Urgent Upgrade Question - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a T-Mobile N910T, and have been running FireKat (4.4.4) v18 for a couple of years and loving it (with Xposed, etc). I have an urgent need to get on Android 5 or above for work purposes, but don't know want to screw myself in the process. Can anyone suggest the best options for upgrading and still maintaining as much flexibility as possible? And any pitfalls to avoid? Thanks in advance.

I would suggest Odining the latest N910T3UVU3EQC1 stock and then Odin TWRP and then flash this:

[Q] Need help, super noob for flashing etc

Hi guys,
Long story short, I came across an awesome app, in order to use it you had to install a different kernal and root the phone. I know nothing about this but, my buddy supposedly could do this "no problem." So, long story short, it didn't work, he flashed my ATT Captivate and reinstalled Android 2.1 for the Vibrant!! Uggghhh! So, I've been reading here and there, wanting to fix this myself. I have downloaded the latest android OS, I have odin. Am I correct in assuming that all I need to do in flash the phone and install the new OS and I'm good to go? Is there anything else I need to do or should know? Thank you very much for any help!
Do you know how to get into download mode? you best bet would be to flash gingerbread boatloader and rom...read this thread for easy instructions

This post has everything you might need. it has instruction to flash Froyo and Gingerbread...I am not sure which one you want...but you can get root and custom kernels for both.....

[Q] Various questions / doubts concerning the i9000

Hi everyone,
I have since a week a Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) and I find it a bit different from my previous device (HTC Desire GSM), so I am having some question and doubts concerning what I have done so far on the phone after reading many threads in this great forum.
First of all, when I got the phone, it had an operator layer, so I wanted it to have a completely stock rom. Hence, I flashed using Odin the phone using those files:
CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
The android version I have now is the 2.3.6, but I find it a bit (a lot) laggy, so I was wondering if this ROM is actually a stable ROM or a development ROM, perhaps can you help me choosing a more stable stock firmware?
Also, I am also having some concerns with rooting the phone. In fact, when I had my HTC Desire, there was mostly one method to root the phone (the most common method let's say) using unRevoked. But now I got really lost with the Galaxy S as the methods for rooting seem not only to be numerous, but to depend on the firmware I actually have on the phone. So I flashed a file in my phone that rooted the phone, but it seems to have a moded kernel with it. The file I used is the following:
CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS
Click to collapse
So I am wondering if there is actually another method to root the phone that does not involve flashing a custom firmware?
Also, I might go back to a MIUI ROM, but I wonder if by flashing another ROM with ClockWorkMod recovery, it will replace my actual kernel (which would be great) ?
I'd like to use the phone for a while using a rooted stock rom, with no alterations nor modifications; and then I will go back to using a MIUI ROM. So can you please help me with my doubts; I really don't like no knowing what I am really putting into my phone so I don't want to spend a week doing trial and error
Thank you all in advance and please forgive my noobism
If you flash a new ROM the kernel should be replaced but I don`t know for sure if it`s he same on Samsung like on HTC. I rooted my i9000 with unlockroot( just google for it) and the phone is stock rooted and I flashed speedmod kernel with heimdall in order to have CWM so I don`t have stock kernel either.
Thank you for your answer !
What android version do you have on your galaxy ? 2.3.6 ? Is it smooth ?
Perhaps I will try MIUI to check how it works on this device (it worked great on my HTC Desire with lower tech specs )

[Q] HELP PLEASE with stock, root and more???

So i have decided to give my galaxy mini a new life with custom roms.
I have done my fair share of readin
I am not a complete noob and know my way around with these things
But i am still confused on some questions
1.Do i have to root before installing cwm recovery? I don't think that is a necessity
2. What do i have to do to return to stock?
As far as i have read, i just have to redo the steps taken to update to 2.3.x . (the phone is already on 2.3 to start with)will that be all?? I read phones getting bricked and flashing all 4 files to go back to stock and what not.
Can any one provide comprehensive steps or a link may be to return to complete stock including the stock recovery?
3. Also, can anyone link me up to stock firmwares And the necessary drivers? I live in INDIA.
Thank you!

Noobie tries to flash please help.

I had iPhones past few years and came back to android.
My last rom flashing was back when I have galaxy s2....
Anyway, I bought a used note 5 (N920i) with Venom 1.4 flashed, and now trying to upgrade to Dr.ketan's M6.
Few noob questions.
1. Whart are Bootloder, modem, and Kernel? M6 installation guide mentioned about BL and Modem, but not Kernel.
2. Venom 1.4 is LL and M6 is MM, so do I need to flash stock 920i MM first before I do anything else?
3. Since I am already on customs rom and knox is tripped, Flashing another custom Rom would not give me deep sleep issue right?
4. Do I have to worry about 1,2,3? or just follow installation guide Dr. ketan provide?
I know they might be too basic questions, but please help me.
Thanks.

N910T Back to Stock... Help Please.

HI Just wanted some advice. Im on 6.01 Overdrive rooted but would like to go back to stock as I feel I'm not using any rooted featured and also I'm getting problems with Oculus etc.
My Question is what's the best Firmware to flash in Odin that if I decide to go rooted again it won't block me or upgrade my bootloader. I'm on Baseband PE3 at present.
Do I need to wipe anything? Or is an Odin Flash enough. Thanks
I use epg2. You can flash the dev base for that. I pulled the boot.img from it and flashed over to remove root. The 910t had guides to get you back to lp from anything before pj2. Haven't bothered upgrading past that point.
