Ever since I got my s8 last week I have noticed that it randomly closes Pokémon Go after a while when it's running in the background. I'm assuming it's doing some nifty power saving feature for an app it thinks I'm not using, but I'd rather it just kept it open in the background instead of closing. My s6 didn't close it, and I can't figure out what settings it might be under. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

It's the battery saving setting that puts to sleep apps that aren't in use and sit idle for a while.
You can choose apps that ignore this by going to device maintenance >battery>(scroll to bottom) unmonitored apps. Then add apps you don't want to be put to sleep
Awesome, thanks very much

hi guys was just wondering if there is a way to change how apps there are running on startup, because i noticed that whenever i turn my phone on it takes a while for everything to fullly load. i checked my task killer app only to find all of my apps were running which is why i think it takes a while to load after being turned on. i think i saw a thread on here a while ago but i can seem to find it. thanks in advance.
bump someone must be able to give me an answer...even if its to say that it isnt possible.
You can use TaskPanel, which is free on the market, works sort of like task killer but better, you can add programs to an autokill list and it stops them from running services until you want them too. I use it for my craigslist app cause I never set alerts on it but it's always running in the background which I don't need.
ok thanks will try that now
Ok this is driving me crazy, randomly the app watch on will pop up in my notification bar. I disable it and it will just pop up again at a random time. Does anyone know how to permanently remove? besides freezing it of course

This just started happening to me the other day. I don't understand why because it hasn't done it before. I too disabled the notification and it automatically turns itself back on. I cleared the data and started over but that did not help. I froze the app with tbu a little bit ago because I rarely use it. It is frustrating because that is one of the only Samsung apps that I like. I too would like to know of a fix for it.

holllly cow. I have been battling this for 3 days now. I thought it was just my phone being supper glitchy. I have gone as far as to uninstall the app... witch will stop it from comming up in the notification bar. Then i re download it from play store. After about 4 reboots it comes back. I will set it in the setting to not come on in notification pannel. Boom its back. No way to stop it..... same with a few other apps. Its like they do not close the correct way and do not save the settings. My swannview dvr app is one more that wont save settings because it won't close correctly.
I don't know if this narrows it down but I noticed when I had wifi turned off I never got it but the second I turned it back on it started popping up again.
I have the same problem. This morning, while trying to disable the notification bar setting again, I got nag popup about allowing Watchon to use mobile data or only wifi. I selected the allow mobile data option and do not ask me again. Now, I can't find the setting to change it back to see if that would affect the notification bar problem. I don't want to test all of the settings because I would lose the devices that I have setup. I assume the problem is caused by an update to Watchon. The only thing I have changed recently us switching to Nova Launcher. Could this be related?

Judging by this I would assume it is the location settings that is triggering this. Try to go to system settings > More > Location services > My places > Choose the places and click none. I can't confirm this works, but it seems that this is triggering for the problem. Also note this isn't a great solution; other location services may be affected with this change.
This is caused by the latest WatchOn update.
I use WatchOn since the day I get my S4 Active (2 months ago) and this NEVER HAPPENED before the update.
I had to disable WatchOn with TB.
Another example of Samsung messing up good stuff!

It has nothing to do with location services. All of mine were already set to none, and I have the same problem.

Sorry then, it must have been the WatchON lock screen location settings I was thinking of. No clue, honestly.
So did this ever get worked out? I just got the note 3 and am already seeing this behavior.
SOLUTION!..
Here is how i disabled remote control on notification panel and lock screen.
Its on Watchon Settings.
watch work done
This is what I did:
Settings
More
Application Manger
Samsung WatchOn
Remove the check for "Show Notifications"
This doesn't stop the program from starting on powerup, but it removes it from the notifications.
This is a thread that should be closed. The problem was fixed by an update. I can confirm that it did exist at one time, but the only people that still have thre problem either have not updated or they have not changed their settings.

I posted this in the Sprint HTC One forums and got little in reply, let me know whose you guys think
I don't know if this is an issue with 4.3 specifically because I don't recall if this was happening since I installed the update..but my multitasking with this phone has been horrible lately. I mean no matter what app I switch to it begins to reload, even if it's the last one I used or a light application (ex Google Now to Messaging). I already found it frustrating how upon switching apps with this phone it would show you a frozen image for a brief moment before before allowing you to interact with the actual application, but now apps are actually having to reload. I'm using apex pro and it's also redrawing nearly every time I go back to the homescreen, be it from internet, floorboard, messaging etc. Not sure why it's happening but it started like a week ago and my phone has been feeling pretty ****ty because of it. My GS4 w/touchwiz has less multitasking issues than this phone right now, any ideas on what's going on? Stock unrooted 4.3

Isn't there a specific setting that locks the launcher in memory to prevent the redraws? Are you running a custom rom or you're using apex on a stock rom?

There is that setting, but when it's enabled a notification sits in the dropdown that says to remove apex from the permanent memory, you can't swipe it away either. Really stupid, never seen a phone with that notification before, my s2 with 1gb of ram multitasked amazing. Regardless it's all aspects of multitasking not just launcher redraw, if I switch from messages to setting and then back to massages, it'll have to reload regardless of how light of an app it is.
Stock unrooted 4.3. Rebooting gives me a few days without hindrance but eventually the problem resurfaces, I barely have any apps installed and none of them are out of the ordinary.

Ive been having an issue with mainly the home key default and the default sms app going back to default. I have the lolipop messenger set as my default and randomly it will change back to the stock app and i miss texts, anyone know a fix? Im rooted with xposed and running dynamic kat 4.0

I had an issue with defaults not sticking on the S3. Turned out to be a random app somehow mucking things up (phone to chrome). I isolated by disabling bunches of user apps within tibu until the behavior straightened out...
I finally gave in and just stuck to using the stock messenger which is the only one it actually stays on, meanwhile the homekey has just gotten worse. Every reboot, even a soft reboot clears it, not even setting google now as the action in gravity box will make it open that by default. Is there any log or something i could check to see what is doibg this?
Sent from my SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Seems its gotten worse, my launcher wont stick as default, and it ws showing google now launcher which i have frozen, and acccording to app info on it if i switched to it it was google search, which i temporarily froze to test and the launcher option went away. Also google swarch has been killing my battery, says about 50% in the stats, chrrently android system is in the 30% area, a lot of things are higher than usual and screen brightness literally isnt even showing up, so i am extremely confused, anyone know what the hell is going on?
Edit: I had a newer version of google search (google now) installed from lollipop, so i uninstalled it and reinstalled the market kne and everything seems to have calmed down now, but it still wont stay as the default long press action for thr home key, it even shows up in app defaults, its listed there as the default for something, but I have to set google as the default for long press every time i reboot the phone.

So i used to use google keyboard, and it was fine, but i installed a modified one so i could get the material theme with the number row, and every time i rebooted it would go to samsung keyboard. So i froze the samsung keyboard and its "fixed" now, but obviously not a good solution as it kind of cripples UPSM since i wont be able to type.

ive already disabled battery authorization and autoclosing for any app but also after nougat update this phone keep closing apps that should stay in background and never close with other phones, what can i do to disable auto closing of apps? theres any way or with this phones its impossible?
also the manufacturer smart features like answer when you put the phone close to ear or silent ringtone when you put te phone upsidedown are auto close and you need to restart the phone or disable re enable them from settings
My P9 does that too. I'd be happy if it'd let me select apps to leave alone, like Orbot, I2P, Servers Ultimate, Limbo x86 emulator etc.
Apart from that, it's a great phone (bought it after my Galaxy S5 Amoled screen crapped out when cold, worked fine warmed up again! Looks like Huawei are going to be offering LCD screens on most of their phones.
Just found it after first attempt at posting reply, it's in: Phone Manager then Protected Apps, you can select them individually, or all together.
On an unrelated point, I read that that the backup utility even backs up app data, also their phone clone app migrates apps to a Huawei phone, even app data if the old one was a Huawei too. Have you tried any of that, does it work?
Mine too, how come nobody else noticed that. Would like to have a fix for that. 3Gb RAM should be more then enough, cmon..
The most annoying is that it closes music apps as soon as you shut the display but if you promptly switch it back on and put music playing and shut again it will stay.
Really weird. And It doesn't help if you put the app to stay in settings and put a lock on an app in running app drawer, it closes it anyways.
I don't have such problem in mine, everything works fine
I had the same problem and I have found out that custom launcher is causing app reload. I was using nova launcher and tried few others, and now I am back to Huawei stock launcher and it's good.
I had the problem that it is not closing the apps but whenever i come back to some app it starts's reloading the content from start.
