Gets pretty hot while charging.
It's pretty hot but still feel good. I play Sky Force Reloaded while not charging.
Have you guys tried charging it with its own charging dock ?
not as hot as other phones i have owned so heat isn't bad, not enough to worry about anyway.
Pretty warm while charging, but I think it's normal. While using unplugged had no problems at all.
Gets pretty hot while charging (yes, with it's original adapter) especially when the battery is below 20% and you plug it in the charger
Not a good phone if you are trying to roast marshmallows
but i haven't experienced any heat issues. cant even tell the difference between warmth from my hand and warmth from the device

The heating is normal and not a problem. The heat will lose if you're done charging and unplugged the charger.
Recently upgraded to 9.0 and its a bit hotter now during charging and use.
even pops up a warning that i never got on oreo.
What's the performance compared to Oreo? Does it still have ram management issues?

Phone heats up more than you would think since it's the 808 CPU. It's not super hot, but after like five minutes of hard use, it gets warm. Then it slows down as the CPU underclocks.
Remains cooler than the N5 in all scenarios and heat is dissipated more evenly through the device.
The lower internal and skin temperatures come at the expensive of decreased performance due to thermal throttling.
I notice mine gets a little hot under normal non game playing use, seen it get to 100F.
The top does get warm at times, but mostly extremely cool to the touch
Never had an issue with heat with a few months of use. Only time I've noticed it is when I'm running backup or restore in TWRP.
Compared to my S4 this is an ice cube. Maybe because I have the Ice Blue? The sim card holder in the S4 was starting to separate from the motherboard because of the heat!
It's gotten slightly warm a couple times sitting on the bed or a similar not well ventilated area but hard use and gaming doesn't make it boil. I've never been concerned about the temperature of this phone.
Occasionally gets hot in the pocket for no apparent reason
Phone does heat during multitasking 1 hour Skype call and heavy application of online betting and 1 more application but it does cool down automatically. Still love this phone
sorry
Gets heated while playing games, near Camera!!
My phone really gets hot after some ROM installation and few Boots up whithout resting. Around half top front and rear gets so hot that I can´t even make a call and I have to let it cool to keep using it as I´m afraid it would explode :S. Also performance has an impact when it gets hot obviously. LG, make some work with the cooling because this isn´t good.
My current phone heats up while using mobile data, quite hot actually, how does this phone do?

The website notebookcheck tests for thermals and had this to say about the 5x:
With idle temperatures of just over 25 °C, the Nexus 5X hardly heats up noticeably in idle mode. The handset is also unexpectedly cool under load despite the relatively strong SoC. The hottest spot measured reaches just 37.4 °C here - other premium smartphones often surpass 40 °C. The review sample can even shine with the lowest rates compared with its rivals.

Considering human skin temperature is around 38 degrees C, the 5x remains much cooler than most other devices. It still heats up, but it will be a few degrees cooler than other devices in all scenarios.
I've found the phone fine under every condition other than gaming.
The phone seems to suffer from not being able to dissipate heat very well with it being plastic. I've seen CPU temps get up to 47 degrees Celsius and seemed to throttle and affect gaming performance.

I think the reason is playing an elaborate game.I believe the native android by Google is no problem at all.
I read many reviews and Anandtech analysis of the problem, I was still shocked by how bad it is.
Just install two apps and scroll a bit in Spotify and the big cluster is throttled, holy hell this Snapdragon generation is a complete clusterf**k!
Snapdragon 801 is a lot better.

iam coming from a s801 phone (oneplus one).
it produced the same amount of heat during heavy usage.
i was not surprised after i had setup the 5x first time
s810 is way worse, s808 is actually ok.
Always stays cool exept when you are recording 4K or Slow-mo video.
and even when it turns off big clusters it still feels snappy to me .

I think that's just what Skype does. I tried this on a Nexus 6p when I had it and man that software is ridiculous.
Yup Skype is a PoS no matter what platform you use it on. This phone is getting warmer after some continuous usage, nowhere near the M9 though, even after some 20 minutes gaming sessions
Get quite hot quite quickly, even in rooms that are not hot, but seems to cool down. Wi-Fi is the culprit I think. I have my radios off (Airplane mode) and put it in battery saver, so I'm not sure why it would be getting so hot.
It does get warm especially when it's charging and if you are doing anything extensive like gaming due to the unibody conducting heat but it does cool down fast though.
I play the same game very often, and honestly I must say that the phone is not too hot in that specific time.
I've had the "Time Out" warning a few times. But that's because it's usually been in sun light on a table or on my lap in the car. I haven't noticed extreme heat from just normal use yet. (While charging it can be warm, but this seems to vary based on the type of charger I'm using. My wife's crappy Walgreens charger seems to get the phone hotter than other chargers I've used)
When flashing rom and having it up the charger it got so hot it scared me, plugged off charger and cooled down some..
What should the temperature be during charging and a screen-on activity like GPS navigation? I regularly use my 10 in the car, connected to Bluetooth for Spotify streaming and running Google Maps for navigation. I regularly see temperatures between 105 and 115 degrees, which seems really high. I blow AC on it to cool it down, but I'm curious if this is safe/normal temps?
One time I just left my phone on my bed, went to the kitchen to talk to my mom for about 15-20 mins. I left the battery around 30%, came back to it on 3% and the phone was hot AF. I had no idea what happened since I didn't leave anything installed, nothing updated, it was just my regular usage and I left it on the home screen; I even cleared recents before going to the kitchen. I had no idea on what happened, rebooted the phone and it cooled down, charged it afterwards.

Never worry about temperature. The phone will throttle if it hits a specific temperature and if it gets too hot will turn off to protect itself.
Phones won't get hot enough to fry from factory because of safeguards.

Much improved from the M9. That phone would regular burn me. This one only warms up while charging really.

I give the HTC10 a 10/10 for heat rating. I've never ever felt the phone get hot, like the m9 did. My m9 will get too hot to hold without a bumper on it. Even with a rubber bumper it will still burn my ear. HTC10 is one of my favorite phones of all time right beside the original Nexus 5. Definitely the best phone of 2016.
I had it get hot on me once. I flashed a new rom & it was charging & optimizing apps. I always do that with case off & it doesnt get as hot

About the same as my old DHD, doesn't overheat much in general use unless it's in 35+ weather or in the sun. It's worse tho at charging, sometimes it charges normally and sometimes it will overheat and hit 42+ and then I have to unplug it and let it cool off before continuing. Happens even if I turn off internet and start extreme battery saving mode.

the only heat I have noticed was when I first got the phone and hooked it up to an Anker fast charger(usb-c/usb-c) battery pack. After its first full charge, no heat. stayed relatively cool.
Will update with changes as needed.

No heating here I play Crusaders of light all day at work, plugged into the fast charger all day as well, no heating what so ever. Did the same with the galaxy s8
My Note 7 would get almost hot but haven't noticed ant heat on the Note 8 or S8+ while playing games and on the charger.
I have to agree with the previous posters. The Note 8 compared to the Note 7, S7 Edge and S7 has vertually none of the heating issues that the 7 series did.
Heavy use with and without charger plugged in, barely warm.
As the previous posters, I can attest the 7 series phones got hot, very hot after heavy usage. I saw a YouTube video of the Note 8 being torn down yesterday and saw there is a heat pipe from the processor that is designed to channel the heat from the CPU to the phone's frame. Next gen CPU must really run cooler.
It runs much cooler than my V20. But seriously this device doesn't get hot at all. The only time I've gotten it hot is when I first got it and it was installing multitudes of apps.

Gets a bit warm, not over whelming, about the same as my Nexus 5X
While it gets a touch warm - even when it was downloading and installing all 150 apps, 15GB of Google Play Music, with Folder sync doing data transfers it still stayed much colder than my Z5C ever did with a couple of minutes use. That would probably burn toast!
I thought it got pretty warm, but idk. The material might have just transferred heat to my hand easier because my hand was sweating and you could see it on the back of the phone.
The phone gets REALLY hot when its constantly downloading something.
Anyone got any battery temps? If I run games for an extended period I end up around 43C. Cooler than my Moto X Pure which would hit like 47C.
Idle and light use around 30-33C. The phone has never felt hot to me in any circumstances so far.
"Feels kinda warm" isn't a very good measurement.
If anybody can provide heavy load or gaming temps I'd appreciate it. Also any additional info such as case or no case.
Usually if u charge and use a device at the same time that's when things get hot pixel 2 got warm enough to feel threw a tough spigen case wile browsing and charging nothin crazy
Hmm not great. I came from a note 7 which was very warm to a note 8 which was ever so cool. Considering the pixel but the heat issue among other things is a right turn off.

it will not get as hot as your note 7. note 7s had a few of them explode which just goes to show that sometimes the phone would get hella hot. not a lot of them did so it wasnt a huge problem when referring to how many blew up vs how many were sold but i presume higher than avg temps on all of them
It gets hot sometimes even when you aren't doing anything.
No heat issues so far. The best example for heat is to use Hangouts video calls. Generally with every previous phone I've owned I got a massive battery drain and heat when using FHD video calls. With the Pixel 2 the difference is huge.
We have to consider that this phone is easily ramping the big cores to 2.45Ghz and still maintains a good temp. I'm not suffering temp throttle like I was used after 5 minutes or more of continuous usage/browsing/etc.
Sent from my Pixel 2
It only gets warm when charging. I did not experience any kind of extreme heat coming from the phone and im a heavy user.
Only gets really hot when using AR, not so during games
I havent found anything to overheat the pixel 2 and im a heavy user. BUT that would be a lie. ****ty snapchat can make it warm up sometimes and well, Ark Survival really heats it up and eats right through my battery.
Pixel 2 Hotter after CreamPie update
My Pixel 2 is warmer than usual since the update. Prior to the update, it heated up a couple times mostly due to crappy game apps, which I removed.
Now it gets hot under various circumstances like running Android Auto, which is currently unstable until they release an update to fix whatever they did to break Android Auto.
It also gets warm in my pocket. I'll notice it's warmer, pull it out and cant see any reason that would cause it to warm up so much. This Pie update is crap.
Dont upgrade if you havnt already. At least wait for them to fix the bugs in Pie.
Could you test CPU temp and throttling using this app? It would be really useful.
I usually set it for just 5 minutes and it's enough. Also, tick the boxes in settings to show cpu temp and share a screenshot. Thank you!

I think nubia have fake temp status.
Or is that a bug i don't know
When i turn the fan on at max speed. Temp increased. Things like that happen. Or when i come back to auto from performance mode. Tem goes up.
Which is weird. Makes me believe that all this temp and gpu turbo and fan is a gimmick.
Air temp is 26 deg Celsius.

How do you measure the temperature? Was it a temperature of the CPU or the battery?
If your sentiment is not a user error or a fluke, then your unit is defective. Here's what one of the most prolific Youtube reviewers said about the fan - "it was keeping my phone 8 degrees cooler than my Samsung." I assume 8C, not Fahrenheit, because the reviewer is from UK.

Instead of admitting that you were sold a defective unit and exchanging it for a working one, you think there's a conspiracy that involves the Nubia corporation and "paid youtubers."
But hey, I'm thinking this guy is not a psychopath. Maybe it's just a user erorr.
Maybe he thinks that having a fan in the phone should make the phone feel cool to touch during gaming.
Maybe he simply doesn't understand that the fan may be lowering the temperature from 55C to 47C, and that 47C will still feel hot to the hand.
Hey guy,
Can you actually provide real world numbers with screenshots?
No one has experienced anything like this before, so either your phone is defective or you have a nervous breakdown.
Yes, the phone overheats while charging but if you switch on the gaming mode to check heat also in certain Celsius comes down gradually and quickly in my case. So fans not a fake gimmick. Also when you are playing games heat is normal for heavy graphic 3d rendering titles like pubg, fortnight I play pubg with extreme HD and it heats but the fan keeps decreasing the heat. My suggestion is to charge where there is air free flow of air like a fan, AC, or cooler to keep ambient temp in control.

Yes
That is understandable, but then what is the fun of a fan gimmick when you need additional external air circulation with AC.
Even with clash of clans. Not much demanding game phone heats up. Plus additional charging while playing the temp increases continuously.
Circulation of heat and cooling inside the phone is poor. I'm starting to wonder if the battery has nay issues of heat while charging.

You are the one who's playing games while charging the phone, something that should not be done to a cellphone battery especially with 26C ambient air.
You realize that by charging and playing you are heating up the battery and the cpu at the same time and that's really going to cut battery's life real quick?

I'm not suggest to plug in a charger while gaming, it will make the phone hot, especially when you using the original fast charger. Anoher thing is you hae to know you can't get a high performance with the low temperature, if you get a very hot phone, the cpu will running in a low clock speed. The RM3 can get highest score on Antutu so I think the fan is doing something.
