So, I tried to root my brand new nuu x4, but i cant find a good way to root it because it seems like any method there is of rooting isnt supported by this phone. im not exactly in a position to buy a phone just for rooting, but I would definitely enjoy a rooted phone. If there is a method that supports my phone or that supports any type of phone, im trying to root with SuperSU, through the custom recovery boot and such. thanks in advance!

I need to root the device so I can gain the full functionality of the program 'ispyoo'. Some of it's features work on a stock phone. But features like facebook, text, email monitoring only work if the device is rooted. Otherwise I have no need to root the device. Would like it to resemble 'stock' yet be rooted.
Looking for the most basic, simple, and stable way to go about rooting and roming this device.
Best I have gathered is I need to unlock boot loader, root the device, and install a custom rom.... What am I missing? Any suggestions or directions to a post/video I should look at will be much appreciated.

Verizon blocked unlocking the bootloader .. you have to use Firewater or SunShine to get s-off to unlock a Verizon One
The steps for unrooting a HTC One are:
Unlock the bootloader.
This is normally done through HTC Developer, but the person above me says that this is not possible for Verizon M7s; I can't comment as I am from the UK, but if you follow his instructions that should be this part done.
Flash a custom recovery.
ROMs are installed through a part of the OS called recovery; this is separate to the Android system. TWRP is my personal favourite, but there are others you can use.

Flash a custom ROM.
For most people, the next step is to install their favourite custom operating system. If you just want to keep stock like you said, you still need to flash a custom ROM, but in this case it would be the rooted stock ROM; the Verizon rooted stock can be found here, along with instructions.

Hiya all! I was hoping i could get some advice on your recommended method for rootng my new S5. I havent done a root since i bought my s4 over a year ago, so i wanna get up to speed on current rooting. I already tried the Towelroot and it doesnt work on my phone. Im guessing my phone came preloaded with the update that breaks towelroot. I tried the tricks with changing the number values in Towel by tapping the screen 3 times , but none of them worked, they all say my phone isnt compatible. So id like to know a few things. A: which root method do you wonderful XDA peeps recommend i use? and B: what would u recommend i do to remove all the annoying bloatware and such? Its been a while for me, so i didnt wanna rush headlong into this without getting a professional opinion first. Perhaps theres a good custom Rom i could flash?

I have had a huge amount of frustration attempting to root the XT1064 over the past couple of days. If you're not afraid of reflashing your phone then you can try it but I highly doubt you'll be able to get it to work.
You can easily upgrade it to Lollipop with "official" firmware, but rooting has given me bootloop after bootloop.
After purchasing the Moto G XT1064 and spending 8+ hours trying to update and root the phone and remove all of the Motorola crapware, I eventually gave up. Right now I have version 22.11.6 installed, which is named "Blur_Version.21.11.17.titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.US.zip", it makes sense to include the old version number, but they should at least call it "Blur_Version_from.21.11.17.titan...".
I really wish Google would REQUIRE manufacturers to release a stock android rom and an easy way to flash it with every consumer Android phone sold. Then developers could focus on improving the phone instead of millions of programmer-hours wasted on trying to remove the crapware and get it updated.
If you're a developer who wants a clean phone and don't want to waste dozens of hours screwing with flashing roms, just get a GPE or Nexus device, it's not worth saving $200. It's a great phone, but if you were looking for a phone that is easy to develop with, this doesn't seem like the right one. After my Droid X I swore off non-nexus devices, but the Amazon sale got me.
A couple of people claim to be able to get UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.16.zip working, (yes, SuperSU v2.39 exists now, it probably won't work though), but many more people (including myself) were not able to get it working.
Good luck! Please report back if you find a good solution, I'm guessing that many people are tired of the hoops we have to jump through to get a non-crapware stock Andorid device.
The seller kindly told me he can exchange my XT1064 for an XT1063, as rooting is my first concern (need to get Japanese fonts on it). So I hope to easily root with CF-Auto-Root now. I'll get my new phone in two days. I'm already crossing my fingers . Rooting should be a readily available option by the manufacturer, just like Motorola offers you to unlock the bootloader. Otherwise you're extremely limited. For example, to change a font. Samsungs let you do it in the original firmware, something as basic as this should already be in stock Android. And at least ext2 support, it's a Linux FS from 1993. We are stuck with crappy FAT32.

You can change the file systems using: TWRP2.7.1.1-titan-motog-2014.img as your recovery.
I agree about the manufacturers. I thought it was growing pains in the early days of Android but we millions of us have to waste several hours trying to get decent security, privacy, and performance out of our phones. All anybody wants is stock Android.
Great if you try, I've seen no feedback of someone using it on XT1064. Won't changing the recovery affect future OTA updates? I was thinking of trying Stickmount with NTFS-3G. It only needs rooted device.

I was able to get 5.0 rooted. Not with CF Auto Root though.
I used TWRP2.7.1.1-titan-motog-2014.img and BETA-SuperSU-v2.38.zip but SuperSU had to be put on my internal storage.
Can you go back to stock recovery after installing SuperSU? As to have future OTA updates. I'm mean, only use TWRP for rooting.

You put SuperSU on internal storage because that's the only way TWRP can flash it or because that's the only way you could get root (I.e., flashing from external storage didn't work)?
I have tried both CFAutoRoot and flashing SuperSU from external storage. SuperSU resulted in bootloop. AutuRoot worked but I couldn't power off my phone without the next power up throwing things into a bootloop. I chose not to leave my phone on all the time, so flashed a non-root backup.
I haven't tried flashing SuperSU from internal storage. So maybe that's something to try.
Ever since I've rooted my Moto G 2nd Gen (Consumer Cellular) with Kingroot it has been starting to take a full 5-7 minutes just to boot up. The weird part of it is that the device reboots itself automatically 3 times just to finally boot to the OS. I have no clue of what's going on at the moment, but this is an incredibly irritating issue. Any thoughts? Any help will obviously be appreciated.

To root your Moto G you have to unlock your bootloader on Motorola page,flash or boot into custom recovery (TWRP) and then flash latest super SU from there.
Or after unlocking use chainfires autoroot.

I have the same problem anyone know what causes this long boot time? The kingroot works great in every other way and no need for unlocking boot loader or even the need for a pc making it a very easy option. Any experience of this root method from anyone here?

That's an awful way to root and frankly almost if not impossible to do. This phone needs to be unlocked to root and anything other than that way is bound to fail.
Well that's not the case it does not fail it works great with just a small issue of longer boot time. Far from being an awful way it's actually a brilliant way as it makes it so easy for people with minimum fuss. What I'm really looking for is some constructive information from someone who has good knowledge of this root method. The boot time is not really a big deal I'm just interested to know why it does this.

Well have at it. It's obviously a poor choice as you'll eventually discover. Some people just look for ways to fail.
I think it's more people look for new ways and that's not a bad thing. Everything moves on and what was not possible to do becomes possible. Yes it maybe true that there can be problems but there are few that can't be overcome. Every method was unknown and risky as some point but that's just how it will always be. You got to admit kingroot have done what everyone said was impossible so that's pretty clever of them. Hopefully someone a lot more clever than me will work out about the little side effect in time.
Update: Tel864 is quite right although this does root your phone it causes problems with boot that just get worse over time. I've flashed stock back on mine I'll probably re root but with the recommended method so yes I retract all the above!
What scares me about Kingroot is the fact that it's just a collection of exploits that forces changes to the bootloader. It sort of goes against the very thing that makes Android safer.

Yes your right and I imagine eventually may brick the phone. I have rooted the proper way now and installed a custom ROM so ended up with a much better situation.

Ok I'm sorry if this is stupid but this is my first root, I just got the acer iconia one 8 (B1-850). I was able to root it with kingoroot and replace their super user app with supersu but I can't seem to get a custom recovery installed that is comparable with it. Also I'm trying to install the xposed framework and I know I need the armv8 version but I don't know which one because I'm still using the stock rom, I would prefer to stick with stock but if I can't can someone link a good one?
Sorry as I said this is my first root and I'm hitting a dead end with my researching, or I just misunderstand a cow principal.
