Error when installing Android onto HP Touchpad! - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have been following the [ROM GUIDE]How to install Android 5.x.x/4.4.x with Jcsullins TPtoolbox Super Easy Way Guide. It worked great until:
Download Recommended default setup
Rom:cm-11-20151116-SNAPSHOT-jcsullins-tenderloin.zip
Recovery:TWRP-jcs-dm-tenderloin-20140612b.zip
Gapps:gapps-444-base-20160602-1-signed.zip
I keep getting the same error of unrecognized/unsupported zip for all 3. I am using Touchpad Toolbox (v42 2015-01-08)
please any help would be amazing.

Hmmmm, those ZIP look like they should work with the regular method, but here is my comment.....
I was actually going to install this same KitKat ROM on one of my three tablets, right now I have 2 tablets with Nougat and one tablet with 4.4.4 MLQ, but Nevertells2 gave me a good idea on another forum to install 4.4.4 JC Sullins like yours above, because Nougat is sluggish and has a microphone bug that Nevertells2 would say is a "deal breaker" with Hangouts.
So anyway to make a long story short, try the alternate method below and use your ZIP from above ( not Nougat zips ). I am going to do it this weekend and we can compare notes on how it worked. I am going to use the exact same ZIPS as you.

[Q] NDo I Need to Change gapps with ADS_magpie-20110510-signed.zip?

Several questions:
1. If I use gapps with AndDiSa's latest ADS_Magpie (ADS_magpie-20110510-signed.zip), does it require the newer version of gapps (GAPPS: 20110508b) linked on ezterry's page?
2. If the answer to 1 is yes, any special advice (definite DO's or DON'Ts)?
Some background:
Have used AndDiSa's ADS_Magpie on rooted G1 for a few weeks and have been very pleased with it.
Checked his page today at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9870397/android/ADS_magpie/index.html today and saw he has a new version numbered 20110510.
Since it is based in part on ezterry's Gingerbread work (Source Code Repo for ezGingerbread development (Dream and Sapphire)), I've also been following that thread.
With ezterry's GINGERBREAD-DS-Alpha-20110509-1.zip, he includes a statement that reads "Starting this version you must use GAPPS: 20110508b due to the new Platform key in use." That is the reason for my question.
Thanks for your help.
If you do a no wipe install it should work without installing the new gapps due to the backup script included. I didn't have the chance to test it deeply, so I cannot guarantee.
If you do a clean install, the new gapps should work fine.
Sent from my Gingerbread on Dream using XDA App
Edit: Most likely it's more secure to erase system, then flash the rom and then flash the new gapps
Thanks, AndDiSa. I made a full backup (gapps, nand+ext) from recovery and flashed the latest - no problems.
Really enjoy GB with magpie on my G1, getting another 6 months with it will be much more satisfactory.
Thanks for sharing this with the community!
anyone can pelase share the ROM link with me for ADS_Magpie..
evertime i searched i got this LINK

MetaSploit on Galaxy Tab

Since we have the ability to install the full ARM-based distribution of Ubuntu Linux (in a "chroot", similar concept to a Virtual Machine), I think we may have the ability to install MetaSploit on the Galaxy Tab.
Can anyone provide any pointers on how to get started with this kind of effort? The instructions to install full Ubuntu Linux in a chroot are at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836022&page=4
From within this Ubuntu Linux environment we can "apt-get install" just about anything from the ARM-architecture based Ubuntu Linux repositories using the Terminal Emulator. This means we could probably "apt-get install" most of the MetaSploit components, if they are available in ARM-architecture form.
Any thoughts on this are much welcomed. Thank you.
This should be no problem, it has been done on other devices, for pieces that are not already in package form you'll have to find and compile source....a good hint for the packages you'll want to look for a guide on how to install it on a Nokia N900
What has this got to do with Android development??
This should be in Genera section.
hey dude, i've been looking to port this for awhile without success, i can't understand how the guys at rapid7 did the port for IOS and not for Android... I've read that the key is to get ruby working on Android so far there is jruby i believe that isn't fully functional yet...
I heart your name atheist

I found a link to an article which seems to explain how to do this...
http://r00tsec.blogspot.com/2011/05/metasploit-on-android-htc-desire-hd.html
We should try this on the Tab.
Update:
I got MetaSploit working on the Tab! I needed to follow the instructions mostly from http://r00tsec.blogspot.com/2011/05/metasploit-on-android-htc-desire-hd.html
I did have to install ruby ("apt-get install ruby" at the command line) and Ruby Gems (search for the exact apt-get name) inside the chroot'd Ubuntu environment though.
I was able to enlarge the 2 GB Ubuntu image to almost 4 GB using the instructions posted on the blog shown above which provided plenty of space to install MetaSploit and other InfoSec tools.
The next goal is to get BackTrack 5 (ARM) running.
http://www.androidng.com/install-backtrack-5-linux-on-android-phone
Any input is welcome.

LS 3.2 ovation settings
Hi there,
I just wondered if there is a way of making the settings to be two-columned (tablet like) instead of one-columned (phone like).
Thanks!
seems superb!
Thanks for this ROM, Jon! even though i've had my Nook HD+ since the past 8 months now, and had been contemplating putting in a custom ROM since long, its only NOW that i finally took a plunge. installed CM 10.1.3 & CM 10.2.1 since y'day; kept each for barely a few hours (wanted to just test), and then installed this ROM today, and am getting a feeling that am now hooked! right from the loading animation-screen, to the UI, it seems so good & smooth (smoother than CM, i felt)! another ROM that i have in mind (And have kept downloaded) is the pac-man ROM, but LS seems so good that i don't think i would install pac-man anytime soon, and may be later, only if i want a change.
i will proceed to installing apps and all, and test this for a few days. kudos!
P.S. - i have less than 10 posts here on XDA forums, hence my post got redirected to this thread.
I have installed the new f2fs rom and it is very fast and smooth! This is the best my nook has ever worked!

I am now having problems. It seems like certain apps are causing it to crash and reboot.

I am having the same problem as angelofmenoth, even with Jon's fix. I sure would like to have this work well. It is so smooth when it is working!

LOL, You or angelofmenoth will have to get me a proper logcat.
(as I don't have this issue).
which means you need adb.
adb logcat &> logcat.txt
during first few seconds of a bootloop then ctr-c
post log on pastebin.com and link here
Also, be sure ,if using art runtime, to switch back to dalvik.
Besides that, there's not much else I can recommend.
I believe incompatible versions of gapps may be responsible for some peoples problems, Try it without gapps first. If you have no issues without gapps, try a more compatible version.
It does work fine without gaaps. I am using PA gaaps, but I will try something else and see if it works. Thanks!
Enabling Wifi causes reboot on F2FS Liquid Smooth
I just tried the F2FS version of Liquid Smooth (after following the directions to reformat/change the format of the 3 partitions) and it booted ok, but every time I enable WiFi it causes it to reboot... Any ideas why? I'm doing this on an HD+ 32g

The fix-mac.sh will occasionally exhibit a race condition on F2FS filesystem (on some installs).
the fix:
Code:
cd /system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity
mount -o rw,remount /system
rm wl1271-nvs.bin
[email protected]:/system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity # fix-mac.sh
Writing mac address 58:67:1A:B1:XX:XX to file /system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity/wl1271-nvs.bin
reboot
You should only have to do this once.
Loaded this rom and works great I used this gapps package and worked just fine

[QPAIR/LOA] - LinuxonAndroid GPad support

This will be used to detail how to get LinuxonAndroid running on the GPad and the process of QPair support to bring new and interesting features to the project as a whole.
Step 1 - Install Linux on the tablet
We shall start by using the standard Complete Linux Installer to install and run Linux with the GUI pumped over VNC (Frame buffer method coming soon!), this method works on most devices and is the most universal but as the project develops in the coming weeks a better method for the GPad will be developed.
Anyway on with installing!
Root
First things first you will need to root your tablet, currently my tablet is running Stock V50020d with root.
The below will most likely work on other ROMs as long as you have root it should work!
(A custom ROM may be developed for further features.. watch this space)
Download
Now we have root you will need to download the below:
Complete Linux Installer
Terminal Emulator
VNC View (I recommend PocketCloud)
Finally download A Linux .img file from our source forge site HERE, I recommend and will be using Ubuntu 13.10 Small ext4. Once downloaded extract the .zip file and copy the .img to your devices memory (internal memory or sdcard).

Let me understand, you want to port QPair to linux that will run on the G pad?
Disclaimer: I'm also in the challange but the idea of running linux on the tablet is really interesting.

I guess @zacthespack wants to use linuxonandroid on tab and sync stuff with a third party such as keyboard, etc using QPair.
Another Disclaimer here Good luck to everyone!

Bingo!
With linuxonandroid running on the tablet we could then use QPair to allow the user to have a phone (or another tablet..?) as the mouse/keyboard for Linux
posted first steps in OP to start getting LoA running on the tablet.
Everything is running very well, I shall finish the guide shortly to get LoA running but really the app install guide will work perfectly.
Next step I will be releasing a special Ubuntu 14.10 image which will be the supported image for QPair features and other changes for the GPad.

Stock LG kernel does have loop support so you should have no issue here, if you are having another issue getting linux to start let me know, shall be updated the OP in the next few days

Howdy, cool project. Couple of questions. I'm looking for a reason to install Linux on my tablet, but also understand that I can remotely view my home system with vnc. So what would be the benefit?
Is there more control using Linux to Linux?
Does this mean I could open into my home system, make changes to my kernel, compile, and upload to a server from my tablet?? Late night insomnia while in the mountains would be awesome. I would have to tether my tablet to my phone for WiFi, and run through Linux? This sounds pretty awesome.
Tell me the reasons it won't work.
Pretty awesome OP. Thanks!
Cant log in ubuntu

. Using your PC, download the ROM and the Updater-script from OP and Winrar from Rarlab.com
3. Unrar the updater-script
3. Using Winrar browse the rom.zip to S.ROM-M7-REAL-M9-SENSE7-7.1.5.8-XS.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\Updater-script (DO NOT EXTRACT THE ROM, JUST BROWSE THROUGH IT)
4. Using your mouse grab the extracted updater-script that you download from the OP and insert it in the browsed folder above in your rom and it will automatically overwrite the existing one.
5. Now move or copy the rom with the modified updater-script to your phone and flash.
