Photo quality - Nokia 5 Real Life Review

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Nokia 5 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).

Overexposures whites, adds a lot of noise (sets ISO numbers to ridiculousness) in low-light. HDR helps, but not too much.

Stock camera needs a lots of improvements,

I agree with both replies. stock camera is trash. get the google camera or something. both cameras preform badly in low light, but when the lighting is good picture and video is awesome. Would like some more detail but i still got more than what i paid for.

Photos are partly blured

Sometimes i see that taken photos are partly blurred, even in good light condition.
I could understand this in lowlight, and if whole picture were blurred, but this taken in daylight and only in some parts. Example:

you can see a distant building is very sharp, and nearby road and fence is blurred
Guess what. It's called focus.
You can try and change the metering mode in TD2 to "average" instead of "center area".
The cursor in the middle of the screen tells what it is going to be focused.
I'm sorry if I'm being hard on you, but this is dead easy to be aware of. Basic stuff. Even our eyes focus.
Well man, certainly I'm aware what is focusing. But its really strange to hear such things from such "clever" boy. We are not discussing here mark ii with 85mm on 1.2 aperture... Its just a phone, everything further then 5 meters is in focus... Its more like to be slow processor and cmos sensor...
Like you mentioned, it's just a phone's camera with poor cmos sensor and processor.
Don't tell me you reached that conclusion only after my reply?
And again, partly blurred photo...

i'm interested if anyone else faced such behavior...

[Q] razr i camera pics

ok i must admit that i was a bit disappointed with this camera on this coming from having the deffy i thought this would be better it is bad in low light
with lots of noise but there are ways of getting better pics on it but there should be more settings ie macro but it does a good job of doing it with out this would have liked to have had this setting added but what i will say out side it performs good here is just 1 pic i have shot just to show you will add more and hope you will all add more and see if we can find a way to improve on the low light pics

In good light situations, the camera has a terrific performance. The bad point of it is the noise in low-light situations... but it's normal. Don't expect something like PureView.
Over cast days it does just fine. What light conditions are you trying to take photos in?
Sent from my RAZR I using xda premium
Wow. The question really seems to be light. With good light - great pictures, with bad light - ugly pictures (all mine are). I will to get better light after seeing these cool pictures.
In low light situations, try turning on HDR. Pictures come out fine after doing so.
on from me
I think the camera has some good quality
Took these didn't come out to bad

A desperate solution for the purple/pinky tint photos

OK, so as we know some of us are having the lovely purple/pinky tint during shooting photos or videos.
For those who are lazy to go and replace it or for those who went out of warranty..
I found a desperate solution for it but it won't fix the whole thing. It may help you if you are posting pics in social sites and stuff like this.
OK I got this pic as u can see, purple..
Using Aviary, first go to settings and put the max size pic settings before doing this.
(Why? Our device will output a 4 megapixels photos so it won't take big sizes on the device)
Ok, go to Enhance, select color fix. Apply.
Then go to effects. I use the Sedona effect from the wanderlust category. Apply and save.
It's better than the original, not the best but it can help you.

I think inserting a "Taken with my HTC One Ultrapixel Camera" on all your purple pictures and posting to as many social sites as you follow may get HTC to pay more attention to the problem.

Taking clearer pictures on the M7?

I know that the M7's camera is nothing to write home about, but some pictures I take come out very sharp and clear, others not so much. I took these two pics minutes apart and (obviously) in the same lighting conditions:

#1 is much sharper and clearer than #2. It seems the stock camera app will allow the image to be captured before the camera is finished focusing. Then it's hard to tell if the shot is truly in focus on the small screen. I go home and upload them for editing and find half the shots I take are slightly out of focus. Most of the pics I take are posed or of still subjects, so I don't need instantaneous shots. I'd rather have the app wait the extra split second and focus properly for the clearest possible image.
Is there any way to change the settings in the stock app, or a 3rd party app that will take clearer images? I don't mind spending a few bucks for a paid app if it's good.
Bump.
Anyone?

Astrophotography

Hi guys
I am interested did anyone tried to shoot astrophotography with this phone as it has 30 sec exposure and high iso.
If someone did can it post the photos with settings it used?

I will try as soon as I get to someplace with stars.

what focus setting you used?AF-S, AF-C or MF?
I didn't take the picture so I don't know what was the focus setting ! In my case, I can't use manual focus for astrophoto because of this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ual-focus-to-infinity-results-blurry-t3937296
Actually, I do use MF in astrophotography but just to lock the focus. Then, still in MF mode, I use the tap to focus feature on something with good contrast in the distance (city lights for example). This way I can get perfectly sharp pictures.
Iv had some luck with my p20 pro (just got my 30) so I'm looking forward to trying some more.
