Hello,
i wasn't that active here then i was in the old desire forum. So how would i root my device?? It is still s-on with everything stock. I found the WinDroid Toolkit. Can it make my Phone S-off?? Is there maybe a step by step tutorial??
After i rooted my phone and the recovery is on it, what rom is the stables with android 6 or later?? I don't care about cyanogen or htc branding. For me it can be stock android, but i want android 6 or later with everything working. Camera, wifi, lte,...

the best you'll get is cm13 but be warn, i tested and became laggy with time, but everything works.
don't need s-OFF just unlock bootloader
and you cant just install any ROM and hope for the best. Has to be HTC or compatible ROM. Thats why some people devoted their time to port the ROMs.
i can unlock the bootloader without s-off??

yes.
just follow htc tutorial...its easy.
https://www.htcdev.com/
I just started unlocking and i stock at the fastboot thing. It said some adbWinAPI thing is missing. I remembered that i worked with adb once before when installing new ROMs to my HTC Desire and i ported my own ROM as well and needed adb.
So i still had adb on my harddrive and with that fastboot and adb tools i could run the fastboot command. But now it says waiting for device although it is connected and the Windows Device manager found it and displays it as Android USB Device My HTC without any warnings or errors. I installed the Sync Manager as well.
Any ideas why my device is not detected?? It is in the Fastboot USB mod like the tutorial said (i have HBoot RAMDUMP, Reboot, Reboot Fastboot, Power Down option in that Fastboot mod)
==EDIT==
forget it i just forgot to activate usb debugging
CM14.1 is up and running, working superb for most of the devices, some devices have reported camera issues and network, but nothing major.

I have Incredible S with broken usb, just charging, not connect to pc. It have android version 2.3.5, hboot 2.00, locked bootloader, s-on, non-rooted. I tried several things from this forum but non worked. Tried with visionary+ to gain temproot but seems to not work with this version of software. Any suggestions what to do, first to un-brick usb (with mtd0.img solution)? Thanks.
Did you phone still in the warranty? Go to Service centre and fix it.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
No warranty, unfortunately.
Does the phone respond to any fastboot commands?
Edit: First step would be factory reset, done this? P.S. don't use visionary for temproot.
Not responding to any fastboot command (waiting for device). I have done full factory reset, and manage to re-flash with stock PG32IMG.zip from sd card, no luck. Everything work except usb, so i can't root/s-off with any method without working usb. I found THIS but in Terminal Emulator i have error "access denied". I tried that was described on first page but don't understand some parts, like:
"Becaue I couldn't find a free telnet solution I purchased the QuickSSHd from Android Market. This allowed me to have write access to /data/data/<package_name>/home where I created a world readable (755) directory. I scp'd the rageagaintthecage, modified misc partition image and flash_image binary to the phones filesystem, and made them executable."
Can anyone explain to me what to do? Thanks.
I don't know stock Rom will do the network adb. If yes, you may root the device.

No, i tried couple of network adb programs, but all requests root.
When you're in hboot fastboot mode, does the screen say fastboot USB?
PHP:
Have you tried another USB cable and/or port?
No, there is no fastboot usb screen, just fastboot, when connect to pc in hboot fastboot mode nothing change. I tried several different cables/ports/pc-s, always the same.
Is there any way to gain temproot, with some apk directly on the phone, like visionary+ or gingerbreak, just to work with this version of software?

I used method on HtcDev.com to unlock bootloader, then root, but stay on S-on because there is only method with downgrade bootloader and i don't want to do that. When you unlock bootloader you can flash custom roms, i followed this step-by-step instruction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
Good luck!
Thanks, I'll try for sure..

So I initially unlocked bootloader and was going to flash recovery and a custom Rom, but I thought I read I have to relock then use the AT&T update to ICS and then unlock again. So I am at the point where I need to unlock the bootloader and it never seems to complete. I have left the command running for over 10 minutes but it doesn't finish. It did this before I upgraded to ICS but eventually did go through. This time it just doesn't seem to work. I have been booting into hboot, then switching to fastboot, the running the command to unlock,, but it just sits at that point. Anyone have any suggestions besides using the guide or the supertool. I have tried the guide and the supertool but neither is working now.
Oh yeah, this is on my new Vivid I just got. I'm not quite a noob as I have rooted my other phones.
Retry on the HTC dev site ....it might help u
Thanks, I tried again today and for some reason it went through smooth. Wonder if it has something to do with the USB port on one computer vs on my laptop. Weird, but I got it unlocked, rooted and loaded the Virtuous Inquisition ROM.
Thanks for the help.
so heres what happen
download Andriod revolution for the sprint htc one
it reloaded and went to the bootloader screen I didn't know what happened so I reboot the phone from the bootloader
it went back the bootloader and then without thinking I used the ruu and it relocked the bootloader and didn't even restore the phone so
now I'm stuck with a phone that's stuck on the bootloader screen with it locked and no usb debugging or recovery
is there a way to unlock the bootloader still or atleast enable usb debugging from cmd ? I still have the unlock.bin from the last time I unlocked the bootloader
any idea no phone for me until then

The problem was that there is no android revolution for the HTC one. You flashed an international Rom on the sprint variant and so it messed the phone up. You can still unlock the bootloader through the HTC website as before. Check the General section for the guides and the Q&A section to post your problems.
Also, check which RUU you used. Was it from the Sprint HTC one board or the general HTC one board?
I forget that typing in HTC one on the search brings general htc one forum anyway ...
I know how to unlock the bootloader but usb debugging isnt enabled and I don't have an os to enable it
Even tried the all in one to push the bootloader unlock and it just stays saying waiting for device

in the bootloader it uses fastboot actually so if you have those drivers from the unlock till you will be able to do the steps htc asks
I'm going to try in right now let me see what happens

Yeah so like the others said use fastboot to re unlock the bootloader, and by the way if you dont have s-off it will be harder to restore it, but if its the case, I would recommend just flashing a recovery and then pushing a rom and flash that. Hope that helps
Oh and always remember as long as you can access fastboot from the bootloader there is always a way to fix a software issue (for the most part)
I still have S-OFF and just tried the command "fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin"
Its been saying waiting for device for the last 10 mins .

UPDATE:Forgot i already tired this since i have the RUU on my desktop. Device Failed Enumeration is my biggest issue one post says he fixed the issue but doesn't state how. The Error shows up with any htc in fastboot i tried deleting htc sync and all its addons from Add/Remove and it didnt help.So currently only think standing in the way of restoring the unlocked bootloader is the fact windows 8.1 keeps blocking the connection and Ubuntu doesnt either work with rooting for me or just because i dont know how to use it :cyclops:
Hello everyone,
I bought an HTC one off ebay, having in mind I would flash custom rom on the device which I prefer for obvious reasons. But each time I open Hasson2000 Tool to get ID token I get this error in command prompt below:
*daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
*daemon started successfully *
'error: device offline
I have tried searching for solutions but I cant get one to actually fix my own issue, I do know the HTC bootloader has been unlocked and rooted because I can boot to bootloader menu, boot to recovery mode and on top on the screen it says *****TAMPERED***** just below it says ***UNLOCKED*** I figured the previous owner tried locking bootloader before selling it off.
I noticed other commands dont work like reboot device on the tool probably because of that error or my htc is not recognised am not sure. am running Windows 8.1 Pro on my laptop.
What I have done so far
Rebooted phone several times
Rebooted my laptop several times
Unplugged and plugged in usb cable
Used different usb ports it recognises my htc because I can view my SD card or transfer files between laptop and phone.
Please guys I neeed your help with this, thanks.

Depending on the carrier the device was made for and the one you use, OTA updates may not be an option. If it is a carrier device then updates will be pushed OTA from the OG carrier. IF you use a different carrier then you wont get OTA. And to be honest they are over rated and cause more issues then anything else.

What about using the command prompt instead of a toolkit? No disrespect to Hasson2000, but toolkits aren't ideal imo
In most cases, ''device offline'' is caused by an outdated version of the android sdk or a bad usb cable/usb port (btw use usb 2.0 ports).
Also in windows devices manager, your phone must be listed as Android usb device ---> My HTC. If not, you have drivers issue.
If your phone still boot normally, just copy the rom inside the sdcard, reboot in recovery and install it. I will highly suggest you make sure adb and fastboot works correctly before as they will be required if something goes wrong when installing the custom rom. Also make a nandroid backup of your current config before flashing the rom and make a copy of that backup on your computer.

Hello there, I posted a while ago because I wasn't able to update my HTC One nor connecting it to usb in any way.
Finally, now I was able to update it over OTA (wifi) and... well it still won't connect to USB.
Right now the phone is sitting at :
Android 5.0.2 Sense 6.0 software 7.19.771.21 and it's a HTC one 3
Strangely enough it's not sim locked cause I tried a vodafone sim earlier and it worked.
So, the main change here is that I was able to boot it into recovery mode but I wouldn't know what to do there.
Any advices on how to proceed to unlock bootloader, s-off and all that wonderfull stuff?
I reiterate that the phone WON'T connect in usb mode, not even in fastboot, looks like.
Thank you very much in advance

Fix your usb port first. You must at least be able to use fastboot commands when in bootloader which requires usb connection.
