qcom_rx_wakelock. What can he the cause? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Yah I know, that this question has been asked before. But like is there really no one who knows the cause? It is known that it's the router's fault. Even at my home, I have two routers in one subnet (one main as a router, second as a switch with WiFi). When connected to the first one the wakelock appears, to the second - the phone sleeps like a baby. So is there no clue what setting on the router can be related to this? Or is it just random software/hardware related thing, beyond the reach of the end user?

I am experiencing the same problem after I moved into a University dormitory.
This problem happens when the device is connected to a mass authentication network with IGMP snooping on. It's an option in the router's settings.
People have mentioned that Franco's Kernel can solve the problem. He also mentioned in one of the changelogs that his kernel ignores qcom_rx_wakelock from then on. But I've tried to flash the FrancoKernel and it doesn't seem to help (about 2 weeks ago).
Since I live in a dorm, there's almost nothing I can do with the router. But I do switch on "App WLAN Multi/Broadcasting Filter" in developer options. As well as only keep Wi-Fi alive when charging. I have enough data so it's not a problem to disconnect from Wi-Fi while device is sleeping.
I recommend u to try Franco's Kernel. Maybe it will work. If you find any solution I'd like to know. Good luck and thanks.

That's what I learnt while digging the Internet about this issue. Try the Franco kernel. It might help.

Flash dorimanx kernel ..

I know these kernels and their options... I wanted to know the cause.

Thank you! Finally someone who knows how to solve this issue.
One more question: how do i edit/change the settings of Franco Kernel? It doesn't seem to be an option in the settings or anywhere after flashing the kernel. Thank you.

[Q] X1 - WIFI problem, connected but not working

Hello to you all
I tried to search, no luck. (maybe just missed the solution if any)
I have problems with wifi.
I can connect to wifi network, (ip is set to device, I can see it in router statistic) but none of the programs that connect to internet.
opera, iexplorer, facebook...........qGPS... are not working. like no connection.
I am using Energy.XPERIA.23678.Sense2.5.Cookie.Aug18, and same happens on my other X1 with Energy.XPERIA.21903.Sense2.5.Cookie.May.09
I also tried other roms. on original it was working I flashed other roms and I have this problem. tried too many still the same problem.
I always erase all (tool29 or how its called) before flashing, always hard reset.
my radio is: 1.14.25.55
I tried to connect to different networks, still the same. even on my home network (that I know all configurations) its not working.
thank you for help and your time.
---------------
its definetly not the router issue, tried restart all things. I can manage my router (I can see the device connected in router table), I tried to set wifi on X1 to performance also other way to quality(or how its called). no luck. but its not router issue. I tried it with open router (no security at all- diferent devicess can connect.), also tried to set different wifi standards no luck.
I have the same problem on 2 phones both are X1. tried different roms. still the same. my other HTCkaiser can connect no problem.
It's occurred in my Vaio. Hahaha. I thought it's the router issue,

No I mean, I have the same problem like yours but it occurs in my Vaio not X1. Not so sure why but I think it's router issue, it's not your device's fault. Just opinion.
In standard communication manager set max performance for wi-fi. I don't know where is it on energy rom but must be in windows folder.
(Sory for my english)
same
have the same problem with one of my x1s after I've flashed an energy rom/ It's not the routers fault, the other X1 works fine with it /So, is there any solution for this/ have tried a lots of roms after that, but it didn't solved the problem/ The x1 connects to the routers but can not use any of them / The routers are all unsecured, no key needed to use them.
I had the same issue, my solution was to change the settings by taking firewall off router through your pc and make it a open network till you connect wifi from your phone to the router then once thats done and you have tested the internet then you can switch back on the firewall settings and your good to go.
Yes!!!

Don't mean to interrupt, Change the router performance (Router is the WiFi not the phone X1) different router (WiFi device that shares internet) means different setup.
Out of topic, contrary from mymailx, I have different problem. When my X1 can use the WiFi well, but my tablet and pc can't use the WiFi, it is connected but can't access internet (yellow exclamation at WiFi icon at taskbar). odds. I have restarted ever settings.

Unstable Wifi Connection on CM7

I'm having issues with the wifi connection having to be reset every few minutes when used. It seems to outright lose signal and can't even scan for networks until a reset. I'm on CM7 stable, using the latest OC kernel by Dalingrin. Anyone experiencing similar?
I have a similar issue.
From time to time (something like every 5 min), the connection seems ok (in the wifi pannel, it is stated as connected), but I can't access anything anymore by wifi. I have to disconnect and reconnect to my wifi router in order to make it work.
(I also use the last stable CM7... And apart from that, it's gorgeous ! )
So I'm indeed not alone in seeing this... interesting. Thanks for letting me know. As well, I agree, everything aside from the wifi works great and the tablet tweaks incorporated are nothing short of brilliant.
Mine is table with CM7 final and with Philmod 6, both with the 03/31 and 04/04 kernels.
same here - cm7 stable + 4/4 OC
just loaded up nightly 39 + 4/14/11A OC to try that combo

Is this not the same issue all over about AES? Check your router, if it's WPA2 it's AES, if it's WPA it could be AES.
CM7 and some routers have issues when AES is used, try to disable it.

Can anyone else comment on this? I might just go down this route, but I'm wondering if there a few more who did similar and are seeing no wifi issue as a result.
Also, I'm surprised to see a CM7 final release with a wifi issue such as this. If it indeed is related to encryption (AES vs TKIP), that's further perplexing. While I could go about changing the settings for my router, I can't go about doing so for many others - particularly in public. As well, if I'm to tether from my N1, I'm going to do it with a password, meaning I'm to do it with AES as there isn't much choice built in.
I hate to say this as I'm impressed with the amount of work that went into (and normally always goes into) CM, but I figure it has to be said. To be fair, I'm not sure how widespread this issue may be (does it affect the version of CM7 on tablets, only?) but I'm surprised it can exist in a version of cm7 considered stable.

I'll try 39 etc but I suspect if they made changes in that regard they would have said to retest in that logged bug.
As far as I know, I've heard reports this happens on some phones as well, not just tablets, not just the NC.
And it doesn't affect most people, in fact I'll bet it affects a minority of folks. If it affected everyone I'm sure CM7 wouldn't have released that way of course.
And yeah I'm with you, I _do not_ want to use my N1 tethered with Open encryption, but not much I can do until this is fixed.

Did you try 39 out? This issue is MIGHTY annoying for me as it is kind of hard getting a company with 39 000 employees to back away from AES on the WLAN..
Also going away from AES at home means that I cannot have my access point using 300 Mbit 802.11N which also is a real bummer.
I found this at the CM7 bugtracker, look at the final few posts there is a wifi-driver to try out.
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=3314
Also noticed there was a complete guide about pushing the file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11974146&postcount=22
So if CM7 on my phone works fine on wifi, that means a NC should work the same more or less, correct?

I guess you didn't notice who posted in that bug, and posted tiwlan_drv.ko in the bug?
Anywho, for me it did help my own and work AP's, but it's still broken tethering to my phone. So it seems better but not perfect, give it a try. Just make a copy of the original tiwlan_drv.ko and push the single file from that zip up in its place and reboot.

[Q] Do have the same problem? (wi-fi)

Hello.
I've tryed many ROMs that are here in xda: Froyobread, GingerDX, GingerXperia, kuyaDROID, xGin, etc... And now I am using Stornmix with stock kernel.
But in all this ROMs I've had always the same problem: wi-fi.
My wi-fi connection works good during 1 or 2 minutes. Then it stops working and I can't use the browser nor the market or other app that uses internet connection.
When I turn off and on again the Wi-fi, the internet connection comes back good, but the same happens after few time.
I even tryed 1 wi-fi fix that i've found here, but didn't solve my problem.
Have you guys experienced this problem too?
Any clue how to solve it?

Always have been.
Delete the remembered connections.Sometimes too much of them cause problems.
There's a compatibility issue with WPA-AES encryption. It's been discussed here and somewhere else (official SE forum i think). Not much to do about it...

Scratch the "AES" and make it "EAP" ...
IF AES would be a problem I think no one of us could connect to their access points as WPA/2 actually uses AES for encryption ...

I had a similar problem with GDX back in the days of v012 onwards. The WiFi connection wouldn't completely die but only go through a disconnect/reconnect loop every 2-5 minutes (unless I used "Wifi Static" to set a static IP configuration for my access point).
I solved the "disconnect/reconnect loop while using DHCP" problem by switching to another WiFi channel (my Access Point automatically determined channel 1 to be the best choice ... I later on switched to channel 11 and the problems fixed itself) - sounds weird, but worked.
You may give it a try.
On the other hand we already had weird WiFi problems which really didn't go away unless one flashed back to stock (where the WiFi suddenly worked flawlessly again) and changed over to the custom ROM again from there.

Thank you for your help, I'll try that and see if it improves my wi-fi.
And yes, as I can remember, it worked nice with the stock rom.

[Q] why does wifi always die in DjangoManoucheX?

Okay guys I've got a constant problem with DMX, not just with this version, but I start to get tired of it. So after a day or two of flashing, wifi starts to stuck at "Obtaining IP address", and does not connect at all after that. As I said it's not only with this version (I'm on 1.6.5), I have also tried different kernels, etc, but it's still the same. I don't want to always reflash, but I'd also stick with this ROM as I really like it. This problem does not come up on CM-based ROMs at all. Thanks for any tips.
Btw I've also tried static/dynamic IP settings, I've changed a router (not because of this), reseted it many times, so not that I didn't try anything at all.
I never had a issue... Have you installed the rom with full wipe?
Of course I did a full wipe, didn't restore any system apps, and as I said it works perfectly for a few days, then bamm! I was playing SongPop, started a game with someone and it stopped when downloading songs.. then I went in wifi options and it showed this IP bug once again. By the way I've just finished reflashing (now without full wipe), and it doesn't even connect now. I really like flashing ROM's etc, but not the same one all over again lol.
Finally I could set static IP on my phone, works now, Thread can be closed. If anybody has the same problem (I've read I'm no the only one), then holla at me!
I'm having a wifi issue from the day i have purchased this phone my wifi always go in the sleep mode don't know why no matter which ROM i use it goes to sleep after the screen is locked or after 5-6 sec of no use of phone.
i'm the only one having this prob i guess.. I thing its an hardware issue, not sure, hope some1 could help me out ^_^
Note: i have kept wifi policy sleep never
Problems with wifi is a kernel issue.
Its adviseable to post which kernel is used
Well I wouldn't be sure, as I was using Kowalski kernel and KoB kernel too, both had the same problem, and only on DjangoManoucheX ROM. But it seems to work now with static IP set.
akash.mahadeshwar has his ROM/kernel stated in his signature, too bad I can't help you.
Lol I don't know if its hardware or software issue but changing rom or kernel dosent fixes it :-/

have you tried changing your wifi to static ip?
if not, then go into wifi settings and long press/modify the one you cannot connect to. Go to advanced settings and change from DHCP to Static IP. Run Windows commander (just type 'cmd' in the Start Menu search box), and type 'ipconfig /all'. It will show all the informations you need to type to your device's wifi settings. You can give almost any number to the first IP field (when your IP getaway is, for example 192.168.7.1, you only have to change the last number to any you want to, like 192.168.7.155.. but the best way is to get the IP number your device used before wifi got stucked). If you can't see DNS1 and DNS2 in your ipconfig, then you have to go into your router's settings (in browser), that will show them. If you type everything correctly, then Save button won't be greyed out no more, and voila. Wifi works perfectly for me since then. I hope it helps.

Changing Wi-Fi to static is far from being a solution; at best it's a workaround.
It's probably related to LG code, used to compile the module loaded by kernel.
I'm not sure if the problem you're reporting us exactly this: I have a brief disconnection/reconnection sometimes when I unlock the phone (Wi-Fi suspends policy sets as never), but this it's not annoying me to much because while sleeping it's connected, and the 2-3s after wake-up is not to much.
Do not say "thanks"; just press it under here.

No, my problem was I could not connect to my wifi AT ALL. Couldn't even do it after a full wipe and reflash, so using a static IP is a solution for me, as it works for 3 days by now. It can be related to the stock ROM's code, as CyanogenMod ROMs don't have this problem for me.
Try flashing KoB kernels again, in mine its wifi work correctly

HELP for 20a and CM users !!

Hey guyz, my wlan_rx_wake wakelock is driving me insane.
Please do a little test so i can determine what is causing this, it is really simple!!!!
stock 20a/b/c user and CM users (specially stock!):
set your wifi to never sleep on advance wifi menu
write your ip number
leave the phone alone for 5 minutes
now ping it (cmd -> ping "your ip" -t) and post result !!
Obs: i just want to know if the ping answer will come immediately or just after a while when the phone wakes up. it shouldnt answer immediately like on 10f/h firmware, but it answers immediately on CM meaning wifi is not sleeping well.
Please post result!!! this is driving me insane

i didnt have to do this when i was on ICS one day ago, so i dont think it will change putting static IP.
Could you please post your ping results since u have 20b??
maybe in jellybean something is changed that affects how your router treats your device now. Ping wouldn't change, with this issue or not. This problem is probably due to the DHCP of your router, checking if the IP is released and ready to be used on another device, which your phone will wake up and respond 'no'.
this happened to me too after changing to jellybean but giving static fixed it.

yeah, thats why i asked for someone (with 20a/b) to ping the phone and post results after leaving it standing for a while. I want to know if this fix that first appear on 10f firmware is also on 20a,
I saw my router logs and didnt find anything unusual as i imagined. Puting static IP would only be effective in my home (even not knowing if it would actualy fix that issue) and useless everywhere else.
As is said nothing has change on my network router & devices. Until one day ago i was on ics and ping request would not give me an imediately response because it was sleeping, but after flashing CM, ping request are answering imediately, just like before stock 10f firmware. Im pretty sure its something in the rom/kernel.
Plus, my dad galaxy s2 and my mom L7 works like it should; answering ping requests like the second image.

hey, did you try setting the wifi.supplicant_scan_interval?
After setting it to 300 i think im really getting ALOT more juice but im not sure if its a placebo effect, and i've eco mode on through terminal.

i actually tested once having 200 as wifi.supplicant, but didnt seee any improvement. it shouldnt also, because that parameter means that it look for your saved wifi but when they are not in range, so you would only maybe see an affect when not conected to wifi..
