WI-FI looks like always on even OFF - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I have Huawei P9 and Honor 8 but same smartphones has one problem. When I'm checking battery usage details - I can see that Wi-Fi is always on (the most interesting thing is that Wi-Fi never was turned on). I tried to turn off "Always allow scanning" but it doesn't help.
Any solutions on this case?

Go to location settings, 3 Dots, scanning settings, turn off wifi scanning.

Android will always keep Wi-Fi on as its default behaviour.
When you turn Wi-Fi off, it's not really turned off, it just won't connect to any Wi-Fi hotspot.
If you want Wi-Fi signal to really turn off.
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced Settings, and choose "never" for "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep".
Oh....but if for example i turn it off in those setting, everytime that i dont touch my p9 for about 5 or 10 min and screen turn off, does the wi-fi will turn off too? Cause I want to turn off and on wherever i want, and not when the smarphone wants

0-5mps download
0-1 Mps upload
It was up and down all the time, not steady number, sometimes stucks to zero for a couple of seconds
With other phone I have
30 download
5,5 upload
Something happen with the phone
I justice notice that on 5ghz wifi works perfects (50 Mps) with 2,4ghz I have problem
2 days later it fixed itself.
Don't know the reason, anyway all ok
To be honest I sometimes find the WiFi a bit unresponsive, also in cosmote network myself.
Lately I also see the 4g+ sign to be present along with the WiFi, a bit weird as well..

Any news?
Since a few days I have the same problems.
Did you find any solution?
Thanks.
I also have an issue with the WIFI being slow on this phone. Any solutions?
Are you missing all other unconnected networks in your wifi list?
Try to toggle WiFi search option for location service.
This helped me to get my wifi work again.

Wifi keeps disconnecting

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me out. I have the 512GB version and been having a hell of a time with my wifi randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. Sometimes it wont even reconnect due to "authentication error". Anyone have a fix or been experiencing the same issue?

I haven't used any other wifi but all my phones are fine on my home router except for this one.
What router is it? Check/experiment with the settings on it.

Have a look at wireless mode and see if changing that makes a difference.

Yes you can, you need to unlock your bootloader, put your phone in EDL (fastboot oem edl) and flash the firmware with MiFlash

You can lock the bootloader in MiFlash, the option "flash all and lock" or something like that.
I had also updated my phone to pie using vpn and now there is some problem in my wifi range. Wifi doesnt work as good as it used to in oreo.
I also have serious wifi issues since I updated to Pie. Specially with 2,4Ghz band when i go to a zone away from the AP. Although the signal is still pretty strong, the wifi radio keeps connecting and disconnecting. It's very frustrating because it didn't happen with my previous phones and it doesn't happen with other phones from family members or friends, even if the devices are low end.

Settings > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi preferences > Turn off Wi-Fi automatically
No, the culprit is not the wifi power saving feature. This problem is totally different and it only happens with the 2.4Ghz radio. Anyway the setting you say seems to be removed in Pie.
Edit: Problem solved.
It's this setting --> Enable Wifi automatically. I don't know what it does precisely because the name and description is misleading. I disabled it and wifi now works like charm.
Thanks for the clue!
Edit 2: Wifi power saving still works as it should, disables wifi when there's no net activity with device locked. So far, so good [emoji11]

That's WiFi AI, Android Pie is entirely based on AI predictions, it works great for brightness and apps once it's trained, but it's a pain when it comes to connectivity, it needs further enhancements.

EMUI 9 WiFi randomly switches off

As stated in title my WiFi randomly switches off even while in use. I'm on .163, L29 and have nothing modded or rooted.
Anyone have similar problems?
If it does matter: it's a European device.
Have you checked if you have enabled the Wi-Fi + option? it seems exactly the behaviour of that option
It's enabled but it not only switches, it turns it off so that it doesn't connect automatically again.
Didn't has the behaviour on EMUI 8

Well, that's not entirely true. It also stores the location of known WiFi networks and enables the WiFi again when you come to that location. So there might be something wrong when it stores the location or your phone location get updated by network and not GPS.
See what happens if you disable the WiFi+

Maybe I should factory reset my phone, didn't do it for the firmware update so far..
Right now it works, it's not very repeatable

So, did you turn off WiFi+ or not?
