No Emojis after stock ROM flash - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Well, to start:
I am a happy 3T user, think it's a nice phone with a lot of opportunities, so I tried to install a few custom roms, which succeeded. I was quite happy with all the custom roms.
After a while of trying out CM13, I installed Resurrection Remix on my OP 3T, but wasn't that positive about the battery life my phone gave me. So I decided to flash the original rom, found on the OnePlus site (can't add a link because I'm a 'new' account) and flashed it.
After a problem being solved (accidentally deleting everything on the phone, so I needed to install everything with fastboot), I had an almost perfectly working phone. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that my OnePlus 3T didn't have any emojis. The only emojis added to my Gboard, which is a fantastic keyboard, were the stock emojis that I 1.0 users would laugh at for being ugly. Not even the Google Emojis were there, only black/white Emojis. These smileys look a bit like the smileyfaces on Windows PC's.
I found on the internet a few flashable .zip files including Emojis, but when flashed, these only replace your existing Emojis. In my case there were no emojis to replace so these .zip files didn't work.
Is there any way to turn this around? When a Emoji pack is found, i do prefer the iOS Emojis over the Google Emojis.
Thanks in advance. :good:

[REQUEST] AOSP Browser for Stock Android GE

Hi!
Android GE was recently released for flash (so a lot of people is really happy right now) and I KNOW is very early to ask for mods, but if someone could help with this, that would be great (lol)
I want to have the AOSP browser in GE, I tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173565 which is the mod for sense based roms that works in HOX, HOX+ and One but it did not work for the GE... so I also tried to use the broswer from the nightly of CM (put in system/apps and set permisions) but no luck (well i had to try :silly...
its just my opinion but I always feel the aosp browser more smooth than chrome or firefox etc, even the stock browser in sense (which is almost the same). maybe i need to wait until a deodexed rom?
well thanks in advance for any help
+1 I definitely agree, the AOSP browser is so much better.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium HD app
This app will let you install the AOSP browser.

Use root explorer (es file manager), set permission of /system to RW and copy the apk over then restart.
thanks, both methods works, they dont have 64 tabs and incognito mode but its ok, thanks again!!!
I tried both methods with no luck. Running rooted HTC one with GE Rom. Does the rom have to be deodexd?
I used ES file explorer to change permission of system/app to rw, moved browser apk into system/app, changed name of BrowserProviderProxy.apk and BrowserProviderProxy.odex with an added "1", then restarted. After boot, everything is back to normal, as though no changes were made. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will try deodexer.
I installed it multiple time just with the AOSP browser installer found in the playstore. This i can guarantee that it will work.
Also i copied the sense browser from a sense zip to the system app folder. just set the permissions for both the broser and the sync apk.
worked for both deodexed and odexed roms, maybe a custom kernel with disabled system nand protection is required. Dont know exactly what i did but its working for me

I'm not sure what's going on. I tried the AOSP browser installer from play store. It goes through the steps, but when it asks me to reboot it does nothing. When I restart myself, it's like nothing happened. I'll try doing it with another ROM.
Just in case someone is having the same problem. Version 4.1.2 of the AOSP browser was not working for me but 4.1.1 worked fine.

Disable Emojis In 4.4.2?

Is there any way to remove the emojis from 4.4.2? I'm using the Android Revolution GPE ROM, and on the sense version my keyboard would add in the emojis(from iOS) by itself, now that i'm using the GPE ROM, the keyboards emojis get replaced by the ugly looking KitKat emojis, which look pretty bad on my phone, with the density set at 400.
You can delete the emoji file in /system/fonts

That just made emojis disappear completely, I restored the emoji file and the normal KitKat ones came back. Did some further searching on google and came across this thread on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563757
flashed the ZIP on page 2 of that thread, and I now have the iOS emojis on my phone

How do i change my Emojis on my HTC One?

I'm on Android 4.3 and sense 5.5 on the custom rom - Android Revolution HD 31.6. By default, i have the HTC Emojis but i want to get the iOS emojis. Now i know i'm going to get comments saying wtf is wrong with me iOS emojis suck. But that's just my preference. Now I have tried getting emoji switcher from the playstore but it says this device isnt compatible with this version. So i then tried to manually change it by getting ES File Explorer but that didnt work either because the emoji file type i have is NotoColorEmoji.ttf but the emoji file my phone carries is AndroidEmoji-htc.ttf and AndroidEmoji.ttf. Getting desperate i tried renaming the NotoColorEmoji to both those files but it was no good. I'd really appreciate it if one you guys could help me. Thanks in advance.

On sense and just about any ROM they are no longer stored like that but are stored as images in the frameworks file. You will have to decompile them and manually change out each image and then recompile and flash to your device.

I tried to do the same as you. In the end I gave up, rooted my device (I had already unlocked the bootloader). After installing an app and changing the emojis I went into superuser and full unrooted it.
I tried to do what you wanted but things like adb said that /system is RO rather than RW.

[MODULE] JoyPixels (formerly Emoji One)

This module replaces the built-in emoji with JoyPixels, systemlessly.
Link:
https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/JoyPixels
Thoughts on what might cause the buttons below to not show up? They are the only ones not showing up.
Edit: forgot details. Stock nougat for Nexus 6, systemless root, Magisk v8.
Attempting to install this through the downloads section of Magisk Manager causes it to not install and it says "This zip is not a Magisk Module!!" On the latest Magisk and Magisk Manager, HTC 10 (Viper Rom) v4.2. Any ideas?

Me too on HTC 10 (Viper Rom) v4.4. If I load it in twrp, only some emojis are changed.

unzip the module and navigate to /system/fonts/ and create a blank file called "hTC_ColorEmoji.ttf" that will get the new emojis to show. just re zip the contents of the unzipped folder and flash/install
Works fine for me. I'm on a nexus 6p though

That did it! Thanks a million!
If I use substratum to change my font it suddenly starts displaying the regular google emoji again, anyone know why, the font I'm using does not include any emoji.

Nice one, thanks. Works fine on Magisk 11.1.
Could this be used to replace system emoji with any emoji pack? Would be brilliant to use it with Twitter or iOS ones.

Both this and the iOS emojis don't seem to override everything in Silence, the smssecure fork on fdroid. In the keyboard they display as the module intended, but within the app they're still regular android emoji

This is the default behavior of Signal and its forks.
I haven't used Silence, but depending on how close of a fork it is to Signal, you will find "Use system emoji" under Settings -> Advanced.
Not showing up in magisk manager anymore? Something happen to the repo?

I updated the repo to the latest template before they stopped showing the older templates, so it should be showing up. I'll look in to it.

Seems it only gives me the option to enable/disable the app's emoji drawer, but using the keyboard emoji page still results in the default android emoji (or Silence's own) being used. Thank you for the info
Where can I find the module?
