Anyone import MIX to UK? - Xiaomi Mi MIX Questions & Answers

Hi there
Just wondering if anyone has imported the MIX to the UK from Hong Kong/China and whether you got hit by VAT and import duty.
I have bought many phones and gadgets from banggood and gearbest and have found that they can be "conservative" (ahem) when quoting the value of packages to customs.

Never been hit with import duties so far, just luck.

Shiny thing make it all better
My MIX arrived yesterday (under £400 delivered from gearbest) with not a hint of import duty. Saweet.
This is the most beautiful piece of tech that I have ever owned; I have to force myself to use the case provided as the ceramic body is so gorgeous.

Which delivery option did you choose? I'm guessing not DHL/UPS but the standard delivery option? How long did it take and was you able to track it?
Thanks

Can't remember what the delivery option was, just that it was an extra 16p for faster delivery and it came via yodel in about 5 days. Trackable both at gearbest and the yodel site.

[Q] (Q) lowest price of ZR in EU?

Hy!
does anyone know or bought also ZR in EU with lower price?? Im in croatia, and i see that there is only on ebay.co.uk ZR but its more expensive...
thanx!
item must be from EU because of tax & import duties!
I live in France and I bought it from Digitaland, at less than 400€. I know it's not from Europe, but I did not pay any taxes.
I'm just worrying about the warranty.
you may consider ordering from a chinese website where it will perhaps be cheap enough to cover the import tax you'll have to pay, if you want i have a few good ones i know.
i ordered mine from one, it was 480$.
thanx!
well i dont know, but probably tax office will see if package is not frome EU, and will bill me import duties, so yes shteren if you are willing, you can PM me sites.
but im still loooking for EU cheap deals

From the times when I was looking for this phone like a crazy obsessed maniac, there are Dutch online stores that had the ZR for between EURO 475 - 495. It might have gone down since then (this was around the beginning of July). However, they only ship to the Netherlands and Belgium. If you can find a friend to ship it to you from the Netherlands, it would be the cheapest deal.

Lenovo K3 Note where did you buy yours?

Hi,
I purchased mine from Gearbest, com. Ordered on Monday and delivered on Tuesday to my surprise.
I also bought mine from Gearbest. Mine took 7 days and cost £108. the box was open and a load of sh*te had been installed. At least it came rooted so could flash twrp recovery with flashify.
I purchased 3 from gearbest 2 came rooted 1 didn't, they didn't come with too much crap but still had to remove some stuff.
I bought from AliExpress, seller Hong Kong Goldway. Cheap and fast, less than a week, delivery to Europe.
Got teana version from aliexpress, with multi language. 180 usd with express shipping
Ordered from gearbest 9 days ago, despatched after 5. Could still be another 3 weeks getting here (UK). £107 Inc 3 for insurance.

Phone got delivered today, 13 days after order.
Bought mine from: http://www.to2c.com/lenovo-k3-note-2g-ram-16g-rom.html
I bought it at about $175.98 USD
Bought it via amazon.de, via il-astore.eu or something like that, they had a good price vs. all others 'positive feedback' etc.
It was about 180 Euros, with shipping+VAT.
The only lack I see about it is - and I'm having this funny conversation from someone from the store is that I asked their return policy
cuz they sent me the yellow lemon version, I wanted simple white. Would prefer black but what can you do.
Cheers!
Is there a topic: Why did you buy a Lenovo K3 Note? I think it should exist if it doesn't.
Cheers&allthebest,
N.
Got mine from a local store, it was 185euro(few months ago) + tempered glass and earbuds.
They rooted it for me and agree to update it when the least rooms comes out, and gave me 2 years warranty.

Got mine from Gearbest (EUR warehouse). The package had been opened and the Lenovo seal torn. There were fingerprints on it and it came with adware/malware. The usual. Gearbest also failed to comply to my request of including the proper power adapter for my country, but that's minor. Cost 151€ (which would have been 145€, if my Paypal conversion rate had been set up correctly), plus 10€ shipping to my target country. Shipped using a proxy delivery service, similar to Borderlinx. Great value for price so far. Especially with the Nexus 8 ROM.

I bought mine at Tinydeal.com. They offer priority shipping within 3-5 days for a couple of bucks more. My phone arrived via free standard shipping after 2 weeks for € 134. The package was delivered by PostNL, they declared it to be a MP3-player with a value of € 35 (I didn't ask them to do that) so I had not to pay any additional taxes.
Very pleasant online shopping experience, I recommend Tinydeal (except from the tax fraud).
I asked them for a German version of Android (nevertheless it came in Spanish) and a European power plug, which they added. Software was VibeUI 2.5, very slow, not rooted with unremovable spyware and annoying ads. I installed Nexus ROM. Speed increased from Antutu 22.000 to 46.000. I'm in love with that phone!
Bought mine from vickmall for 140 euros.
Trusted site, i have already buy ~11 phones and only one had issues with capacitive buttons backlight
Bought 2 phones, both via gearbest..one is now having the limonchello rom and the other one is on the nexus rom.
Price was around 150 - 160 USD I believe, shipping to The Netherlands.
Both came with chinese crapp on it, 1 case also had the seal broken.

Where to buy Xiaomi Mi8 for the best price?

Hello XDA Users!
Can You please tell me:
Where to buy Xiaomi Mi8?
I've heard that the lowest price I would get on Aliexpress but I never bought anything from that site.
Is is a good idea? What to look out for?
Buy only from MI official sellers? How about tax and other things when shipping to EU?
I don't know much about the taxes charged in the EU, but I purchased a white 6/64gb mi 8 from Joybuy for 361$ including shipping which im pretty sure is the lowest you'll find right now. They accept paypal so that adds a little bit of peace of mind.
I bought my SE on Honorbuy since it was the lowest price I could find that provided EU shipping. You only pay for the phone and there's no tax bs.
https://www.honorbuy.com/237-xiaomi-mi-8
You can get a Mi 8 there for 410 € in total ( including DHL shipping which means the phone should come to you within 3 days ) .
But if anyone knows of a better choice for EU residents, please do mention it.

Yeah, on THIS SELLER
it would cost 450 USD which translates into 390 Euros. That's with the DHL Shipping ( which you must select if you don't want to be assf%cked by customs and tax ) . This is the cheapest as far as I can see.
I've heard a rumor that it's good to have./buy an (extra) insurance (?) as that would prevent customs and tax and choose shipment from China to UK and than from UK to other EU country (that way we avoid paying Value Added Tax cause its a internal EUnion trade).
I ask again as I'm a complete Aliexpress noob - what are the basic things that I should avoid when buying stuff there? I don't want to loose a big amount of money by making some well known by Aliexpres users cardinal mistake.

Read the description of the product ( they often tell you which shipping method to pick to avoid customs ), check the feedback and see how many orders the product has ( sellers should be more experienced if they processed more orders and if the feedback to the product and the seller are great ) .
Sellers are nowadays pretty great, it's the buyers who are mostly idiots who don't bother to read what the seller wrote and fail to choose properly/fail to give proper shipping info and then say things like " Hur hur, Aliexpress sucks, it's a scam".
I order pretty much everything I can from Aliexpress (mechanical keyboards, cases, mice, headphones, etc. ) and even when the product didn't arrive ( one time ), I got a refund.
I can't guarantee that every seller is perfect but you can always send the message to the seller and ask them in PROPER AND EASY TO READ ENGLISH ( they're Chinese, don't write complex essays and expect 100% of it being understood ) and they will give you all the info you need.
It's in their interest to sell and to have a customer which will post positive feedback.
I know I sound patronizing but buyers on Aliexpress are most often retarded and blame the sellers for it.
I'm honestly more hesitant when it comes to ordering from eBay than from Aliexpress.

Because a lot of good deals say " the seller doesn't ship to your country" , meaning I have to contact the seller and wait a ton for them to reply if they even ship to Croatia ( which is in EU but I still have to ask for some reason ) , let alone to know if the shipping isn't too high ( it's interesting how you have to pay more for shipping within the EU than from China to EU but whatever ).
On Aliexpress you have all the info in front of you and you can choose various shipping methods. Everything is automated in places where it should be.

purchase asus rog 2 phone

where can i purchase online the phone china version no problem.
Yeah, couldn't find it on aliexpress.
Giztop.com has it listed
You will need to wait 3 weeks or 1 month or even more. The stock is limited they are currently locally selling the phones in batches every 4-7days and every time it's sold out.
Is Giztop even legit? I feel the list thing as in stock but ship it 1 month later. Also it's at an inflated cost right now being $100 more, I would wait a month
I've bought a phone from them before and purchased this from them. I'll see when it ships and arrives.
It looks like Alibaba is selling them. https://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?fsb=y&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=&SearchText=asus+rog+phone+2

Hi,
I received it at my door 4 days after them getting the first stock (they use DHL Express). Usually full processing, shipping and getting through customs takes max 5 days.
I did of course get to pay customs tax, around 28 EUR (+-30 USD), I live in Barcelona.
It arrived in perfect condition and included a simple charging adapter.

Liaow is $200 more than original price. it is quiet expensive without including shipment cost and customs.
giztop probably buys from JD and marks it up by $100
Even if you live overseas, you can purchase this mobile phone at the Chinese version of jingdong.com official store.
liaow wants $1150 shipped for the RoG Phone 2
I hope prices go down eventually. I am content with my OP7 Pro but would like something with better battery and no curved edges.

is it reliable? the only chinese I buy from is Aliexpress, and sometimes the vendors are mean/tricky. i found this one:
https://item.jd.com/100006808184.html
But i m relying on google translate to understand the page... I m a bit worried about risk of not being able to communicate with the seller or so if anything happens... and there is no shipping cost?
Also i was reading the comments on the phone on JD and soo many complaints about defects in screens. it seems they are suffering from quality check ?
which makes me worried as Asus won't support tencent out of China...
And I tried to create an account and it requests to use phone number. I added my phone number but not receiving sms with the code. I guess they have the international code to my country wrong.
Thank you

Order Pixels to unavailable countries

Hello all, I have a general question about Pixel phones.
I have wanted to own one for a long time, but sadly in Hong Kong, the last phones I could order directly from Play Store were Nexus phones. We can occasionally find them in grey markets, but this is such an unpopular device that it's always a second hand phone sold by some tourist passing by....
I would really like to get away from One Plus and Xiaomi and am not interested in Samsung and such. So I decided that this year, I'd get myself a Pixel 5 for Christmas
So my question, anybody had experience using some online store to get Pixel phones to countries where they are not officially sold?
I could ask friends or family back in France to help me to order it then send, but I'm always a little wary about using the "normal" post channels to ship something like this which is expensive and could be blocked at the customs.
Any experience and advice to share?
If the Google Store price and subsequent postage is within your budget, and you know you won't have any issues with customs, you could order it from the German Google Store and a mail forwarding service like mailbox.de to ship it from Germany to your country.
Google does not ship in other countries, only the ones they have a store, like Germany. You sign up at mailboxde and they give you an address within Germany. You order the phone through the Google Store, and put that address for delivery. When the phone arrives there, they will notify you and you can forward it to your own address.
Now, there are other forwarding services too but I've only used mailboxde, and that a few years ago when I got the first OnePlus device. Also I have no idea how much it would cost to ship the package from Germany to your country, for Greece it was around 20 euros extra and took two to three working days to arrive.

I have a Pixel 5 from Amazon UK due to be delivered by DHL to my home in Lai Chi Kok today... No problem ordering internationally, no VAT to pay, a few days for shipping (would be quicker if Amazon hadn't sent it around the country for a couple of days) - but it is out of stock right now. I've used a bunch of non-local phones in Hong Kong over the years - including an HTC Desire I bought from Fnac in Paris while transiting, which had been rooted in a cafe before I got on the plane to HK

Oh cool, thanks!
I did not know that Amazon could do delivery like this to other countries for those devices... I usually see the message "not available to ship to HK so I just generally give up
I'll probably do like this later when the phone is more easily available.
Thanks again for the kind reply :highfive:

Ah. sounds bad, and I see how it must be disappointing if you wanted to use it.
But really, 5G, I feel it's not something so essential in our lives
In any case, it is one of the risks of import like this indeed....
Pixel 5 in Hong Kong
I ordered mine from Amazon UK. I got a Pixel 5 UK version. Shipping direct to Hong Kong, so no VAT. Shipping is not expensive at amazon. However, it will only work in 4G. It will not work with the 5G network in Hong Kong. If you plan on using it in a different country, check. It is not a frequency issue. The frequency is supported, but it is other software issue. If anyone have answer to this, please let me know.
Thanks.

All my sadness disappeared when I sent a claim for Bose headphones and they validated my order. expecting them to ship it in two weeks.

Thanks a lot for info. Last one - what forwarding service have you used, please?
But I guess as there´s limit 2 order per adress, it would be already unusable anyway
