Hi there,
I recently dropped my dear Z3 Compact on a rock and the screen is completely cracked (glass + screen + digitizer).
I really love that phone and I want to try to repair it by myself (also, I would like to get back my pictures...).
After a couple of day of Googling, I found that I could by a replacement screen without frame or a replacement screen with frame. It's roughly the same price, so I don't know what to choose.
Is it easier to change the all frame since the screen is already glued ?
Is it more reliable with the frame ?
Thank a lot for your help ! (And long life to the Z3 Compact! :victory: )

Definitely go for a screen with frame. I would suggest to buy second hand but original screen as the "chinese" versions are low quality. If you would buy just the screen without the frame it is really hard to stick it into the frame and if you eventually do it after a while it will come off or start to come off. Hard to stick I mean there is not much space to put an adhesive tape unless you'll get some original adhesive tape for it. But from my experience I was giving extra $ to purchase original screeen with the frame. Changing it its not so complicated but you have to be carefull with ribbons. Good luck

Thank you for your help.
Finding a cheap second hand original screen seems not really easy nowadays. So, I think I would have to try the "chinese" ones.
I found an offer for a Z3 Compact replacement screen with frame on a website called eTradeSupply.
Do you know this website ? And the quality of their products ? It seems that grade S+ is full OEM but I am not sure if it's true.

I have attached a photo of my AT&T Tilt. I recently dropped it and I want to know if I just need to replace the screen or if there is another issue. The phone works perfectly but the screen has weird colors and distortion. Also, this is the screen I was looking at purchasing to replace the damaged screen: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-LCD-Touch-S...c0.m14&_trkparms=65:16|66:2|39:1|293:2|294:50 .

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it might have to do with the ribbon cable that goes to the screen.

I just had a similar problem. Dropped my work laptop right on my screen, corner first mind you haha...
I bought this http://cgi.ebay.com/US-LCD-Screen-D...trkparms=65:12|66:1|39:1|72:1234|293:2|294:25
and got it fixed no problem. Took about 2 hours of tearing it apart and reassembling to do.
The screen includes the cable so if that is the issue then you are still fine. The screen comes with the dissembler tool, and the security screwdrivers you will need.
See the Kaiser Wiki for full disassemble instructions that worked quite well for me.
bobtheamazing - can you let me know how is the quality of the new screen?
uzim289 if you bought yours - can you let me know how the quality of the screen is ?
and any personal advice if i decide to take mine apart. Thank you.
I took mine to Vegas, kept it in my pocket, it was sure hot and my screen cracked... need to replace but wasn't sure if i should spend $80 on a certain website of just go the route of ebay.
Before you buy another screen I would recommend taking the phone apart first and just checking to see if the connector is loose. How far of a drop was it and what kind of surface did it hit?
This site

I got my replacement screen from here and it was the best decision. trust me. I replaced my screen about 4 months ago, and my Tilt is just fine.
I bought a replacement for my Kaiser at Marktplaats.nl but that's for the netherlands. Replaced the lcd according the video from Fonlogix. I uploaded the video allso a while ago to youtube which made it verry easy to replace and now it works like a charm again. You might whant to check THIS SITE for a replacement.
Good luck.
:Edit:
I just noticed Fonlogix is cheaper
I replaced my sons Tilt LCD been like 8 months now works perfect no issues!
Not that hard to replace the screen just have to keep a sharp eye out for the teeny tiny screws!
Anybody know where to get the 'teeny tiny' screws? As I was removing the job wheel assembly, the small silver-colored screw was stripped out. Funny, it was the correct screwdriver size and everything, and other screws came out fine.
Anyone knows where i can find it? Mine is slightly loose now, (after i opened it for changing the SD-card)
Any help is much appreciated.

I bought mine and didn't even touch it and there's a gap between the charger and the bottom cover of the phone where you can see the SIM card. Just a very poor design.
I have the same problem. I opened it to swap the sd card, and since then it doesn't close perfectly anymore.
I called htc about this, and they confirm that they only sell the upper part of the back cover. You can send it in, but then it'll cost you about 40 dollars for the fix, minus the shipping. I just ordered a silicone cover instead.
I just hope that they will start selling those bottom parts too.

I agree with you I have seen many review criticise this! There seems to be a poor quality control at HTC for the HD7, the gap to me looks like about 1mm that's not acceptable!
Fortunately I have been very luck my HD7 does not have that gap!
It's a shame ... seriously ... the back housing is not the only part of a low quality ...
Even the power button doesnt seem to work properly (after two week of usage!) and i have to press it really hard to get it to work.
and I also saw the "Tarnished camera button" in the other thread ...
HTC!!!! SERIOUSLY?!!!
my local HTC repair shop contacted a lot of people but was also unable to get the part. i am thinking of superglue right now ...
superglued down. no other option but its perfect now
The gap annoyed me after I upgraded it to 32GB... So I carefully sanded down some of the plastic lugs and superglued the bottom part to the body. Yup, I know it was quite drastic but at least I've ended up with a perfect HD7... And a voided warranty! It's a shame that HTC allowed this horrible gap. My old HD2 was much better finished.
As much as i'd like to post a link for some back covers for you all there seems to be a lack of spare parts for the moment . I did however find a coverall solution that although doesn't fix your phones will at least let you hold it together until we can buy some at a later date

If you don't like the look of those there are various ones available from the us http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_np...313&_nkw=hd7+casing&_sacat=See-All-Categories
Hi,
My Z3C must've randomly lost part of the bottom bezel at some point - I still don't understand why and how.
Phone was always in a TPU bumper case so it can't fall off or out. Must've gotten loose and dropped at some point when I removed the bumper to remove the sim card.

The part that's missing is the edge part between bottom bezel and SIM card flap.
Phone was just sent in for repair for another issue(vibration more had a loose connection) and I got it back without issues..but that part of the bezel is still missing. Didn't mention it when it was repaired in fear of Sony denying a warranty repair.
Fixing it would be 5s job with super glue....so any idea where and how to get that part ?
Did lots of googling but couldn't find anything.
Only other option I could think of would be buying a broken/dead Z3C and ripping that bezel piece off.
youll probably have to get the whole frame
Seems like a waste. The small part that's missing ist just glued on.
Guess I'll have to look for a broken Z3C to get the spare part.
Are there Showroom models of the Z3C ? Like they have in shops sometimes, just the exterior without any electronics inside.
*Edit* Oh ok now I realize what you meant.

Didn't expect the entire frame to be that cheap! Thanks m8.
I have a lot of it but if You live outside EU shipping can be more expensive than those fram on eBay.
I do live in the EU but allready ordered the ebay bezel.
Thanks though, might help out the next guy.
No problem. I have a lot of it cause whole frame is a trash after changing whole screen using original part. Anyway good advice for You - change only bumpers You need, not the whole frame. If You don't have knowledge hot to remove screen safety just skip it.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact using XDA Labs
Hello everyone! This morning, I removed the screen protector that came with my replacement display which I have been using for months now because it had too many scratches. After removing it, nothing was out of the blue until I noticed a large patch of uneven pixels in the shape of a rectangle. Can someone explain to me why this happens and the best way to solve it?
I've read some others had luck by just leaving it alone and letting it disappear on its own (usually within a week or so). My screen does not show any signs of screen burn-in and only shows image retention when watching 16:9 content for long periods of time (~usually 40 minutes at most)

This is an image of my phone with the said rectangle.
App: OLED Tools
The rectangle is mostly noticeable when viewing dark images or gray backgrounds. It is also noticeable when looking at dark greens.
Mine did the same thing after removing my glass screen protector (Dome). Took a good 3 weeks to a month to fade enough that I can just ever ever so slightly notice it. I was really bummed out because the phone is flawless, and I wanted to change to a new protector.
But yeah, it faded away. I just looked again and I can't see it anymore.
I don't understand how the screen protector has anything to do with that or why it wasn't visible before. Disconcerting...
It's really very odd. First phone that has ever done something like that.
All I can say is always use OEM parts with these devices. That includes the adhesive strips.
I've repaired Canon pro cams before and having the exact parts makes the difference.
I hope it works out for you.

It was replaced by an authorized Samsung Service Center I know the parts are legit.
It's been a few weeks now, and it's not as noticeable anymore!
Hi All,
I bought a new S20 FE 5G from Amazon Germany, the phone was a bit dusty directly from the box and it was on ONE UI 3.1 by default, also its screen protector with not the one which I saw in most of the unboxing, it was a screen protector without a circle in the middle for the fingerprint.
What makes me feel more worried that I was able to pass a paper between the phone back cover and the aluminium frame as you could see in the picture, so I got worried that the phone is not water-resistant!
Please, would you advise me if you have faced or you have the same, is what I have is normal or a faulty, I will highly appreciate your advice?
Many thanks,
Cheers.

I just tried with the corner of a post-it-note, I was able to poke the corner in about half way up the side of the phone. my phone was definitely new and direct from Samsung.
did you buy yours as a refurbished device because it should not be on 3.1 unless it's the 4G Snapdragon version ?
if you were expecting a brand new phone you haven't been given one and should complain / return it.
I bought it as new and I have confirmed from Samsung that the phone is new and original, do you think the gap between the back cover and the aluminium frame is a normal thing?

I would've said no before reading this post and getting curious. depends if you can get paper passed where water resistant gasket / adhesive seal should be. if you can push in a lot more than 3 or 4mm I'd be concerned.

The factory screen protector has a cutout for the camera, but it never had a cutout for the optical fingerprint reader Where did you get that idea?

Fact is, in short. A good Screen Protector does not have a "Hole" in it, for the Finger print reader.
Got mine on Amazon, USA. Back in Jan'21
