original firmware it might be because of one of the following reasons:
You flashed the wrong firmware. I don't think that the version name of the original firmware is stored somewhere. Instead check sammobile for the correct one: select the correct phone model and your country. EUR, SER (for Russia), MAT are country codes, choose the correct one for your country, the search function on sammobile will help you with that. You can also try Kies for restoring the firmware. Maybe that is able to determine the correct firmware according to the IMEI or some other information stored on the phone.
Maybe your EFS partition was changed and corrupted. The EFS partition is the partition that contains the IMEI and other information like calibration files that are specific for your device. If any of the files in this partition is damaged, the phone might not behave correctly. If you flash another firmware the EFS partition normally is not changed.
Your hardware is defect.
I guess that you simply flashed the wrong ROM. Otherwise the problem will be hard to fix.

I need help please

First i know i'm an idiot, i thought i knew what i was doing but i had no idea, i figured how hard could it be I've rooted a G1 and a Droid Eris.... but alas i was way over my head.
I have a Note 9 from KSA (Saudi Arabia) i'm a contractor there and it was way cheaper than buy in the states plus a dual sim variant. i tried flashing to the Detonator T-mobile rom, and now i'm left with a phone i can not use, I did not create a partition, i have backup all my personal data, but the original firmware is in the ether. I flashed what i thought was a dual sim international firmware, but all it did network lock my phone so god knows what international network, since neither my T-mobile or STC sim work in it. On top of that even though it has a "stock firmware" it's still rooted so knox has been triggered and even if my sim's worked all Knox linked programs wont work.
So what i need from you fine Ladies' and Gentlemen is a solution to get it as close to the stock version as possible, at this point dual sim functionality or the Wifi calling i was trying to flash on to it are second to having the phone function as a proper note 9 again. IF anyone has the stock firmware or knows of a place where i can get the original firmware, no i'm not asking for hacked version, yes i'm willing to pay for it as long as it works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, I know that Samsung devices purchased in the UAE are partitioned differently than those purchased in the rest of the world. I would recommend that you repartition the storage in your device and reinstall the stock OS back onto it again. That should resolve yoru issue. I don't know how to do this. Maybe somebody else can chime in a help you out.

S20FE rooted super weird problem

Hi, im kinda desperate cause i really dont know what to do , here is my issue:
I bought a second hand s20fe i didnt know but its rooted and i want to remove it
The problem is that i tried booting it to download mode removing the root and trying to flash a original samsung stock firmware from odin, but it keep getting a error. Well i realized that the phone original model is SM G780G
And that the software that it had , was the SM G780F
So i downloaded a software for the G780F and apparently it worked with odin
But i want the original G780G software... what can i do?

I'm pretty sure your problem is:
you want to install a system with wrong binary.
Go into download mode and see what binary you have.
After you are sure which binary has downloaded the system you need and that's it.
if you have binary 3
upgrade to binary 3
If you can show a photo of what binary you have to observe.

I bought the s20fe second hand and it was rooted with a patched imei (the box and the software imei didnt match), i checked both imei and they are not blocked , so the phone isnt stolen. But here is the thing, the model in the box says 780G, and this software is 780F, the soft and the imei doesnt match. I tried rooting and unrooting, but now i dont have signal and i still have the same imei and software version, i would like to switch to the original imei cause im sure im able to use it , as well i would like to install the proper software version.

the equipment is not G780G.
1.G780G goes up to binary 4
2.G781B arrives
up to binary 5
3.G781U /U1 /V / N / W . go up to binary A(10)
4.G780F reaches binary A(10)
your equipment is a G780F and not a G780G. You can never load a system from another team, only from your variant.
Download an example system:
G780FXXUAFWB6
Currently there is the binary B(11).
luck.
unfortunately
it was advisable to leave it as it was when buying it.
if everything worked fine, there was no need to update.
just leave it with the system that was already installed.
since to change the imei, chimeratools, z3x is used. etc
They are paid applications and experience is required for it.
I used the z3x, that's why I'm telling you.
I dont understand, cause the model is in the back of the phone...

Personally, it is impossible to install an exynos system on a snapdragon.
It's like putting the engine from one car to another, just like that.
the cover says one thing, your phone another.
the caps are interchangeable.
Those can be put from an s20 fe exynos to a snapdragon.
check well.
personally you have a G780F.
try not to upload to binary B(11)
you will have to pay to solve the problem.
install software that it had initially, if the system was binary 9, it will be impossible.

the interchangeable cap make sense and also solve the imei trouble, i will choose to believe in your experience. But logically, then the email should be the one that is on the software right? and not in the cap? i already installed that version you told me, but how can i restore the signal? i just need to restore that and i will be able to sleep cause ive been awake almost 10 hours trying to figure out this mess
I really don't know if you can fix it.
I think your equipment was only rooted. The signal always worked.
I never touched the imei of your equipment.
It may even be that you are presenting a software error. once going to binary B. you will not be able to return to binary A.
if the problem does not recover without any update. It could be a problem with the internal antennas.
that they are disconnected.
I realized the problem, the case was switched indeed. And the original imei was changed because it was blocked. Since i update to the most recent binary and there is no chance to downgrade that, i wont be able to use sim cards anymore or at least until there is a new versión for patching the signal. I dont know which program the technicians use so i dont know if im ever going to recover the phone. An awful purchase and a even better movement from my part trying to update the android and removing the root. Im just disappointed, i hope this thread helps someone to not make the same mistakes...
At this point i dont even mind to pay for a signal patch, but there isnt a update for the system they use to do it. If someone knows anything about it, would be pretty helpful.
I understand what you're saying:
As a technician I understand.
Always before making changes, you have to know what we are getting into.
If you already knew that the imei was repaired and patched, for nothing in the world to update.
as advice, do not upgrade to binary B
stay in binary A.
The solution will come out, it always comes out for computers with an unlockable bootloader.
stay on february patch one ui 5.1 with binary A.
The rest are security updates.
Before listening to me, check that the system does not contain bugs.
in the best of cases, repair and sell, buy a G780G or G781B
luck.
