Huawei p9 Plus - Unresponsive screen - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello xda, i just got this damaged phone, it boots, my PC recognized it (VIE-L09) but tthe screen is black, checked the cables inside, checked for water damage, everything is ok.
right now i tried to connect it to my PC and it kept saying connected, after a few seconds disconnected, connected, disconnected, ~10 seconds time between connect>disconnect and the phone was vibrating each time it was connecting/disconnecting. i think it's bootlooping...
I don t know much about this phone, the guy who sold me said "it died in my hand", it was really cheap, i don't care if the display is broken, i will buy a new one but i'm asking you guys, where is the problem and how can i solve it?

you're probably sold a broken phone?
surely from the symptoms, it sounds... broken...
is that the behaviour the first time you got it? if you've never operated the phone properly before you tinker with it since you first got it... probably you're sold a broken phone.

Can anyone help me?

Hi i have had an x1 since august but within a month its been dropped and then it was unable to show the screen, i opened my device to try and fix my problem but messed with nothing whatsoever, when i put everything back together it wouldnt even turn on anymore! all it did was charge and when it was fully charged there was a red light. can anyone help me? please im desperate to fix my phone. My first paycheck was spent on this and i loved it despite the numerous flaws! also i havent charged it in over 2 - 3 months. Also when i opened it the tape that connect the rear and the front is kind of messed up, would that effect anything?
The tape that connects the front and the rear is the cable for the screen, so if it's messed up, you might need to get a replacement.
here is a pic, the red part where its circled is where i think the problem is, it looks ripped off, i did have a hard time opening and putting it back together the first time also.
Sounds like (Or rather, looks like) you're screwed, as far as I can tell, if it's really ripped. Otherwise attempt to clean the contact points with some cleaning alcohol and Q-Tips - something might have made it's way in when you disassembled the unit and blocked the electrical signals.
ill try it, but if that doesnt work, would i be able to replace the flex ribbon? would acteone work?
got this checked out by my friend, he told me its the flex ribbon cable, thanks for the help btw. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get a flex ribbon cable from?
Still would like confirmation if its my flex ribbon cable before i spend 40 bucks on a new one. thanks!
Hi, I am new to this forum. Sorry for posting here but I think I have similar or same problem with my xperia. Few days ago I drooped my xperia and then I could not turn it ON. I opened unit, the flex cable was detached.
After attaching the flex cable. I could turn the unit and it booted normal but no response on touching screen I even tried to align it but it did not respond. I turned off the unit. After trying turning it back ON only back light of the screen turned on (no sony logo, no xperia logo no winmo).
I tried to turn it on few times but same result. Even tried to soft reset and hard reset it but no difference only back light. Is it because of flex cable or because some thing else? I can`t even go in to 3 color screen. Please help. Sorry for my bad eng. Thanks.

[Q] Phone works, screen does not yet sometimes it does

Hello
One night I was using the phone without doing anything special , some video watching . Phone went dark, tried to reboot. Blank Screen and the capacitive buttons flash. Left it to charge all night, in the morning it started but after I pressed the lock button blank screen but phone still working and receiving input.
Took the battery and SD card out left it for 30 seconds then started it again, Stuck at LG logo. Repeat , phone started ... Pressed lock button once then again to unlock , screen wouldn't start.
Used LG Mobile Update recovery tool to restore it ... Didn't solve problem. Sometimes it does not even start , just flashes buttons, other times it does without screen and last all works even the screen until first time goes dark , in the last two cases I can use LG On-Screen Phone without trouble, in doing so I installed a proximity sensor test app to see if it was causing my screen to not come back on , the sensor looked fine.
Facts:
1. Two day old Optimus Black p970, worked like a charm until stated problem
2. The app that checked proximity sensor showed the sensor to be free when my hand wasn't on it
3. The warranty laws in my country are idiotic so I would do or buy anything rather than send it so they can give me a new one in 3 months.
4. Tried another battery from another Optimus, fully charged nothing different.
5. Stock rom.
Do any of you fine people have some ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance
Hi there...
Sometime ago [1 year and a half or so~] I worked at a cell refurbishing facility [there were samsung, motorola and palm devices from sprint] and that problem you have was quite usual. Blank screen, still the phone is somehow usable like reciving calls...
There's this thing called "flex" which is the connector between board and display and that is what we fix, most of the time not even "fix it" just getting it in the right place...
This happen because of excesive use in those sliding or clamshell devices, in OB could be for overheating, you could try to fix it yourself or pay $20 usd [that's what it cost here]
Would that connector explain the fact that sometimes it doesn't start at all? hmm I am thinking now and I guess if it moves and somehow the phone feels it has not display connected it could fail to start... Anyhow thank you
actually yes, it could be only for the flex [some devices don't start at all when not having display or keyboard if there's any] but since our OB is not sliding nor clamshell type probably was overheating.
you say you have stock rom, well now I'm using CM7 but when I was at stock and after using the phone a few minutes it felt warm and some more minutes [like playing gunbros where you need to use both hands and a lot of movement] it was really hot and had to stop playing for a while.
what I'm trying to say is that because of overheating flex could have moved, but because of overheating too may have move something else, you couldn't belive the huge number of micro-things that reside in the board.
so if it's only the flex, it's an easy task to do, just unplug and plug again, but if it's something else it's quite hard to know just looking at it, you need to do some electric measures and stuff, the recomendation is to take it to a tech center or something
Hi. I Have same issue. Two times when i press power buton, butons flashing and screen still black. Phone not responding. I must remove baterry.
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Hi there, got the same problem too with my optimus black. Screen goes flickering, shut down don't do any good, and the phone temperature is kinda hot. But in my case it work after I clean some cache and data in the phone storage through LG OSP. After that, the phone temperature back to normal and the phone screen back to normal also. I believe that in my case the phone is overheated.

New display assembly won't work

HI guys,
I want to post on behalf of a friend who has a problem with his Xperia Z1. He originally bought it used with a broken display, he then changed it with success, the phone was working fine until it fell. At this point the display was still working but not the touchscreen, so he ordered a new assembly from the net (not genuine, like the first one which worked tho).
Upon receiving his new assembly, he immediately started the repair. However, when he turned on the phone, he only felt the vibration and nothing appeared on screen. No any light, he got a totally black display with no sign of life, while the phone was fully charged, and was recognized by Windows (he could even access his files on the memory).
He obviously thought that the seller tricked him and that the assembly was defective but when he tried with the old one (which had the display working but not the touchscreen), the same result showed up, no light, like the assembly wasn't plugged to the motherboard at all.
So far that's what I told him, check the connections to the motherboard, and make sure the flex ribbon is not damaged. He even bought a new ribbon and installed it, with no success.
He read that the problem can come from the display ribbon touching the chassis, thus making a short-circuit, but I doubt it. How if the display connector on the motherboard is broken? Is it fixable? Like buying a brand new connector and soldering it.
Thanks in advance for helping us
Try a hard reboot by Golding vol + and power until phone vibrates. Is the backlight working?

Thanks for reading this long problem
Sure, he tried the hard reboot thing, he even successfully flashed a stock ROM but nothing changed. I can only think of this as a hardware problem, but what part is defective?
The motherboard connector?
The ribbons on the chassis? But he changed to new ones already!
The LCD assembly? Same, the one he tried is a new one...
Still no one to solve the mystery?
I'd like to add that the phone turns off itself after approximately 30 minutes in idle state. That is, the explorer doesn't show the phone anymore and it has to be powered on again.
I know the best solution would be to buy a new motherboard or just forget about this broken phone, but it's a challenge to fix something that is apparently hopeless

Green light when connected to computer

So, one year ago, my C6602 felt on the water, for my bad, some of the waterproof doors were open. At first, it didnt damaged it at all, so i managed to turn it off, and wait cause we have a person who fix eletronic things. But, i was stupid. Even knowing that this would damage the phone, i did turned it on again...at first it were ok. One hour later, touch stoped working, couldnt turn the alarm clock off...then the screen goes off as well. Well, i did take it to stores who are specialized in cellphones and all of them told my cell was dead. Today, i decided to open it to see what the **** was happening, it turns out that i couldnt figure nothing out by myself, buttt i put the charger and got a red light. I though, its dead already, nothing bad will happen heeh. I let it for 4hrs~ charging, pressed the on buttom, but nothing happened, oh, at first, when i charged it a little, when i press the on/off buttom it would gave me 3 red notifications blinking, but that time it didnt. Instead, it went to green, and i could manage to access the cellphone on the computer (internal memory), all my files were there. Also, when chargin, it first showed me a red light, followed by a yellow/blank light, and, therefore, a green.
There is any chances that the cellphone isn't dead? Its this sorta of protection of your data what happened? Or the screen is really broken (and, by changing it, it'll be back to normal)? Thanks.
It seems that phone is turning on, but displays nothing. It may be display fault, but may be display related pcb malfunction also.

Screen not responding to touches anymore - plz help

TLDR: Screen not responding to touches anymore for no apparent reason. It's displaying everything properly, but it won't react to any touch.
Something weird happened to me today. I own a Mi 9T Pro. I received a second Mi 9T Pro with minor water damage at the bottom part (charging port area).
To make sure it was repairable I replaced the damaged parts with parts from my own Mi 9T Pro just to check if it's working. It was working.
I ordered replacement parts from AliExpress and today I put everything together. I didn't have the screen yet, but everything else had arrived. I connected my own phone's screen again just to verify that everything is working. And then it happened.
I turned the phone on. It vibrated and the Mi logo came up as usual, everything seemed normal. After some seconds, while the Mi logo was still on, the screen suddenly turned kinda turquoise for a bit, as though it lost signal for a moment. Quite like an old TV would do.
It did that two times. After that the booting was completed and I had to enter the PIN - at which point I discovered that the screen does not seem to be registering touches anymore. It's displaying everything properly, but it won't react to any touches anymore.
I shut it down and plugged the screen back to the phone it belongs (my own). And touching is not working on my phone now either ...
(Volume buttons work - screen shows the volume bar changing up and down properly.
Screen is about 2 years old and was working flawlessly before.)
Anybody got a clue what might have happened? Can it be saved? I've never had this happen before. Can it be that some replacement part/flex cable was faulty and it damaged/burned the digitizer? How can the touching suddenly stop working just like that?
I highly appreciate any input since having used the screen from my personal phone, I am now left without a phone
Thanks to everyone very much for your time.
you should check the screen cable , you might have damaged it.
Check the ribbon cable under a microscope , check the pins also , you might have bent them. (70% probability)
if not , then your digitizer is damaged somehow (30% possible)
Thanks very much. And either scenario is not repairable I guess, right?

On the contrary, both are repairable.
the first scenario is repairable relatively easier compared to the second scenario.
if its the ribbon , it can be repaired if you have the equipement and micro soldering skills, you can easily repaired the broken traces.
For the digitizer , there are some repair shops that have the equipement to replace only the digitizer, and keep the original screen, its not a DIY task really as you need a lot of equipement thats not worth doing it yourself.
Hope this helps.
It most certainly has helped, thank you very much mate. Have a good one.
