Bluetooth not working at all, Help! - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

So 3 days ago woke up trying to link my phone to my sound system and noticed BT isn't working.
When I toggle it to ON it's not responding and switches back to OFF.
That happened a day after updating to the Oxygen OS 4.1.6.. don't know if it has anything to do with it.
Tried to force stop BT, clean cache and data.
Didn't work at all, already purchased my OP5 so I figured once I get it I'll factory reset the 3T to solve the issue, well today factory wiped it, still not working.
Downgraded the OS to 4.1.3, still! Not working, Im exhausted and I don't know what to do.. Help!

"Factory reset" is a bit of a misnomer. All it does is wipe data (and cache too, I assume) which you already tried. It won't magically restore a former OS version or otherwise touch anything in the system (as some folks seem to believe).

I would think the full zip update would fix it. Maybe try the 4.1.6 (or even 4.1.5) full zip?

I downloaded the 4.1.3 full zip from OnePlus.net, updated through Oxygen recovery, I'll try another version as you said, will let you know, thanks!

Clean Install?

Hi all,
I have a Z3C running the latest version of Android (for me), 5.0.2.
I've noticed the phone is running a bit more slowly lately (though not hugely) and I'm wondering if a clean install would be beneficial. I upgraded from KitKat to Lollipop without wiping the phone, I'm not sure if that would have any performance impact.
How can you do a clean install on Android? Is it as simple as reinstalling the software from Sony's PC Companion? I'm not sure if that is a true clean install or simply a reset to defaults.
Any tips would be appreciated!

Mostly 5.0.2 ROMs have bugs. You need to wait until Sony releases it's next version.
Clean install:
If your phone is rooted and have recovery install (cwm or twrp) you can do a clean install.
It is the process of wiping/deleting
system+data+android secure+cache+dalvic cache ( in short deleting everything) and flashing ROM.
As the data (junk) from the previous version remained after updating to newer android version, it gets cleaned and phone works well.
Hope you understand 'clean flash'

Thanks for the reply! A clean flash sounds like it would do what I want, but unfortunately my phone isn't rooted, and I don't particularly want to root it. Is there a way to clear everything out and reinstall without rooting?
I'm looking for something similiar to how you can restore iPhones.
Thanks!

You can try full factory resetting phone through stock recovery. To do so follow below steps;
1. Switch off your phone.
2. Switch it back on and the time when you see your phone’s LED notification light turn Pink! (or any other color) — start pressing either the Volume UP or Volume Down key a couple of times to make your phone boot into stock recovery mode
3. Once you’re in recovery mode. Use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and Power button to select an option in recovery.
4. Select wipe or factory reset (similar to this)
5. Reboot
Also after this process, open your file manager and delete 'Android' folder from both sdcard & ext sdcard (phone will start hanging) and restart.
(This process will delete app data, cache & their folders)
(A deep factory reset)
If still your phone behaves similar like previous, it's software issue, you need to wait for an update from Sony

Rooted or not, personally I do a full factory reset aka "wipe" aka format at least every 6 months. Just like a PC, apps you install and uninstall leave crap behind that clogs up the file system. Seems like there's always some Google bug every 6 months, too, and a wipe seems to resolve most of them. There's no harm in doing it. I do not let Google back up all my settings, b/c I prefer to manually set everything up after a wipe (esp since I may be wiping due to some setting anyway). I'm not sure, with the ridiculously powerful phones these days, if wiping will actually speed things up. For me it's more of a spring cleaning type of thing. Er, I guess more like an anal retentive geek type of thing

touch-screen freezes at lock screen

hi, my friend called me on a different fone to walk them thru the process of rooting/twrp'ing an h811 using this as a guide ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epcXXkMPRWk ).
and it booted up fine and the touchscreen worked. so i suggested they also try cyanogenmod (11.12.2015 nightly). they booted into twrp and did a backup then factory wipe and installed the cm-12.1...zip.
they booted into cyanogenmod and the touchscreen worked. but the t-mobile lte internet wasnt working so they wanted to go back.
good thing they created a backup first...
so they did a factory wipe then restored their image. when they rebooted the got a message process system not responding and the screen doesnt acknowledge any touch.
we tried going into twrp and doing wipe dalvik/cache ... we tried re-rooting using the steps outlined in the youtube video ... but the same problem persists.
after playing around with twrp and wiping random stuff the fone eventually allowed them to unlock the screen but there was no t-mobile service and after about a minute the screen stopped responding while they were scrolling thru the app-drawer.
i think as of now the only os where the touch-screen works is cyanogenmod; is it possible that cyanogenmod/twrp broke the touchscreen or lte modules in android ?
i thought they were two different os's that used different software/firmware ?
suggestions ?
thanks,
It's possibly a corrupt backup file. I would use TWRP to flash the stock ROM & see what happens.
i assumed re-rooting would clean everything since it uses the send-command program (essentially dd's the whole disk) but i guess not.
we also tried installing the rooted stock rom using twrp but still no joy.
Re-rooting doesn't do anything to the rom or drivers unless you're doing the easy root using a system img file. Then you're pretty much replacing your rom with one that has superuser already on it. That being said, did you upgrade to the 10n firmware/bootstack? The easy root is for 10h firmware/bootstack so that could be the source of your issues.

I relatively had the same problem where I flashed CM and did not like it because it was buggy and so I restored an nandroid and the once working nandroid was plagued with errors of the touchscreen not working, the phone would freeze, system crashes... It ended up being caused by the fact that I did not flash the 10N bootstack update before hand. After I flashed the new firmware and then flashed CM; all of CM's bugs disappeared. I haven't gone back to stock LG software since CM works flawlessly and is now my dailydriver so I cant say for sure if it will fix the stock rom but It probably will since it cleared up all my bugs like the camera not working, videos now playing...
btw to get data working in CM go to settings/mobile networks/Access point Names/ then scroll down and click "T-Mobile US LTE IPv6" and that should fix the internet issues you have since it fixed it for me.
they didnt do anything with the 10n bootstack (i dont know what that is).
maybe cyanogenmod automatically does the 10n thing (how to manually go back to 10h) ?
i assumed re-loading the 5 gb .img file would bring us back to square-1 but i guess not.
also, how to know what bootstack they are running. i told them to check about fone but they told me nothing in there mentions 10n or 10h.
About phone > Software Info > software version will will say h81110n if on 10n.
Same here on Stock...
I have this running stock H81110n software, which I flashed using a KDZ. However, it only freezes up occasionally, and turning the screen on and off once or twice always gets rid of the problem. It's not bad enough for me yet to warrant any factory resets or tweaking so far, but the problem is there...

[Q] Lost my Huawei Camera App

Hey folks,
NOTE: SOLVED, update below
On my VTR-L09 Single Sim, I flashed TWRP to edit /vendor/etc/hosts and then flashed recovery again. I went a wrong path there and had to flash the original recovery in order to do a factory reset & wipe. My /data-Partition was broken during the process, too, because I was accidentally wiped it
After the fresh wipe, I started the phone again and after it loaded, configured it (without restoring from my backup) and after a couple of seconds my camera app disappeared from the home screen. Dafuq? Since then, I tried to recover it a couple of times.
I am now hoping that the B126-Update brings my camera app back when it arrives via OTA, but until then:
Does anyone have an Idea where my camera app went, and how I can get it back?
Obviously, I checked under the disabled apps.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I am on VTR-L09C432B123
UPDATE: I worked out a way of re-flashing an official update without funkyhuawei, check out https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/development/dev-introducing-redlotus-source-huawei-t3601493
Did you try to install another camera app to see if the camera turn on? it's possible that the data folder of camera to be erased.

Have you tried the HiSuite system restore option. I never used it. But if it works like the restore option from Samsung and Sony. You should restart your phone in recovery mode and the original firmware will be flashed?
Hey
thanks for your answers.
The hisuite does not support my model yet (argh).
OpenCamera works fine, whatsapp's camera feature as well....
The Gallery App is still there, by the way.
I'm having the same issue too after an unsuccessful root which required me to factory reset my P10. After factory rest the stock camera app is missing..
Could someone upload their stock camera backup file? It would be much appreciated.
I attached the HwCamera2 folder with apk, lib and oat folder from /system/priv-app.
I'm on VTR-L29C432B123.

Thanks for the file. May I know how do I get it installed?
I navigated through the same directory and found the same files as yours. I tried installing the apk file from both my own and yours but it says it is corrupted.
Thanks, @Jannomag. I have found that most other Huawei-Apps in that priv-app folder are also missing (except I am not entirely sad about many of those). I'll keep digging a bit.
*Update* I just found in my /etc/whitelistedapps.xml points to /vendor/etc/whitelistedapps.xml, which in turn does not exist.
could somebody with a working Camera app please check whether that file /vendor/etc/whitelistedapps.xml exists, and what is written in there?
This is just a straw I am holding on to, not a real trace or hint, though.

Hy Lukx, i have exactly the same problem. Wanted to root my phone, but I couldnt see the zip file in twrp, so i wiped whole data and did formatting the whole phone. after reboot my camera app was gone, also the themes were disappeared. I tried installing the firmware for my huawei (from a russian site but I dont know if its the right firmware) but it stopped at 5%.
My Phones Build Number is: VTR-L09C432B113
Thanks

Funny thing... I am suspecting that some version mismatch of the recovery or boot partition during the Wipe might be the cause, although I do not have any proof of that.
I am currently trying to write a free alternative to funkyhuawei, so we can flash the full firmware easily again. I think i won't be done with that before mid next week, though...
I am using the OpenCamera app in the meantime.

I didn't say that
But as FH reflashes your phone fully, it should do a full recovery. If you feel like investing money into that, why not try? Otherwise, I recommend you wait along with me for another week and see how far I get with my approach, which I promise to release for free...

I never really use the theme feature, as I have found "my" favorite theme initially and it's now in the Huawei Backup I carry around through reflashes (highly recommended, it stores on SD card). But the "Designs" app seems to show me a couple of designs, yes. I don't want to try downloading them right now, though.

Dont get so easily disappointed. First of all if you bought it from a shop you have guarantee so you can bring it back to the shop.
If there is a factory fault they will fix it or replace it.
Second write down which model you have (example T 1055) which operating system you have on it (Android 8 or 9) and which updates are on it.
Can be with the next update you do, your issues will be fixed.
And in the end try a factory reset and cache wipe. Could be some app you installed causing all this.
Good luck

No, just removes temorary cache files, you wont notice a thing. But it is strongly recommended you do a factory reset after updating to A9, which will cause you to lose your data. Take a backup of your contacts and do a fresh install, this may solve your problems.

Lineage OS 16 Shamu (Nexus 6)

Someone is testing LOS 16 on yours Shamu Phone? 15.1 Nightly is a stable build, is it 16 Nightly Build the same?
How should people know this? Lineage-16.0 is out since a few hours.
but since we have this https://github.com/LineageOS/charter/blob/master/device-support-requirements.md you can be shure of a certain quality
Any guidance on moving from 15.1 to 16.0? I assume a clean install is probably a good idea?
Thanks!

First build isn't working properly for me. After flashing it gives me the "Decryption unsuccessful" message. Don't have encryption enabled, and my phone is formatted to ext4. Tried wiping multiple times in different ways. Had been running LOS 15.1 for months with no problems. Clean flash.
Update: Just to see, reinstalled LOS 15 and encrypted my device. Decryption still fails after flashing LOS 16 and trying to boot.

I was thinking about flashing back to the last official google release (N6F27M), and then up to 16.0, but was going to wait to see if there was any official recommendation. Kind of a nuke the "site" from orbit approach - "it's the only way to be sure..."

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that, but just didn't feel like it, and can't imagine how it'd help. Probably just wait a week (probably more) or so for the builds to settle down. They're always pretty unstable at first anyway.

Did you follow the instructions on the LOS site? I upgraded from LOS 15.1 to LOS 16 without issues. I wasn't encrypted on LOS 15.1 and still won't because right now that is a headache with TWRP being unable to decrypt.

I don't see anything that isn't normal in the instructions. Wipe, flash, done. And also don't know what you mean about TWRP being unable to decrypt. Newest TWRP (been for like 2 years) 3.2.3-0 works fine for me. That's interesting that it works for you though. No clue what's causing my problem.
Also when you say upgrade, do you mean you flashed 16 on top of 15.1? I did a clean flash, wiping everything.
The March 2 build is now booting for me. Noticed some changes to cryptfs in the logs, and sure enough. Now that it's booting, everything actually seems pretty stable.
I also got the "Decryption unsuccessful" on first boot of an upgrade from lineage 15.1
I was eventually able to boot, but had to do a bunch of random button pushing, and ended up nukeing the phone, but eventually got it to boot... But it has several other issues...
I did an "Advanced Wipe" in TWRP, and turned on every checkbox... Cleared every partition... Then did TWRP sideload of:
lineage-16.0-20190302-nightly-shamu-signed.zip
open_gapps-arm-9.0-nano-20190302.zip
Magisk-v18.1.zip
And it still asked for password on first boot... No way to put away the password entry keyboard BTW, preventing you from getting to the "Emergency Call" button... No 911 for you :'(
So I read somewhere that doing a "Format Data" under the TWRP wipe might help...
So I rebooted, did the above steps again, then tried "Format Data" before leaving TWRP... This failed to mount, and so no format... For some reason, I think on my phone I have TWRP on 2 partitions maybe? For some reason, rebooting from inside TWRP to "Recovery" (so yah, load recovery, then reboot directly to recovery) appeared to fix this unable to mount issue...
So now, I again wiped all paritions, sideloaded everything, got the "Format Data" to mount and work, then rebooted...
This booted and presented the initial setup (YAY!!) Went through that, and attempted to do a Google restore of the phone during setup... This looked like it worked, but NOTHING would download (Everything said it was trying to install, but nothing would...)
I am not super knowledgeable about this stuff, but one of my guess-timations of the issue was that it was a storage permission issue... Rebooted to TWRP again, and under Advanced I found something called "Fix Contents" that claimed it would attempt to repair the SELINUX model or something, which sounded permission issue related to me, so I tried that one...
And it booted, and things installed from Google Play (Double YAY!!)
I attempted to setup multiple users, and logging in a second user apparently seems to kill the Software Home Buttons for all users, and only rebooting brings them back for the primary user, and they disappear again when booting a secondary user... Other than this so far it is very fast, really quick, and looks like it has alot of potential as soon as they work out the kinks
P.S. Now I just wish they would un-discontinue Lineage support for the LG V20... Long live Removable Batteries paired with SDCard slot and IR-Blaster for the win!
Is there a way too root yet
I installed the "stock" version of Gapps that came with the pixel launcher. I can only use the Trebuchet launcher because the Pixel Launcher only crashes. Should I have installed a different Gapps version if it is unsupported? Or is this just a bug? Also, the Android Setup wizard keeps crashing when it is checking for an update at the beginning. It will not complete. Other than those issues, everything else seems to be working fine so far.

I am also seeing this problem, as are several others: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/pixel-launcher-issue-lineage-16-nexus-6-t3906748
I am also facing the problem of the crash of pixel launcher. Does anybody know whether there is a recovery could decrypt the data of Android Pie?

Do you have a backup of your data? If you do, don't bother trying to decrypt it. Just wipe format your phone and start fresh.
wipe is not enough, must format encrypted partition
Just wanted to clarify that wiping is not sufficient to remove the encrypted partition. it must be formatted from the advanced wipe settings in TWRP.

Yes. Sorry. I am aware of this, but used the incorrect terminology. Format was indeed what I had intended to say.

Usually, a reboot fixes the camera. It seems that on some boots it works and on some it doesn't.
