Hi, I'm considering a G6. I got an international version of the HTC M9 as my last phone and unlocked it. I didn't have T-mo's WiFi calling for a long time until I was able to get it in a custom ROM. If I buy an unlocked version of the G6 (rather than the T-Mobile one and unlock it myself), for example this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1322814-REG/lg_g6_us997_32gb_smartphone.html , will it be able to use WiFi Calling? I'm not sure if that's a feature that's built in to phones nowadays or if it is something only T-Mobile RUUs provide.
Thanks in Advance!

I live in Israel (mostly same systems as Europe) and would like to buy a moto X, I can easily get one, but my question is will it work out of the box in Israel (Just put in the SIM and call)?
Does it matter which carrier I bought it from? I understand they all have a place for SIM right?
Republic's moto X cant be used by any other carrier correct? How about Sprint? Is there any unlock process involved? Is that any carrier that makes the unlocking process (if needed) easier?
Please include as much information as possible cause I want to be sure I'll be able to use the phone and know what steps are needed.
Thanks in advance

Yes it will work in Israel since it has all required 2G and 3G bands. You can see comparison of different version in the attached file. You should probably get T-mobile version since it is not SIM locked and has an unlockable bootloader.
It's important for you not to buy Sprint a Republic Wireless version 'cause they don't work with GSM carriers.
Any other is compatible with 2G/3G European frequencies. As for LTE I cannot help you as I don't what are the frequencies used by Israelian carriers.
Thank you very much, I found the table really helpful! So basically T-mobile is the best option, while Verison should also be fine. I find Sprint & AT&T ones to be the cheapest on ebay, is there any easy way to SIM unlock them?
What does unlockable bootloader mean? How is it useful?
Lastly to GSM LC, Thanks for clarifying about Republic Wireless. We don't have LTE in Israel yet, but the planned bands are 7 and 3, so I won't get support for them anyway...
1) AT&T version can be unlocked by unlocking services like cellunlocker.net.
2) Unlocked bootloader allows flashing custom ROMs.
3) Regarding LTE bands AT&T version probably supports band 7. It is not mentioned in any official spec/document but several users confirmed its presence in XT1058
I'm also planning to buy a Moto X on cyber monday.. I live in Dubai UAE, usually UK/Euro variants of phones work well here. Should i go for the Developer edition with GSM network or T-Mobile off contract version? I would prefer to buy the T-Mobile or AT n T version as i can customize it unlike the developer edition. Any help would be great Thanks.
Guys, is Verizon Moto X like D4 in terms of global unlocked capability?
I bought a D4 last year and using it on GSM without any problem. Anybody can help me?
Ive seen that using a Verizon phone makes flashing/rooting difficult. But i have the reverse problem and I cant see to find any answers.
I have an international HTC One M7, CID tmob101, it is from germany.
I live in the US, my normal carrier is verizon, and i would like to take my current sim card (verizon) and use it in my HTC.
I have already unlocked it if that helps, some input on to if its even possible would be nice.
Cheers
Hello XDA,
Do we know if we are able to flash the firmware of another carriers to the LG G6? I remember we were able to do that with the S6/S7 so that Wifi Calling and VoLTE would be fixed for users on Tmobile using an unlocked phone (Sprint unlocked phone etc). Since they had the same physical hardware.
I'll be getting a Sprint LG G6 from my job but I have tmobile, I can get it unlocked thats not a problem, but I need Wifi Calling to work. Has anyone tried to flash another carriers firmware on their LG G6 // do we know if they are the same hardware wise? Thanks in advance guys!
Is Sprint using GSM now?

The devices have been GSM capable since the S3. NVTOOLs usually has some flags you can flip to enable the bands/radio. Of course it needs to be clean ESN with Sprint, and internationally unlocked from Sprint.
Does any one know what i need to do to get my sprint lg g6 working on other carriers sprint says its unlocked but when i put at&t sim card in it does not register

Did Sprint just say it's unlocked or did they give you a code? From what I know they are suppose to give an unlock codes for Android devices and for iPhones they just unlock them. Your phone is suppose to prompt you when you put a different carrier SIM in and once you out that code in your permanent unlocked.
Can anyone second this?
I wouldn't trust Sprint. They need to give you the unlock code. I found someone to pay to do it. There are very few.
I want to get a v40 to replace my Redmi Note 7
I use T-Mobile but know not to get the T-Mobile v40. So I was curious if it would be better for me to get a different one and unlock it or what should I do?
Any advice would be great because I don't want to put my self in a pickle where I have a nice paperweight
No need to get a TMo version.
A cross flashed Sprint V405UA to LG v405QA will work on TMo and get all TMo bands, plus TMo VoLTE and TMo VoWi-FI and TMo HD Voice. I know because that's the model I bought, cross flashed, and use on TMo.
I see no reason why a cross flashed Verizon or ATT wouldn't be equally good. But I can't speak there from personal experience.
But there's no cross-flashing possible on a TMo version. Once TMo, always TMo.

I saw you in some other posts and I was hoping to get you to respond to this. Thank you. I'll have to keep my eye out to see if I can find a sprint one. I like my redmi note 7, but there are many features that I want that it just simply doesn't have. But are there any other weird quirks I should know? Again, thank you.
Thanks for kind words. I seem to have a bit more time on my hands now ... I wonder why ....
The only weird quirks I think are worth mentioning is that it is not easy to root and install TWRP. Several have had issues doing so. It can be done, I and others are living proof, but it's not for the fainthearted. You'll have to bounce back and forth between several threads to get it right. There's no one comprehensive guide. If you're not looking to go that route, there really are no quirks.
As for sourcing one, I picked up mine, a mint condition device, off of eBay for $145. A steal for a phone of this caliber. They seemed to have upped the price in the meantime.

Troubles with getting TWRP working don't bother me. I don't mind that. I love messing with things a little too much. Also, with that link that you sent, although the listing said you can't use third party software to unlock it, you still can. Correct? (Well the listing you sent said that it was sprint only, but not specifically unlocked. But it showed me a similar one that is $170 that says it's sprint locked)(also that because it technically isn't software that you're using to unlock the device.)
And I do wonder why you would have more free time on your hand, I could never tell why...
In many cases, these eBay vendors have no idea what they are selling or what "tethers" come with which phones. See here's the thing. If the device is paid off, it can't/shouldn't be carrier locked. You own it free and clear, and should be able to put it on any carrier with which the phone is compatible.
From reading these forums, I knew I could convert (cross-flash) a v405UA (Sprint) device over to a v405QA (US version) which would enable more bands (that I needed/wanted for my eventual migration to TMo). And if the device in that listing was somehow actually carrier locked to Sprint, I knew I could get Sprint to unlock it. I had Sprint, I knew I was going to use the v40 for a while on Sprint, so I could easily verify its carrier unlocked-ness, and could correct it if needed.
But I didn't need to. The v405ua (which was originally attached to Sprint at some time in the past by a different customer) came to me carrier unlocked. Three weeks later, I had that same device, crossflashed, rooted, with TWRP, on TMo happily making use of the extra TMo bands, VoLTE and VoWi-Fi, and HDVoice (none of which a non-crossflashed v405UA could).

Ok, so if it isn't paid off then the seller is selling a bad phone, and they should list that in the description.
I'll buy the $170 mint condition v40 because it's a good price for the phone, and I'll have something to mess with. Thank you, again. I appreciate all the help.
It'll be nice to have a nicer phone again. I loved my S8 before I broke the screen, and after I had modded it.

I have gotten twrp working along with being able to install linageos
Only issue is that it asks for a password and I don't know what to do from here. I need to sleep.... I've been at this for far too long

Took me like 3 minutes of reading. After wiping data it is fixed. That was easy
Hello guys having an us unlocked variant is frustrating as At&t and verizon does not support volte and wifi calling on devices that are not in there brand. So with many googling I found out T-mobile supports unlocked phones for volte and wifi calling and so I switched and yes they do support volte and wifi calling manufacture unlocked devices!
I know it depends on the phone as well but if you google then you will see that at&t and verizon only allows those features there branded devices.
Does this mean you were able to flash the T-mobile rom on to the us unlocked phone successfully?
Thanks
No, I don't believe it means that! T-mo is very problematic in that regard as they use a separate and unique signature key for their roms. I don't believe you can mix them and there's a very high risk of bricking your device if you try.
The other reason I don't believe it means that is I have an AT&T phone, flashed to us open version rom, and it has both wifi calling and volte using a t-mo mvno (mint mobile). So, no, don't assume the op has flashed t-mo firmware to achieve this, it's not necessary and may well end with a brick.
cheers

No, I did not flash it. T-Mobile was the only one that supported unlocked devices for volte and wificalling activating them through the sim card network, So you just need a t-mobile sim card activated.
I went carrier shopping and it seems T-Mobile is the only carrier around to support activating those features for unlocked devices and I was happy as I wont be missing anymore calls and appointments.
i got verizon and it says i have hd voice which is verizon's volte service and I'm on this unlocked phone as well

The unlocked phone should be the 5QA7 as the model. But dang guess Verizon and T-mobile support those features for unlocked phones. A rep in Verizon told me they dont support unlocked phones when I asked them about volte/wifi calling. I only know that AT&T are greedy company as they only support there branded phones.
