Question about HTC One M7 and Nougut - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am newbie who want to reinstall Android on my HTC One M7, my actually version is 5.0.2. Why I want to do it? Because my phone can lagging and it don't have warranty anymore, I just want to make it working faster and looking better. This is what I want to install is Android 7.X (Nougat).
This is why I have a few questions to you:
1. What is a risk when I am doing reinstall of my OS? If I am using some image from web should I be aware of viruses?
2. If I install 6.X or 7.X android version on my M7, is it gonna work better or at least stable just like lolipop did?
3. The last, the most important question for me, how can I do it? I am not sure which tutorial could help me to make that reinstalation.
I would be really thankful for your time.

1. The only risk is that there will be some instability depending on the ROM that you use. This of course varies. Every ROM is virus fee, so don't worry about that!
2. Like I said above, Stability varies on the ROM and how often it gets updated and tackles on bugs. You'll get the main features (+ even more) on the Marshmallow or Lolipop ROM that you pick.
3. There's a lot of process that goes to it. You need an unlocked Bootloader, TWRP, and other things. I recommend starting off here:

Thanks for answer! When I did it and my bootloader is unlocked now, what's next step? I am not really sure which OS I want to use... I just want to have clean, safe and stable OS in my phone... Do you think Marshmallow or Nougat gonna be fine?
Somebodys here could tell me which OS you are using on your HTC One M7? And if is it good or not?

My phone is S-Off, the TWRP is update, Bootloader unlocked and i want install a very simple and easy ROM, i saw this one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/development/rom-resurrection-remix-n-v5-8-0-t3509485
What do you thing about "Resurrection Remix" vs "AICP 12.1"..?
What other things I have to take a look before install any ROM..? (i mean, go from OS 4.4.3 to OS 7.1, I miss something..?)
How I make a backup the actuall ROM just in case..?
Note: I never install any ROM, the actuall ROM was installed by a friend
Thank you for your comments

Help with stock I ics

If anyone could help that would be great. I rooted and unlocked my phone about 4 months ago so I could get cool droid a custom ics Rom. Then when I found out that the official Rom had come out for my device I decided to get that as I was having trouble with my battery life. So I restored a backup and downloaded the update. When I installed it boots into 4ext and trys to install but comes up with random code and says error in the location of update.
I am running unlocked bootloader, s-on and rooted
Please help

Gonna need to be more specific than "random code and errors" lol. What error does 4ext say when you try to install the ROM?
Also are you restoring a backup, and then trying to install the ROM? If so, don't. Do a full wipe/factory reset and format all partitions (except SD card) in 4ext before installing the ROM.
If you're trying to update via official HTC ota with a custom recovery and unlocked/s off bootloader, you can't. That's why its failing. I would suggest trying a custom Rom based on the official update

Even if you are HTCdev unlocked, because your recovery is not stock and you have unlocked your bootloader, you can't install the update. That's why its failing.
So either re lock it and return to stock to install the ota, or download a custom rom based on the update which will give you a stock experience.

Mark was right, you can't install official updates with an unlocked bootloader. If your looking for a stock experience I suggest flashing this ROM. It's Android revolution HD and it's based off the stock HTC ICS update but optimized for better performance. You'll also have to manually flash the boot.img since your S-ON. Follow the tutorial in this thread to learn how to flash the boot.img with fastboot.

No, as of the latest update 1.5, the rom does not need blackrose anymore.
Just flash the rom and flash your boot.img and you're good to go
Please correct me if I'm wrong though, I am just assuming because of the changelog

The ROM should work with revolutionary HBOOT now. Still waiting on confirmation for that though, but there's no risk to your phone the worst that could happen is the ROM won't boot.

Quattro is nearly a year old, its waaay outdated by newer roms.
If you want ICS AOSP then try Ice Cold Sandwich or Playground ICS
Or even try Codename Android which is Jellybean

A Good KitKat (4.4) Rom for XSP ???

I've been using CM12 Sabermod for a few months now but lately my phone has started to lag a lot, I've experience the same problems with other Lollipop based ROMs too. I never had this problem in 4.3 but I had to move to 5.1 since some apps that I use daily required KitKat or higher.
So my question is - is there any good KitKat ROM for XSP? If yes, how can I get the best performance for multitasking?
Before change to KK, I should ask: Do you already flash the most recent build?
Another is: Have yout try move apps to SD card?
Another one: Try to clean Cache on the Settings -> Storage (and then Reboot)?
And Clean cache of some apps too manually.
Remembering that to flash a the most recent build, you doesnt need to Backup, BUT... Just for convenience do it.
If none of those above options function well for you, indeed there is a stable and fast KK to our lovely (and hated) SP.
Options I recommend: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64991746&postcount=1320
Or
Last release from CM Team
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=huashan&type=snapshot
Both are great in performance and multitask like the JB 4.3 Stock.
Is there a good one which has Stock features? As in it has the basic Sony apps. They were quite nifty.

I havent tried CM13 but cm12.1 never worked out for me properly, either low amount of ram/no deep sleep or other problems such as wifi.

Hi, a clean wipe should be enough. I did factory reset / wipe data, format system, cache and data, wipe dalvik, then install in that order:
OmniX-Rom, recommended gapps, SU-update. Please confirm to fix super user when asked, then reboot into system. First boot will take some minutes (less than 5).
Which recovery do you recommend I flash for this?

I would try that rom if the led bar was working exactly as it does in the stock firmwares (you know, receiving phone calls, viewing images, making a call etc.). There isn't a way to duplicate that functionality level since it's cyanogenmod-based, right?

HTC One M7: Which OS is the best and how to install it step by step?

Hi,
could you tell me which android is the best right now for Htc One M7? I have that damm lolipop 5.0.2. I don't want to see there any additional softwares and other upgrades.
When I am asking about the best android I have on mind:
- the most compatible version of android for HTC One M7
- the most clean, without any additions
- the most safe, where I have sure that devs won't spy on me and I gonna can use it even with bank transactions
My last question when we find out which android gonna be the best for my situation is: How to install it and what to do step by step?
Please help me guys, I seriously want to change that lolipop but I don't reall know how to start and which android gonna be the best (it can be even official version if it is possible somehow).
Edit: Have I to take out SIM card when I gonna reinstall my OS?
What kind of style do you want? Highly customizable? HTC Sense or stock Android? Nougat or Marshmallow? Note that it's best to have S-OFF if you install nougat roms. I have S-ON w/ nougat the experience is not that great.
First go to HTCDev to unlock your bootloader. It's an official website created by HTC itself so no worries. [emoji6]

I unlocked that earlier. That was easy step, so S-OFF is here. I don't really know if Marshmallow is better for me or Nougat, I suppose the higher version then better, so maybe Nougat? It can be even Marshmallow if it gonna work better and more compatibile.

I've been using Stock ROM for all this time (ever now) and I've not once never felt like my security was at risk. If you don't visit shady websites or install shady packages (like myself) I don't see why you would ever have to worry about such things. Also custom ROMs are never going to be as stable as Stock, that's just a fact at this point.

Also custom ROMs are never going to be as stable as Stock, that's just a fact at this point.

Stock LP rooted? Debloated? With Xposed? I am thinking of going back to stock too.

Personally if I had to use a ROM other than Stock LP, it would be Radium Redefined (which is based on stock lollipop 5.0.2 ROM)

Hey. I downloaded RaR 1.2 and tried flashing it through twrp but got error 7 assert failed Mount ext4 emmc something. I don't remember. Then I removed those assert lines and flashed again and is was successful. But when I flashed gapps it gave me error 20 saying the gapps are for 5.0 and your ROM's android is 5.0.x. So I proceeded without gapps but the ROM was not booting. Just stuck on boot animation. I waited almost half hour. Please help me.

Since I am running Havoc on my mobile I flashed it right away on my mi pad the moment I got it. Now the rom is running for three days without any bugs and very smooth so far. Thanks :good:
Rom is still running smooth. Got an update notification today. Any changelog available?
Thanks for supporting this device.
I just a bit surprised that so little is going on here within the mi pad forum. ?
Best ROM for mi pad 4 plus?

Hi, I'm really interested in purchasing this tablet (I am a big fan of redmi phones). I was a bit reluctant with the lack of a true global ROM being available and there was nothing on xda last time I checked. But it appears someone has been quite busy developing for this. Have you only tried the havoc ROM? Is everything still running OK for you? If so, I'm thinking I will make the purchase. Any other feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

In the beginning I had the global Rom running which also was smooth, but since I am using Havoc on all my other devices I switched also on my Mi Pad. The rom runs stable. Had no problems, random reboots or other stuff like that. Rom runs fast and I hope the community for the device will grow, because the device has an awesome price performance ratio!:good:
Awesome! Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response. I think I will be purchasing soon, just waiting for a deal on the 128gb version. I can get the 64gb for a decent price atm, so very tempted to grab that instead.
I recently got the redmi note 6 Pro, I have only unlocked bootloader not long ago. Couldn't decide on which ROM to try first, but I have had a couple people recommend the havoc ROM, so I think I will go with that. Then I can have the same on the tablet when I get it.
I really hope to see a bigger community for this tablet too. Thanks again.

Is there anything special to consider for updating?
Is dirty flashing the rom possible?

Yes you can do (dirty flashing) with no problems.
Hi, as this is my first time flashing anything, I want to be sure I am doing everything right. I have Mi Pad 4 Plus, already unlocked. To use adb and fastboot I need dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip right? Then to flash recovery, I rename the file from your link and do: fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img -> fastboot.exe boot recovery.img. Should I also flash new firmware osdn.net/projects/xiaomifirmwareupdater/storage/Stable/V10/clover/? Should I do it like normal ROM flashing using recovery? I was thinking of using Mokee or HavocOS, in case I would prefer to stay with Mokee, your instructions are good, I just do not flash Havoc over Mokee? I am still not decided which one I should install. Also in future if a new version of ROM comes out ,as my partition would be already changed, I would not need to repeat these steps? Also do ''forceencrypt on /data'' means that I should 'encrypt device using screen lock password' in Android OS? I am not quire sure I understand this step. Also where do I exactly 'Settings General= Use rm -rf instead of formatting'? Browsing though old root/flash tutorials I noticed some of them mention tools like: no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip/Universal DM-Verity and ForceEncrypt Disabler/Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt. Are they still needed in any case? I want to flash open gapps and magisk root. Sorry if it seems stupid, I just could not find anything step by step that is actual, some older guides recommend supersu and as I understand it is a thing of a past now.
