When modifying a custom ROM on a rooted G1, how do I sign the final update.zip so recovery will flash it? (Using Amon-RA's latest)
You're looking for "testsign.jar". Search both here and in the themes forum; I forget where it's all explained best.

I got that by typing
sign update zip
in the search thingey
^Thanks! I did try a few forum searches but it never occurred to me to use update.zip as a keyword.

there was a tv show , here in the uk , oh I don't know years ago...
it was called catchphrase
little animated pics of 'mr chips' acting out a well known saying or phrase would , section by section become visible, and the contestants had to determine the said phrase etc..
Well, the host's ( Roy If remember correctly ) catchphrase was "say what you see"
bit like that with searches, only "type what you want"
Roy Walker !!
This should help too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3175518&postcount=2
just gonna ask, how do you know if it signed the zip, with out flashing the file lol... it just brought up the command prompt and closed it in like .25 seconds...
Code:
> jarsigner -verify -certs -verbose [I]update.zip[/I]
This may require the Java SDK; I don't really remember.
Look for 'sm' before the filenames:
Code:
PS C:\Users\patrick\Android> jarsigner -verify -certs -verbose Maps3.4.0.zip

Take it easy... after devs start to work on CM and other stuff, probably a solution will come out from somewhere.
Generaly its like Pandora's box, you never know what might "jump out".

People been trying and failing for a while now, though I think no one has tried dload method so far, if you're able to do that you might succeed, though my advise is just wait for official release or at least for when approved firms arrive [ those firms are not approved by Huawei yet ] also consider that most likely after a rom is approved it gonna officially rollout too.

They have uploaded others italy files before they were just 402371-2. Who knows if them are approved? I'm from phone
By the way I think I'm gonna try them with dload, surely doesn't gonna work
EDIT: I read now that they are rollback firms :crying:
I updated my BLA-L29 C432 to EMUI 10,but i had to use the older B158 base, because at least two bases from this OP failed (401881 and 403415), so clearly Huawei is not using unified bases on this device.
I have an unlocked device, so i used the no_check recovery to update, but i did tested Hisuite Proxy tool which of course failed, because the firmwares are unapproved.
Also, i can confirm that EMUI10 locks the bootloader and it cannot be unlocked even if you have the unlock code, so if anyone with unlocked bootloader wants to try, please keep that in mind.
After updating to EMUI 10, i checked if HiSuite (original) finds any firmware (normal update or rollback), but it doesn't.
Modifying the configuration file and attempting a recovery does find an approved 9.1.0.345 firmware, but it's not a rollback firmware, so i won't recommend installing that if you wanna go back to EMUI 9.1.
Probably i will play a bit with this EMUI10, then i will use test point to go back on EMUI 9.1 and test again other combinations. Test point is fun, though! xD

I think it's the default one from Hisuite Proxy Tool. Yes, you can't do anything without an unlocked bootloader.

So how do you feel about the emui 10, is it worth all the hype and the sleepless nights of waiting?

Nope! I can't say much about it, there's a new camera app and some UI related changes, but it still feels like EMUI xD.
But it's also true that i didn't spent much time on it. I do miss some of my Magisk modules and my custom kernel, though!
@Hayeni you can see the changes on youtube the update is out for months on chinese version
FAQ TIME
Where is "written" that a firmware is unapproved when trying to install it? I mean, it can't be just an online request, because it always fails on recovery, and I'm pretty sure that recovery doesn't use internet, so maybe in the firmware there's something to distinguish an approved one from an unapproved
Am I right? @Pretoriano80 what's your clue about that?

When a firmware it's approved, it gets a valid authorisation file when HiSuite makes the request for validation.
Then the authorisation file is pushed to the device, together with the firmware and the recovery will check that file before starting the installation process.
When using Hisuite Proxy Tool to install an unapproved firmware, it fails to get the authorization file, but for some strange reason (it's Huawei we are speaking about xD) Hisuite still goes ahead with an installation attempt, even if the authorization file is missing.

Now everything is clear! There are lots of modding minds, is possible that they still not have managed this authorization file? Maybe because is encrypted with RSA as @IProfessor said

Well cracking that would be hard, to say at least. And probably an open source project will also mean that Huawei can patch it very fast.
P. S : Have you tried to install a BLA-L29 C432 on your BLA-L09 with HiSuite Tool?

HiSuite found an approved firmware for me (b345) when i modified the configuration file and added BLA-L29 to it.
Probably you could try to flash that base, cust and preload with Hisuite proxy tool.
Idk know if it will successfully install or if it will rebrand your device if it will install successfully, but even if it does work, i doubt that it will unlock the second sim too.

Yep I know, and maybe there will be some problems of promiscuity I think. Are you so kind to find that firmware and post the link here please? I'll give a look later and think about that

These are the links for BLA-L29 C432 :

P..S. Those were found by original HiSuite, without using the proxy tool, but if you wanna try them, you will have to use the proxy tool.
And remember, there are no guarantees with this kind of stuff, you either take some risk or stay stock and wait for official OTA updates.

If you crack their singing algorithm they will have to release a patch for all of their past, present and future phones so their old signing method won't work for them, every single individual will have to download and install an update from them so his phone will be working on the new signature, at least I guess
though if you've realized there is no such authentication thingy when people use dload method right? maybe, that's why dload factory resets the data?
