Jun-3 2017 got OTA update a few weeks ago. T813 doesn't have problem connecting to 5Ghz wifi but on 5Ghz the connection is slow. Appears to be capped at about 10MB. Whenever I run speedtest while connected to my 5Ghz network I get 10MB uploads. Disconnect from 5Ghz, rerun speedtest and I get 80MB uploads. Go back to 5Ghz rerun speedtest, back to 10MB. Can reproduce this every time.
I guess I am stuck not using 5Ghz.

Found this in a different thread. Changed to channel 40 and speedtest shows upload speeds of 80MB. Netgear recommends using channels above 149 but I will stick to 40. Anyone know why using the lower band 5Ghz channels gives higher speeds than the higher band channels?
do you happen to be using a euro model in north america? what is your CSC and which country are you using the device?
On router (if possible) change channel width to 20 any frequency should fix wifi. Atleast for me this worked
Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
After changing the routers channel bandwith, this thing goes from 10 mbps to 80mbps. They need to fix this. All my other devices max out at 235mbps on 5ghz. This tab is too advanced to be doing this.
Had the exact same issue on my new T713 and the channel width change from Auto to 20 worked for me on Asus router. Left the Control Channel on Auto. Thanks!
I had this same issue too. I had to turn off Power Save Support then I didn't have anymore 5 GHz slowdowns

Mine had the slowdown with Power Save off - the channel bandwidth was what fixed mine.
hey guys, my download speed is very slow on 5ghz wifi, but few time ago was working well, I dont know what happened. My macbook reach 120MB download and 10MB upload, but my galaxy s8 shows 10MB dowload speed. I tried change my channel width on router, but didn't work.

I'm finding 5GHz to be a real mixed bag across all of my devices - Tab S2 T713, 2 iPad Air 2's, Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop, a Lenovo desktop, 2 Dell desktops, and a Galaxy S7 Edge phone. Performance seems to be inconsistent and I see complete dropouts where the band isn't even visible on some devices. This is irrespective of distance from the router, an Asus RT-AC66U_B1, number of connected devices, etc. When it's good, I see 120MB/sec but other times it will drop off by 50% or more or will disconnect. I've pretty much reverted to 2.4GHz except when I get the urge to test 5GHz out again.

I gotta tell ya, id absolutely love this thing if it wasnt for wifi issues. This thing drops connection all the time and lags so bad its awful. Done everything I read to do, freezing or deleting apks. Think it would be a home run if it wasnt for the wifi.
I've had mine a few weeks and I've never seen it drop wifi.

Never had a problem with the wifi, but the lag is horrible
Did you messes with your kernel?
I've got an 8.4 but I'm assuming the WiFi hardware is the same??? I've had mine for several months and never dropped a connection (except when my router went down) . I use it mainly on a 2.4 Ghz network at work. In my office I'm on the other side of an elevator shaft from the access point so reception isn't good on any device in my particular location - but it works and even there never dropped a connection. At home I've got it on 5 Ghz and where I typically use it the signal is very strong. On speedtest.net it matches the speed of my desktop PC which is wired into the router....so it's getting all my internet connection has to offer (service level is 30 Mbps but speedtest.net usually shows 32 - 35).
I'm assuming you have already checked the obvious things like signal strength? Does it drop the connection in some locations but not others? Does it make a difference what router or access point you are connecting to? Interference from other WiFi networks or (if using 2.4 Ghz) other devices like cordless phones?
Try installing WiFi Analyzer (free in the play store). It will give you a real time chart of your signals strength for all access points it can detect on both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz. For example in my Culdesac I can see at least 6 other access points with pretty strong signals (all my immediate neighbors). At my office, on the side of the building facing an appartment building on the opposite side of the street, I can see at least 25 2.4 Ghz access points. Amazing how many are named Xfinity WiFi or Linksys . On the other hand, on the 5 Ghz band in my home I only see one access point other than mine.
Try manually setting your router/Access point to a channel no one else is using. Switch to 5 Ghz if your router has it or buy a new router if it doesn't. This band is a lot less crowded, at least where I live. If your signal strength is low in the place you want to use the tablet, try moving closer to the router to see if that helps. If it does, consider moving the router or getting a second router or repeater.
I use to have problems in my home with 2 things.
A baby room monitor - REALLY tore up my wifi all over the house!
A set of wireless rear surround speakers was a problem for about a day. Lucky for me they have the ability to change the channel they use. Wipped out my freq counter, found out where they were and moved them to ch 11. Unit isn't marked as to what 3 channels you can select from. So the freq counter helped me find where they were and where I could put them. After I got them on ch11 I moved the router to ch4 as there was no one using it near by. Problem solved and have no wifi problems at all with the Sammy.... Matter of fact my router sits on a cabinet 6 feet off the floor. I get coverage over my whole .7 acre Ponderosa while listening to music riding the mower!
my wifi seems to drop once in a while too but i think its the crap router i use.. not sure
i also reset my tab and that helped.
Another thing I just thought of that you may want to check.....
Make sure no devices are fighting with each other trying to get the same address on your network. I just went through this last night. Once resolved, no problem.

A lot of this sort of problem can be fixed by going to 5 Ghz - which may mean a new router if you are using a router that isn't dual band. Most of those other devices in homes (and in your neighbor's homes too) are on 2.4 Ghz so there are a lot of things that compete for that spectrum that aren't even WiFi.
No WiFi issues here
No wifi issues here. I was on stock for about the 1st 30 days on the device and have rooted and installed various ROMs since. I would argue that this device has better wifi than other devices in my house, though my router is not AC so I have no comment on AC performance. I do have an issue with N 5 ghz networks not being seen right now, but that is something I induced.
Too many factors to consider but I can say if other's haven't had issues than it's likely something else.
Distance from access point
Access point's distance from other electronic equip.,
Wireless channel
G or N connection
latest firmware on wireless access point
cabling on AP
trying a different Access Point or wireless network altogether (coffee shop, etc)
wireless sucks to troubleshoot. Constantly changing settings until some magical combination works for all of your equipment.
like to connect my Nexus 5 to wireless N I have to set my 5Ghz channel to be on upper or lower frequency band or something- can't remember which it's supposed to be, though. My PSP needs the 2.4Ghz radio set on a b/g mixed setting. That's the only weird wireless settings I've ever needed to actually get specific devices to connect.
if you're looking for advice we'd need to know the model of your router/access point, though I'd probably go look at a forum where people talk about it.
Hi,
I am wondering, if anyone else having this problem...
My best available 2.4 ghz wifi channel is 13 (2472). If I select this channel my tab does not find the wifi anymore ("out of range"). All my other devices are running on channel 13. All other channels working.
Tried it with stock rom + stock kernel as well as with stock rom + latest UpInTheAir kernel, iron rom + UpInTheAir kernel, iron rom + stock kernel, factory reset, clean flash etc...
Can anyone confirm channel 13 is working on this tab?
SM-T805
Thx, brgds!
Hey guys, I recently picked up a Nexus 6 and when trying to set it up I noticed my Wifi download speeds were terribly slow even though im rocking a 200mbp/s download speed. I'd try and download speed test but my signal was too slow so it would time out. So I sideloaded speedtest and got a download of .02 mbps on 5ghz and .5 on the 2.4ghz band. Can anyone help?
What channel is your router on?
2.4Ghz is on channel 1 and 5ghz is on 44
My 2.4 is on auto and 5g is on 157. Works great for me.
Hello friends.
I am facing a strange problem. My internet speed is much slower than my friends although they use the same wifi.
Are you sure you're not using ADSL internet or something which speeds can fluctuate a lot due to phone line quality or external factors. Speed variations through WAN is nothing special since there's like a million factors in play.

Do you have a dual band router? Maybe the phone connects to 2.4 which per default limits bandwidth to 20MHz unless you've applied the wifi channel bonding which gives your better bandwidth on 2.4GHz.
Or perhaps your router has different SSIDs for 2.4 and 5GHz channel as most consumer product routers without functionality to load balance or for devices to 5GHz band at 80MHz bandwidth and higher speeds.
Now it is working fine.. I adjusted to automatic, previously it is set on 5GHZ. Okay I have query. If I do clear cache constantly say 3 times in a day then it will effect my phone??
So I bought note 9 two days ago and it was on Samsung experience 9.5, oreo 8.1. I have a dual band D link router which has both 5.0Ghz and 2.4Ghz wifi. But after pie update the phone is not picking the 5ghz band at all. I have reset the phone clear cache and also changed router settings.
I think its a software problem of one ui. Is any one facing this issue? Anying I can do to get back 5.0Ghz?
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Not sure what is causing your problem, don't think it's anything to do with Pie update.
I have been using Pie for months and use 5Ghz wi fi without issues.
Also haven't read of others having similar issues on this forum .
Have you tried wi fi analyser app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer
Tried with app and still nothing. I have reset the phone, cleared cache and still nothing. Mine is a exynos model and it's update handled by Malaysian samsung team.
After One ui pie I don't even see 4k 60 fps recording in rear camera option. It's an awful update. So many things are missing. They need to work on one ui.

Thank You . But I really want the 5.0Ghz band as my speed is super fast. I can download 2 GB in less than a min. 2.4Ghz sucks. I have just reset my router and still not picking 5.0 Ghz up.

Not sure what to tell you. 5.0Ghz works just fine on mine. And I've been on the beta since it was released and now on the official Pie. Never had an issues with it.
Try to change the channel and check.

I have had a similar problem before and since the Pie update. I use 5 ghz band in the same room as my router. 2 Apple devices and my LGV20 are connected to the same 5ghz band. I used wifi analyzer to choose the best channel which for me is channel 40. The other devices hold signal even after sleeping. My Note 9 (unlocked American version) sometimes just loses internet. There is an exclamation point next to the wifi icon. When I check wifi analyzer the signal strength is fine (lower absolute value than 60 or higher value than -60 dbm). The worst thing is once the exclamation point appears (meaning no internet despite retained connection to router) it will never reconnect to internet unless I turn phone wifi off and on. Resetting router has no effect. I reserved an ip for the Note 9 and put the phone on fixed ip so it won't get booted by another device. I'm at my witts end.

If you search the internet you will. Lots of us have wifi icon suddenly show an exclamation point next to it
This means good connection but NO INTERNET! This despite other devices on same 5 ghz network have no problem. Wifi analyzer shows good signal and no competing networks.
The temp fix is wifi off wifi on now it reconnects and everything is fine for 20 minutes or several hours but eventually the exclamation point is back. If it would reconnect or at least try to reconnect it would work but it just sits there waiting for me to do manually.
If we had Bixby routines like the GS10 I would write a routine to toggle wifi when there is no internet but the problem is the wifi IS connected to the router so there is probably no way to write that as a routine... and we don't get routines anyway.
I agree it isn't due to Pie in fact mine is slightly more stable since pie but still that damn exclamation point!

Every time I turn off my snapdragon U.S. version note 9, I have to stand very close to the router for like ten minutes before going upstairs to my room. I have to be standing close to it before it gets picked up by the 5gz wifi. If I do not stand next to it for 10 mins after turning my phone off then on, it will not pick up the 5ghz. I know that sounds simple, but it worked for me.
(I tried first: changing wifi channels, restarting the router, turning off the 2ghz and not the 5ghz, changed passwords for each, I mean everything.)
Hope that helps!

No, as I explained mine always connects and may remain connected for hours or for minutes. It never disconnects. It remains connected to router but stops receiving internet randomly at any time (connected wifi icon with ! next to it
I only use wifi in the same room as the router. It is my mancave and I spend all leisure time at home in that room. I shut off the wifi and the phone before bed. I have unlimited lte data but 5 ghz wifi is way faster. 2.4 ghz is perfectly stable but no faster than LTE+

Was trying to help the op who posted just last month.
hello good evening colleagues
I have an issue that had already happened to me on my samsung S9 and now it happens to me on my s20 FE 5g
the problem occurs in samsung Dex HDMI
when using any app or game
the internet is slow and does not load or loads very slowly and disconnects me.
It had happened to me before, but I don't remember how I solved it.
this happens when i connect my HUB + HDMI adapter and start samsung Dex . Network speed drops drastically.
Hello partners
after an insatiable fight.
after buying another HUB + usb + HDMI. and HDMI 2.0 cable
the problem persisted.
until I remember that the problem lies in the internet modem.
hahaha
The problem is exactly in the channel where the modem is configured, you have to find which channel is less saturated
in automatic mode it showed me very slow.
I hope this information is useful.
since in automatic channel the speed of the s20 FE can drop very drastically (of course it also depends on the modem if it is modern or old)
Can this thread be closed?
the problem comes from android 13 update
apologies...

yes, you are right
my problem is with wifi usually in 2.4 ghz networks.
in online games.
It lags, in an unenjoyable way.
Since android 13 this problem arose.
At the moment I only have a router 1 band 2.4

You can try getting closer to router , also on phone go to dev settings and limit background apps to none or 1 at bottom. That usually gives a little speed boost. You can prob find a 5g router at goodwill , and if it doesnt work out of box you can go look up dd wrt for it !

hello colleague
Thanks for your reply.
I already tried everything on my Router.
With Android 12 everything was running fine.
It is a 2.4ghz router.
Already modify any type of parameter. (scope, channels, etc)
but everything stays the same.
I clarify, the failure is in online games, there is a delay.
on facebook it may take a while to load between other apps.
in another house there is a dual band router.
In 5g there seems to be no delay, everything flows fine.
but i connect to 2.4 and it starts the delays.
something that did not happen to me in android 12.

Yes 5g is faster up close . The 2g is slower also bc everything ran off 2g . Think about 2g house phones everyone had. Theres more traffic on those . 5g has less traffic which helps increase your bandwidth.
Hi,
just wanted to mention, that i have the same issue
* on a Galaxy S22 with android 13 (regardless of Dex, but whenever screen is shared via a usb-c to hdmi adapter) and
* on a Huawei P20 Pro with android 12 (sometimes, not always)
replugging the usb-c adapter always immediately solves the issue but only for a brief time.
I hit this problem while traveling and using the hotel tv to watch movies that I stream via the phone over the hotel wifi (80mbits, but when the bug is on: <1 mbit) (changing the router is obviously not feasible in my case )
Could that be a general android / kernel bug?
Does anyone have a hypothesis for a technical explanation?
The bug is not occuring on 4G cellular network. Didn't test for 5ghz Wifi
