Here is my tutor after a hard work on my zenfone 4 max whole day.
first of all you must download the last asus update for zenfone 4 max, I used 233.
put it into sd card, boot into stock recovery and update. (if you have a new phone just do it, if you already unlocked bootloader and installed twrp, just boot bootloader and flash stock recovery above.)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YP7v9sBclQULxYPOndDPCMLikZsT8urN
after this step, just do unlock bootloader. (if not unlocked), and flash twrp.
*recommended reboot recovery twrp and make a backup now
reboot bootloader and flash the boot above, it has no decrypt and magisk 16
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bHk0znQNsH-dWZ89P525gC-rrvN4e9bl
reboot recovery twrp. Do the following:
format data partition,
reboot recovery twrp
clear data, cache and dalvik cache.
Now boot system, all data encrypt is gone, and you can activate it if you want.
You cant boot system until this boot image is flashed, or encrypt will be activated.

kernel is the core, it is in boot image.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(after extract boot image, cause it is zipped)
Stock Recovery
Do you have stock recovery img file for our Zenfone 4 Max (ZC554KL)? Kindly upload it again.
Hi, do you have latest stock recovery for this device? I want to update to oreo, but it requires latest firmware (at least ver .352) to execute it.
latest recovery version
Hi alegmx!
i'm really thankful that you provide this stock recovery image , it works!
but can you provide us with a newer version of the recovery image? it'll be big help if you can provide it with us!
your version is currently .215 , im upgrading my os to version 412 and it needs atleast the .352 version of the recovery.
I found an easy and convenient way to flash Huawei updates when twrp is installed. No data loss. In my case I updated from June to July patch without any hiccups.
1. Download the HWOTA8 folder zip to your device and extract it to the root of your SD card. I provided the link at the bottom of the tutorial.
2. Download the Huawei update and wait till it finished.
3. Boot to twrp and go straight to the HWOTA8 folder.
4. Now install the hwota8_update.zip, this will install a special no check version of the stock recovery.
5. After reboot you'll see a failed update attempt, ignore the message and boot to system.
6. Now that we have the stock recovery you can go straight to the update app in the settings and install the update.
7. After 5 minutes the update should be finished and the device will boot to system.
8. The bootloader will be still unlocked so you can modify again with twrp, magisk and so on. No data loss.

gude, tried this today to upgrade P10plus from .382 to .385. worked as promissed. afterwards just installed the TWRP and magisk to get back root. thx
Dear Sir,
Thank you for the clear and concise method for flashing stock updates when TWRP is installed.
Please help me with instructions how to upgrade my unlocked, rooted and TWRP installed Android 7 ROM to OREO.
My phone model number is: VKY-L09
Build number: VKY-L09C02B102
EMUI version: 5.1
Android: 7.0
Kernel: 4.1.18-gfd75bb
TWRP: 3.1.0-0
there is only one thing that makes me wonder: i cannot install a differential update, this always fails, so the complete package will download ( almost 3GB ), then the installation will be successful. any idea why?
Dear xda members,
I recently installed the Oxygen stable 9.0.2 on OnePlus3T
The phone was unlocked, rooted and with twrp 3.3.0-1 installed
During first boot after installation, I received this error:
Decryption unsuccessfull
The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt
The only way to continue is a factory reset (but I would like another way, if possible).
I was able to revert to Oxygen stable 5.0.8, but the error persist.
Is there any procedure to access the encrypted data partition and recover files stored in it, before wiping all?
Thank you.
Kind regards
you need to do a factory reset from the recovery menu. You will lose all your data but its the only way.
You should totally flash the 5.0.8 fw after flashing the offical pie OOS. It has been discussed in the official thread here at XDA.

Thank you very much for the information!
This is what I did
1 Boot recovery and press cancel when it asks for password
2 Adb push needed files in /mnt
3 Flash the rom (OnePlus3TOxygen_9.0.2_28_OTA_082_all_1905110010_f09a2bfe8e361d.zip)
4 Flash the firmware package (oxygenos-9.0.2-bl-km-5.0.8-firmware-3T.zip)
5 Flash twrp 3.3.0-1 again in the recovery partition
6 Flash Magisk 19.2
7 Wipe cache / dalvik-art (with errors related to mount storage)
But I found the same error of the first post. Which is my mistake in the procedure?

You could have flashed the firmware first, ROM second, but I don't think it would have changed anything.
We used to have this problem with the closed beta and with the open betas as well.
Once you wipe your storage, flash Pie, boot it, it doesn't happen again. I've been to Nougat, then back to Pie, no issues.

after that flash latest pie fastboot firmware it will work smoothly. and no longer stuck on boot logo error.
if you getting fastboot firmware flashing error too
just put firmware folder name small and alphnumaric don't use symbols or special charcters like put the folder name firmware instead of like this WW_ZB601KL(ZB602KL)_16.2017 , just remove it completely, and put it in dirct in any drive of your pc like C, or D, or E or F. not in a subfolder of drive.
and always use this raw file for flashing rawprogram_unsparse_ww_no_nfc_no_fsg.xml "ww" means "worldwide" and indian version is no nfc and fsg is a backup of device imei ,serial ,bluetooth and wifi adress , don't flash factory fsg cause it will remove your built in device fsg partition and remove all your imei and bluetooth which is needed for connection and working for sim.
3rd firmware has only this rawprogram file :-rawprogram_unsparse_ww_no_fsg.xml so no need to take tension of it , it will not gonna break your device. use this if first or second firmware didn't work for you
fsg=FSG (FileSystem Golden copy) and BACKUP are backups of MODEMST1 and MODEMST2 respectively. If MODEMST1 or MODEMST2 are erased (by wrong factory flashing say) and phone notices an invalid partition, FSG and BACKUP will be restored.
/fsg and /backup are backups of /modemst1 and /modemst2 respectively. If /modemst1 or /modemst2 are erased (by factory flashing say) and phone notices an invalid partition it will copy /fsg to /modemst1 and /backup to /modemst2.

what do you mean? I got it from the official ASUS website. I never update mine from any other source other than their official site
thanks , the third rom worked for dead boot repair.
Hello,
I recently wiped my device to start from scratch as in no os. I went into TWRP then wipe and advanced and deleted each option available. Then I downloaded the latest raw firmware I could find which was WW_ZS661KS_18.0410.2108.158_M3.35.19.17-ASUS_1.1.5_Phone-user.raw.zip. After doing a flash_all I obviously wasn't on the latest version of firmware so here is where I get stuck. In order to avoid encrypting the data partition what am I supposed to do to properly upgrade before root? What I ended up doing was;
1. Flash latest RAW firmware
2. Boot into recovery and factory reset
3. Boot into OS, go through basic setup until the home screen
4. Copy latest firmware from ASUS website (WW-18.0410.2203.201) to internal data partition on phone
5. Flash TWRP
6. Boot into TWRP and flash latest firmware
7. Boot to B partition
8. Reboot into recovery and flash firmware again
9. Boot back to A parition
10. Flash twrp on A and B
Is that correct or should I be doing a factory reset / full wipe somewhere in there as well?
Thanks
Why not simply wipe and flash the version of the official firmware you're lookin for with TWRP OR RAW flash flash and upgrade the normal way. And then root. Looks like a lot of unnecessary steps...
