On HTC 10 for VZW, s-off and locked, systemless SuperSU & Busybox, Magisk 12
Kindle for Android will not allow its data to be placed on the real sdcard,
I tried using Apps2SD to link the data directories to the 2nd partition
on the real sdcard, but everytime the app updated it forgot where the
data were. I hoped that using Magisk I could make Amazon Kindle
not be a system app, then install it as a user app and Link the whole
thing to free space on the /data directory.

I'm trying to cut and paste the Amazon Appstore APK to my system/app directory, by way of Super Manager on my Auto Nooted 3.0 Nook Color. When I cut the Amazon APK from my SD card (downloaded by way of Dropbox) and try to paste it into my system/app folder, I get a "Not Enough Free Space" popup, and the apk is automatically copied into the system directory only.
I did select R/W when prompted by Super Manager.
There's plenty of space left on the device. What am I doing wrong that is causing me to get this free space error?
Thanks for your help.
Space on the device, and space on the partition are two very different things. I use Root Explorer, and that tells you exactly how much space is available in the partition...

Still should be plenty of space. There's nothing but the rooted OS and about 10 apps. Regardless I'll check using another utility.
I'll try a reboot as well.
Thanks for the quick reply.
You need root and need to set the folder to r/w to write to that directory.
You should really be putting that file in the data/app folder instead.

I don't know if this will help you or not but I'm rooted v1.1.0_r2 and here's what I did:
(I already had apps Installer on my NC - from the Android Market - I thin it is free)
1 - move the apk form desktop to nook via dropbox
2 - moved the apk to the root of the SD card
3- run Apps Installer
That's it! Amazon AppStore works well.
I purchased a Kindle Fire HD off Amazon that said it couldn't be registered to an Amazon account but I didn't care as I wanted to put a custom ROM on it anyway. I had a heck of a time attempting to root it, wound up buying a factory fastboot cable and using the KFHD System.img Restore Tool I now have 7.4.8 rooted on my Kindle Fire HD. I installed the PlayStore seperately (because if I chose option 2 with extra launchers and PlayStore the WiFi wouldn't turn on but it worked with Option 1) and attempted to install the Amazon Kindle app so that I could redownload all my books I had on the original Kindle but it says it is already installed and won't let me install it again. It is not listed in the apps on the Kindle and it doesn't give me the option to uninstall it, just Force Stop and Clear Cache.
How can I get the Amazon Kindle app in the app section or carousel?
It's already installed. Go to the original launcher and click books, and that's the kindle app. If you wanna get the Play Store variant of it, install ES File Explorer, enable Root Explorer (if you've rooted, root if you haven't), go to /system/app and delete it from there. I dont specifically remember the apk name though. Good luck.

Have you posibly tried the application called root app delete or SystemApp Remover ?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=zsj.android.systemappremover
I did try the search, but the answers were not clear as to the following questions:
If I am using systemless root, and I uninstall system apps, would that effectively modify "/system" and OTA updates will fail to install?
Also, I read that Titanium Backup is unable to uninstall system apps with systemless root and I need to manually delete the "/system/app/<app name>" folder with something like Root Explorer (mount /system r/w), is that true?
Thanks in advance

OTA will fail on rooted devices.
System apps can be disabled in Settings. When deleted wit a rootexplorer the system partition is modified.

Sorry, I should've been more clear.
I just installed FlashFire, and I am running systemless root.
If I delete a system app, would it prevent FlashFire to apply a OTA update; or is this a moot point?
And, I've read that with systemless, TiB does not actually remove system apps, is that true?
As for why I want to delete instead of just disable; why not?
Thanks

The OTA checks modifications of system partition.

There is a lot written about 'systemless'.
The idea is that system files/folders are bind/linked to a 'su' folder. Apps are thinking that system is not modified.
Not all apps can be removed. Recently also Gmail can't be deleted. Disabling is the only option.
If you physically delete or change anything OTA will not work. Systemless SuperSU works by creating a Skylink with the user data partition and a modification withing the boot.img (the kernel). Any modification of any partition causes OTA to fail. So to successfully take an OTA you need to flash back the stock boot.img at the very least. Also the system.img if you made any modifications, and recovery if you are on twrp . . And modem.img and bootloader.img if they are not the ones that match the build you are on.

I'm having a problem getting to move any user app to the system partition on my Nexus 6. I'm using the Pure Nexus ROM, now rooted with Magisk, Android 7.1.2. The thing is, I have tried to do so when I was on Stock ROM, also tried it with SuperSU root instead of Magisk with no difference whatsoever. Link2SD doesn't work but neither worked system/app mover by j4velin.
What should I do to get that to work? Thanks in advance...
You're using Magisk... There are modules for that.
Two actually. And they can be installed from the Manager:

Take your pick.

Well right now for some reason Magisk isn't installing anything on my device, however I was wondering, if there is a method which installs the app as system and that the app continues to be there even if I unroot my device?

The whole design concept of Magisk is to protect the system partition from being modified. It does that by sym-linking directories. Using Magisk, as designed, the apps will go into the Magisk.img, not system. When booted, it'll look like the apps are in system but if you unroot they'll be gone.
If you don't care about modifying the system partition, you can move an app manually. User apps are in /sdcard/data/app and system apps are in /system/app. Once moved, you'll have to edit the permissions for the folder to rwxr-xr-x (755) and the apk inside the folder to rw-r--r-- (644).

Thanks for the info mate! It was really helpful to me to get to understand how Magisk works, and to be able to make the changes I wanted to my system using Root Explorer. Is so weird though, that those apps who claim to automate things, don't work on my device...
Thanks again!!!! :good:
Hey guys, any suggestion on why my /system partition is 100%full?
I did a search and found 100+Mb worth of amazon stuff (but i have no amazon apps installed / they don't show up) How do i delete those?
I had a little problem with coming from unofficial Xposed nougat to offical one where it said there is not enough space. I deleted some stuff, restated the phone and it went into boot loop. i deleted xposed and since then my titanium doesn't have root access and sdmaid cant delete any system app. What's going on?
Shame on me i was thinking such a small update won't cause problems.
EDIT:
Huh wow. I used root browser and simply deleted those amazon files. Which allowed me to install exposed and everything works fine now.
but i still wonder where these came from...
