Whenever I plug my phone into my computer and wiggle it around a bit it disconnects. It's a brand new cable too. I'm assuming I need to have my charging port replaced?
Never assume. Check to see if it happens with a different cable first. If it repeats with the second cable, then take the phone in for servicing.
It would not be worth to replace the charging port. It is time to get a new phone, isn't it?
It would be far less expensive to replace the port than to replace the device. Besides, without actually taking apart the N6, we don't exactly know what's going on. The connector could truly be damaged, or it could be a simple issue of the connector losing connection with the motherboard due to a bad solder joing; something that some skill with a soldering iron could resolve.

Indeed, it is that time. The only phones that meet my needs (fast wireless charging, USB 3.1, Bluetooth 5.0, microSD, etc) are the s8s so I'm going to wait for the Note 8. The Essential PH-1 is also on the radar but I really don't want to go any smaller than a 6" display.

Have you tried to remove any lint with a toothpick or similar tool? Doesn't cost anything to try a thorough cleaning before anything else...
You could also use a magnetic micro USB adapter, people say they fit very tight in the plug

I'm pretty sure the port was just dirty. I blew in it (like the old Nintendo games) and now it stays connected while wiggling the cable around rather forcefully.

I haven't had this problem till recently, maybe the last two days at most, anyway, the phone isn't charging when I plug it in. Before you ask, yes, the door is completely open, that isn't the problem. I plug it in and it doesn't notice its there, if I wiggle the charger around a bit it'll start to charge, if I push is slightly outward (towards the screen) it has no problems, it just feels extremely loose...
Of all the samsungs I've ever owned the charging port breaking has always been the biggest problem, I was afraid that was what happened to mine but since it works fine if I move the charger im thinking that isn't the problem.
Just curious if anyone else has had this problem, I can live with it for three weeks till I upgrade and get back to HTC, but its just plain annoying!
My charger port is a bit hollow as well. The charger will come out very easily, but it's been long since this started happening.
The usb cable they sent out with this phone is garbage. Swap it for any other and you will more then likely get a perfect fit.
I'll be sure to try that tonight, I have a spare blackberry usb in my bag. Last time I tried using another cable I kinda had to force it in the port since it didn't want to fit, it seemd like it was because it was catching on the battery door so I swapped back for the oem cable since it is shaped Correctly.

This happened with my laptop wayyyy to many times, the type of charger in the phone is the male on the phone and female on the cord, same is my laptop, i noticed that immediately and i am ALWAYS careful with the cord with my laptop and phone, i went through at least 3 cords before i got the right one, look at more forms and NEVER get the cheap cord. Because then it'll be three cheap cords but one good cord is less expensive
Hey! I have the same problem..
I'm just buying a new charger.seems to be the only solution

Search Amazon for "blackberry usb cable micro usb". The first result should be it, it's a very high quality, shielded cable. To get a solid, snug fit I suggest a razor or a knife to easily cut back some of the rubber around the micro tip. Works amazingly well. I could even make it work before I trimmed it.
I have this same exact problem, but its the other way around - the cable that I received with the phone seems to "click" into place and doesn't come out of the charger port readily.
I bought some shorter cables to use with the wall charger from monoprice.com and they just fall right out, and I don't know what the issue is.
The "official" charger I spent $30 from AT&T for my car, however, also clicks into place and seems very secure.
I guess it just depends on the cable you buy.
My Samsung OEM cable is junk now as well. It has no problem making contact, but it doesn't fit snugly anymore and will slide out with minimum provocation.
I have three Monoprice.com cables that fit great, especially the 28 awg without ferrites. That is, until I dropped the phone on the plug and damaged it. Oh well, better the cable than the Captivate. I also have two cables from Meritline that fit nicely, as does the charger cable for my Bluetooth headset.
It's really just the Samsung cable that's junk. I always recommend Monoprice cables as they are high quality and very inexpensive. Keep in mind, however, that they don't sell a micro USB cable that does not require modification to fit the Captivate's beveled socket.

I have another microUSB cable but it slips out sometimes, and doesn't charge the Nexus 7 unless you hold it at certain angles. If anyone can point me in the direction of getting a replacement ASUS micro USB cable like the one that comes with the Nexus 7, or even one that people have found is a snug fit with their devices, and isn't prone to falling out, please let me know. Thanks for the help.
You don't say where you are but if you can find something like this you should be fine. http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Degre...26&sr=8-3&keywords=micro+usb+lead+right+angle
Good length and the right angle plug make it less likely to catch on things.
Troute,
Do you use this with your Nexus 7? Because I've heard that some microUSB cables' pins on the connector aren't long enough to reach into the Nexus 7's and that's why the microUSB cable I'm using now is so flimsy. Do you know anything about that?
Theoretically It must work, because the OTG cable we are using is micro USB B to USB female.
I think some people must got their cable from a bad store that cause the defect you're talking about
I use whatever lead is handy and have had no problems but I avoid buying cheap chinese ones. Problems can be caused by a combination of badly made/loose plug and a loose socket
Just noticed that the default mirco USB charging cable dose not go all the way into the phone and now half way out when before it used to snap all the way in. Anyone else has a similar problem.?
That happened to me with phones before. It was caused by some pocket lint in the charging port. Hope that helps

My sockets are completely clean tho. Like half the sliver on charging end sitcks out lol T-Mobile sending me a new one and refunded me everything including shipping and the return shipping for this one. Thanks for the little info. I just ordered a qi wireless charging going to start using that instead even if it take an extra hour to charge

Well at least I'm not the only one with this problem! First 2 charges the cable fit nice and perceft \ sung as in flush with the phone and couldn't wiggle it at all now all of a sudden the dang thing won't go in all the way.
I've noticed that it's difficult to plug in my Micro USB cable that came with my N6; I feel like I might break the plug and/or the port (or both!).
If I try using my old Samsung charger's microUSB, it won't go in at all -- well, I guess it could if I really forced it, but I'm not gonna. I found that my generic Amzer retractable microUSB seems to plug in the easiest
Are you having the same issue with other brands of micro USBs?
A friends of mine micro usb cable plugs into the charging port all the way without any of the silver part of the micro usb plug showing. I got my Nexus 6 yesterday and the micro usb plugs in and charges the device, but it does not go in all the way like on my friends Nexus 6. There's about a 1/4 of the silver part of the micro usb plug showing. All in all it does what it's suppose to do which is charge the device, but I wonder if this is normal?
Anybody have more information? Mine just started having this issue and it's been rooted so I know the warranty is void.
Unroot and get an RMA.

There are tiny prongs in the micro USB end of the cable that hole the cable in. All cables I have the prongs flatten out and the cable falls out. I just buy cheap cables from Monoprice and throw them away when that happens.
Do you have that to? It's a tiny tiny bit loose all four directions. Original cable. No problem with the connection. Its snug when inserting and pulling out.
Checked with my Samsung S5. It has more play, so I guess it's ok.
That's by design.
As long as the connection is good, there's nothing to worry.
Thank you! That's relaxing to know.
Remember the standard USB plugs, and when you try to plug them in, they get caught on the housing, but you think you put them the wrong way and rotate them, just to notice they're actually the wrong direction now?
That's to prevent that.

Yes, all too good. Why the S5 wireless charging is great! Wireless charging doesn't matter very much with the XZ1C because of the USB-C.
Have ordered Wsken magnetic cables to be on the safe side. The USB on my Acro S went broke a long time ago.
I had a magnetic cable, but it stuck out too much for my taste.
Tried to modify it so that it goes in further, but destroyed it in the process.
I'd love to have a flat one, tho.
Was is Wsken? It has great reviews on Amazon. Cannot order from Amazon. Doesn't ship to my country, so I ordered from Ebay.
Flat magnetic cable? Got to check that.

I have this problem too. But it is with stock cable and i clean that and problem solved but for a short time.please if anybody know the Solution share that with us
well if using a better cable dosen't work then might be the port it self. also make sure that if you have a case, that it is not pushing against the cable or stopping it from going all the way through.( i hope the 1 st attempts to troubleshoot was to also change chargers.....)
the suggestion to clean port might also be valid. take the smallest needle you can find and clean/scrape the bottom of the port on each side of the connector in the phone. youd be surprised how much pocket lint get compacted if you have a habit if keeping phone in a pocket .
instead of a needle some use a wooden coffee stir stick and cuts it to a pointy dagger like edge. use it to scrape till no more dirt comes out.
Shoot I have the same problem! It isn't that frequent but it only happens on BLACK chargers in the house. I have 2 black one white charger and only the black ones have this problem. VERY weird.
Thoroughly clean out your charge port on your device and the cable ends on your cables. Unsecure contact causes slow transfer of electricity with these types of ports. Anytime I get that issue, cleaning the port and cables solves the problem until they get dirty again.
Just because you don't see stuff in there doesn't mean it's not dirty.

My problem is that I have slow charge in one side of the cable, and when I flip it and reconnect it show fast charging.
If it was dirty I should get slow charging any time.

The contact points for your cable connector and port have to all connect for you to get fast charging. That's why I said to thoroughly clean your cable contacts and port on your device.
It's just advice I gave, not a command. Your choice to do it or not. Another piece of advice, do full research on how the tech you use operates so that you can best understand its processes and functionalities.
Just saying.???
Use a Q-Tip and alcohol to clean the USB port. That should help. If it doesn't try another cable

You don't need to stick the Q-Tip into the port completely using swab the top of the connector and the port hole. That should allow the alcohol that has soaked into the port to drip down the length of the connector.

Be careful with that. Alcohol can eat away at the waterproofing adhesive that Samsung uses on their devices.
thats why i said gently clean your port with toothbrush only. no need to use any liquid cleaning or alchohal.

Ethanol Alcohol evaporates very quickly when it comes in contact with the air. 2 or 3 drops on a Q-Tip dripped onto the USB connect should clean it very quickly and evaporate before it causes any damage to the waterproofing adhesive.
