i'm using Slim 6.0.1 right now the battery drains so quickly.
i may consider to go back to Slim 5.0.1 or 5.1.1.
which ROM has the best camera, good performance & okay battery? (for locked boot-loader)
do you think experience rom is better than AOXP & Slimm?
thanks in advance for any advice.
(i'm a noob so i don't wanna spend ages trying out every roms)
Xperience rom (stock .291 based) is the best - stable, fast, debloated, battery friendly ?
That rom using latest pexo camera mod - better than stock sony camera ?
Best photo quallity you will get after flashing cyberian camera ?

Well yeah it does require unlocked bootloader, but you still get stock like quality, maybe better, and it is like you didn't even lose DRM keys.
Using the same Xperience Rom with Cyberian camera, runs great and Cyberian camera really improves the Z3 Compact camera. Battery is very good, close to 5.1.1 but going to try tweaking some things to improve it more. Possibly use Amplify or Power Nap Xposed modules.

In my opinion, the 4.4.4 stock have some bugs in the App, less options, but, Indisputably, the best post processing. Lighter and prettiest than others.

When I said 4.4.4, i think I can tell about all stock based roms, with original keys.
I understud yu, but today I use the KitKat with all the apps I need (include snapchat with the same filters than 6.0; youtube with background playback; a beta launcher; a beta music player... etc... all the apps...). And probably I can do this with a 4.1.2 too, with a older smarphone.
Whatever, a day I will be forced to go to xperience or lineageos too, but today, i stay with my kitkat.
PS:
Material design sucks.
Xperience Rom's battery drains quite quickly when i use music app.
(music app itself consumes more than anything else, even more than screen).
anyone face similar situation?

hey guys...!!! Recently i tried cyanogen mod 10.1.2..!!! I was not much happy with it because it dint have any apps..but maybe after adding apps...it may work nicely..!!!
However I'm really confused to what custom ROM to use???
I know that I should not ask this question...however if anyone can guide me with the best rom to use which has really nice battery improvement, system tweaks, performance and sound quality...!!!
I am not asking this to insult any other custom rom builders...!! I need to know what is the best for my xperia z..!!! so just asking this..!!!
There is no best rom. Try them for yourself and use the one that is best for you.

It depends on the piece of string I believe.
I run stock with DoomKernal & a few Xposed Modules. Or Cyanogenmod / AOKP. But with anything but stock you run the risk of something not working correctly. It depends on the string like I said.

Playing around with voltages etc. in the Kernel, screen brightness, unused services results in pretty good battery times. For best battery results it's best to stay stock. Cyanogen and AOKP are not great on battery at the moment (from what i've read)

Hi guys.
I've just got my Z1, coming from a Nexus 5 (great phone, just fancied trying something a bit classier.) I guess that my question is a simple one: I rooted and installed a custom ROM on the N5 almost immediately. The ROMs and kernels available for it made a real difference, especially with regards to battery life. Thing is, the Z1's battery, performance and obviously camera on stock 4.4.2 already outperforms the N5 with my favourite custom ROM/kernel combination. With this in mind, would you recommend rooting and installed a custom ROM on the Z1?
Thanks in advance.

If you are content with how stock is then just stay with it but if you feel like its lacking in some parts and could be better with custom roms, go ahead. I always root mine btw, just to debloat it.

Aight man. Just make sure to backup your ta before unlocking and you're good to go :good:
Root on the Z1 is a matter of Life, it cannot be without it. For Custom Roms depends of the user needs. Z1 Stock 4.3 Rom actually working very well, nothing to say.
I want to know your opinion, which one is a better(generally) option for a daily driver ROM on our phones based on today's options?
1- Stock/Stock based ROMs
2- Aftermarket ROMs (Like CM,Carbon ...)
It depends...CM Based are for Android Purists who don't like other designs but prefer raw and clean android
Hoever I prefer Nice UI so I go with stock based such as Existenz and the like

The stock roms is not bad, but in my opinion i'd prefer on custom rom because it has a lot of customization, but of course use it at your own risk because ur warranty will void if use custom roms. right now im using VanirAOSP in my XSP. its CM based running on kitkat 4.44 and can be used daily, im not a pro yet and i think u must read and learn and then compare them (the stock vs Custom). good luck ^.^

Vanir is much smoother than stock roms.
You dont invalidate your warranty unless you unlock bootloader (and even then keep a backup and noone will ever know).
Try out the LBL ROMs such as paranoid nexus or CM11 if you dont want to unlock the bootloader. They run really smoothly and with the right setup can be just as good as stock for power consumption (obviously non stock has no stamina mode) and personally I think better for features and performance.
You can also find most Sony apps on XDA to install should you want those (I use Sony Album, movies and Smart Connect).

There is a problem with cm11 roms - sound and mics seems to be very low... So may be 4.1 or 4.3 roms.

So in terms of actual performance stock/stock based ROM's do better?
Why use CM11 roms? They are buggy and laggy. Just use CM10.2, it's a lot faster than stock roms and all the features are working except for FM radio, but you can use SpiritFM.
Try the custom roms and if you like them more than stock use one of them. Many people prefer them but i like more sony's stock rom, i don't have any performance issue on it and i love sony ui.

Well, last time i used 4.3 - it was very laggy and slow. Existenze or something like that... I really dont need "new" features - i just want fast and smooth response.

I don't mean stock 4.3. Try CyanogenMod 10.2. It is Android 4.3 as well. No slowdowns for me.
Here is a link to it.
Xperia SP = HuaShan
i used vanir in a few weeks, it run smooth, until i try playing HD games like MC4, and the screen is only black with the hud, no cutscene.
now i use beanstalk rom. it run smooth and i can play MC4 with no lag at all, so i guess vanir is not that perfect too,
i wanna try CM11 but the review tells that cm 11 is still buggy (am I right ?).
anyone in here try that out?
Hi there.
I been spending several hours reading user's opinions about several roms for the xsp.
I saw plenty of unofficial roms based on cyanogenmod official roms. And the question that pops into my mind it's.
Why so many mods? People doesn't like the official releases?
Also I been reading that 5.1 roms are laggy, and in a custom rom i'm looking for stability and performance.
Maybe I should go for and official cyanogenmod 11 rom?
Maybe for a stock based rom?
What do you think?
Hello.
Yes, there is a lot of rom for SP. But just a few work as it supposed to.
Lollipop it is in his nightly stage, though is very stable and the most recent apps, you will be able to use.
There is too a recent patch for security, we should take in consideration, Im using myself as a daily driver without problems, nevertheless still have some minor bugs, but nothing that cant make you wish to throw your SP on wall
If you want to test and see how looks like, I would recommend Sabermod Unofficial Or CM 12.1 Official Nightly
cm12.1+ addons imo cuz it's my second full month on it and it never failed me ....no problems for me and great performance

battery is good too yep
Go for CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies with addons...Its Best for lollipop based ROMs.
You can try unofficial CM13 also if you can use the phone without camera. Battery life and performance of CM13 is far better than cm 12.1.
To be honest, is a matter of usage and preference. For me it was working fine but my phone got way too hot for my taste, but the deal breaker was that no matter what lolipop ROM I used facebook HD playback was choppy as hell. I know that it sounds silly but that's something that I need. None of these issues exist on stock, of course (C5306 - 1.205)
I think the Sabermod unofficial takes the lead on cm12.1 ... Great battery and butter smooth. I think it' s the for performance and battery !
I use official CM11 slimmed by me, without gapps, disabled LogCat, little modified build.prop + WilliamsPLUS and I'm really happy ; p
which 5.1 rom has fewer lag and more batterylife?
@beodo
A sea of roms but many of them are discontinued or not updated, so first check that one.
As fellow members said CyanogenMod 12.1 Unofficial SaberMod with add ons is the best right now for me as well, very fast, really fluid, stable and good battery life, in is some parts is even better than the latest official stock rom.
I m using this rom for over a month and i love it.
If you need even better battery life you could use Helium kernel (just dirty flash at recovery) and enable conservative governor, if you would like to take it further you can also install xposed framework which unlocks you much more features like power saving better experience, extra customization and more.
All of the above are continuously updated and supported by our great developers too :good:

There is a rom in the making which is exactly that. Even though it is still in beta right now, it is silky smooth. It might hit XDA sooner or later, so keep an eye out for it on the development sections.
