Had a look around and can't find a software or a way of setting up my phone to perform certain actions when it detects certain bluetooth devices and wonder if anyone knows of a way?
I've had a look at a few location based programs such as CommMgrPro which do what I want but based on the cell location and not when near a bluetooth device (which would have a bluetooth name.) Of course the car location is changed and once the car is parked at work I want CommMgrPro to kick in and go to silent mode.
A few ideas I've got are:
If detected$ == "Car Stero" then command "MediaPlayer --Shuffle --PlayAll"
of
If detected$ == "My Laptop" then command "ActiveSync --UseBluetooth"
Just course it seems cooler (and lazyier) then having to open mediaplayer manualy or using VoiceCommander. Maybe I should do a feature request with CommMgrPro...
thats a cool idea, then you wouldn't even have to take the device out of your pocket when you get into your car, it just does everything automatically.
it might be possible with mortscript, I havnt done any work with it, but I thought i remember it being able to utilize bluetooth.
this isnt exactly what your looking for, but it might help you get to where you want to go:

and this i think is exactly what your looking for:

Yep - that's perfect, I think I'll have to try and get the hang of Mortscript as it seems theres alot it can do!
Hey guys,
I'm about to go on a huge road trip (San Diego CA to Washington DC) and my phone will be mounted in the window of my car providing me with directions via TomTom. Now I was wondering, does anybody know if it is possible to stream directly to the web? I would like to add a little "live webcam" section to my blog while I'm driving so people can see live what I'm seeing on the road. If anybody knows how to do this, advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
You can stream live using http://qik.com/.
It (usually) works well for me.
The vid can be embedded onto your blog too.
doesnt work for me...gives me a spinning wheel and just sits there...
I know what you mean - it takes a while to buffer up.
It works better as almost-live streaming; if you stop filming, it quickly catches up and the vid is viewable.
This is ok if you're taking lots of short films of a couple of minutes each but it might not be too practical for your purposes - you don't want to be messing around with the phone every five minutes while you're driving!
Ah well, perhaps someone will come up with a better idea - I'd be interested too.
lol your phone is going to melt with tom tom and the webcam streaming.
Hi all,
Just a quick question regarding head tracking with Gear VR.
Having done some quick reading, I see that the general idea with head tracking relies on external equipment tracking movement or another idea has been to use a phone's internal sensors to detect movement.
Does anyone know if the idea of using the phones camera with some printed QR codes would be possible? The idea being to print out QR codes that can be placed around a user. A quick calibration wizard could be used by the user to ascertain their position relative to the printed codes and then use them as spatial points - similar to when using an AR app.
The phones sensors could still be used, this would just be an additional way to track movement.
Was just curious if it had been tried or was indeed possible?
Cheers,
Wayne
Something kind of like that can be made with OpenTrack (have a mode to use some QR for tracking). Other options use led tracking. All of them track the head, as you already investigated.
What you want to do is tracking the environment movement with the cellphone camera. The closest to that (that i'm aware of), is tracking some controller with Real Controller from Realiteer....
Reading a few, there seems to be some problems with oculus, to develop AR apps. And, there seems to be some support issues with the consumer GearVR (the innovators seems to be friendlier about it).
I'm searching about this, because Rifcat (and its emulation of Vive/Oculus)... The official approuch is with freetrack, but so far the tracking keeps avoids me (but i'm closer with any tryout ).
Hello, I will try to explain the best possible.
I want open the garage door using my Android Radio installed on my car without any device installed on the garage door.
All I see are devices that are installed next to the garage door and through an application connects to this device and opens the door.
I would like to be able to install this device directly in my car, which has powerful antennas and can be powered by usb, to install it hidden inside the car connected to the android radio.
Any idea?, thanks!
Edit: This is the best solution for now: https://es.aliexpress.com/store/pro...al-remote-controller/2815093_32796947067.html

Hello,
I like your idea. How about this device: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/201...lgo_pvid=3444855f-2c57-40cf-81bd-afcaac958d1e
If you fit it in your garage your should be able to control it from your car. If your garage door opens with 433MHz it may work. I would like to do the same, but my garage uses 868MHz and rolling codes so I dont think it will work for me. Too bad.

That device I see that it is a receiver 433mhz, not an emitter, which should be installed next to the garage and welding two cables (if I am not mistaken).
Regrettably if your door code is variable, you need to make a cable installation next to the opener (you can see this video for know how Install on your garage, mute the video if you don't understand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XYTUuW-WVs ).
Android device have no way to do it,you can try to use a Raspberry pi with bluetooth(try to replace door controller with Raspberry pi)
I am a chinese so that english have a bit of worng .needn't mind it

Yes I think you are right. In my case the manufacturer of my garage door motor is a french company called Somfy and they do sell a WiFi to RF converter, but it cost USD 240 which I think is too expensive. https://www.somfysystems.com/products/controls/mylink

I also have a Somfy garage door opener.
I installed a garage door opener very simply on my motorbike. I got a "1 Channel AC DC 12V RF Wireless Remote Control Switch Receiver +Transmitter 1 CH" from ebay.
Connected the receiver part across the key switch contact on my Somfy door controller, powered it from a mains to 12v adapter, removed the battery from the remote control, and wired it in series with one of the direction indicator bulbs on the bike.
To open/close the door, all I had to do was briefly turn on the direction indicators on the motorbike, and as if by magic, the garage door opened!!

What would you gain? You press the screen button on the android head unit to open the door. How is that different than pressing a physical button?
If there is a geek factor in it for you then maybe check this one wire usb adapter:

It's simple comfort, but I'll give you some examples that may make you change your mind.
1- The remote control is stored, you need to stop the vehicle to find it.
2- You must keep the button pressed, and many times the door does not open and you must play with the position of the remote control.
3- You can run out of batteries, in this case if you do not have spare batteries in the car, you will not be able to enter or leave the garage unless you have another method until you change the batteries.
I also thought of installing a good antenna so that I could open it early enough and quickly.
Using a shortcut on the home screen of my android radio would be a simple touch of the screen without having to distract or stop the vehicle, saving time and effort.

Well, the amount of time required to get something working on android is greater than the time it takes to purchase batteries and store backups in the car. Several cars have built in garage door opening functionality that you can program. You can very easily take a remote and wire it to a new button you can mount in your dash. Plenty of after market remotes that include a visor clip. Old skool radio works better on doors, but if you just gotta have something else look at the available options like:

I do think this is an old problem. There are now several garage door openers with google home integration. An "OK Google, open the garage door" should work with them through your android auto.
This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.de/meross-Garage...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

This is how I have been doing it for a couple of years. I can use either an OK Google command or a shortcut on my Android Auto launcher. More recently (only in the last couple of days), I've set up a couple of Macrodroid macros to automatically open or close the garage door when I am connected to my car's bluetooth and I cross over a boundary 300m from my house.
I use the phone app to call one of my family members to open and close the door. It's a low cost option.
I've automated my garage door a couple of years ago and I did not had even a single issue until a couple of months ago. My garage door was not opening at first, then it was blocked at all. I was trying to it on my own but I am not an engineer, so I called a local specialist but as far as I know he was in vacation, so I've called a friend of mine who's barking locksmith. The guy really know his job and he was working with smart locks for a while so he fixed this issue of mine in a couple of minutes
