dear all, I have some questions about oxygen os, so I m trying to ask some oxygen os users, hope you can help (wondering if buying a oneplus 5 or not )
i'd like to know if the following features are included in OOS:
1. long press vol buttons to skip songs while screen is off
2. editable clock in status bar (like show it center or left also, and show also the date)
3. if extra actions can be assigned long-pressing or double pressing the hw buttons (recents, home/fingerprint and back buttons, not the virtual navbar buttons): I mean actions like for example show volume panel, show quicksettings/notifications panel, show power menu, kill foreground app, screen off etc)
4. dt2s in lockscreen?
TIA guys!
1. No, but instead there are gestures to pause or change song (volume long press probably after rooting)
2. No, not sure can it be achieved w/o Xposed (No Xposed on Nougat at the moment)
3. Yes
4. Yes

The 3t and the 5 used the exact same screen module and size is therefore as good as the same, around the 5.5 inch screen.
yeah thanks i know that, i don't own a 3t, atm i have a mi5, which is a 5 inch, and i feel i couldn't stand a even bigger phone ;( bye!
I'm also interested in #1. I know that custom ROMs support that, I'm sure it's do-able on OOs too. Maybe there's somebody who can enlighten us

Hey all I was wondering if there was an app where we can double tap the home button and it brings the top half of the screen down so that way we can reach buttons easier. The iPhone six has this feature and I think it would come in handy on all big phones like the iPhone six.
Sometimes when your trying to use the phone one handed you just can't reach the hamburger button on the Play Store.
Nothing major but I'm sure it'll be something that people would use.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe for Xposed once it's released for ART
I know something better. Pie
Just need one to control the hamburger.
It's been working perfectly this whole week with the menu button.

I've tried Pie and I just don't like it. This is why Android should have never abandoned the Menu button.

It works on my G3 (just tested it) but I haven't felt a need to use the menu button in along time.
Swipepad with Nova launcher
when you are adding a pad,go to shortcuts then nova action and then you can pick expand notification bar or/and expand quick settings
O.k., call me OCD, set in my ways, or just plain stubborn, but I simply hate having a recents button in the navbar. I'd much rather have a menu button, and long press the home button to get recents, hearkening back to my old Galaxy SIII. Now, I've flashed countless ROM's on the Nexus 6, and have come across only two that allow the ability to eliminate any button and replace it with anything else. See screenshot for an example of what I'm looking for. Most of the marshmallow ROM's out there only allow you to move the buttons around, and add buttons to the navbar, but none allow you to eliminate or remap the buttons that are already there except for VRToxin. So here are my questions: 1) Why is this kind of customization not found in many ROM's? 2) Is there a mod, or Xposed module that will allow this? I looked at Gravity Box and it doesn't seem to have that ability. Any thoughts/wisdom/comiseration would be appreciated.

1. most likely it isnt needed by many people
2. i dont use xposed for many reasons, but one thing is that xposed is not recommended to be run on a custom rom, as it could, and would, mess with that roms code, causing issues and/or reboots.

That's what I figured, it just seems like this would offer much more flexibility, no?

Try Dirty Unicorns. It has a feature called smart bar and you can add and remove buttons to the nav bar. Its still in the test phase but pretty solid.
---------- Post added at 10:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ----------
Go to their Google + site to get the latest test builds. The Marshmallow builds are not official so not on XDA yet.

Looks like even on DU you can't remove the recents button ?

I have found one other rom that had the ability to change the navbar but in the last build the feature is gone again. I keep an eye on that rom as i'm searching for the same things as you. It was the last experimental build of "srewd" rom.
If you find a rom yourself please report here
You mentioned gravity box. Gravitybox will let you assign single tap, double tap, and long press actions to navbar buttons. Up to 5 buttons (recent, home, back, menu, custom) with up to three actions each. (Although single tap is slower if a double tap is assigned). You can assign built in actions or apps or shortcuts.
That's a lot of flexibility. The only thing you can't do is change the symbol for those buttons. I guess that's the part you want that gb didn't have?
That would work. I don't care about the symbol as long as the action can be reassigned. Is that GB marshmallow?
Only two I know of are Slim LP and VR toxin. I'm on VR toxin now, which is a great ROM, but security is broken, no pin or pattern unlock.

I'll keep my eye on it.
Even with gravity box, looks like the changes don't stick. Even when another action is assigned, that pesky recent button still brings up recents. It was worth a try.
For now I may just revert back to Slim LP, and hope Yank gets a Slim6 build up soon.
The recents button, and what it should do is considered basic functionality and it's deep in the SystemUI app (which is more like a service). I've changed my navigation bar by adding a permanent menu button and a lot of functionality there is hard coded. So I recommend you build you own rom and customize it.
Mine sticks. Reboot, still there.
I don't know why yours acts differently....
I use a lot of gravity box tweaks and they all work the way they're supposed to for me, except notification shade quick toggle tiles. Reverts to stock after reboot... I have to go back into the gb quick setting menu and press save to get my tiles back after reboot

Looks like the latest build of VRtoxin got the security issues fixed, and retains the navbar customization I like. I'll be sticking with this for a while.

DU is for the moment my best option but i know that it's about the recents button in your case. (mine is set to long "press for menu" for now)
Hello,
after the sources for the Z2 Pro have been released and good Custom ROMs are possible, I would love to buy this beautiful device. I've read alot about this U-Touch thing, where you navigate only by using the Home Button... and I don't like it. So my question is: Does this phone also have the normal Back, Home and Recents hardware buttons?
Thanks!
Hi,
Yes, you can add on screen buttons in "Developer Options" menu. At least you can do it with z2 (non pro). I guess you will have this option too.
So there are no "real" hardware buttons to the left and the right of the home button?
On screen buttons are in developer options in both models, make sure you reboot to effect the changes.
Thanks for your answers. I know about the possiblity to show the On Screen Buttons, but that's not what I wanted to know.
I'm curious if the device also has dedicated hardware buttons (not on screen) for Back and Recents, or just the U-Touch button?
It only has 1 physical button on the front..
I'd love to see an app or even integration in a custom rom to be able to configure the behaviour of the front button. What are the chances this will become reality?
It already lets you configure what the button does. You can also preset actions to open specific apps.

But that is in the ZUI ROM right? I'd like to see this in a separate app or built into custom ROM so it can also be used outside ZUI.
Now that the sources are available someone who knows what he is doing should be able to pull this off.
Is there a way to make swipe left on the u-touch button act like a back button? Maybe there would be a way to have it open an scripted action that acts as back button?
Edit: Just figured out that short tap is back, so my problem is solved!
Thanks, this helped me out!
I'm looking for a phone with this same exact button. I'm always super stunned how retarded iphones are compared to my $200 phone.
before i buy this phone,
is there a way to long press back on the navbar to either screen off or kill app? in unrootrd settings like Oneplus.
i just bought an unrootable G8x and it's terrific but you cannot do this. and that's a damn deal breaker for me. thank you!

You can use Navstar (from Nicelock or Goodlock) to put the 4th button on the navbar like in the picture.

can't test this on my current phone. in navstar a 4th button allows for long press screen off ? it's the function that's important, i can already add buttons.

As far as I know, Nicelock app is available on every phone. So follow https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/themes/app-nicelock-goodlock-2019-launcher-pie-t3908648 to install and use Navstar.

thank you. after several hours of effort i can't get any of that to work in any way. just FC's and errors everywhere.
can anybody say that long press to screen off it's available for a non rooted S10? that's all i want to know at this point. because the back button is available from every screen, not just home. i need long press to screen off available everywhere. any ideas?
Hello all,
I'm struggling to do something that has never previously been difficult on former Android devices I've owned.
Is there a simple non-root or adb way to switch the back and recents button in the navigation bar? I've tried a few apps and everything just draws over the existing bar, it's not a super helpful solution. I think custom navigation bar did this but it's not currently compatible with pixel 7 in play store.
Also is there a way to remove the accessibility shortcut on the navigation bar (little man) ? I have tried everything on every article I've read, it's still there.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Sanjay
I second this. Really getting old reaching completely across the screen to press the most common button you use.
Doesnt understand why Google not implement this? I only root so i can use @tulsadivers magisk mod to change this. Hopefully it comes to pixel 7. Otherwise im waiting for linage

I gotta say once I tried navigation gestures and got use to using them I would never go back to using 3 button navigation, and the sensitivity level seems to be so much better with pixel 7 that the gesture required to do a task is very smooth . Maybe it's because I keep the screen protector mode on even though I have no protector, anyways just my opinion on the navigation options, I sure people feel just as strongly why they use the 3 button navigation, not trying to start a war, cheers

Unfortunately I had an iPhone for a while and got used to them.
However, we can't we have both at the same time? An actual factual back button is just less frustrating sometimes.
