Prue Nexus : Exchange Sync - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running Pure Nexus 7.1.2_r17 with Beans Gapps Mini 0610. I was able to configure the Exchange account but my contacts and calendar are showing exclamation marks for sync while the mail portion seems fine. Should I try to flash the version of Pure Nexus again to see if it resolves the issue? I checked the FAQ but found nothing.
Thanks.

Do you have https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gm.exchange installed? I don't think it comes with the beans gapps.

@ktmom: Beans GApps doesn't have it, so he'll need to install it. For that matter, I don't think OpenGApps has it either.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting..... When I try to go to that link it tells me "Sorry! This content is not available in your country yet. We're working to bring the content you love to more countries as quickly as possible. Please check back again soon." I'm in Canada. Funny thing is that I left it to do other things cam back to it and restarted the services again and it works. I assume that you are pointing me to Google Exchange Servcies.... Don't understand how it would work without it. I'll do some more quick looking.... but thanks again.
Took a quick look before posting and found this http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/exchange-services/exchange-services-6-5-1791555-android-apk-download/. This is what you are talking about, right?

Yes, that's it.
Wonder why the play store blocks it in Canada? Think it's a NAFTA thing? [emoji48]

It was just a demo for the Google I/O. It's not yet available (if it ever will be).

Was the new marketplace for Gingerbread as well? Because it basically uses the same tech as the "Send to phone" app

The new marketplace does not need an OS update after Froyo. Froyo already have the "send to phone" feature included. Now it's just a matter of when Google will put the new marketplace online (maybe in a few weeks as they are still testing it).

Yeah someone above just said it was for Gingerbread and not Froyo which is why i asked
Marketplace is updated in froyo.. you can do automatic updates and stuff. Slight changes here in froyo land but more significant than 2.0 -> 2.1. Its not as revolutionary as you think based on some of the stuff they were giving as sneak peaks for gingerbread. Still.. i can get flash beta on my phone and have it set to auto update. still messing with it all now.
Edit: I could be wrong on the send to phone thing.. my understanding was ginger bread. My bad if i gave out wrong info.
Send to phone is part of Froyo, its a developer API so until some devs implement it it won't work

Google Now on AOSP-Based ICS ROMs?

found it few minutes ago

Yup kinda work tho...voice search not working tho....
A step by step instructions can be found here. Hope this helps.
http://www.talkandroid.com/120282-google-now-is-available-to-all-aosp-based-ice-cream-sandwich-roms/
I followed the instructions in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28243307&postcount=214
And have Google Now (minus Voice Support) working on my Nexus s 4G without having to go through all of the prop.build changes. A simple APK replacement, permissions, reboot.

Have you got location switched on? Settings, Location Services, tick Location and Google Search.
Clear cache, turn round twice and do a handstand.
Worked for me at least as I had the same issue (bar the turning and handstand)

Typing works, but really...nobody wants to have to always type out long questions or searches. Im just going to wait for the voice to get working, if it does. The Google Now might be specific to Jelly Bean not ICS in some ways, maybe thats causing voice not to work

:good: exactly. Its only a matter of time though, when the update hits the nexus s, then there will be better than stable builds and apps from jelly bean.

Jelly Bean has killed Light Flow

Installed Jelly Bean this afternoon and so far so good.
However, Light Flow keeps crashing, so I can't use it. I've followed all instructions, restarted, removed and reinstalled but still no luck.
Anyone else having the problem, or know of an alternative?
I only need it for Gmail and Handcent SMS.
It's not Jelly Bean - it looks like the latest update to Gmail caused it.

In that case, hopefully the lightflow guys will be on it pretty quick...

You start google now by holding the home softkey on the display and move your finger up to the magnifier.
Tip: Don't even try it out, let it disabled. Your phone will have ~30% less runtime when it's activated.

Yeah, I stumbled across it that way aswell and it's disabled, as I've no intention of using it.
I just wish I could also uninstall 'SmartAction', but that's another story for another thread, as keen to get my LED notifications working first.

If you're rooted maybe, but you can't if you're not. The only option is to uninstall updates.
New version of Lightflow (3.6.1) in the Play Store that is supposed to fix the problem with Gmail notifications.
Still doesn't show Gmail notifications via the LED on my phone though.
---------- Post added at 08:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:51 AM ----------
Quick update - I've been in touch with the developer and he suggested the following, which worked with the latest version (3.6.1) for me:
Go into lightflow->notifications gmail, select the gmail label you want (disable and enable it if already enabled) and see if that works.

Yea but this is XDA. It's way to easy to install or update an app via the Play Store. XDA-style, we unlock the bootloader, install the new ROM, rip the apk of the app, then host it on a filesharing service. :highfive:

This is not the same app, the one you linked is the Google Messenger application, what I have posted is the AOSP MMS APK. This is the MMS apk you all are familiar with from CyanogenMod, but with a material design like the new Google Messenger app.
Was this actually updated with material on aosp or did someone customize it.
Thanks for the app link. It's so much better than the Google messenger. I couldn't stand not having the enter key and all the random colors for people.
Thanks for the apk, I have an issue. After I install and set as default messenger app I get a "wrong APN" popup on the screen that won't clear. I'm on Sprint, any ideas?

Should be, the Google Assistant app on Play Store basically just a shortcut so almost every phone can download to use GA now, and it won't work without internet connection, all the functionality is stored on Google side not on the phone itself.
