Oneplus 3T with NEXUS 5X CHARGER ? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

So is there a way to use the nexus 5x charger 5v 3a fully ? cause normally it should charge the 3t in about 1h45mn at the very least ?! Maybe some kernel manipulation ?

No, since they use different fast charging technologies. It depends on hardware, so no software "fix" that could change that.

This phone only support dash charge or normal chargers up to 1.5 amperes.

can we use Quick Charge chargers? (I believe the answer is no)

Everything I can find says that the only way we can "quick" charge is with the official OP Dash charger?
anything else we use will only do normal/slow charge?
As far as I know, this is correct. Dash Charge and Quick Charge are entirely different technologies that are used to accomplish a similar goal.
I believe that you can still use the QC charger, but as a normal charger. Just like Dash Charger when plug other phone in, it just turn into normal charger. But there is a potential problem here, Dash Charge works by pumping a lot of amps and keep the voltage the same, while Quick Charge doing it vise-versa, and QC is a technology develop by Qualcomm, meaning the SoC itself in the OP3/3T would support it, it just the rest of the hardware do not. If for whatever reason, the QC charger still provide more voltage than 5V, it could damage the phone. I don't know what is the max voltage the 3T can take before it get damage. If you want an official answer, get it from OP.
USB C plugs will work from what I've read, but nothing will quick charge but the Dash chargers--just normal chargers. Which is fine for me honestly, I use a regular charger at home (overnight) and keep the dash charger with me for work/etc where I need to pump juice faster.
That's dumb....I was hoping for quick charge 3.0 support plus dash charging. GAH! I might get a dash car charger then....I use my phone a lot. I like being able to charge fast while I use GPS. I use GPS a ton. And my new portable charger....QC 3.0.... That part of it is useless now.... grrrrr, but is this verified?
Maybe we all should contact Anker, and ask for Dash Charge support. What I very want is the multi ports car charger with at least one Dash Charge. But such charger do not exist anywhere.

Would love to see some 3rd party support.. in principle the idea of moving this function outside the phone seems appealing... but I hate only having 1 vendor to buy from... and I'm not even clear.. can I use the Dash charger to charge my non-OP devices? (ie. reducing the # of gizmos I have to travel with).

Yes but it won't "dash" charge them.
I asked the same sort of question here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69856748&postcount=5
I've been using an anker QC 3.0 charger on the OP3T and it charges fine.
it doesn't get hot, doesn't say it's fast charging but it seems to charge at a reasonable rate nonetheless.

Thanks for that.
I'm interested in knowing if the voltage/amps/whatever are going to mess with the OPO battery that's not rated for the Q3.0.
Does anyone know if USB-PD charging would on the 3T? I ask this because as a nexus 6P user i have a number of charging accessories, and USB-PD is baked into the USB-C standard. So logic would dictate assuming the 3T conforms to the standard it should be able to charge at 5V 3A, which would be slower than dash charge, but quicker than the average charger.
Have a good one!
I have a 7 port anker usb3 hub that has 2 charging ports and a 2amp 12v wall wart. It charges just as fast as the OP3T charger. Full charge from 50% after work in under an hour.

Quick Charge 2.0/3.0

Hi guys,
a lot to be read on the net and I wonder if the OnePlus is QuickCharge 2.0/3.0 enabled.
I know it has Dash Charge wich seems to surpass QC2/3 even. But that does not excluse support for the chipsets creator own technique Quick Charge from my point of view.
So any one out there with a QC2.0 or better QC3.0 charger to test If there is any advantage in using QC chargers?
I´ve got a LeEco LePro3 but I´m totally dissatisfied with the software support. No kernels, no roms, just TWRP, root and minimal optimized ROMs.
Waiting for OnePlus mail for available 3T with 128GB.
No, it does not support because for quick charging, the phone needs to have a current converter (I think?) inside. The Oneplus3/3T have those in the charger instead, because they (the converters) produce a lot of heat. That way the phone won't heat up like QC2/3. It will probably support the normal charge, but not QC2/3 modes. But since it has a huge battery, and they supply you with the dash charger/cable, you can forget about QC2/3 as it is a downgrade in every way.

Using op 3t dash charger with qualcomm charge 3 supported device ?!

Hello,
I have Asus zenpad 3s 10 that supports qualcomm charge 3.0 but it comes with regular charger and you have to buy a quick charger , so I have my op 3t dash charger and my questions is can i use it for Asus ;
1- is it safe for short and long term regarding the components of Asus , does it affect on motherboard or battery ?
2- if safe will it charge Asus quicker or not ?
Please who answers should be a specialist or one have tried this before , i don't wanna to lose 300$ device ?
As your Asus phone uses a different quick charge method than the Dash Charger supports, you will only get standard charging rate when using the Dash Charger with that phone.
Qualcomm Quick Charge vs. Dash Charging
Qualcomm Quick Charge uses high voltage (5V/2A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.67A) to quickly charge the device while Dash Charge uses high current (5V/4A). Qualcomm Quick Charge uses a Voltage control circuit present in the phone itself while Dash Charge utilizes a Current control circuit built into the wall charger.
A Voltage or Current higher than what the device is made for may cause damage to your device when the flow is not properly controlled. Also because of the fundamental differences between the two charging technologies your device will not charge faster when using your Dash charger.

Nexus 5X Rapid Charge wall adapter

Hi all,
There have been many posts about Nexus 5X wall chargers and their ability to "properly' support rapid charging the same as the original 5X chargers do.
My conclusion seems to be nothing does rapid charging on the 5X as well as an original Google Nexus 5X charger.
I have two 5X's and one of the original chargers has just died.
Any suggestions (preferably with AUS plug configuration)? Do the later Pixel chargers definitely work on the 5X (to the standard of the 5X chargers!)?
I don't quite understand why Google is reluctant to answer these questions, or even why it should be so hard to get an 18W USB-C charger that is compatible with the 5X (given the 5X has been around for 2 or 3 years now!).
Thanks in advance!
Cheers

I have replaced my 5X with a Pixel 3. I just tried charging the 5X (which was at 66% battery) with the Pixel 3 charger and the 5X switched very quickly between "Charging" and "Charging Rapidly" before finally settling on Charging Slowly (280 mA or so). I would have expected it to at least charge at its normal rate (about 1400 mA in my experience). So don't buy the Pixel 3 charger!

Thanks for that. Doesn't bode well for backward compatability

I use a chinese dodocool charger (da101w european version, was going to put a link but recent account..) and it works pretty well (even while using both usb ports)
Never tested the qc3 though

I've tried various non-OEM chargers and even the expensive ones that do trigger "Rapid Charging" message charge slower than the OEM version.

Question Slow charging

Hi!
I'm a bit annoyed about the charging speed of the Pixel 7.
Tested with a bunch of chargers and cables and charging is not going 15-16w.
Pixel 6 was charging with up to 21w with the same hardware.
Anyone having the situation?
The Pixel 7 does not charge very fast, yes. I got the original charger from the Google Store (for 30€) and it takes ca. 1,5h to charge the device from 5% to 100%. It won't get any faster I guess. Not every USB PD charger supports PPS, keep that in mind and buy only chargers that fully work for the Pixel 7.
All the chargers and cables I'm using are capable and we're charging the Pixel 6 up to 21W and the Pixel 7 is specified just like the Pixel 6 so i assume my one is kind of faulty
Understand that best practice is to:
1. Use low power charging
2. Charge up to 80%
3. Do not allow the batt to fall below 30%
This will help with battery durability.
Just my 2 cents.
Yes, but when you're on a bike packing trip in race mode you need a fast charging phone.
Beside that, I'm also pissed that devices don't fulfill their own specs
