[2017 Family] Huawei / Honor series PRA (Prague)
At the beginning of the year appeared the new Huawei P8 Lite 2017. This device is marketed worldwide with different colors, regionally. Here the explanation to the different names:
P8 Lite 2017 - PRA-LX1, LX2, LX3, LA-1
P9 Lite 2017
NovaLite
Honor 8 Youth
New added:
GR3 2017
Specifications:
CPU: 2.1 GHz, Kirin 655
Ram: 3/4 GB
Rom: 16/32 GB
Cam: 12 Mp
Batt .: 3000 mAh
OS: EMUI 5/ Android 7
These devices are technically identical.
It often happens that after an OTA update your device has a different name. Do not be worried. The firmware is the same on all devices.
I wrote this info because many users are confused about the different names.
PRA-LA1 >> GR3 2017 in North Africa
Thank you. There will be more to come.
thanks.
:good:
I hope it will receive android O
definitely
Thank you for the useful information!

Hello guys ,
Anyone try root p8 lite 2017 par-la1 model number ?
HI, i sent a facebook image to Huawei poland and they've replied: "Cześć Matas! Huawei P9 Lite 2017 dostanie aktualizację do EMUI w wersji 5.1. Aktualizacja oprogramowania jest udostępniana w pierwszej kolejności dla telefonów z tzw. wolnej sprzedaży. Te, pochodzące od operatorów, mogą otrzymać aktualizację w późniejszym terminie (zależy to już od poszczególnych sieci). Aktualizacje nie są też udostępniane dla wszystkich Użytkowników w jednym terminie - są wysyłane w kilku partiach. Prosimy o cierpliwość. Pozdrawiamy!
"
In short, P9 lite 2017 (same thing as p8 lite 2017) Will get emui 5.1, Firstly not branded phones, then carrier branded devices.
Great news.
yeah, sounds great!
Aren't the two different devices? P8 Lite 2017 is Kirin 655 and P9 Lite Kirin 650?

P9 Lite 2017 is just one of many names for this year edition. Great news indeed, just shame i have a branded one so we'll have to be more patient. You guys reckon this phone will be planned for Android O?
Great news jienkie, would be great if we get the Android o too

What's the support history of Huawei? This is my first Huawei device so I don't have an idea.
If they do support their devices with software updates even for just a year, we are bound to get Android O as our devices shipped with Nougat to begin with.

I think so too. Huawei isn't too keen on support for mid-rangers timewise, but for comparison P Lite and Honor Lite series always got newer Android version that they were shipped with, so this one should get one up too.

Even if they don't support the P8 Lite 2017, I wish they would release the sources at least, and let the community take care of the rest. Now, even if we don't get official Android 8 and EMUI 5.1, we can build ourselves some Lineage / RR / etc Custom ROMs so we won't be left behind.
Still I didn't get any update Huawei sucks at this
Sadly boyz we will be stuck on Nougat.
Maybe porting oreo from P10 Lite will be possible if someone will give it a try. Having oreo on p9 lite is good. since our devices runs very smooth and with our ram size i think it can handle oreo

Welp. I don't think they will be releasing any android go on our device.
Oh well, goodbye Huawei.
It said in the reply text "the list of phones with available OREO will look like this in the first quarter of the next year". Which means that we still can get it in the second quarter of 2018. I think I even found some official list where P9 lite is scheduled to get OREO in the second quarter of 2018 but I can't remember where if you killed me now.
Maybe p9 lite 2017.
Here it is:
I'm new user so they won't let me post links, but google for the site theandroidsoul and for huawei oreo update release date
It's an article from January 16th.
It said in the table that P9 lite is scheduled for update to OREO in quarter 2 of 2018.
What is confusing dough, is that on this official table of update schedule Honor 8 lite is scheduled for quarter 1 of this year but P8 lite 2017 is scheduled for quarter 2, which we know is the same phone with a different name, it also bears the other names like P9 lite 2017, Nova lite, and GR3 2017.
Our P9 lite kirin 650 is just 0.1GHz weaker in 4 cores than P9 lite 2017 version that has kirin 655. That is the only difference between these two phones. How much do they need to change OREO for it to be ready for our update with basically the same phones?
And here is another announcement for Honor 8 lite(P9 lite 2017) for coming update from just 2 days ago:
Google for gsmarena and honor update 9 phones

We have our own Forum, why are we still using the old p8lite forum ?
And it's full of ROMs too
Uhm..maybe because we have PRALX1 and Honor 8 Lite is PRA LA1?
Hmmm my phone is honor 8 lite and im PRA-LX1C432

We might get updater.script errors on TWRP and cust incompatibilities... But I might as well be wrong, sure @haky 86 and other experts have the correct answer for this. If they are 100% equivalent, we should indeed migrate this forum
only if no roms there in that section!
or better I can ask a mod to move all pra-lx1 right there to get more visibility, at last I've nothing to do or work on the old p8 lite anymore!
P.S: my next new rom will be published into the Honor 8 Lite, I'm not going to publish roms here anymore since I close with old p8 lite developments definitively.
