So,Can I Flash A Honor 6x Custom Rom On The P8 Lite 2017?!
Since The Both Have Similar Specs Like:
3GB Ram
Kirin 655
Cause My Phone Is Broke..Can't Go Anywhere Except TWRP&Fastboot!
i think it will work.
like for p9 lite and honor 5c, they have the same soc, someone tried to flash p9 lite rom on honor 5c device and it worked. check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...de-porting-5c-models-p9-lite-roms-5c-t3444021

Marshmellow would probably run fine on our phones. No issues there.
I would imagine one would feel like it is a step back, though. You're basically downgrading.
As soon as I receive my phone I will start working on porting some custom ROMs over (assuming I have the time for it).
As for the battery, the battery cell should not affect the ROM other then in the obvious way: how long it will run without running out of juice.
If you want you can try and see if it runs. Then again, make sure you have a valid, full backup of your current firmware so you can easily return to Nougat if you so wish.
EDIT:
I am forgetting one important part.
Check first if the 6X rom runs on the same kernel version, etc. The kernel might be a problem here.

It didn't work out for me.My device is bricked right now
I tried to flash everything from the update.app with Huawei Update Extractor
I flashed boot.img,system.img,cust.img these flashed okay (with fastboot)
But product.img,vendor.img, version.img didn't work (with fastboot)
So I tried to flash the failed ones in TWRP and only one of the three worked and it was version.img
Right now I extracted the vendor.img,product.img and copied the files to the root of the system within TWRP
Finally i rebooted the device and it keeps rebooting itself again and again and it goes to eRecovery
So can you help me please..it will be much appreciated
Sorry for the necroposting but, has anyone tested this? If we can get Marshmallow on this phone, we can install xposed framework too!

You can't flash ROM from different device. Flash official firmware you had to recover the phone.

It is because of the system, that is packed in a .DAT way and our TWRP seems that can't flash .dat... (or maybe there is an error in the method in the script that will loop when flashing... with our twrp of course because with honor 6x it works...) someone needs to "EXTRACT" the system from the "system.new.dat" and then to write a script (updater-script) that flash it. If you know how to do please do this! Thank you!

What about huawei p9 lite rom on the honor 5c? it worked...
We aren't flashing an entire firmware... only system. And the devices are really similar... Same chipset, same ram, same cpu, etc
I know that rom aren't universal because of drivers... Well, but a "cpu X" driver will works on EVERY "cpu X", will it?

That is how it worked for most of the chineese tablets. with the same MTK cpus, if you flashed the rom, sometimes Autorotate wont work, or touch screen might fail, but for the majoeity roms i've tried on my tablet (now its in the trash) they've atleast booted
I'll receive my P8Lite 2k17 in 2-3 days and try to get ViperFX to work.. (has anyone got that working?) and wait for AOSP roms to come out (If we'll get the source code)

Yup, Viper4Android works on my rooted P8 Lite 2017.
I also used to have a lot of MTK Chinese devices, two of those the Jiayu G3 and Neo M1, and there were a lot of cross-compatible ROMs even from different manufacturers but with the same SOC.
I would love to try out the GR5 2017 ROMs on my GR3 2917 since both have the same SOC and most of the features are the same, except for the battery, camera, and screen size, but my phone is a work phone, so I can't afford to mess up.

Hi
I think the Directory-Structure is different in the latest FW!
When i try to flasha Custom Keyboard like the one from Sony Xperia Z3 it doesnt appear in settings!
But on older FW it does!
Have anybody a plan where i must extract manually the zip from Custom Keyboards?
TWRP goes up to B130? So you might unzip it then install apk manually. About TWRP, I never tried in B151, but B130 I have. I am tired about "Your device is not trustworthy"-ish message every time I boot it up, so I just re-lock my device... Have you tried Settings - Apps - Menu (at the bottom of the screen) - Show system processes? Any flashed apps goes as System app, I think.
Anybody else have the issue that Xposed framework stopped working for this firmware?
The zip file flashes fine without returning any errors but it still says framework not installed in the app.
Tried with several versions of Xposed.
Before the update it worked fine...

Really strange... That is the one I also flashed...
But does not seem to work...
However, I have a L31 with B150. I also cannot activate the DT2Wake function on my device.
Somehow I think I have an overly restricted kernel in my device
But as soon as we have CM I'll say goodbye to EMUI anyway...
Sorry but it's the first time I update EMUI on my P9 Lite so I'd like to ask... If I update it, what will I lose? Root and bootloader? Or only Xposed won't work anymore?

If you install it via twrp bootloader won't be relocked, if via dload bootloader will be locked, twrp will be lost in both ways.

Twrp will be lost eventually, bootloader will be locked only if you install via dload (the standard installation provided by Huawei)

What's the impact of updating to latest official stock ? any known issues ?
I updated to beta Nougat using a non-official-beta method and am somehow stuck with NRD90M test keys as my build number. The rom works ok for the most part, the only thing which doesn't seem to work properly is Themes.
Would now like to know what the appropriate process is to go to the new and official stock Nougat for EVA-L19. Thanks community!
So was I and I posted about it here and got the right advice to roll back:

thank you zemblance! so it would appear that i would have to rollback to stock then only update to official nougat using the built-in updater huh?
Which recovery did u use ? I got that same problem when I flashed with 3.0.0.0 instead of 3.0.2.0

not sure which TWRP i used but its fixed now. i did the rollback to lollipop. now on B190 but now Themes is being wonky and I have no magazine unlock. :/
Flash 136 again, there should be two folders hw and dt that need to be in the dload folder too.
If they aren't there you could try flashing the l09 136 first then the l19 one straight after.

So I managed to get myself into this bind as well back in January, but I just didn't have the stamina to fight it and I've been running that crap ever since. Now I thought it time to take care of it.
This is the scenario. I got an unlocked EVA-L09 with TWRP 3.0.2.0 running build NRD90M test-keys and I want to "fix it" and update it to the latest version.
What do I need to do and in what order. Like, do I need to unroot/restore the Huawei bootloader, do I need to rollback to Android 6 before starting over, etc..?
And I can as well ask if the Huawei builds are preferable or perhaps there's some other ROM/mod out there worth using instead? I was on CM for years before I got the P9, though such a ROM is of course unlikely to ever be made for the P9, maybe there's a good mod..?

You need to download and flash the appropriate hw data update zip for the ROM that you installed.
And if you check out this forum you will see there is both Lineage OS (aka CM) and CM13 ROMs for the P9 :good:
Peace.

Eh, yeah, that I know, but I'm not going to try to figure this out myself again as last time I did, I spent two days trying to get my phone to boot at all - and that's a first since I started messing with ROM's back in the HTC Hero days.
And I thought the undocumented SoC made "real" custom ROM's on P9 impossible - or did Huawei release the doc's?

Ok, so get the 2 files for the ROM you want, and flash update zip then hw data update zip next.
It worked in either TWRP or dload method for me. Of course, for dload method you need to unzip and flash each zip in turn, or TWRP can flash one after the other. Flashing will relock your bootloader...
Well, if you note my post count and alike, I'm not really a newbie here, I got 10 years experience messing about with custom Android ROM's and about the same experience of general Linux experience on top of that, so when I don't wanna do this without some trustworthy information on the workflow, etc, you should get there's good reason. So posting replies like -Oh, just flash something, it'll work out!, that looks a lot to me you just having been really lucky not getting into the situation I did.
So I will repost the question I posed and hopefully someone with that know how will reply.

Just to clarify....
I had an unlocked EVA-L09 with TWRP, running build NRD90M test-keys, and I wanted to fix it....
So, I downloaded update.zip and update_data_full_hw_eu.zip and flashed them one after the other using dload method. It worked. That was my workflow.
Just trying to help out, don't get shirty about it....or you can wait for someone who's been on the forum longer than me, or who has a higher post count than me. Btw, I've received help before from folks with very low post count and I know it's no indication or predictor of noob-ness.
Peace out...
*I* did the exact same thing and then spent the following 30 hours trying to get it to even boot.
And I really didn't want to be rude, but if I got that kinda post number, I'm not likely to ask for help with something like this unless I really needed it. As I said, I have a lot of experience of this stuff and I still messed up immensely trying this the first time, so I'm not even going to try before I have someone who really knows what *NOT* to do give me some hints on how to avoid getting into the same spot - because I'm not doing another 30h trying to save this phone if I mess up again, I'll just smash it and buy something else, like a used Nokia 3310, because it's just not worth the stress.
Hi everyone !
I rooted my Honor 5C a while ago and everything went smoothly. After installing Xposed, some modules and some nice root apps, I decided to take a step forward.
Lately, I heard of MicroG to replace Google Apps and Services. Since I'm actually and for quite some time trying to degooglise myself more and more, it catched my interest. Thus, according to several tutorials, I used Root App Deleter to uninstall GApps, in order to replace them with the MicroG framework. Then I reboot and... well my device was unable to pass the Honor screen. So I went to TWRP recovery menu and tried a factory reset, which changed nothing, so I went deeper in the wipe settings and wiped... pretty much everything yeah. This was quite a stupid thing to do, now I don't even have an OS installed on my phone...
And of course, I've been stupid enough to never did a nandroid backup. Feel free to yell or mock me, I know I really should have...
Anyway, at this point, it seems that the only available option to me would be to flash a stock rom to my device, but I can't find one for the EU version NEM-L51. Actually, I can't find any stock rom for Honor 5C on Huawei site, nor on the web. I did quite some research today and I swear I couldn't find anything, anywhere. And here I am.
Please guys, can someone help me ? I know I'm at fault for not taking my precautions before doing some risky stuff, and I guess it was going to happen to me one of these days, but I hope there is something I can do.
Thanks in advance for reading and eventually trying to help me if you can.
See ya !

i guess thats the only thing you can do unless someone else uploads a twrp backup that you can flash.
to start download honor multitool and huawei update extractor. use the unbrick option use lowest Bxxx number first until the phone boots. may have to wait a few minutes
or idk if you can use the 3 button flash method, considering you dont know which version you have installed previously.

I don't know this tool, but after a quick research, it looks like Honor Multitool has been made for Honor 6 and 7 devices. Or am I wrong ? As for Huawei Update Extractor, isn't a tradition file extractor good enough for this ? I thought I could flash the ROM from the TWRP menu, but it's not going to be that easy, right ?
Anyway, links for B103 and B104 are dead. But why some zip are NEM-L51C432Bxxx and others NEM-L51C10Bxxx ? Are they from different devices ? Guess I can try them all regardless, things won't get any worse because of that, right ?
Oh, and some zip files are OTA and others are FULL, but assuming I don't have an OS installed, I guess I have to go for the FULL types, correct ?
Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm pretty unaware of what to do in these circumstances and I really hope I'll be able to get my phone working again...

In the end, I ended trying the second method from there : http://www.gizmoadvices.com/install-stock-firmware-honor-5c-b102/ with a file I got from Huawei Firmware Finder. Basically, in case this can help someone, I extracted the archive content in the internal storage (my phone was plugged to my PC while in TWRP menu), then created a dload folder within which I cut/paste the update.app previously extracted. Then I powered off my device and rebooted it while pressing the volume up, down and power button as you also suggested. After the process completed and another reboot, the whole thing was apparently good to go. For now anyway, I receive phone calls and texts, and network is functioning as well.
Still, I noticed something strange. I downloaded the NEM-L51C10B141 build version, but in my phone info, I have the NEM-L51C432B141, which wasn't even in the list of the zip files from Huawei Firmware Finder. How comes ? Plus, I can't know for sure, but I think I hadn't this version since it is apparently the most recent one available. Is it possible that I have now a more recent build version than my phone had considering it didn't seem to want to update beforehand ? Also, what could be the fallout after that ?
Again, thank you. You've been a huge help, I wouldn't have made it without you. I'll be more careful next time.

Well, I looked at the options and it's clearly not the version I had before, there are some differences here and there. Basically, the build number just refer to the latest security patches, is that it ? So if I have a more recent one, I guess it's just lucky me. Dunno why Huawei didn't propose me to update to it though... And I'm still on Android 6.0.
Sad thing is, this method apparently locked again my bootloader. I guess TWRP is gone too then... Long road ahead.
Thanks again for your help.

P8 lite regular have different specs from 2017 version, if I were you I give a try in the Honor 6x section, because the CPU is the same maybe you could get some hints there.
Other devices with same CPU:
-Honor 8 lite
-Mate 9 lite
Thank you.
But I'm not courageous to test these tools - I don't want to brick it.
So, I unlocked the bootloader and now I need something like TWRP and (maybe) a modified SuperSU to get root.
If someone has any informations about, let me know.
Regards.
Well, it should work. In the worst case you could just reflash your old recovery with fastboot.
Could you tell us if it's worth it to buy or not please ? Bcz im thinking about having one but i dont know samsung a5 2017 is cool too and better in a lot of things
i think twrp from 6x would work on P8 lite 2017
then you on terminal put (for the safest case), echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu
and you are done, it should work, on my Moto G 4G (XT1040) i do that to root on nougat
Use Magisk to root it

In my opinion its a fine phone with a good hardware and a fair price.
And very performant, too.

Without TWRP?
I'm not as good to perform only with a command-line.
Remember, your knowledges are not the same as usual...

Trying is free, but try it.
Download and install magisk from store. It will try to install binaries. If you succeed you are done. If it fails try the other solutions gave by others.
Trying is the key.

In recovery mode it doesn't work.

Of course not.
As I said: I don't know for sure , which version works with the new 2017 p8lite.
(The fone isn't mine, so I take care and don't want to brick it.)
Edit: As reported in Android-hilfe, the TWRP of Honor 6x will NOT work.
I also tried a few recovery roms, none that worked. Still waiting for a working one!

Hmm I could try see if I could help u. Could u try the mate 9 lite or any twrp (if available for nougat) and se if it wors?
In this case it can be related to kernel or some other info.
Since these devices are very similar it should be easy to port twrp

I think we should get a new section for the P8 lite 2017.

None of the TWRP did work, as a user in another Forum reported.
I can't test by myself, because the fone isn't here anymore.
I tried the RevolutionRecovery for P9 Lite Nougat. Is not able to mount system.
I tried all day long to unlock the bootloader, creating a Huawei account and following step by step the procedure to can get an unlock code. But once I got it, trying to unlock by DOS prompt, it failed and remains locked. I think because this procedure is related to P8 Lite, and not to P8 Lite 2017. Currently it seems to be there's no way yet to can root the P8 Lite 2017, unfortunately for all possessors of it, like me
I have to correct my post above.
This TWRP istn´t able to mount data, not system...but this has been described in the RevolutionRecovery thread, nothing specific to the P8 Lite 2017.
So flashing SU doesn´t work, flashing magisk zip makes the phone reboot instantly.
@Joaquito29
Unlocking the bootloader worked pretty well for me and someone in another forum said, he was able to root the phone manually by pushing su and busybox binaries to bin and xbin.

Witch guide has been used for unlocking bootloader? And for rooting without unlocking bootloader?
Thanks in advance
I have been using my Huawei Honor 5C for 6 month. Week ago, I decided to try updating my firmware from android 6 to 7. I have bricked my phone at all, as FRP was locked. I bought a DC Phoenix license and flashed some files, which I recieved from DC Support.
Everything was OK, but two days ago I tried to root my phone and install TWRP. When I try to do that, it gives me:
Fastboot: FAILED (remote: image verification error)
Contacting with DC Support doesnt give any help, as they dont know why it happens.
Did smb has the same problem as mine? If so, how did you solve it? I dont wanna buy DC license for a second time

You probably messed up like me.
I think you should download full update of the 6.0 firmware and then ^take out^ boot.img recovery.img. And system.img. Then install it through adb. 1.boot 2.recovery 3.system. It should help.
Someone told me about it in Nem-L21 Nougat tread.
I left my in Huawei seewis centre. They exchanged motherboard - it Was easiet way for them.

I have already tried it. I downloaded NEM-L51C432B130 FullOTA, unzipped it using Huawei Extractor app and flashed boot, cust, system, recovery and recovery2. After that, i rebooted my phone and had a critical error screen, which said me that I need to flash system partition (but I have flashed it). I also tried flashing rollback first, but it gives the same error. Finally, I fully flashed beta rom of android 7 and the phone has booted. The problem is that one archive of Android 7 rom has extra "data" folder, which contains system apps such as Bluetooth, Finger Scanner, Update Utility, EMUI Explorer and some others. Without them I cant use my phone, cause I often use these options. This archive with "data" folder needs to be flashed through TWRP, but I cant install TWRP on my phone (see thread question). I dont know what to do...

I know. I has Nexus 7 and it has the easiest way for flashing firmware. I dont understand why Google (or Huawei for EMUI) didnt preinstalled a small extended board with stock ROM for rescue purpose. So that, if somebody bricked his phone, he could be able to fastly rescue his phone and make it work. The worst problem of fastboot is that fastboot partition can be damaged, while you flash something. Anyway, android devs are better made FRP lock, which is useless and can be easily removed... Or they are better made some new androids every 3-6 month, wow, thats cool (no)
This problem had no solution yet. There is only one way, how I could make my phone fully-workable - wait for a stable ROM of Android 7 abd flash it through fastboot.
