Best combination? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hey there fellow flashers!
I just came across that AKT profile now support OP3T too. I flashed it and set it up using terminal emulator as instructed. I selected the XANA profile as I use my phone only for browsing, YouTube and WhatsApp .
So I need to know that if anyone of you also uses akt can you tell me the best combination of ROM+kernel+akt profile.
I'm using oos4.1.4 with Blu spark and x.a.n.a profile.

As the combinations of profiles and kernels is like 50+ it takes a long time to test all kernel settings combinations
Also some people tend to break the AKT profile by manually editing kernel settings using Kernel Auditor after applying a profile, that totally breaks the idea and shows that people don't know what an AKT profile is. ?

[APP] SwitchMe Root Profile Manager needs INCS testers please!

Hi everyone. Im one of the developers of SwitchMe, and app that allows multiple secure logins into separate installations of android on a single device. The pr is after the break.
I really need a few people to check into some issues people on some roms have been experiencing. There are some warnings involved:
- testers must perform a full nandroid backup before using the app, it is not our responsibility if you start getting boot loops
- if you report results or bugs, please use the "Write to us" function in the app whenever possible, and always describe the issue in the header of the logs you send
- if you post here, be sure to include your device type and rom
- if you have apps installed on sd, be sure to mention that as well
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an
account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps,
others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data.
Why is this functionality useful?
Privacy - the most obvious benefit is that you can securely share one device among multiple users, which gives you privacy and peace of mind.
Testing - if you are a developer, you can use profiles as clean sandboxes to test your applications and their interaction with the system.
Gaming – with multiple installations of Android on a single device, you can now play online MMOs as different characters.
Speed - the games your kids play slow down your tablet, but with SwitchMe you can easily create profiles without games or instant messengers.
Battery life - when the battery is low but there are important emails or documents to edit later, switch to a profile which only contains these essentials.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.

The Lite version allows the creation of two profiles, enough to test on.
Screens:
Just started to test it, created 2 profiles : one main, one for testing the switching. After first switch, loading circle started, remained stuck for 10secs (same happens when switching back), then restarted. New loading screen showed up, first load took about 5-7mins. After all loaded, switchme requested SU perms and new google account interface started.
One possible bug i noticed, usually when new google account interface starts, the mobile data service is started so you would have connectivity. This time it didn't start (i had it turned off in profile 1, then switched to profile 2). Although it works properly, it just didn't start at first startup.
All my installed/downloaded applications are not included in the app drawer, so that works nice.
But a drawback i noticed. If the app is focused on the privacy part of sharing one device, gallery pics&videos are accessible from both profiles, so you might want to think of a way of restricting pics&vids accessibility only to the profile that created them (big challenge from my point of view).
All default installed application seem to work without a problem.
One strange thing i noticed, our custom ROM has Beats audio included - in profile 1 (my default one) switching Beats audio on/off works, but on profile 2 (newly created profile) switching it off makes it stuck on off (switching it back on has no effect on audio).
As i don't have a necessity for this app to run it as a daily profile switcher, can't test more in-depth scenarios, but if you want something tested/have a scenario, write it up here or send a PM. Good luck with the development.
Using Nik IncredibleS Trinity SensationXL4.0 ROM (2.3.5 android with 3.5 sense) with included 2.6.35.14 RCMIX VIVO kernel (with my HTC Incredible S S710e).
SwitchMe 1.2 has been rolled out and now includes a lockscreen replacement:

1.5.3.8
Fixed issue switching profiles (One X and others)
Fixed rare crash on adding/ removing profiles
Fixed many device specific issues from user logs
- Only bug/or maybe a feature I noticed is The app itself have different settings between logons. I mean If I optimize in one logon, I must made the same changes in other account too. Its sometimes frustating.
- And the setting "logout automatically" not worked correctly. When I speak to someone on phone and proximty turn of the screen, and I remove phone from my ear, It shows the logon screen, everytime.
Seems like everything worked flawlesly. But I have a question. What happens if I uninstall the program?

[App] SwitchMe - Share Your Device - MULTIPLE USER SPACES

Hi guys Im one of the developers of SwitchMe - an app that creates multiple user spaces. We have just released a new build which should fully support the T2s. Please have a look and let me know if everything is working as it should!
Thanks in advance, PR after the break:
.................................................................................................
SwitchMe - share your device!
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple user spaces just as you would on a desktop computer, with each profile having its own separate system settings, apps and data.
Some of the benefits of this technology:
Privacy
Securely share one device among many users, protect your accounts with passwords and log out automatically.
Kids
Create a profile for the kids, with only the apps and access you feel comfortable with.
Gaming
Overclock your profile for maximum performance in intensive games
Speed
Imagine a buttery smooth profile, with no kids games, messengers or bloatware to slow things down.
Testing
Create a sandbox profile to easily test applications and themes - no more nandroid nightmares!
Battery
Switch to a profile which only contains the essentials to save power through brute force.
Critical usage warning:
Incorrect use of this application can potentially harm your device. Before proceeding with use we strongly recommend that you perform a full nandroid backup through the device recovery.
READ THE HELP FILE CAREFULLY TO AVOID ISSUES
Without the Key, this application allows a maximum of 2 profiles and no security features.
Only the standard Android implementation of Apps2SD is currently supported. Use all others at your own risk.
Most devices should be compatible as long as they have enough free internal memory to create secondary profiles. The application will warn users if available memory is low.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.

Guys there have been reports of the app being blank sometimes. Im trying to work out if this is something to do with superuser vs supersu. If youve experienced this, please let me know and be sure to tell me which of the two youre using...
I haven't been having that problem since I disabled the "switch screen functionality" in the settings. I do use the "fast switch" option and just open the app when I want to switch profiles. I am using SuperSU v0.96

You disabled the two main functions just because you sometimes couldn't see the statistics page? That seems a little extreme...

No, not just because it didn't show statistics, but I wouldn't be able to switch users unless I rebooted the device. When the problem would occur it also wouldn't bring up the switch user screen on the lock screen after waking up. If the icon notification was enabled it just opened up the statistic screen, not the user switch screen. I would get stuck in the current users profile until I rebooted and hoped the switch user screen would show after start up.
I like the functionality of the switch user screen but with it glitching like that on my device the only sure way to be able to switch profiles is to disable all that and just go into the app/statistic screen and click switch at the bottom.
I just noticed that there is a widget for this app that allows switching profiles without opening the app.

I think your problem is with supersu (if thats what youre using). If possible, change it to superuser or at least make sure that youve set supersu up to always grant and whatever.
Supersu is very green and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
I have used this app for awhile now and really love it as it allows both my girlfriend and I to separately use my nexus 7 without interfering with each others settings. However, I recently flashed a CM 10 nightly (which i really like) and the switcher no longer works, freezing during each switch attempt.
I know it says CM 10 is not supported at the current time on the app page, but are there an plans to include this support in the future? Any info is appreciated and thanks for your work.

[suggestion] profiles

When i make an Xposed Mod, I often find myself disabling all others
Can we perhaps have an option to have profiles
So i can have one profile which has mod A,B,C enabled
And another which has D, E, F enabled
And i can easily switch
So how many users will be using this kind of profiles? I don't think this is a usecase of the average user.
However, you can implement it in a fork and use it for yourself. I think this is the better solution after all.
I agree, this seems to be a very limited use-case.
You could also try to manage this by backing up Xposed Installer's settings, especially the enabled_modules.xml.

Tasker :post your tasker profiles

Hi.
Tasker beta updated recently to 4.8 and support new tile for
CM quick settings
So
i create this thread
to post and explore new profiles
I follow many projects from google and reddit
So i have set profiles for automate gps to high accuracy and back with secure settings
Vpn connect on wifi except secure point
Usb debuging only when i connect to certain pc (and just in case) when shutdown my device beacause i use encryption
Send sms to caller when driving
But most usefulls profiles found how to auto change cm profiles based taskers options cell near or wifi near bt near location etc...
CM detect profiles and CM profiles changer found to reddit are great jobs???
i expand my usage to CM profiles options
Based to these variables tasker upgrade all my device capabilites
Whats yours?
Is there a way for tasker you know if you've unlocked your phone. I want a task that flashes certain information when I unlock my phone

Tasker
%myDISPLAY is similar to the %SCREEN variable in Tasker, but it adds unlocked as a possible value, allowing us to differentiate between on and unlocked. These values are set based on the corresponding Tasker Events, and can be used as a Context (using Variable Value), or for flow control within Tasks.
Both of these didn't work. Maybe it's because I'm on the lg g4 and not on aosp

Tasker recognize unlock as event so
Add a profile/event/display/unlock
Make a simple task to check if working
If work you can create a flow action
So monitor when device unlock (one profile)
And change variable value
and execute the desire task.(second profile) when new value set

Did you try secure settings?
On Lolipop I have problem with mobile data dont automatic connect when I am out of wifi area.
Is there any way for tasker to solve this problem, I buy it last night, but its littly too complicated for me.
So something like this, when out of wifi area, connect to 3g, when in wifi area disconnect 3g.
What phone and what rom do you use?

Did you post? Have you done clean installation?
I known its the main funcion od device, but I have trouble with every ROM on lolipop with this. Clean install, delete all apn create new, works one day ok, then same problem.
Thank you, will try to do this.

[AKT][25th Dec][BETA] Advanced Kernel Tweaks v2.2.2 For OP5 & S835 devices

After the enormous success and admiration from the discerning users, and being featured on a lot of sites among which are quite famous sites for the tech enthusiasts such as Android Authority and XDA's Portal, it was extremely hard on me and my fellow developers not to extend our support to such a great device as the OnePlus 5. But thankfully, my colleague XDA Recognised Contributor @Funk Wizard came to the rescue and made that possible. I am quite sure that you all would like to join me to thank @Funk Wizard and OnePlus' Adam Krisko for giving me the honour to develop for such a mesmerising device. Hopefully you can enjoy my endeavours in that project. I would also like to thank my fellow leading developers of the original AKT project @Senthil360 @patalao and @Asiier for doing their best. It was a wonderful journey that I am certain it wouldn't have been that enjoyable without them. And of course, I would like to say a huge thanks to all the users of AKT for their feedback and care - that goes without saying. I know I have been late and I am sure many have longed the release for unbearably long time, but as they say, better late than never.
Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby declare AKT support of the OnePlus 5!
If you are not familiar with what AKT is, I strongly urge you to head over to the original thread herehttps://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/advanced-interactive-governor-tweaks-t3476589/
Now let's get to business. With the initial release, you shall find all the profiles you used to find in AKT for the OP3/3T and a pair of two new quite experimental profiles developed by my teammate @RogerF81 tailored specifically for those who use the EAS based RenderZenith kernel and Revan kernel, under the name of Soilwork, with a battery variant and balanced variant. Those who are unfamiliar, here is the breakdown of what you will find:
AKT is mainly divided into 3 segments: Battery, Performance and Balanced.
In each segment, the profiles are organised from the least battery friendly to the most battery friendly in ascending order
Installation:
1- Download the latest AKT zip file from the download link below
2- Reboot into TWRP recovery
3- Flash the zip file you have previously downloaded
4- Reboot into system and leave it for a couple of minutes to settle
5- Open your desirable terminal emulator app
6- Grant it root permissions by typing "su" (without quotes)
7- Type "AKT" (without quotes). It MUST be capitalized or else it won't work
8- Follow the on-screen instructions displayed. I am fairly confident that they are intuitive enough to guide you to your profile
9- Enjoy!!
Notes:
-> To judge the profile in question fairly, more particularly when it comes to evaluating how better or worse the profile has performed on the battery life front, you must use the profile for at least 2-3 charges (about 3 days) to expose the profile to all your different usage patterns.
-> Battery life can be judged quite well with the aid of some figures, such as the active and passive drain rates reported from apps like EX Kernel Manager or AccuBattery. The separation of the active and idle drain rates is crucial when it comes to judging such things.
-> If you are worried about the impact of AKT on your idle drain, then I strongly suggest you to read this post here. I believe this should clear a lot of the common misconceptions.
-> This tweak is applicable across all phones that share the same SoC, that is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. However, it won't be as compatible as with the OnePlus 5 due to various differences in the UI skin the phone in question bears and the presence of some proprietary engines, some of which can be quite intrusive like HTC's pnpmgr. I reckon it is still worth a try though. Worst case would be full incompatibility which can be remedied by following the on-screen instructions to uninstall AKT

Just a reminder for all new (and I guess some veteran users as well)
If you have a question or problem about the tweaks you can either just ask it on the thread so anybody can answer it, but If you want to use to get noticed about your question please use the mention system
For example use @Asiier, so I will get noticed
Although most of the questions and problems would have been addressed on FAQ, so go ahead and take a look at it before posting anything.
If you do post, please give as much information as possible!
So, concerning the Soilwork tweaks, my fellow teammate @Mostafa Wael already introduced them in some future, I plan to provide HMP tweaks as well, but this will take some time. I'm new to AKT, but I have some experiences due to Advanced kernel tweaks for the Nexus 5X, LG G4, Nexus 6P and my very own profiles for the HTC 10. As @Mostafa Wael already said, my tweaks are a bit experimental. The aim is to provide accurate balance between battery and performance on my balanced profile, and really good battery life on my battery profile obviously. So far, my introduction
