All online specification websites say the phone has a gyroscope. However upon downloading VR checking apps they say it doesn't have one.
My friend gave me a free VR set from some Chinese manufacturer which works on his iphone 5s. Is there anything i can do to watch videos in VR on this phone?

GSMArena says Honor 5C doesn't have gyroscope.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
Even he can test it himself.
However it has a so-called rotation vector, you can watch VR videos with the Apps TurnMe Panorama and VR Player free. The first works without any configuration in the second have to go to the settings and set the Rotation Vector as source. The Rotation vector works just like a gyroscope but sadly it isn't supported by many developers. Also got to mention that you can use it in the App Streetview to watch 360 images.
It doesn't have a gyroscope, only accelorometer

As opposed to getting no headaches with the Gear VR Apps, what I noticed from using a bunch of apps on the play store is that most of them gives me a major headache.. I also find their most of the bit rate for the Cardboard demo to be absolute crap. Including the Hobbit and Black Mass trailer. The headaches are also instant. Doesn't take a minute of viewing or more. Really makes me appreciate what sammys put together.
I'm not that knowledgeable in VR but is this due to the lack of consistent 60 fps and the motion lag on the play store apps? Or is this all because we're trying to use the carboard apps on our Gear VR. I have a friend who's interested in the Gear VR but has bought the Cardboard to test it out and I'm afraid he's not going to convert due to the bad experience. Thanks!

the gear vr is a heck of a lot smoother experience than the google cardboard apps, you're not wrong about that. hasn't given me headaches trying to use cardboard apps, but then again, i only tried them for a few seconds and was underwhelmed by them. stick with the vr apps.
I was thinking maybe it was the Gear VR that had something to do with it. Hopefully more quality apps will show up soon.

This is what Oculus is afraid of..ppl not bothering to give a try to oculus products due to bad experience with other half baked products..
Hey guys,
Ok here is the thing, for over 3 years now I have held out on buying an Oculus rift, hoping the next few months the official customer version would be out, but that until now is yet to happen.
So I purchased the Gear VR to finally get to experience VR (since I know it wont affect me in buying the Oculus CV1) and boy am I blown away, but one thing I am dying to experience is how the world of Skyrim with its beautiful nature and giant mountains would look in VR.
Is there any way for me to shoot/screen capture a 360 and/or 3D video of game play in skyrim and view it through the gear VR to have a bit of what that experience would be like?
Thanks all :good:
There is an android app for Google cardboard being worked on to let you stream pc games in vr format to the phone, it's not natively compatible with the gear vr yet, and there is latency issues or course. It shows promise though. Your question made me wonder a follow up questtion: can someone make a pc program that let's you take a 360 photosphere video or at least photo from a game like skyrim? Like fraps, but a photosphere. That would be fantastic.

That is exactly what I was asking for
I know about the latency and stuff, and I know about the app you mentioned... I just wanted to be able to experience it much like you would watching a gameplay on youtube... except its a 360 video
So I finally got my Note 7 and it's awesome so far.
One of the biggest feature they were showing was Mobile HDR games and videos.
Games with Vulkan input have HDR. BUT haven't found any.
Netflix and Amazon Prime said they're going to have available HDR movies and shows. BUT also haven't found any. ( Netflix shows HD and not even UHD. I do have the highest subscription plan. Amazon Prime only shows HD.)
Lastly I even downloaded some HDR 4K movie trailers and they don't work. (They do play, but colors are inaccurate because HDR isn't working.)
Any of you guys have successfully tried HDR?
Try some video listed here:http://www.phonearena.com/news/Where-and-how-to-watch-HDR-content-on-the-Note-7_id84205
Check out Mad Dogs through the Amazon video app

i've got this one from x-mas 2016 but i never play a game VR that use the joystick, only a few games, it's one of the best options to purchase and works very well with the Kinzie and the Addison, but I can't test the joystick, I wanna buy a ps3 controller for play games in both devices, but I can't found any game VR that use the joystick to run/walk/move/play(?) without sacrifice the movement with the gyroscope
You do this without root? On a dash2 phone?

That is just an app showing that the has the hardware.
What about something about the VR actually working. What about the build.prop. and the dash 1 vzw phone?

Ohff!..
Google Daydream app requires need to edit build prop.
VR only requires device with gyroscope sensor.
Buy this VR and you can try yourself.
Our device Screen resolution is 1920*1080 so it'll be just fine for VR.
Also, i have seen in sites and YouTube that we can get a good experience in VR from devices with 1920*1080.(And above will be fantastic)
Cheers!
I have the Asus Remote Camera app installed on my phone, but it doesn't appear on my Zenwatch 3 (which is running the latest stock firmware). Does anyone know if there's a way of getting this app to work on the Zenwatch, as I really miss the remote shutter feature.

The camera app that comes with the watch is no longer compatible it's too old.
If you want a excellent Remote Camera app for the watch here is the
playstore link for "Wear Camera":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ua.makeev.wearcamera&hl=en
This is the best one, it not only lets you see thru it's "virtual" viewfinder but it
also let's you take videos as well as snapshots and has many other features.
Good luck, have a great day!

Thanks for that. The app seems the work well on the Zenwatch. The only feature that it lacks compared to the Asus Remote Camera app, and it's quite a big one, is the ability to take a photo by turning your wrist. This is unbelievably useful if you're holding the phone with your arm outstretched (e.g. a selfie or an overhead shot), as in that situation you don't have a spare hand available to press the shutter on the watch! I've submitted it as a feature suggestion to the developer.
