How do I root an HTC One GE on a Mac? I'd like to do so before I set up the phone tomorrow. Done some googling and couldn't find an answer. Did my N4. Is it the same files/procedure?
Sorry for the duplicate post, but I realized I had entered the title in correctly.

I'm a noobie. Need more direction than that.
you just said you did your N4.
procedure is exactly the same
or after you do fastboot oem unlock from the bootloader screen you can follow my tutorial for recovery and root.

I was under the impression there were specific drivers for the devices. So if I follow the tutorial on the website I post below it will work?

Just make sure you get the HTC One recovery and not the N4.. based on your lack of knowledge, based on your multiple questions, I would hold off a bit though.. as far as I know there isn't a confirmation as to if the recovery from the normal One is compatible with the GE One. I could be wrong though

Thanks. I guess I'll hold off. I figured there had to be some custom files and that they arent all plug and play. Thanks for your help. I'll prob wait a couple weeks. I just wanted to do it immediately to avoid having to wipe again.

You don't need to wipe for a recovery. When you get the device and its good to go, go into fastboot and type
"fastboot oem unlock"
Then after you unlock it reboot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset.. then hold off for recovery. Once your unlocked you no longer are required to wipe for anything

Aaah. Didn't think of that. Which files do I need for that?
On a mac? Just fastboot
Rooted using a combination of instructions. Pleased to say it worked. Only problem I have had so far is that on one occasion it told me I was not rooted, when in fact I was. A reboot fixed that problem.

Looks like I have root, but it seems like after some time of the phone being on, it loses root access and I have to reboot in order to regain root access. Any ideas?
So, like an absolute idiot I wiped /system without a proper ROM zip on my device and I'm stuck with no OS on my device. I asked for Drive access to the KK factory image from Motorola, am I heading in the correct path for success? Does someone already have the KK image that they could provide for me? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
Yeah your on the right path I did the same thing once
Once you get the factory image, you'll use fastboot to flash the files with the instructions Moto provides. You'll be fine.
Do u still have a custom recovery installed? You can put the to custom ROM zip on the flash drive or SD card and plug in an otg cable to the phone and you should be able to flash the ROM from there. Or you can do adb sideload from the recovery

Did something very similar to this. Used SolarTrans' guide as Motorola never sent me the factory image. Installed the OTA from the phone itself and then flashed the 5.1 OTA and I'm good to go. You guys are the kind who keep these forums great!
I have the same issue but my bootloader is locked and when I try to unlock it i get error "'Enable OEM Unlock' in developer options"

This is exactly what I did to fix the exact same issue. Essentially soft bricked my phone 17 hours after receiving it from Motorola [emoji27] but this got me back on my feet and I've been running lollipop on a rooted XT1095 with no issues for 6 months [emoji106]
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anybody could help me with my bricked Nexus. I tried everything in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/fix-fix-qhusbbulk-cm12-t3059518 I could not get the blank-flash.bat to work. Here's the error I get when running it: Target ERROR: 7 - Open multi failed, unknown error
FAILED (sdl-transfer-image:send-image:sdl-open-multi:target error)
I attached a picture below of the cmd window.
If anybody could help me get past this error and help my Nexus come back to life, it would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Don't think you can use the flash.bat ... Have to extract the .img files and flash them individually

Do you think you can elaborate on that?
Do you mean extract the img files from the singleimage.bin file and flash those seperately, or do you mean something else entirely?

The thing is I'm not able to get into fastboot. I'm trying to flash fastboot back so I can then flash a file allocation table and bootloader.
Oh, my apologies! Completely misunderstood the OP

fastboot is a program that you run on a computer, and you have to be in your bootloader to use it. you have to install it onto your computer, and you have to have the android driver installed as well, or fastboot wont see yoir phone. you cant "flash fastboot back".

I'm just trying to follow the guide listed in the OP to get my phone unbricked. The blank-flash.bat does not complete successfully therefor I am still stuck with no bootloader, fastboot, etc.

no bootloader? then how did you flash the blank-flash.bat? if you have no bootloader, then you have a fancy, expensive, door stop.

I'm sure you read the thread listed in OP, or you wouldn't have posted in it. I bricked my phone. That guide explained my issue perfectly. One of the steps isn't working for me, and I'm looking for help. That's all.

yea, ive read it, and im wishing the best of luck to you. bit you cant really do any of it without a bootliader.
so, when you press the power button, does it just stay on the google screen, or does it go into another screem?

There is no screen whatsoever. Just blank. Phone shows up on PC as QHUSB__BULK, but after installing Qualcomm usb drivers it shows up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3). I'm stuck there as the unbrick tool does not work for me.

That's for soft-bricked/bootlooping devices. I have a hard-bricked Nexus.
Last week my Nokia 8 device was unexpected factory reset during the night. I have some important files without sync. How I can recover these files?
There are tools you can try to recover the data with. It's not guaranteed though that it will work if the internal storage was wiped too. Here's one tool (have no experience of it) and you can easily Google for more.

So apperently because of a restore of an incomplete backup using twrp my phone got bricked. I unbricked it using huawei mt but my /data partition is not mounting because of which the phone won't boot(this is based on my observations and I could be wrong but I am unable to mount /data). I know there is a way to format/repair the /data using adb but idk how to. A lil help would be appreciated.
