Three in Touch app doesn't automatically switch on - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Since getting this phone, the app doesn't automatically switch over to it when I have no signal. Instead I have to open the app to make a call. It looks like the phone tries to activate it but shuts it down before starting to dial out. Any ideas why the phone seems to kill the app?

Problem with Phone App

Well I've had my Tilt for a week now and I have been frustrated completely with the Phone App.
First of all, when I am calling a tone prompted location where you have to press the keys to get somewhere (611, corporate voicemail, etc), some of the time the phone will go into "hold" when i press the keys.
Secondly, after a call that i have pressed the keys for tone operation, the phone app will not completely close. the screen will stay half dim and the start bar and task panes are locked out. i can't access any of the icons at the top of the screen. the only button available is the task manager which shows no programs running.
i can pretty much replicate the 2nd problem consistently. does anyone else have this problem? Please try to call into a company say even 611, go through all the tone prompts and see if the phone app closes appropriately afterwards. make sure you are on the phone long enough for the screen to automatically dim.
the only way for me to get past this is to softboot so i can get access to the start menu again. but i'd rather not have to softboot after every phone call =T
Thanks!
Same problem here, any help would be great.

disable the lock thing where you have to enter a pin - i think its a bug in the rom
Same problem - but if press the on/off button for the screen twice I do have again access to all icons. Not nice but ....
yeah i was messing around with the phone last night and realized that it has to do with phone lock and figured out if you press the power button to put it to sleep and press it again to wake it up, everything is normal again. it was just a fluke how i found out but i'm glad to know that this isn't only my problem. i was about to do another hard reset on the phone.
i called ATT techsupport and they told me it might be the simcard. can other Tilt owners chime in here. is this a ROM problem or could it be related to a faulty sim?

Disabling start menu while on phone

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but is there a way to disable the Start Menu, and for that matter EVERYTHING but the dialpad while on the phone? I used KaiserTweak to keep my phone awake, but now everytime i go to use the dialpad while im on the phone, my ear has managed to open the start menu or some program and its very annoying .
TIA
I just knock the power button to disable the screen - then flick it on again if I need to tap keys.
I tried this but it doesnt really work. The phone seems to turn itself back on at some point during the call, and then when i go to hang up or use the keypad, i have google maps or some other app opened up. Major pain in the butt. If someone has a way to make the dialer app "always on top" or disable the start menu and/or taskbar when the dialer is open, that would be awesome for me.
by default, the screen is suppose to shut off after a few seconds while you are on a call. Have you made a reg hack to change this? or are you suing a cooked ROM? Most cooks will turn off this feature. Also, it's the first option in Kasier Tweak.
i've tried with it on and off. The problem seems to be that if you hit the wheel on the side (to adjust the volume) the screen turns back on...so if you want to adjust the volume, you have to pull the phone away from your face first, and then hit the power button again when you're done.

keep phone app from turning off?

A lot of times when I talk on the phone, I want to turn around and immediately make another call, especially after listening to voice mail. But when I hang up the phone, it immediately shuts down the phone app and goes to the home screen. Is there any way to keep the phone app open after I hang up?
Nope

Sorry mate, but there is nothing that works like that out there, i guess this is simply because your phone is fast enough where if you hit the phone icon it'll open up the dialer app almost instantaneously. It's just not a process that stays in your RAM because it's so quick to load, it would be a waste of RAM, sorry man!
Most phone apps have a setting like "Exit to home" which you can set to stay within the dialer. Which apparently are you using?
I'm pretty sure when I originally dialed the call, it takes me back to the dialer

On the stock rom? Try flashing a rom with a samsung build like cognition or fasty, that might work

Open the phone app, press the menu button, go into settings and disable exit to home screen
There is no settings icon under the menu button. The only options are: speed dial settings, send message, add 3 sec pause, and add wait. Nothing about exiting to home screen. I am using the stock dialer on stock 2.3 rom.
Flash to latest aokp ics build and the dialer has this feature

Two Official KK Oddities

I'm seeing two oddities that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm stuck on the Official KK after a hardware swap at the local warranty repair center.
1> My phone goes into hands free mode everytime I get into the car and it detects my car stereo/bluetooth ODB II adapter. This is starting S Voice for some reason. I originally had a Tasker task that put my phone into hands free mode, but I've verified that it's disabled. Is there a hidden setting deep inside settings that associates hands free mode with a bluetooth device? I swear I looked all over the settings.
2> Pressing backspace seems to cause the cursor to jump backwards 5-10 characters and delete that character. You fix that mistake and press backspace again and it does the same thing, all the way back to the beginning. I thought it was a keyboard bug, but I switched to the Google Keyboard and the same thing is happening. Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks!
Doug
not sure about the first one but for the second check your key press delay in the keyboard advanced settings and make sure it is not too low, pressing and holding the back space key will remove words at a time.
My phone went into hands free mode automatically when I had a location set for my car. Settings\connections\location\my places. I believe the phone identified the car via blue tooth and switched to hands free mode automatically. I removed my car from my places and no more hands free mode coming on automatically.

Thanks! That was it!
It would be nice if I could just stop S Voice from launching on starting Hands Free mode. When I was on a rooted KitKat, I had S Voice frozen and that's why it didn't start then.

Glad you got it sorted out. You can disable S Voice via settings/general/application manager/swipe to all applications/S Voice/and select turn off.

[Q] Randomly getting "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"

Every once in a while, I'll get this message when opening the phone dialer. The app will close and I have to open it again. Any idea what's going on? I've read I have to clear some cache or something. I started having this issue once I installed 5.0.2. I did not have this issue with 4.4.4.
Secondly, going off-topic, if I press on an app icon and get the "clicking" sound from the speakers confirming the touch registration (the icon also shows the pressed state when my finger is on it), the app does not launch. I have to press on it again and it will launch. Any ideas here too?
