xda Samsung seems to listen to us and develope VR Apps that we want! Samsung is now presenting Samsung PhoneCast VR App! this allows us to use our beloved Video Apps like kodi on our Gear VR! Sounds pretty cool right? few months back people tried doing this but now we get a official solution
currently it's in beta and only supports the S8 and S8+. I hope in the future when it's out of the beta stage it will be available also for older devices. Can anyone test this app on their S8 / S8+? If I change the model to a SM-G955F on my Note 7 from a SM-G935F it's starts the app but I get a prompt to update my Firmware before I continue. Can someone disable those ckecks for device and firmware please?

That's been out for a couple months now.
Galaxy S6 +
It crashes on my galaxy S6 Edge Plus :crying:
Loving it!
I'm getting message on s8 Oreo that I'm not entitled to use it... Any other Oreo users have same issues?
Yep same here on my S8+.
I was wondering if it's region locked (I live in the UK), or it doesn't like Oreo.
Either way, it's pretty ridiculous.
What about note 5 android 7

Use hotspot shield set to US run occulus and run cast vr once then when working.
After that you won't need the vpn.

If you wanted live out your Inspector Gadget fantasies, but lacked the Galaxy Note 3 needed to take full advantage of the possibilities, we've got good news. Samsung's bringing compatibility for its Galaxy Gear to the previously-mentioned Galaxy S 4 as well as the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II through an Android 4.3 update. While those are the big ones, the wearable will soon hook up to a whole swathe of Samsung devices (Galaxy S4 Mini, S4 Active, Mega 5.8, Mega 6.3, and Galaxy S4 Zoom) in an update arriving at the end of October. Naturally, the typical proviso for different release dates in different countries remains, but those flagship devices mentioned earlier will get the earliest access -- and will also be able to make and answer calls with the Gear, like a real inspector.

Hopefully sooner than later I can use my GNII with the Gear.
This is great.. hopefully I can get it to work finally. So far installing the .apk on my mega hasn't been successful. Always stuck in syncing.

You can use your Galaxy Note 2 with your GEAR via Android 4.3 as the following link for downloading rom : https://www.4shared.com/zip/CJdXMW_o...100XXEM16.html
[password : wagnervaz]
Then you can use Note2 with GEAR,,
*** Wanna know your Note2 code is : N7100 ?? If yes, GO FOR IT. If not ... you have to wait.
I have been trying to hard to find a rom of 4.3 to use on my sprint s4 but the only one i find is real buggy with sms....anyone else have a sprint version s4 and found a rom.....
So to clarify: which device will get an update for Gear to work on it? Does the Gear or whatever device (S3, S4, etc) need the update for gear to work with it? I don't see that specific piece of info.
It was already posted. And we already knew that 4.3 rom = gear support (however supposedly that wasn't official if this is the official confirmation?!?)

This isn't quite new, but regardless: It only works with the international version.
Also, your post just reeks of bot/scam/annoying-ads
Hi
I have Note 2 running stock rom updated to Android 4.3.
Planning to get the Gear 2 / Neo . My decision to buy the same is basically because of the health options i.e. pedometer, heart rate monitor etc. which sync to S Health.
However, as note 2 does not have S-Health, will we get an upgrade from Samsung to use the watch to its fullest.
Thanks
I have the exact same question. I'm running Omni ROM 4.4.2 and hope I can make the Gear 2 Neo work with it.

I take no credit for this, but did some digging and found the APK for you:

Install that guy and you're good to go. I would assume Samsung will eventually release the app officially for all supported devices, or maybe the Gear will have a download for it.. either way, you should be good.
On my US Verizon Note 2, I just received an over the air update providing an integration app. called: "Fitness with Gear", so looks like someone is listening...

My experience with neo on stock rom is better than the 4.2.2. ROMS which are all based on google bluetooth drivers, which are not very good.
On stock you have way better bluetooth connection, no lag while playing music from neo etc.
As for the health options, they're not very good at the moment and I would not recommend you to buy neo if you want accurate health tracking.

Can somebody confirm if this works? I think you need one of the latest updates from Shealth to make it work with gear2.
updated version of s-health
latest update of s-health for S5:

Far from perfect but at least I can use my Neo now.

Fyi: I upgraded my Note 8 to 4.2.2 (KK) and while more things work now (svoice and weather for instance) I still cannot acess the samsung app store for gear 2 apps.....
Samsung, please let the Note 8 access the app store via gear manager...I am pretty sure it is just setting a flag...and I do not want to root it (company policy)!

KK on Note 8
fyi: I fully hard reset my device. Not much changed and I still do not have access to Gear apps in the Samsung app store, despite Samsung claiming I should. See link: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/wearable-tech/SM-R3810ZAAXAR
Here is the text from that Samsung website:
"Samsung Gear™ 2 and Gear 2 Neo are currently compatible with devices that meet the following criteria:
Android™ version 4.3, Jelly Bean or higher
WVGA or higher screen resolution
1.5GB or higher memory"
Note 8 with android 4.4.2 meets all criteria, but still.....
My only 2 options are now:
1) Wait until hopefully samsung will have mercy and enable Note 8
2) root and change the build ID

Yes.
Does this option comes from factory in OPT3 ? Or some tweaks or mods needed For this ?
Because Im using this feature of multi user on my galaxy s7 edge android 6.0.1 marshmallow ... it required root on samsung and also some other mods to enable this option
It works on stock OS. I always thought multi-user was an Android feature, not a specific ROM feature?

It is since 5.0 for phones.
But some OEMs disabled it.

True, that was the reason why i was asking ...
but i think now things have been cleared... we dont need any mods or root for this multi user feature in OPT3 .. it is already there by default
I had to root and mod my galaxy S7 edge for this feature

Is it present in open beta builds for OnePlus 3T?
OK, I used my good old S10e only for GearVR. Last day it installed update and told me: "F U dear customer, your GearVR is now paperweight".
What would be the best strategy to
1) DOWNGRADE the firmware to previous or any good version
2) obtain (where?) GearVR binaries to reinstall?
I'm in the exact same ****ing boat except I have an S10 Plus. I use it for Samsung oculus vr often. It pisses me off how it was just removed like that and I to updated yesterday. Have you made and headwind on finding a solution?
I aslo have S10+ and I use Gear VR very often.
Waiting for some great man to provide a method to make it working on Android 12 One UI 4.0
I also hope for a workaround to get gearvr running on s10 android 12
I'm in the same boat. Unfortunately i updated my s10+ to G975FXXUGHVJ5, and the last android 11 rom is G975FXXSEFUL1, so i got scr*wed. No downgrade as the bootloader binary has been updated, and searching for a gearVR apps backport solution, comes up empty. Last time i bought a Samung. They've became what i've always despised about apple.
