Wifi toggle won't turn on - Moto X Q&A

I rooted my Moto x , it bootooped, so I flashed stock firmware, now wifi won't turn on. I've rerooted and everything. Is there a way to edit build.prop settings to fix wifi? Or any suggestions how to fix it?

You're good, but a factory reset from settings wouldn't hurt. You didn't change your kernel or radio.

Thanks, I found the post on the official leaked update and went head and flashed that.
It seem to fix my data dropping and the Camera works. Only thing I noticed is that I'm only till show 2 bars but under Status its between -60 and -70 so I think the bars meter is working right.

[Q] [T-Mobile] Is Wi-Fi calling working with root?

So I went back to completely stock/encrypted to flash the new 5.1.1 update with Wi-Fi calling. I want to stay encrypted but I want to re-root my phone. Anyone running the new T-Mobile 5.1.1 build (LYZ28E) with root and having any problems with Wi-Fi calling? I just want to make sure it won't break it if I root... it would defeat the entire purpose of going back to stock.
Thanks!

Flash SuperSU and report back to us, let us know if it works. You can always unroot with ease via SuperSU settings. There is a cleanup option.

I could, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else has done it first.
My biggest concern is that I have yet to see Wi-Fi calling work. I flashed my phone at work using NRT and I am connected to Wi-Fi, and I have enabled Wi-Fi calling (set to Wi-Fi preferred) and I'm not seeing any evidence anywhere that it's active. I'm probably going to have to wait until I get home and try my Wi-Fi there.
My phone is rooted and wifi calling is working. BUT i have several ap's at home. before i had no issue handing off from one ap to the other. now, i have to disable wifi and re-enable to connect to the closest ap. also, the update has completely stopped giving me notifications on my moto 360
No problems for me.

Rooted nexus 6 will not boot up after I edited build prop

Hey all this is my first post on XDA.
So I was trying to unroot and relock my nexus 6 so i decided to replace the build.prop that i have edited with a copy of the original build.prop i had saved on my phone. I used root browser to do this. after I did this I restarted my phone and all I would get is a black screen with google in white and an unlocked lock. it will not boot back up.
My phone will go into recovery mode and that about all i can tell you.
I would truly appreciate your help.

If your bootloader is unlocked, you can fastboot flash the stock factory image.
Or, if you have TWRP Recovery (I sure hope so, since you were modifying the build.prop) you can connect to your PC while in recovery, then transfer a custom ROM .zip from your PC to your SDcard. Then flash it in recovery.
I had the same thing happen, all you need to do is flash the system image only. Luckily you don't need to flash userdata. Still looking for a way to enable tethering.

you do realize that when you edit your build.prop, if you edit to something that doesnt support the n6 or you make a spelling error somewhere, then most likely it will not boot? anyways, the easy way around this is before you edit your build.prop, make a nandroid backup in recovery. so that when you mess up, it won't be a pain in the butt to get everything back.

This was a method to enable tethering under 5.1, but they've done something to disable it in 5.1.1.

no, its still the way to enable FREE tethering, as long as it is all entered in correctly, it still works. but for tethering, you dont need to do anything, it works straight out of the box.

Nope, not for me on LMY48I stock, unrooted. WiFi hotspot won't even turn on with 48I, for me. AT&T family share plan (which includes WiFi hotspot). But USB tethering does still work.

in your apn, try changing the IPv6 to IPv4 instead, that should fix the tethering issue(not free tethering, just wireless tethering).

Thanks. But it is IPv4. Standard AT&T "nextgenphone" APN.
Doesn't really matter for me, since I rarely use tethering. But other users may benefit.

On LMY48I stock WiFi hotspot works great for me. I also have a AT&T family share plan and I connect my tablet to the WiFi hotspot quite frequently.

Am new at this and in uncharted territory. I rooted my new Google Nexus 6 using the WugFresh, Nexus Root Toolkit 2.0.4, Root program downloaded. Also downloaded Busybox, ES File Explorer, Superuser, TWRP, Root Browser. I fail to understand which one gives me root control. Also loaded Cyanogen Mod 12.1 nightly build as a ROM. Also downloaded Wifi Tether 3.4 Experimental 1-07202013 which has worked in my old rooted Galaxy Nexus since 2013, and previous versions since 2011.
I'm thinking I am in over my head as I attempt to deal with a new system, Lollipop, and now Marshmallow 5.1.1 and new phone Nexus 6 and older tether program? Can you suggest or recommend a ROM with perhaps more compatibility and ease of tethering? Wife and I live deep in country and our phone tether only access we have over Verizon with the repeater.
Ray

WI-FI won't turn on after botched root.

I attempted to root the moto G, but the instructions were unclear and I think I flashed the stock firmware incorrectly. So now the WI-FI won't turn on and my device still isn't rooted. Can somebody walk me through the process of fixing this please? Thanks in advance.
