Not sure what's wrong in my phone.
Tried multiple methods from Google.
I uninstalled Nova Launcher and tried but failed.
Also not working in safe mode.
Ended up installing third party app.
power down + vol down, works fine.

I have the same issue. Honestly, the volume down + power button is a weird combo for me. I have Google Assistant turned on. Simply hold down the circle until you see a flash and Google Assistant comes up. Then type or say "share screenshot." Simple solution. I'm guessing we could remove Google Assistant to get the shortcut keys to work but why bother this is faster and less awkward. If you have gestures turned on then hold the fingerprint sensor button until Google Assistant comes up. Occasionally, "something went wrong" will display. Just try it again and make sure you wait for the flash.

I think you should use google assistant to take screenshots on moto e4 plus.
hold the home button for 1-2 seconds to open google assistant. Then, Type or say 'take screenshot'
Hope It Helps.
Do you have any apps frozen? Did you remove any services?
Yes, just keep trying. It's all about the timing of the buttons pressed. Maybe if ya hit the pwr button a hair before the vol dwn.. everything works fine for me

I can't see any similar problems on the forum, so can anyone help?
Yesterday my Kaiser's power button stopped working. In the middle of the day, not doing anything with it, installing anything or changing any settings. I took it out of my pocket and the screen was on with the power off dialog box showing (I normally keep it on standby in my pocket) The power button wouldn't put it into standby, and holding it wouldn't power it down. Intermittently the power off dialog appears on screen, if I click yes the device restarts (doesn't stay off). Everything else seems to work normally still. Soft resetting works normally. All the other buttons seem to work ok. I've tried a hard reset, but that made no difference.
Anyone else have anything like this?
no but i think ur power button seems to be stuck.. take it to ur local att store and see if they can help u out or try pressing and see it becomes unstuck.

I'm having the exact same problem right now. The power button definitely seems to be stuck. Can't figure out how to unstick it
About a week ago I had a similar problem.
The power button and the photo button stopped working. I couldn't turn the the device off or set it to standby.
Had to soft reset and after that it was ok again.

Well that didnt work! Any other solution?
Is it possible to unmap the power button and map that question to another button???
My phone will no longer boot.
Pressing the power button does nothing.
When I hold down the power button for a period of time (seemingly infinite) and the home and back buttons blink. The screen itself does nothing.
When I hold the power button + up / down buttons (I've tried various combinations) then again, the home and back buttons blink and the screen itself does nothing.
Of course...I'm naturally concerned that the phone is bricked / dead.
I've done some googling and a little reading around and I think I can resolve the issue by botting into fast boot and using hasson2000's all in one toolkit.
....is it likely the phone can be put into 'fast boot' (I think this is what power + volume down does)?
I do I need to wipe "everything" including the custom recovery?
Thanks for your help.

Yep he's right. To prevent soft reboots in your pocket, htc made it so that you need a light in the sensor. Try holding the power button under a light, and be patient. If it doesn't work after 5 sec, keep waiting until it does. I have had to wait for 30sec-1m once, but it worked eventually
EDIT: you could also try if ADB works, in that case you'd just have to use adb reboot.
It worked!
Thanks guys

Are you trying to disable the proximity sensor? If so follow the link below. It is done on an M8 but pretty much the same for an M7.

On the CM 10.2 Android 4.3.1 and was wondering how to take screenshots. It used to be, Hold power and press home button. But I tried it and nothing. I searched the forums in this section for the HTC Vivid and did not see how to do it on JellyBean.

Still don't work. I tried that yesterday too. And I found apps that could let you do it by searching around but I rather not rely on an app. Also tried back button plus power, back plus home. Nothing is working.
I'm on the 10/31 version of the CM 10.2 port (4.3.1) and that's the key combination that works for me. What rom did you come from previously? Power + Home was for sense based roms I believe. Perhaps you had a bad flash and things are mixed up.
I came from stock before. And it was what ever the default combo was.

It's really odd that power+vol down doesn't work, I remember being on CM 10.2 and that worked for me (that's still how you do it in CM 11). It does require that you press both buttons simultaneously, and you hold them until the phone says it took a screenshot (about 1 second). If the volume thing shows up, or the phone sleeps, or the power menu shows up, you didn't hit them at the same time.

Another way to be able to take screenshots in CM10.2 (and 11) is to get into your settings and access the Buttons sub-menu. Then go to Power menu and enable Screenshot. Now when you hold down the power button (like when you're turning off your phone for example), you'll see a section dedicated to Screenshots.
Hope this helps for future reference!
That is wonderful to know! Not having to perfectly time my button pressing would be awesome. Thanks dude.

Anybody having problems with the power button not working?
It doesn't work at all no matter how hard I push. At times it works without issue, other times I have to use the camera button to wake my phone.
Anyone else with this?
Defective unit.

Did you both ever opened the phone, maybe for repair or the.prevoius owner? Maybe check the "outside" when opening phone (and removing LCD) many times the button flex cable gets damaged or get a small crack so it stop working after some time... The button flex is mounted very easily, maybe just need to get it back right into position and make sure it holds the contacts. The whole flex is just 6euro, repairing easy.. Just follow "ifixit"
✌
I had a problem with the power button on my phone recently. It was off, just like you describe, guys.
But the combination: power button + vol UP, to force a reboot of the phone worked and after booting, the button was working and the problem never occurred again.
I was charging the phone. I picked it up to check something, unplugging it. I set it down. Came back to it a few minutes later, and.... it's dead. Completely. Tried holding power button a bunch of times for long stretches of time. Plugging it in gives no response--no light, no vibration. I had this happen once before but then it rebooted when I popped out the SIM card, and all was well again. This time, nothing.
Can anything be done?? Not sure what else to do/try.

Omg, holding power button + volume up worked!!

This is how it SHOULD be done. But it does not always help. My XZ1 compact once completely locked up while installing an update to the Android System Webview app. I could select a reboot in the menu but there it locked up forever. None of the key combinations worked. I ended up having to send it back under warranty to Amazon.de and their service partner repaired the device and flashed the factory image back.

Wish I had found that website in my Google searching lol. The results I was getting were for more generic Android steps. And I kept seeing people write power button + volume down. I did come across something written about holding power button + volume up which allows you to enter a menu to do factory reset... So then I tried that.
