I need some help with an S7edge SM-G935A - SuperSU

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster, here! :silly:
I regularly root my phones and tablets, but I have been frustrated- like many folks- with the S7edge/snapdragon.
I bought my phone while we were on AT&T, and after the contract was up, we switched to Sprint, so I unlocked it. NO worries, worked like a charm.
About 7 months passed, and I saw that root had been achieved on the phone, so I attempted to root it. No luck. I have hard reset between each root attempt.
Since then, I have tried five different methods, most recently this one

posted by psouza4. (No reflection on his post- he's great)
The phone will not root. I'm baffled. After my last attempt (above) wifi calling will not turn on, no matter what I do- WIFI is fine, but the wifi calling icon will not come on-otherwise the phone still functions normally, but I do not have root access.
It is an SM-G935A, (S7 Edge) originally AT&T but successfully unlocked and used on Sprint.
Running Android 7.0
build number NRD90M.G935AUCU4BQD4
KNOX 2.7.1
Anyone have any ideas? I have plenty of phones, I don't want to brick this one if I can help it, but I'm open to risky ventures if necessary.
Thanks!

Please help

Hi all,
This is my 1st Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S) its 5 days old and seems to have a problem.
When I surf the net through my wifi connection at home after 10>20 mins of use its freezes, vibrates then crashes back to my home screen. Once at home screen it then vibrates 3 more times.
Its not rooted or running any additional software.
I've reset it 3 times to see if this helps but it doesnt.
Today I phoned Samsung support (uk) and they said it sounds like a software issue and they asked me to takes it to car phone warehouse so they could check it over.
I dropped into cpw house and explained my problems and they said they would re flash the firmware. 1 hour later I picked the phone up and went back home.
When i got home I checked the phone over to discover they had down graded it from 2.2 to 2.1.
I surfed the net for abit over my wifi connection and didnt seem to have any issues but the gremlins got the better of me and I decided to upgrade the firmware through Kies to version 2.2.
The way I see it I purchased 2.2 Froyo not 2.1 Eclair.
Since updating to 2.2 I'm back to having issues with wifi where it freezes, vibrates then crashes to home screen and vibrates 3 more times.
Please can someone help because I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or software.
Thx in advance !!
hi
you need to understand one thing
The Phone is on carers software, and by that it is meant to do whatever
carer decided it to do....
Without Rooting your phone ( what is breaching of your warranty)
De branding it ( in most of the cases)
And Un locking it.
there is not much you can do other than referring to the Carphone warehouse once again, for a WORKING software for your phone.
You can see witch Froyo Base/Breed you have in system informations
and then look for the answers for that specific Base/ Breed
But if you decide to Root your phone then tutorials for that are hire just google for it, its really easy, if you know what are you doing
best luck
xiadz
Thx for your reply xiadz.
Please let me extend..
The phone does not and wasn't purchased from the car phone ware house.
I purchased it from a local add. It was an upgrade and the previous owner was happy with his Iphone so I decided to purchase it from him (unopened and in the box) It is unlocked to any carrier and I have tried 3 different simm cards in it so it doesnt require unlocking.
Ive looked into the rooting and lag fixes but this didnt fix my problem.
I appreciate your help thou

Please help. Just bought a new S5 & have a question about enabling native tethering

Please help. Just bought a new S5 & have a question about enabling native tethering
I just purchased from the daily steals special unlocked galaxy S5. Being that I am from Canada, and because the description of the phone was in error I did not realize I was purchasingThe AT&T version which is locked down. While I don't strongly feel the need to root the phone and customize it, I would like to still have full functionality which includes native tethering which on my plan, with my provider in Canada I am entitled to. My understanding is that this version of the phone has the tethering locked down to AT&T. Being that I have not taken ownership of the phone yet I do not know which firmware is installed on it to see whether or not the option of rooting the device on kitkat (and changing the tethering can be done) and then bringing firmware up to lollipop is an option. This is something important to me as I use this feature often.
I would like to ask the following questions:
1. Firstly I would like to know when phones are purchased new do they always have KitKat firmware on them for this model or were any of you who purchased the phone did it come with lollipop out-of-the-box? This is supposed to be a new unlocked model for sale. It is not a refurbished model.
2. Question is there a way to know based on the serial number on the outside of the box what the firmware is? The reason I am asking is because when I pointed out the error of the advertised description of the phone they told me I am entitled to return the phone without restocking fee if I have not opened it yet. That it is already on an unrootable firmware.
3. If by chance this phone is on lollipop, is it still possible to enable native tethering if I am unable to root the phone? I have seen mention on an earlier thread where people used ADB and were able to pull the tethering provision file modify it and push it back to the system which would then allow native tethering to work. I am just not sure if this was specific to pre-lollipop firmware. I have also seen somebody advertise on YouTube it he for a fee is providing the service to enable native tethering on the galaxy S5. However he is the only person I have seen mention this anywhere so I am not sure whether or not this is something that can be done without root. Does anybody have any experience having done this?
I am unfortunately in the awkward situation of having this phone currently be in the US and be brought back to me in the next few days. So I essentially have the weekend to make a decision as to what I should do. If anybody can provide me any insight I would greatly appreciated.
Anyone?

Mine came with KitKat but if you connect to the wifi upon setup I believe they automatically update to Lollipop
I have a rooted G900-A connected to MetroPCS, and I downloaded an app from google play which unlocks the tethering function
OK so this is kind of weird. I just took ownership of my factory unlocked AT&T Samsung galaxy S5. I was dismayed to find when i opened the box and booted it up that it actually had the latest version of lollipop 5.1.1. What is very interesting however is I am in Canada it once I realized that I will not be able to root this device, I decided for fun to turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot and see if it would work and to my surprise and excitement the Wi-Fi hotspot worked with my Sim card for my Canadian carrier. So I don't know if this was a special version that was put out because this came factory sealed in the box it was a factory unlocked model the tethering was unlocked as well. It does have the AT&T bloatware on it but otherwise I am quite pleasantly surprised and happy as my primary reason for choosing to root the device was to enable hotspot. Does anybody suggest that I try to root this phone given that the hotspot is working.? Maybe this is a special version does not have the same locked boot loader as before? How should I proceed if I want to try?

Hi guys, my dad recently passed away and handed his phone down to me (xperia z1) C6093 which was initally locked to 3 UK.
Before he passed away he has it unlocked by 3 for free as its their policy to let you have an unlocked phone.
Basically his new phone was the new samsung galaxy j3 with lollipop on it. and i thought i like the look of that OS.
So i got the sony z1 and got the bootloader unlocked so i can stick a firmware of my choosing on it.
So as i planned i found a version of lollipop (offical as far as im aware) and put it on it with my sim inside it. EE.
Working for about 3 days and turned my phone on to a message saying, update comeplete please restart phone...
phone restarts and ever since wont detect my sim card.
ive reinstaklled the os lillipop, no avail
gone back to kitkat no avail.
and basically dont know what else to do.
if i type *#06# it still detects my IMEI
and if i do the *# whatever it is it says that its simfree and still unlocked.
#*#7378423#*#* ALL ARE SET AT 0, SIM 0 NETWORK, SERVICE PROVIDER ETC
ive read online that i could have backed something up and its quite important and i think i did back something up but cant remember what it is.
im a total noob at android and back in the day i was a whizz with apple around ios 6-ios7 days but thats a long time ago and moving onto pastures new i need a bit of help.
i used to come on xda devs when i had my tytn 2 years back.
Any help at this point would be amazing as im fretting that ive broke my dads phone he left for me and now hes gone
yours in good faith

Carrier switch help! VZW to ATT

Hey all! Forgive my ignorance, it's been a long time since I've done anything with firmware on Android phones (since I flashed a custom ROM to my Motorola Droid X about 10 years ago, lol). I've been poring over these forums for a few hours now and trying to piece some information together, but I could really use a hand from some more experienced folks.
Here's my situation: I'm in the U.S. I own an AT&T SM-N950U, and a Verizon SM-N950U. The Verizon phone is no longer being used (since April of 2018). I accidentally dropped the AT&T phone and heavily damaged the screen/digitizer and chassis, and would like to go back to using the Verizon phone, but on AT&T's network. I swapped the AT&T SIM to the VZW phone, and I was surprised to see that after a reboot, the AT&T splash screen came up, and after a factory reset, acted just like a new AT&T phone. It will send and receive data, SMS, and phone calls. However, the phone is still running Oreo, and when I tried to update it through OTA or through Samsung Smart Switch, it said that the phone was up to date. A little digging in the settings shows me that the phone is still considered a VZW-branded phone (ATT/ATT/VZW), and I believe this is the reason why I'm not able to receive the OTA updates. I also noticed that I no longer get 5G service, and I'm worried that there may be other functions missing too. I've seen BlueFox721's guide on carrier switching, and decided to do a bit more research before making an attempt, but I figured I would ask some questions.
First off, my main goal is to get this VZW Note 8 to work with all intended functionality of an up-to-date AT&T Note 8, including future OTA updates, bloatware, the whole deal. Is this actually possible?
If it is possible, can it be done without tripping Knox and hindering Samsung functionality?
I've read that root isn't possible with any bootloader past v3... I'm running v4 (N950USQU4CRF3). Is root necessary to switch carriers, or is it as simple as flashing an AT&T firmware with a newer bootloader version than what I currently use?
Again, I know a lot of this information is out there, but there's just so much to comb through I thought it might be better to just ask in regards to my particular situation, in case I'm not understanding something correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A605FN Root/Recovery Questions

Hello!
I am new to this forum and also completely new to phone modding etc.
I will shortly explain what situation I am in so maybe someone can enlighten me a little so I know what to do.
A year ago I bought a phone on polish trading site called Allegro.pl, for months it worked without issues, it was a brand new phone.
A few weeks ago a message popped on screen telling me the phone is now locked due to failure in monthly payments. (Previous owner).
I tried all ways of contacting the seller but to no avail. His phone number is off, he does not answer e-mails.
I decided to just ditch the phone and use some old backup phone I had saved. The problem however is that the old phone died and right now I can't afford buying a new one.
Getting this phone into a working condition (without any lock) is my only option so here are the things I have done so far:
I have flashed the latest Android 10 Firmware but right after the initial set up is done (after recovery) the phone locks.
There is no window with the information anymore however, but I can't use any of phone's options or apps in anyway.
I have found a way to bypass that for a brief moment and managed to turn OEM lock off and Enable USB debugging.
(When phone asks for Wi-Fi network I used my old SIM card and told the phone to connect using SIM's connection and right after the initial setup is done I quickly unplugged the SIM so the phone has no connection to internet anymore and the lock didn't start right away. It took me a while to figure it out, been sitting in front of my PC up until 5 am last night.)
If I install TWRP and a custom rom will it bypass the lock on the phone and will I be able to use it normally again?
Will I have to change the firmware somehow, or what exactly will I have to do to make use of the phone again?
IMEI's appear to not be locked as of now.
Any help, information, advice on this subject will be greatly appreciated!
