hello xda people,i thought i might share this with you since i've tested and done it myself about rooting kitkat eu update. My bootloader was factory locked and proceeded unlocking it and i barely managed to install Hazou's unoficial twrp recovery(see this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2278483) wich was done via fastboot, but mostly even after the custom recovery install i didn't managed to get root on kitkat,so i've tried ChainsDD superSU update pack witch seems to resolve the problem because the update package installs the propper package according to system specs,so if anyone there wishing to root or doesn't quite figure out, here's an simple how to:
1Make sure you have all the drivers installed.
2install or download android sdk
3 from the sdk, copy on your desktop platform-tools (for easier job)
4 download recovery image from Hazou thread, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2278483 extract and place it on platform-tools folder you copied on your desktop
5in platform-tools folder open cmd line and enter your phone in fastboot
6type "fastboot devices" without quotes
7 if your device is listed, type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
8now after cmd confirms if the flash was succesfull, either head to recovery from fastboot mode and see if twrp is installed,if it does keep your phone connected to pc
9 download chainsDD superSU update to external sd,link to download https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8m4rdNFVU4_YjV4X2gtUjNhZVE/view?usp=sharing
10 install via twrp, wipe davik+cache, reboot and enjoy
You can get the latest CWM / TWRP / MobileODIN installable ZIP from here. It has x86 support and works on the Razr i.

I like this method, you're always left with a fallback or the option to the Rom flash again or use an alternate when using recovery, I've started to prefer TWRP over clockwork recently

If your phone is on lollipop, make sure to use the latest version of TWRP as older version includes outdated binary that doesn't work on lollipop. You can also flash the latest supers.zip manually from recovery.
I have gone in to team win recovery an installed it from there an this is what I keep getting Su if you have a custom recovery like twrp or cwm, that can be used to (try to) install the su binary . How would you like to install the su binary ?. I hit twrp
SuperSu will attempt to reboot your device into twrp or cwm ,
So I go back to the recovery team win . . I go to install an go down to superSU-v1.25zip swipe to confirm flash . Successful an know I hit reboot system. Android is updating app an know there is no SU binary installed an superSU cannot install it . This is a problem

Yes 1.25 its not the latest its pretty old.
uninstall your SU app from the phone and
1- boot in twrp
2- select reboot in system
3- you'll be prompted to install root
4- select "yes"
(you need a recent twrp version as explained in post 2)
or
1- download latest supersu.zip
2- boot in twro
3- select "install"
4- select your supersu.zip and flash it.
latest version is 2.46 and its the only one that will work with lollipop

Hi all, im here because i have some problem about install CyanogenMod of this tread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe.../rom-cyanogenmod-12-neo-s-homebuilds-t2984988
i hade a Xperia T, with 4.3 stock, with root, followed thsi http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798411=2333577
then i unlocked my botloader, following a italian guide by "Unlock SE xperia bootloaders", ask to Sony the hey for unclock, and all work fine.
Downloaded cm-12-20151108-NIGHTLY-mint with Gapps open_gapps-arm-5.1-pico-20160226, and pun in my microsd.
i have:
(1) Boot into TWRP recovery
(2) Do a factory reset and wipe system partition
(3) Flash latest ROM zip, but no Gapps (I'd do it later, first I wanted to see if it was loaded right to the Rom)
Reboot, configured cell phone, everything ok.
Then i try to follow step about resize partition, so i reboot phone, press "vol down", and my xperia boot into a "Cyanogen recovery", and not in the PhilZ Touch Recovery.
So I made some tests, and i have install TWRP by APK file, install ok, so i can go inside TWRP at the boot.
krasimiretov tell me to do that:
1. Install build from 08-01-2016(final)
2. You need to fastboot boot.img . There is no cyanogen recovery its TWRP. You must have done something wrong.
3. No towelroot is needed. After installing the build and flashing supersu from recovery phone is rooted.
4. You can do that with TWRP recovery no Philz needed.
so i have downloaded 08-01-2016(final), try to zip with TWRP but not able https://www.dropbox.com/s/n6do3ucbx8oju5a/2016-02-27 12.08.52.jpg?dl=0
i try to fastboot boot.img, by flashtool, istall it following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963961 but at the reboot xperia still "tunr off" afeter logo SONY, i should reboot (vol up+on for 10 sec, go to TWRP and reflash cm-12-20151108-NIGHTLY-mint for work again.
I am tempted to start all over from the beginning...but i shoud unlock again bootloaders, use unlocked bootloader, than i can, maybe, reflas ftf, right?
sorry if it's a little confused, but I do not know how to install the latest ROM, to be able to resize the partition
ok ..ok... i try again and now have work fine...
i just arrived to the Reboot, afetr install rom, gapps and update superSU, but screen is "stuck" at the recovery...is freeze there...i can reboot manually?
done!
redone the procedure,
I was wrong to flash the boot.img
So its working fine now ?
yep! work!!
but i have a little problem for resize...
13. Reboot
14. Enter the following terminal commands to fix storage permissions:

chmod 777 /mnt/media_rw/sdcard0

Did you flash that in TWRP ?
yea... anyway im trying again... (It has a bad sensitivity TWRP )
nothing... "SU" dont work, but T work without "problem" ... i just have some lag and some closing's applications...
and this error after rebooting:

i would like try the latest UNOFFICIAL by Neo ... where i can download it? its cm-12-20150405-UNOFFICIAL-mint ??

nevermind... I was able to do everything alone ...
I do always panic
buti have always the messa

Now Xperia T is more fat without lag ...
Anyway i can install other 12.1 ... except the last one that is not working well ... what would you suggest me about, version 12.1?
Ok, i have try again with this version:

open_gapps-arm-5.1-pico-20160301
BETA-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503
Follow always the istruction:
Flash the boot.img from ROM zip via Flashtool (use Fastboot mode)
Boot into TWRP recovery
Do a factory reset and wipe system partition
Flash latest ROM zip (check "Downloads" section)
Flash suitable GApps for CM12.1 or CM12
Flash latest SuperSU from here: Link

I flashed the latest Open Beta 25 yesterday and it took me some time to figure out how to properly root that. I was searching for a compatible TWRP for Android Oreo and I stumbled upon one when I was reading through pages and pages of comments from our community.
So, I am writing the steps here with the necessary files so that everyone can find it in one place.
This is not my work. All credits go to the original developers. I am just consolidating the steps I followed here. If I am violating any rules, please feel free to close this thread.

SuperSU Zip: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B46mMEeAPSYGV1U3c3JSRmF2dWs
Steps to install TWRP and Root:
Note: My phone was encrypted when I tried this.
1. Copy the downloaded SuperSU Zip file to your phone.
2. Copy the TWRP file to the folder where ADB and Fastboot are installed.
3. Turn off your OnePlus 3/3T. Boot your OnePlus 3/3T into Fasboot mode > Press and hold the Volume Up Button + Power Button.
4. Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable.
5. Open a command window on the folder where ADB and Fastboot are installed. Go to the folder where ADB and Fastboot are installed. Hold down Shift Key > Right Click on the empty space > Choose ‘Open CMD Here’.
6. Execute the below command in the command window to see if your device is properly connected:
Code:
fastboot devices
7. Make sure the TWRP file is in the ADB folder. Execute the below command to install TWRP on your OnePlus 3/3T running Android Oreo:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP-Oreo-OnePlus-3-3T.img
Do not restart your device upon installation. The procedure is not yet over.
8. Assuming you are now in Fastboot Mode, use the volume buttons and choose ‘Recovery Mode’ and then press the power button to enter TWRP Recovery.
9. Once you are in TWRP > Tap on ‘Install’ > Choose the SuperSU Zip file which you have downloaded from above > Swipe right to flash.
10. Reboot your device.

hello, i followed all the steps but for some reason, my phone is stuck in boot loop. everything is normal untill i see my lockscreen, but as soon as i try to unlock or even press powerbutton , the phone restarts again everytime.
Will the same steps work for magisk?
Hello dear fellows,
since 2 days i try to fix a problem with my unlocked and rooted Sony Xperia Z C6603. Still not finding any solution via internet, i take my last chance and post it here.
I unlocked and rooted my C6603 2 days ago and installed via fastboot the actual Lineage Custom ROM lineage-14.1-20171027-nightly-yuga-signed.zip.
Everything worked fine.
Bootloader -> fastboot flash boot boot.img (from lineage-14.1-20171027-nightly-yuga-signed.zip) :good:
Restart into Android Recovery :good:
Install via ADB sideload lineage-14.1-20171027-nightly-yuga-signed.zip :good:
Install via ADB sideload LineageOS 14.1 ARM32 SU (for full root access) :good:
Boot into Lineage, activate dev options and enabled Android-Debugging + Root-Access -> Apps and ADB :good:
Now my problem:
The so called "Android Recovery" is rly bad, so i try to override this recovery with TWRP 3.0.2.0 (yuga) but everytime i get the following error:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
target didn't report max-download-size
sending 'recovery' (10656 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.351s]
writing 'recovery'...
[B]FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)[/B]
finished. total time: 0.370s
Where is my fffffff problem^^ Yes my phone is unlocked and yes, it is rooted (checked it also via root app).
I cant install gapps (dont work with ADB sideload) and and i want a proper recovery for backups and stuff...
So, what is wrong with me? Maybe someone of you have a good idea and can help me, i would rly appreciate it!
Sry for my not so proper english, hope u understand my problem anyway
Phone information:
Sony Xperia Z C6603
Android 7.1.2
LineageOS 14.1-20171020-NIGHTLY-yuga
LineageOS API-Level Guava (7)
Kernel-Version 3.4.113-yuga-gd710842
Build-Number lineage-yuga-userbug 7.2.1 NJH47F f281cb28f4
Thanx for all the help^^
I figured it out what to do:
1. fastboot flash boot twrp(actualversion).zip NOT fastboot flash recovery twrp(actualversion).zip
2. reboot into TWRP recovery mode
3. check if u can mount your data folder
3.1 if not, go to wipe -> advanced wipe -> change file system to ext4
4. install via ADB the actual LineageOS (or put the actual LineageOS file on your Sony/SD)
4. install LineageOS 14.1 SU via ADB (or put the actual LineageOS 14.1 SU file on your Sony/SD) -> https://www.lineageosroms.org/forums/topic/how-to-root-lineage-os-13-14-1-marshmallow-nougat-rom/
6. install Open gapps -> http://opengapps.org/
7. reboot and configure LineageOS
7.1 check your developer options -> Debugging + root access for ADB and apps
8. download TWRP apk via PlayStore
8.1 give TWRP apk root access and download the actual TWRP file for yuga
9. flash this TWRP recovery via app
10. DONE

Same problem here, filesystem is ext4, TWRP app says it flashed but after a reboot its not there.
Always have to go via "fastboot flash boot twrp.img" and on the next reboot after flashing lineage its gone again.
After some research I found it it belongs into the fota partition, but I dont seem to have one.

Did you manage to solve the issue? I have the exact problem. The TWRP says it flashed but recovery is still stock android.
I have C6602. Someone on reddit gave me the solution; (do note that I had to run
Code:
adb root
for
Code:
su
to work.
You have a Xperia device which deals with recovery kind of weird. Recovery is stored with the kernel, not in a standalone recovery partition. Because of this you need to flash it to a FOTAKernel partition and use a kernel that supports FOTAKernel (the LineageOS one does).
To flash TWRP, first move the recovery image to your device with the adb command
Code:
adb push twrp-3.0.2-0-yuga.img /sdcard
. Then run
Code:
adb shell
to get access to the shell. Then run
Code:
su
and accept any prompts to gain root access. Then to actually flash, run
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/twrp-3.0.2-0-yuga.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel
